I stayed at Loop On Leith for 3 nights in a deluxe room. The room had a window, though the view wasn’t the best, it still made the space feel brighter and more comfortable. The location of the hotel is excellent – very convenient for exploring George Town on foot, with plenty of food, attractions, and shops nearby. The staff were friendly, helpful, and always welcoming, which made the stay even more pleasant. Overall, it’s a good choice if you’re looking for a comfortable stay in a great location.

We booked two rooms and had an outstanding experience at this hotel. Although both rooms were the same type (21m²), Room 1615 felt more spacious than Room 1609. The location is excellent, just a short walk to the night street food market on Lebuh Presgrave, 12 minutes to Cecil Market, and 8 minutes to the 24-hour McDonald's at Birch House. There’s also a hidden bar, Good Friend Club, less than 100 meters from the hotel entrance, and another one, Magazine 63, about 10 minutes away, across from 1st Avenue Mall. Just 2 minutes away is GAMA Supermarket, which includes a small pharmacy and bakery—very convenient for anything you need. 5 min away from Komtar also. Opposite hotel is the Hin Bus Depot. The rooms were clean and the air conditioning worked well. However, the bathroom exhaust fan was quite loud (though manageable if turned off after use), and the room lighting was a bit dim—adding a floor or table lamp would be helpful. The water heater took about 3 minutes to produce hot water, which could be improved to reduce water waste. Soundproofing wasn’t the best, as I could hear the neighboring shower, but it wasn’t a major issue for me. The hotel has a gym and swimming pool @ roof top level-25, though we didn’t have time to use them. The facilities well-maintained. Overall, we had a great stay. The staff and security were friendly and welcoming. Keep up the great work and continue maintaining the cleanliness and service standards! This hotel tends to get fully booked quickly. If you want to book this Hotel, please plan and book early Will stay again when I go Penang next time.

The room is quite small, but it offers a lovely view. It's very clean, although we didn’t have enough space to store all our shopping bags. :) Mr Putasnen Nagadaran was exceptionally helpful and proactive. He made sure my early check-in request was fulfilled with a clean room ready upon arrival, and he even greeted me by name when he saw me in the corridor while he was checking other rooms. He took the time to respond to my email sent late at night—while I was out during the day—with detailed information about nearby parking options in case the hotel’s lot was full. We’ll be returning because of Mr Putasnen’s outstanding service, not because of the hotel itself. Mr Putasnen - Please take care of yourself and don't overwork :)

🌟 Cititel Express Penang — Snug, Convenient, and Worth Considering 📍 Prime Location Nestled in the heart of Georgetown at 123 Lebuh Noordin, Cititel Express Penang boasts a top-tier location that’s a dream for anyone eager to explore the city’s iconic food spots, Komtar, and nearby malls—all within easy walking distance . Guests consistently rave about its convenience for eating, shopping, and sightseeing . 🛏 Room Size: Compact Yet Clean The rooms here are undeniably small—some describe them as “tiny” or “narrow”—but they tend to be clean, modern, and functional, especially ideal for short stays or solo travellers . That said, if you’re planning a long stay or value spaciousness, you might feel a bit cramped. 🚗 Complimentary Parking A rare plus in central Penang—parking is free for hotel guests. The Cititel Express shares a secure multi-story car park with St. Giles Wembley, and parking comes with no charge for Cititel Express guests . Do note, though, that a few guests have mentioned occasional hiccups with the parking ticket system, requiring a quick stop at reception to get it reissued . 👍 Service, Cleanliness & Value Most reviews highlight friendly and helpful staff, comfortable beds, strong value-for-money pricing, and acceptable cleanliness standards for a budget-friendly city hotel . While the facilities are basic, guests didn’t mention major complaints beyond the room size . ⚠️ Noise & Thin Walls Light sleepers should be aware: the rooms tend to have minimal soundproofing, and sounds from neighbouring rooms or the corridor can be noticeable

