5-Star Hotels in Penang, Malaysia

Had always been contemplating whether or not to try G Hotel Kelawai. Bit the bullet and here's my review; Room is spacious and comfortable, bed is top notch. Free minibar (replenished daily) is a plus. Swimming pool is nice although a bit shallow, and Gravity is a nice place to chill at night with view overlooking the island and Bukit Bendera. Is it worth the money? Yes. Location? Perfect. It'd be hard to find another hotel in Penang that checks all my boxes, and this could be it.

My overall stay at the hotel was truly wonderful! From the moment I arrived until the day I checked out, the hospitality extended to me was nothing short of exceptional. The hotel staff were warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure I felt welcomed and well taken care of throughout my trip. One of the biggest highlights is the strategic location, perfectly situated with easy access to key attractions, and restaurants, making it incredibly convenient for both leisure and business travelers. The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable, providing a peaceful retreat after a long day of exploring. I especially appreciated the classic charm of the hotel, which added a touch of timeless elegance to the entire experience. Whether you’re visiting for work or holiday, I highly recommend this hotel for its excellent service, great location, and overall value. I will definitely be back!

We had a night stay with 3 rooms including breakfast. Check in is smooth and receptionist is friendly with smile. Kids had enjoyed the swimming pool. There’s just a few steps to walk out to the beach. Alongside has newly opened cafe and restaurant. Breakfast has variety of choices but you need to queue if you are going at peak hour after 9am. Yes, queueing is the most unbearable part. I have never encountered such experience before you need to queue and split table for having breakfast which kinda spoil of mood. Staffs easily get annoyed when you asked for help. Not sure if I am bias but the treatment seems like a bit different compared to the white. However, the food is the salvation and nasi lemak is the signature that you must try. Cleanliness is a big issue that need to be improved. Location is not really strategic if you wish to explore Georgetown and find nice local food. Overall, it’s an okay choice for us for this stay.

I had a wonderful stay at PARKROYAL Penang Resort with my family. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and they really went the extra mile to make our stay special. Thank you so much for the lovely birthday cake and for fulfilling all my requests – it truly made the experience memorable. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious with a nice view. Facilities like the pool and kids’ activities were great, and the beach was just a short walk away. Breakfast had a wide variety of options and everything was fresh and tasty. Overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable trip. I really appreciate the thoughtful service and would highly recommend this resort for families or anyone looking for a beach getaway in Penang.

E&O Hotel Penang exceeded our expectations! The hotel's colonial charm and luxurious amenities made our stay truly unforgettable. The staff were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. The rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated, with stunning views of the garden or city. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool, indulging in delicious cocktails at the bar, and savoring local and international cuisine at the hotel's restaurants. The hotel's prime location in George Town made it easy to explore the city's cultural attractions, street art, and culinary delights. We highly recommend E&O Hotel Penang for its exceptional service, luxurious amenities, and unique charm.

My last stay at Ascott Gurney Penang was in Oct 2024. I travelled with a girlfriend and it was my first time staying. The experience was fantastic (the room view, the service provided, the cleanliness of the room, the pool and gym facilities etc) thus, this time I brought back my family and my in-laws to stay again (3 rooms). Was slightly disappointed this time. 1. The rooms assigned this time were not great, all low floors and the views were restricted (my last stay the room view was superb!) 2. There were lots of birds in the swimming pool area and I think the hotel should do something about it. There were droppings on the floor around the pool and after swimming for a short while, I felt uncomfortable as I could see something floating in the pool as well so I left…. 3. On the 2nd day morning, servicing staff promptly made up my room but not on the 3nd day morning. I was out between 10am to 1pm and was surprised to see that the room was not cleaned. I had to personally go down to the front desk to make the request to clean up… But overall, the service was still good, staff were courteous and helpful in general. I recommended Ascott Gurney to my husband this time, but he was quite disappointed with Ascott Gurney Penang, especially with reasons listed above and still prefer The George Penang where we stayed in end 2023 instead.

Its an amazing stay ,new property, Very good room especially Bed its so comfortable, Breakfast amazing, its an industrial area from hotel you need to walk 500 meters to access a small shops or restaurants. Wifi is good, Staffs are very friendly and helpful. I am very satisfied. GYM, INFINITI POOL ON THE TOP FLOOR ITS ADDITIONAL ADVANTAGE

This is my favourite hotel in Penang. Second time I'm coming here. I really love the vibes, environment n everything about this hotel. As my birthday celebration, the hotel had upgraded my booking to a deluxe room. I appreciate the compliments from the hotel and team. For sure I'll be coming for the next.

Pro Location is super near to a very big mall which is Gurney Plaza, just walk less than 2min after exit hotel lobby Cleaniness are well maintained. Super friendly staff, feels welcome the moment u stepped in. I took the executive package which comes with free flow drinks, food, and also simple dinner and free flow alcohol in the evening. However if you are planning for food trip around Penang you might want to opt out this. Free parking, decent size swimming pool for children, great gym with lots of equipment but might be a bit cramp, great variety for breakfast buffet. They share facilities with nearby G Hotel Kelawei like swimming pool, gym and lounge. Besides Kelawei has a pool party which is free to play. They have a buggy to bring you there too. Cons I got a room with bad working AC. Took some time to get it done. I took the buffet dinner at 168 but not much choices and even though the theme is crab but the crab always gone the moment they refill and you need to wait min 10min till the next round. Would recommend to go outside for a better dinner.

This was an unplanned stay, and I was so exhausted from driving from KL. It was a wonderful experience staying one night there, to come again.
