Stayed here for four out of five days in Penang. Finally got a twin room with a beautiful city view – excellent value for money! The sink is quite deep, which was handy for a quick wash of intimates. There's a 7-Eleven about 500m across the street, and a small convenience store right opposite, making it super easy to grab water and other essentials.
I had a pleasant stay at the hotel. The hotel is well located and offers convenient access to nearby attractions and transport options, which made getting around very easy.
The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, providing a relaxing environment after a long day. Housekeeping did a good job, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel felt calm and welcoming.
The staff were courteous and professional, and check-in and check-out were smooth. Amenities were adequate and met expectations for a comfortable stay.
Overall, it was a satisfactory experience, and I would consider staying here again in the future.
Almost every object in the main hall of this hotel has a history and a meaning, and some of them have price tags, for those who are interested in purchasing and owning them. Therefore, this hotel is more than just a hotel, it is also a museum and an antique store. Always an exceptionally and aesthetically unique experience here.
The centerpiece of this hotel is a square Zen garden, with a rectangular open sky roof that lets rain in to nourish the plants indoors. This very much adds to the relaxing ambience of the place.
One of the best places to hang out at this siz8able hotel is at the commons, where there are comfy leather couches, a TV, a fridge, a water dispenser, an ironing board and also worth mentioning a bookshelf filled with books and board games. It is open for all registered hotel guests to use, and is nicely equipped and furnished.
The hostel is on its perfect location. It has swimming pool. Working shower with heater. Also, clean toilet. I recommended place to stay for solo travelers
Excellent location, walking distance to all tourist attractions and the CAT bus stops are just 5mins walk.
The hotel has a traditional Chinese atmosphere. A small swimming pool. Room, toilet and bathroom are clean.
This hotel in Penang is located near Penang Hill and Kek Lok Si Temple. I chose it because I saw that it's not far from George Town by taxi.
The hotel facilities are comprehensive enough for basic needs. Although bottled water isn't provided, there's a water dispenser on the floor, and a kettle in the room for refilling. The space is a bit small, so the bathroom layout is a little inconvenient, and you can hear the drainage sometimes. The room has independent air conditioning, and it cools down quickly once the key card is inserted.
The hotel is in a residential area nearby, so you can experience local markets and food stalls. There are a few eateries with simple yet good food.
Stay 1 night for 2 rooms (ambassador room & counselor queen), overall all okay but counselor room bit hot because aircond was located near door & blocked by toilet so can’t reached bed very much.
Honestly cozy. Nothing to complain about. Room size is above average, with ample space for luggages. Bathroom seems a bit smaller at first glance but it's actually quite wide, especially at the shower area. The rainfall shower head has slightly lower water pressure and the heat control could get on the hotter side, but it's fine.
I especially appreciate their 24-hour receptionist. We checked in at around 12.30 without any issues. The receptionist offers toothbrushes, shower caps and sanitary bags upon check in, and everything else is in the room. Really thankful for the slippers too, rare to see hotels at this price point providing them.
Cleanliness is decently good as well, no glaring issues. Overall it was a very comfortable stay. I'm just here for a night and checking out the next morning, but I'm more than glad that it was so comfy.
This was my third time booking with this hotel. Unfortunately! When were about to leave in the evening heading to the airport to catch my wife's flight, the lift broke down at level 5.
I tried call out for help and contact phone numbers posted on the wall of the lift, but all went without luck.
I tried to press the emergency button in the lift, but it was hard to press to release alarm.. We waived at the CCTV but no action at all. After a while a guest heard us and went immediately down to report to the reception.
The service guys came up and advised us to stay calm and wait to lift service to arrive because they were not able to open the doors.
After 1 hour the service man arrived and opened the door for us so we rushed to book a grab to the airport immediately.
Finally we have arrived at 9:00 pm before the flight at 10:30pm.
Thank god that Malaysia gentel man heard the dying alarm sound and went to investigate, otherwise we would have been stuck the whole night and lost the flight.
From the bottom of our heart, thanks to that Malaysian hero.
For the hotel management, you need to check your CCTV, and regular service of lifts and contact number for immediate support and pickup phone calls.
I will never book at this hotel again.
