5-Star Hotels in La Altagracia, Dominican Republic

This review is for the UNIQUE part of Lopesan Costa Bavaro. My wife and I spent 4 nights in May 2023. We had an amazing time during our stay that was nothing short of amazing. Our butler Victor was amazing and made sure no question went unanswered, no request was too much for him. We spent most of our time in the UNIQUE specific amenities (Restaurant/Bar/Beach/Pool) – the breakfast and lunch buffet very tremendous, the food was great and there was something for everyone. We especially enjoyed the fresh passionfruit at breakfast. The service at the beach was great, rarely did we not have a passionfruit margarita in our hands. The restaurants for dinner (We did the Steakhouse, the French restaurant, the UNIQUE only restaurant and the restaurant where UNIQUE members don’t have to pay extra to eat at) where all really good – the food was always very tasty, the presentation was appealing to the eye and service was friendly and fast. The room was clean, quiet and we always came back to a perfectly made room after our time at the beach. We are looking forward to our next stay!

There are flamingos, good beer, and the female receptionist who checked me in was super friendly. There is a beautiful beach and seaside. There are singing and magic shows in the reception bar at night. Every female waiter I met was very good, warm and friendly. The male waiters ranged from very nice to unfriendly.

Other than our butler which was very nice and helpful after the fact we had to spend an extra 4500$ to upgrade to diamond package everything else was not representative of a 5 star this hotel should not be rated past 3 stars should not cost more than 1500$ per week per person. There seems to be a systematic money saving culture and upcharging tactics at this location to which we were held hostage of. This reflects in the opinions of most except for the short stay customers that probably generate more money for the resort. They also keep the prime rooms aside for short stay customers that spend more over their duration of trip. Barely any shade around the pool and anything more than a chair costs more to sit on and they kick you off asking for money. Pool was under construction and other work being done on infrastructure (grinders etc) lack of fans and proper air conditionning in common areas. NO watersports on the beach all closed. Buffet closed 2 days a week (never saw that before). Rooms were clean but thats about it. Buffet very small and VERY VERY HOT. Blacklisted this one save your money go somewhere else its bareley a 3 star. As for employees, some were great other seemed to be drained and also overwhelmed with the lack of fans and heat in their work areas.

Ocean Blue is a medium size resort. Not small. Not huge like Iberostar. However it has lots of fine dining (5) onsite just like the huge ones. Their beach is perfect with lots of free cabana like shaded seating. Only surprise was our scuba shop was onsite but actual dive boat was 2 resorts down the beach at Iberostar. A 10 minute walk, no problem. This side of island a bit choppy for diving. Smoother on South side. Resort super clean, safe and friendly staff. More young families and older couples. No Spring Break teens! Highly recommend this resort for families.

A short but great trip. it was our first time in Cap Cana, and as soon as we walked into TRS the service was absolutely amazing. I am a travel agent, so this was more to promote my experience to my future clients. The welcome drink was amazing, the atmosphere was very modern and chic. Both guest service personnel were great. Stephanie our butler truly went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. The resort is small but just what we were looking for as we have experienced larger resorts, and the service is not the best. Javier the Chef at TRS was also very nice and attentive. Very skillful chef. The food was top of line. My favorite was the ceviche, and the rib steak at the Caribbean restaurant, typical Dominican food which I love. The pool and marina were amazing! Love that they play bachata and Dominican music as we are in DR. Not a beach resort, however always beautiful to see the sunset on the marina. The room was very comfortable with a beautiful view of the marina. We will most definit3ley stay again and for more days. Will definitely recommends! Thank you for the service!

I love the idea of a suite, and this hotel has the best suites with real doors to close off the bedroom so one person can sleep while the other watches TV. There is s mini kitchenette with a small fridge, a sink, and a microwave and coffee maker that makes hot water, too. There was a nice walk in shower in a big bathroom. Housekeeping is hit or miss as it is in all hotels around the country. You have to ask! Breakfast was a treat at the omelet station on the first floor. Now, we'll be looking for Embassy suites whenever we travel.

First and foremost, Eden Roc is a boutique hotel, so maybe 60 rooms, suites, villas. We normally stay in Ritz Carltons and Four Seasons so we understand good quality and Eden Roc did not disappoint. We travelled as a couple in our late 50s and this place was perfect. The beach is beautiful, the employees were attentive and willing to help/please the travelers, the food on the resort was delicious but very expensive, the rooms could use a little refresh but nonetheless nice and tropical. Our concierge Sara was great - she was very attentive and helpful the whole week. We golfed at Punta Espada and we can’t say anything but wow. It’s a spectacular course with amazing views, great caddies, and meticulously maintained greens. There is a St. Regis close to completion nearby but we think Eden Roc will continue to do well because not everyone wants the 300 room resort with people everywhere. Eden ROC had just enough going on, it was not overly loud or busy, pools are beautiful/beach beautiful, restaurants are great albeit expensive, and staff is great. We would totally come back to this gem!

A group of 7 stayed here. There were some great things about this resort and some not so great things. Great Things: The bartenders were all great, especially Angel and Alexis. The buffet restaurant staff, specifically Maria, she is simply the best. The pool area and lobby are both very nice, the nightly entertainment was also a lot of fun. The sand on the beach is fantastic, it’s like sugar and the water is warm but still refreshing, we even saw a few small sea turtles while swimming. The Not So Great: Some of our rooms. We all stayed in the Premium Level Oceanfront, some rooms were better than others. My particular room had a few issues, a very musty odor and a walk in shower with no door that caused the bathroom floor to get covered in water whenever someone showered. We voiced our concern but nothing was ever done. The rooms need to be updated.