Looking at the review of hotels in Malaysia, there seem to be tons of people giving negative reviews for almost every hotel so was pretty wary of booking this hotel and all the other ones I stayed at! However, I found that this was a decent hotel albeit with some minor problems. To start with the good. The hotel is well constructed, by that I mean the rooms and walls are made of good material so that generally sound from other rooms or outside is not an issue. This is my main concern, because you must be able to sleep peacefully or live in your room without being disturbed by neighbours or the outside, that should be the primary goal of any hotel. The room size is also very large, although I found small things like the funny diagonal shaped desk not to be practical because it was too small to use comfortably. Also, you cannot connect your laptop to the TV with and HDMI because the TV is fixed to the wall. I had some small issues with a blocked basin and the shower hose was broken, but these were resolved after a couple of visits. I needed to persuade maintenance man to change the hose, which I thought was strange as it was obviously broken. He called in housekeeping afterwards to clean up some of the water on the floor that came from the work. The cleaner used one of the body towels to wipe up the water. I said that he should at least use the floor towel and not the ones for the body. He said it was ”Just water”. As someone who is prone to eczema, I have to be careful about detergents and what I put on my skin. If this is something that house cleaning do regularly, this would be a problem for me. (I did start getting some skin issues here, but cannot say for certain it was due to the hotel). There was also some old stains on the bed sheets that I had to ask to be changed. Bed sheets like that need to be either bleached or thrown away. They may not pose any health risks but no one wants to sleep on visibly stained sheets. Also, the small sofa bench on at the foot of the bed was heavily stained and really needs to be re-furbished. The breakfast was okay. I remember the dining area which is nice, but not much of the actual food. I just like eggs, toast, fruit and coffee. The check-in is on the 20th floor, so you will probably only see the managers when you check-in and when you check-out. I had a nice Indian lady check me in. I saw one other man manager, portly Indian man, there when I tried to extend by one night, who I found to be less friendly. I would stay here again, as the problems were minor. (I also stayed at the Citadines, which I absolutely do not recommend).

Unexpected Gem near Penang Airport! Booked last-minute after a flight cancellation – this 3-star airport hotel exceeded all expectations: - 🚗 Location Perfection: Just 5 mins from airport with free 24/7 airport transfer (lifesaver after car return!). - 👨👩👧👦 Family Heaven: Great fun pool with water slides kept kids ecstatic (rare for 3-star!). - 🛏️ Spacious, clean rooms – better than Georgetown’s 4-star we tried! Small Notes: - ❌ No in-room hairdryer. You can ask for it tho. M - ❌ Pool towels couldn’t be taken to rooms (kids got chilly!). **Verdict**: **Outshines pricier options** – would 100% rebook!

This home is perfectly designed — cozy and convenient! We loved our stay at 22 Macalisterz, managed by Wayne. The unit was spotless, stylish like a boutique hotel, yet still warm and practical. The little touches amazed us — from the water dispenser to the medical shower chair, and even Muslim-friendly kitchenware and prayer items. Truly exceeded our expectations! Families will find it especially thoughtful, with a baby cot, bathtub, and high chair all provided for a stress-free stay. The rooftop infinity pool was another highlight — breathtaking views of George Town during the day and beautiful Komtar lights at night. The location is strategic, with famous food stalls and restaurants just steps away. We couldn’t be happier with our stay and highly recommend it! 💯

New hotel in a prime location. 2-min walking distance to Vantage Point and iSantoriny where can find many nice restaurants, cafes, massage, hait salons. 2-min drive to Strait Quay and Island 88. 20-min to Batu Ferringhi. Very strategic location. The room is clean. But the pool is very small with pillars in the middle of the pool, so not suitable for children to swim - if just soak in the water is ok. Gym is spacious. No restaurant on-site, only a small bakery that is going to close down soon. Breakfast is only a coffee and a bun from the bakery.

AAnonymous UserThe hotel is a walking distance to the famous Iyer Itam wet market. You can have breakfast here before walking towards the Kek Lok Si temple. The hotel room isn't a big one but it provides the basic amenities that one needs. Overall it is clean. Mini fridge, TV, hair dryer, water kettle and air cond all working well. The bed is comfortable too.