Let me give a rational evaluation of this hotel. I don't mean to advise anyone not to stay at this hotel. The hotel has good hygiene conditions and the air is also very sweet. However, when I checked out the next morning, there was no one at the hotel front desk. There was a phone on the table at the hotel front desk, which was definitely asking guests to call to check out. However, I called many times but no one answered, which delayed me a lot of time. In order to take a plane to Kuala Lumpur as soon as possible and then take a luxury bus to Singapore from Kuala Lumpur, I had already booked my ticket in advance at a price of 180 Malaysian Ringgit, and I couldn't refund it. So I had to choose the method of asking the hotel to refund my deposit online, and then quickly went to the airport. As a result, I still couldn't catch my flight. I only spent 274 yuan to change my flight ticket, This caused me to miss the luxury bus, so I had to spend 50 Malaysian Ringgit to buy a new bus ticket. This bus was just an ordinary bus, and although I paid the deposit in cash, it was the hotel's mistake. The hotel should have refunded the deposit to me through online payment. I messaged the hotel a lot, but the hotel only responded by asking me to contact me through WhatsApp. However, because I am Chinese, Chinese policies do not allow me to use WhatsApp. We Chinese can only use WeChat, and Chinese people want to use WhatsApp It's difficult, but it's easy for foreigners to use WeChat. I gave the hotel my WeChat ID, and so far no one has added me on WeChat, let alone refunded my deposit. Because the hotel didn't answer the phone, I lost a lot of money and my original travel plan was disrupted. I asked the hotel to complete the refund of the deposit before the 26th, but there was no news. I don't want the deposit anymore, and I want to write a negative review. I just hope the hotel will learn from this lesson and not be so irresponsible to tourists in the future
I only stayed one night. The hotel has a nice view and is on a high floor. Breakfast was quite good. The bathroom only had a shower, no handheld showerhead. Even with all the lights on, the room was still very dim, which felt a bit off. Overall, the hygiene was good. The hotel's location is excellent, and the service attitude was good.
2nd time staying here and both times were excellent experiences. Very clean and modern hotel with minimal amenities, which was not something in consideration for my trips.
The staff from security to reception were very friendly, with special mention to day duty reception lady Shai (apologies if I got your name wrong). Her help and sincerity made my stay a joy.
Went with my mom. Took Cyan Room with breakfast. Location wise, very good. Very near to the photo spot, the George, the Crest Collection, Blue Mansion, Chulia Street, Love Lane, the Kimberley Market. Lots of food options around.
The things I find a bit difficult are the room cleaning service timing. Because the first day, the person came even before the breakfast time (7pm - 10:30pm) is finished at 9:30am. Then we went out and came back around 2pm, then came again at 3:30pm, when they said the room cleaning starts after 4pm. So a bit difficult to predict and avoid the timing.
Gave 2 water bottles everyday. But since room service only after 4pm, I requested the water bottle first, 2 days at counter got immediately after, but one day, called from the room, didn't come at all until 5pm when we went down to the counter to ask.
Room cleanliness could be better. The bedsheets had a bit of stains but I didn't mind. Water pressure is a bit weak. The hair dryer even weaker.
Otherwise, good location to stay, in the middle of Georgetown, accessible to every location easily.

RRongzidaThe room was clean and smoke-free, and both the front desk and housekeeping staff were very polite. The breakfast was delicious; you could have as much nasi lemak as you wanted, and the stir-fried noodles with egg yolk were amazing. They also had a very standard Western breakfast, and I indulged in two big bowls of yogurt! We got an upgrade to a sea-view room, which was beautiful. It's also super convenient to get to attractions using Grab. Highly recommend!
SSherry-XuWe stayed near the airport for one night to catch an early flight. We chose this hotel because it had a kids' pool, which was a nice bonus.
The hotel is conveniently located less than 10 minutes from the airport, making it easy to catch a taxi or pre-book one in the morning. While there aren't many commercial establishments nearby, the hotel's dining options were sufficient.
The room was clean, spacious, and well-equipped with comfortable amenities. However, for some reason (perhaps a special circumstance), the shower water fluctuated between hot and cold, making it very difficult to maintain a stable, comfortable temperature. We also couldn't find a hairdryer.
The kids' pool was definitely a highlight and better than we expected. Our little one had a great time, and we noticed many local families staying there with their children. So, even if you're not rushing for a flight, this hotel would be suitable for a leisurely trip too.
CCHONG CHING3 Days 2 nights stay at Chulia Mansion Georgetown
We booked 2 superior rooms for 2 nights via trip.com for Rm644.40 or Rm161.10/room/night . We checked in to Room 207 and room 215 upon arrival.
Once the door of Room 207 was opened, a bad odour full of stingy smell appeared. We did not care to take action at that moment. We went out for good food. After coming back to hotel to rest, we tried to check whereabout the smell coming from, and to take action by closing the toilet door from that moment thru the night. Sad to say, the stingy smell was still there all night long, and I could not have a good night sleep thru the night while surrounded with bad odour.
