Room is clean BUT random ants seen here & there. Asked for a room change but was told by the staffs that other rooms may have the same issues too as they have many complains from other guests on this problem too, was told because of the rain recently, ants somehow moved their homes. >< Ended up we didn’t change the room as we worried other rooms will have more ants! Sighh.. Throughout our stay, we had to bare with it seeing ants crawling every now & then which was uncomfortable . There are 2 hair dryers provided which is very thoughtful. 1 in the toilet the other in the cupboard ( higher watts ) which is good for long / thick hair. Many hooks to hang our clothes in the toilet. Staffs are very friendly & helpful too.

Very convenient location, within walking distance to KOMTAR. The room is simple but clean and comfortable. There are plenty of food options nearby, so you’ll never run out of places to explore and eat. It’s easy to find, which makes check-in hassle-free. I especially love that they provide laundry service for every guest staying here , such a thoughtful and practical touch. One night entitle to one wash

The location of Loop on Leith strikes a near-perfect balance. Although the hotel sits close to the lively Lebuh Chulia, it is cleverly tucked away along Leith Street. Chulia Street is a hub for backpackers and nightlife, so evenings can get noisy. By setting itself slightly inward, Loop on Leith neatly avoids the brunt of street noise, while still placing you just a four-minute walk from the iconic Blue Mansion (Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion), where you can easily begin your street food adventure. Its positioning works as an ideal base for urban exploration. Head north and you’ll find the refined charm of the heritage district; head south and you step straight into the vibrant pulse of the city center. The hotel embraces an Urban Chic concept, deliberately doing away with traditional heavy carpeting—a smart choice in a tropical climate, as it helps reduce mustiness and allergens. Instead, modern hard flooring and bright lighting create a space that feels noticeably fresher and cleaner, both visually and physically, compared to older Peranakan-style hotels in the same price range. Rooms here tend to be on the smaller side. For two guests traveling with large luggage, the space can feel a bit tight. It’s best suited for travelers who spend most of their day বাইরে exploring and simply want a comfortable place to rest at night—think light packers or efficiency-focused “urban explorers.” At roughly RM250 per night, Loop on Leith delivers a boutique-like aesthetic and standardized service at a budget hotel price point. The value-for-money and overall sense of comfort are impressive. It lacks the heavy, sometimes oppressive atmosphere of heritage buildings, and also avoids the blandness of chain hotels. This makes it especially appealing to young couples, solo travelers, or business visitors. If you’re looking for a spacious executive suite, this may not be the right choice. But if your priorities are efficiency, cleanliness, and stepping straight into great food and scenery the moment you walk out, it stands out as a smart option in George Town’s mid-range market. For an even better stay, consider requesting a higher-floor room—it offers a slightly more open view and helps buffer early morning street noise from passing motorcycles.

The building's decor is a vintage Chinese style, with many antique furnishings. The environment isn't noisy, and the customer service is reasonably polite. The shared dorm bathrooms for backpackers are decent; if you're not picky, they're perfectly fine. They also have private rooms, and for a higher price, you can naturally enjoy a more premium experience.

Parking available in front of the hotel. Room was clean. Price less than RM200 and room got bathtub. The weakness is only that the sink is outside the bathroom. And you can hear next door room watching TV and when they use their sink. Overall was satisfied for 1 night stay only.

My stay at U Hotel Penang was simple, comfortable, and worth the price. The hotel is located in Gelugor, quite strategic if you plan to move around Penang Island not exactly in the tourist centre, but still convenient with Grab and nearby food spots.

Location around 1.5 km away from many tourist attractions, like upside museum, UNESCO heritage sites etc.. we had to grab taxi everytime. There is a pool on 1st floor, big enough for children to swim around. Its from 7 am to 7 pm. But to be honest, it could be until 9 pm, kind of strict rules. Check-in counter staff was not that welcoming / nor smile, neither kind words/ But cleaning staff and security was kind, smiling every time as we enter the hotel.