The room is newly renovated! But the design is not novel! Front desk service is average! The restaurant is not bad in the all-inclusive! The pool is good 👍! The sea view room is a bit far away! There are trees on the lower floors that are not recommended!

The hotel was very clean, but the staff should have more attention and respect for the guests and not to deal with them badly since arrival, because by checking the staff I was doubting my reservation and the package I bought online by trip.com He waited for several hours, embarrassing me with the other guests who were doing checking, leaving me standing for a long time and in the end he told me that he was going to check me out. But he did sign me a guarantee until they could contact Trip to confirm, too The food has gone down a lot of quality, not even a restaurant open 24 hours, I asked for a dinner service for the room at 12am and it never arrived, they should improve its quality since it is a 5 star hotel.

I stayed the 1st week of October. It was my third stay at the Grand Palladium Punta Cana resort and spa. Can't wait to go back. Pros: Very safe resort. I travelled as a single female from ON, Canada and had no issues. The staff is very friendly and will assist any way they can. Rooms are big and spacious. Lots of choices for food and drinks. Lots of walking and exploring so you can never be bored. I stayed in room block 74 and it was very clean quiet and just steps away from everything. The food is great. Lots of choices and lots of fresh stations. Never had and cold food unless I went at the end of the buffett times. Cons: The rooms do need a bit of updating but I was hardly in the room. The tub needs to go. I'm short so it's hard to get up into them. A shout out to the daytime staff at the Palace Pool: Carlos M, William, Clara, Jose L, and Felix. Evening staff at the Palace lobby: Carmito, Vidal, Alexander, Pedro, Yojansi, and the others. Cristian at Hemingway, Sandy and Franklin at Las Torres, Maridalia at Pierce coffee bar, Dominigo at El Derado and Las Uva. My husband booked this stay through Costco travel for our 3rd anniversary. It was nothing short of amazing. The weather was perfect for our entire stay. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted with all smiles from the concierge and front desk clerk. There were 2 glasses of sparkling wine awaiting us as we completed the check in process . Our room wasn't quite ready, so the concierge showed us the property and took us to the lunch buffet. The food was 6/10 for the lunch buffet, but the service was 10/10. There was a young man grilling steaks to order. I wish I remembered his name. He was extremely pleasant in spite of the heat of the grill and guests shouting their orders at him. After lunch, we were able to check into our room. It was beautiful, comfy and clean and a bottle of sparkling wine was awaiting us. Then we met the best person of our stay, our butler STALING. He was always available and sought us out every single day to make sure that we were happy and comfortable. The smallest of requests were filled in a timely manner with a smile the entire time. Staling made sure all of our dinner reservations were set for our time there. I slept through the first night's dinner reservations at the surf and turf restaurant. My husband had tartare and ribeye and gave this restaurant a 7/10 as he was expecting more ”surf”. The following morning, we checked out the breakfast buffet. I'm not big on breakfast, so it was nothing to write home about for me. They had the normal omelette station and quite an assortment of eggs, breads, meat, potatoes, fruit, etc. Once again, the service was 10/10. For lunch, we opted for the pool side grill. The kebabs, burgers and spring rolls were delicious. The only negative was the guy working the grill was not very pleasant. I think it is just because of the language barrier and the heat of the grill. That evening, we had the Italian restaurant for dinner. It was quite delicious and had been our best meal at that point of the stay. My main course was shrimp risotto. My husband's main course was bread beef osumboco (sp?). During the day, there are many activities going on. Some activities included yoga, water cycling, dance lessons, bingo, etc. The hubs and I opted to be beach bums our entire stay. Surprisingly, the sea**** was kept at bay and we enjoyed playing in the mild waves and sleeping in the beach breeze. The beach servers were great about keeping us hydrated with water and libations. My favorite drink at the resort was the mojito. In the evening we had fun enjoying the live dancers in the theater and the singer in the lobby. My husband is not a dancer, so I enjoyed dancing with different members of the entertainment team. On our anniversary, we had the most beautiful display awaiting us after a day at the beach. Because we did not have time for dinner reservations or dinner on the beach (due to transportation for Coco Bongo which I highly recommend), Staling suggested that we order room service. It was a

I have an upcoming booking for this hotel on 11/03-11/09, and so far the experience has been absolutely terrible without even staying yet. My wife, myself and my parents are booked for my sister‘s wedding that has 30+ guests. At first, the Hilton put us in the wrong hotel (family resort instead of adult resort), after claiming they had no rooms available at the adult resort even though they have multiple rooms available through the app, including upgrades. They told my sister- the bride, our 80-year-old father could walk back-and-forth in between resorts if he wanted to be with the family, which is 30+ guests. After multiple emails back-and-forth to several different managers from my sister and I, we finally got moved, never told and ignored via email when asked. I found out after I checked my Hilton app. Furthermore, as a gold member elite status they’re refusing to upgrade my room. They put me in the most basic room available. I have yet to be at one Hilton resort where I have not been upgraded me as a gold elite member. I’ve contacted the hotel multiple times at the email address provided with no response whatsoever. As of this date, they have still failed to respond to me and continue to have me the runaround. They also failed to respond to my sister after trying to get confirmation that all of the guests are in the correct resort. As a gold member elite, I frequent several Hiltons around the world. I am absolutely disgusted with this hotel resort, and I have not even stayed there yet. They deny, refuse, ignore guests. I will be contacting corporate… Jeffrey Cox