On top of that, the toilet shower rubber hose was cracked and water rushed out during our shower in day time.
The following day, I went to the lobby to tell the hotel lady, all the facts and request to change to another room. The lady checked the hotel computer system and told me that the hotel was fully booked a night before once housekeeping was done, they will give me a new room. That was roughly 12 noon. So, they tell me to go back to stay in room 207 to rest, and to wait for her call.
At 12 something , one man knocked on my door and sprayed our room 207 with air freshener, changed the hose and left.
By 1pm, I was uneasy and I went to the Lobby to follow up with the change of room. The same lady was watching something like movie her table, I asked her why nothing done to call and inform me to change to a new room. She raised her head and looked at me and said that the housekeeper informed her that there was nothing wrong with the room.
At that moment, my temper was up and I told her firmly and repeatedly that i want to change to a new room.
The next thing happened was that we were checked into room 315. We were lucky and happy that room 315 has no bad stingy smell. However, the shower hose in the room 315 was rosak then again I told the lobby about the facts.
So, moral of my stay is to follow up with the LOBBY all issues and defect in the hotel room that I feel unhappy with.
The whole purpose of the stay is to get happiness and relax by paying cash that worth the value, and not wait until check out to complain.
Last but not least, room 215 facing the street also noisy due to the sound and noise coming from motorcycle , cars and vehicles during daytime outside street, and also live band, loud music and pub. You can also hear music and live band coming from the roof of Chulia Mansion building itself.
Finally, I think if you are a light sleeper this hotel definitely is not your choice.
MM368600****The hotel's location is a bit far from George Town, but taxis are readily available. Right across the street is the famous Seven Terraces Bazaar, which is where I had all my breakfasts since I didn't book the hotel's option. I'd give the hotel service five stars! The front desk staff were very enthusiastic, and for my two-night stay, they brought me a latte every day. The place was clean and tidy, though the room itself didn't have water provided; you had to go to the hallway to get it. Overall, I'd still highly recommend it.
LLip Seng YapDesign and setup of the hotel was above my expectations for a hotel of this class, well equipped. Rooms are practical and well equipped. Basic TV channels. Super cold air conditioning. Bath amenities could be better.
But where this hotel truly shines is with its PEOPLE. From the moment I check in, I was greeted with friendly smiles and helpful staff. While I have checked out earlier to attend to business needs, they were still helpful when I returned later and even provided me a room for a quick shower. Everyone was just amazing.
ZZeelimI did not book room with breakfast but decided to hv it the next morning. Upon paying I ask for receipt but was told no receipt will be issued. Wonders why? Restaurant staff hv language barriers. Either they dont speak or understand which is seriously annoying when you ask for something and they think you are talking in a foreign language when it’s just simple English.
Checking in out is way too long, only one staff manning the reception.
JJoyce CPCAvatel Hotel is located in Jelutong area which there is a bit far from Georgetown city centre. Upon check in, we were asked to pay RM6 for government imposed tax. Then we were asked to pay RM50 of deposit which will be refunded during check out. There is a bus stop just right in front of the hotel. There are also an Indian restaurant and a Chinese Dim Sum restaurant right next to the hotel. I can walk to the nearest food court within 5 minutes and a local morning market within 10 minutes. There are 2 banks nearby which I can withdraw some money. The hotel swimming pool is located at 5th floor with a breathtaking view. The hotel did not provide mineral water bottle but they have a water dispenser at the lobby. All other amenities were not provided except 2 toothbrush and refillable 2 in 1 hair & body shampoo were available in the bathroom. There was also a minibar inside the room. The downside of this hotel are, there was lots of ants on the hotel room table when I put my food there, there were lots of ants came out and crawled on my food. After, I wiped off those ants, more ants came out from behind the mirror on the wall. The hotel room TV remote control was not found upon check in. After I informed front desk, the staff have tried many remote controls on our room TV and they spent more than half hour to get it fix. The housekeeping also took longer time to help us clean our room. We went out for breakfast and sight seeing and returned to our room but the room had yet to be cleaned. It ended up, we rested in our room and waited for housekeeping to clean our room with us being in the room. There is staircase leading to the hotel lobby, during my check out it was raining heavily, and I have to carry my own luggages under the rain to walk down the staircase in order to get into Grab car. It is very inconvenient and dangerous to hotel guest to walk down the slippery staircase during heavy rain.