GGuest UserThe location is good, but the hotel itself is quite basic and a bit dirty and messy. The fridge in our room was also broken. One of the front desk staff (who looked Chinese, but wasn't) was quite rude. The parking situation is a bit confusing. The day before yesterday, the front desk told us we only needed to pay RM5 once, and then parking would be free afterwards (we'd need to go to the front desk to wave off the charges). However, the next day, a different front desk staff member said it was ”RM5 for the first entry/exit each time.” So, we have no idea how they actually charge for parking; their policy is very confusing. It feels like none of the staff know what they're doing. And charging tourists RM5 for each entry/exit is quite unreasonable, isn't it? When you're on vacation, don't you go in and out of the hotel frequently? Do you really think charging RM5 every single time is reasonable? Charging once a day would be acceptable, but this seems like they're just desperate for money.

MMaboThe hotel's location is decent. Since I mainly used taxis to get around, finding food was easy with plenty of options nearby, plus convenience stores for drinks and snacks. The hotel definitely shows its age, but it's clean enough. There are coin-operated washing machines and free restrooms on the ground floor. Using Grab for taxis was very convenient and reasonably priced. It was easy to get to places like the Botanical Gardens, Kek Lok Si Temple, Penang Hill, or the ferry terminal – luckily, there's only one ferry terminal in Penang, so no getting lost there.

GGuest UserI recently booked two rooms at OZO George Town Penang for a family trip with my parents and uncle, and we had a brilliant stay. The Highlights: - Stunning Views: We were stayed on Level 10, and the views were fantastic—we had a clear, sweeping look at the entire Penang Island right from our room. - The Rooftop (Level 22): You absolutely have to head to the top floor. Level 22 features the pool and gym, offering a breathtaking 360-degree view of the island. It’s easily one of the best vantage points in the city. - Superior Comfort: After long days of exploring, the beds were incredibly comfortable. Everyone in the family mentioned how well they slept. - Excellent Service: The reception team was very friendly and made the check-in/out process seamless for our group. Location: The location is perfect for anyone wanting to experience Georgetown. Many local spots are within walking distance, and for anything further, it’s just a very short and affordable Grab ride away. Highly recommended for families or anyone looking for a modern stay with the best views in town!

HHaniff AMI recently stayed at this hotel and had a very pleasant experience overall. From the moment I arrived, the staff were friendly, welcoming, and quick to assist with check-in. The lobby was clean and well-decorated, creating a great first impression. The room itself was spacious, comfortable, and tidy. The bed was especially cozy, and I appreciated the small details like complimentary water, toiletries, and reliable Wi-Fi. Housekeeping did a great job maintaining cleanliness throughout my stay. One of the highlights was the hotel’s location, which made it easy to access nearby attractions, restaurants, and transport options. The breakfast provided was also satisfying, with a decent variety of choices to suit different tastes. There were a few minor drawbacks, such as slight noise from the hallway at times and limited parking space, but these did not significantly affect my overall stay. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient place to stay. I would definitely consider coming back in the future.

GGuest UserThe hotel is quite good overall. The room is a bit small but still comfortable, clean, and nicely designed. The air conditioning works very well and cools down quickly, even though the weather in Penang is quite hot. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The only downside is that the location is a bit far from the old town. I personally enjoy walking, so it wasn’t an issue for me. In return, the area is very quiet and close to a local market with plenty of delicious and affordable food options.

JJanel AngA Modern Gem in the Heart of George Town If you are looking for a hotel that is modern, functional, and incredibly clean, this is it. The bathroom was a highlight for me; it felt very premium with high-quality sanitary ware and a ”no-dust” policy that you can really see. The grey-toned tiles and minimalist layout make the space feel much larger. Beyond the room, the staff was efficient and the location makes it easy to walk to all the major sites. Secure parking was a plus, too!

TTini88We were a bit nervous after reading the reviews online but we had a really excellent stay. The rooms were super clean and modern with a beautiful sea view and the bed was really comfortable. The rooms had a kettle with teas, a hairdryer and iron and the shower was lovely and hot. Great AC too. The pool was lovely with a beautiful view of the sea and very nice and peaceful. The location was also great with a huge food market right opposite. Overall a really lovely stay