CCHONG CHING3 Days 2 nights stay at Chulia Mansion Georgetown We booked 2 superior rooms for 2 nights via trip.com for Rm644.40 or Rm161.10/room/night . We checked in to Room 207 and room 215 upon arrival. Once the door of Room 207 was opened, a bad odour full of stingy smell appeared. We did not care to take action at that moment. We went out for good food. After coming back to hotel to rest, we tried to check whereabout the smell coming from, and to take action by closing the toilet door from that moment thru the night. Sad to say, the stingy smell was still there all night long, and I could not have a good night sleep thru the night while surrounded with bad odour. On top of that, the toilet shower rubber hose was cracked and water rushed out during our shower in day time. The following day, I went to the lobby to tell the hotel lady, all the facts and request to change to another room. The lady checked the hotel computer system and told me that the hotel was fully booked a night before once housekeeping was done, they will give me a new room. That was roughly 12 noon. So, they tell me to go back to stay in room 207 to rest, and to wait for her call. At 12 something , one man knocked on my door and sprayed our room 207 with air freshener, changed the hose and left. By 1pm, I was uneasy and I went to the Lobby to follow up with the change of room. The same lady was watching something like movie her table, I asked her why nothing done to call and inform me to change to a new room. She raised her head and looked at me and said that the housekeeper informed her that there was nothing wrong with the room. At that moment, my temper was up and I told her firmly and repeatedly that i want to change to a new room. The next thing happened was that we were checked into room 315. We were lucky and happy that room 315 has no bad stingy smell. However, the shower hose in the room 315 was rosak then again I told the lobby about the facts. So, moral of my stay is to follow up with the LOBBY all issues and defect in the hotel room that I feel unhappy with. The whole purpose of the stay is to get happiness and relax by paying cash that worth the value, and not wait until check out to complain. Last but not least, room 215 facing the street also noisy due to the sound and noise coming from motorcycle , cars and vehicles during daytime outside street, and also live band, loud music and pub. You can also hear music and live band coming from the roof of Chulia Mansion building itself. Finally, I think if you are a light sleeper this hotel definitely is not your choice.

RRlmeThe hotel is modern and very pretty! Love the decoration and design. It’s clean, the bed is comfortable (not the pillow) and I love the shower water pressure and the idea of having water dispenser for sustainability drive. A few things that disappointed a little: 1. Was assigned to room 212 which is located close to lift, I barely slept on the first night. One group of guests walked pass ard 12:50am and were talking and laughing so loudly, followed by the loud door closing sound (no soft closing). Then another group came back around 1:45am and I woke up because of the loud door opening and closing sound (3 times)…the aircon was centralised and quite cold, tried adjusting to higher temperature with lower volume but the control parcel is useless. The pillow was not comfortable also, the cotton was not even, too high for my liking. Morning 8:45am the house keeping person tried accessing the store room and entered the wrong PIN code for a few times and the beeping sound was non stop and I woke up again :( 2. Thankfully we were changed to another room at level 3, I managed to sleep better for the 2nd and 3rd night. But when we came back on Day 3, I wanted to watch TV but the remote control was missing. We called the front desk for a few times but no answer around 11pm, had to go down and request for the remote control to be delivered to my room. Guess what, we waited for 15 mins but no one came, called again and finally the house keeping staff showed up after 5 mins. Then when we opened the door, he asked us multiple times that why it’s missing and even requested us to check drawers etc. we searched everywhere before we called, only being accused after waiting for 20 mins. Then waited another 5 mins for him to get a new one and came back. So speechless… 3. I like the free coffee service that they offer, however there’s no food options and no room service. Most of the nearby shops close early and it’s quite hard to find for food at night if you are hungry 4. Not all the staffs are very friendly, the lady receptionist that we encountered was not super friendly and helpful. She told me that when we came down, the replacement room would be ready but it’s not, I waited for another 5 mins standing there until she got everything sorted out. Felt that she was unwilling to help
