It was a little difficult to find the place to check in. This was a nice, clean hotel room. We stayed in a family friendly room. The beds were comfortable and there were drawers and a lot of counter space, a desk, end table, and small table. There were 3 extra pillows in a cabinet. There was an access code, so when someone left others weren't left in the dark and checkout was just a matter of sending a message via WeChat. We really liked this hotel!

A family of three are very satisfied đ The facilities are complete, clean and the bed is very comfortable. The environment is quiet, go out to go shopping and lively, and sleep very quietly. Parking is convenient, parked in the parking lot next to it, walked very close, parking is free. Going out and turning to the lively snack street, bought it back, shared it with the family, and then went to the queue. The next morning, I went to the queue again. I didn't get to the hottest team last night. I gathered the queue king and the food was very satisfied. The hot spring water is also very good, and it will be enough soon, and the children have a great time. The boss is very nice. Have a chance to live again

Fantastic value for money. I really liked the room. Shower and bathroom were great. Bed was comfy. The hotel is in a quiet street a little bit outside of the main streets which for me was a big plus. It's not too far away and way quieter. The owner/husband picked me up and dropped me off at the north gate. They have a fridge where you can pay for drinks per qr code.
2 water bottles a day for free in the room.
The wife gave me a map with explanations and an itinerary idea. Super nice!
Improvement ideas:
- Water refill from a big jug to safe on plastic
- English explanation on how to book the Pingyao 3 day ticket on WeChat (I figured it out myself but a small guide would be cool)
- some way to close blinds so people can't look in without having to shut off all daylight.
Would recommend the place and would book again without looking for anything else.

Hidden gem in Pingyao!
The owner and her family and simply amazing, very polite, welcoming, nice, kind, friendly and professional. You will really feel home at their place.
Great location just few minutes away from the ancient walled city, amazing building with nice, spacious and clean rooms.
Food there is also very good for an increasingly reasonable price
One of my best stay in China! Donât miss it!
I will definitely come back here for my next visit to Pingyao
Tip: you must try her coffee and you will be impressed by the best coffee in China!

Excellent value for money, spotlessly clean, and the staff provide great service. Breakfast is included, and the location offers very convenient transportation for exploring. In the evenings, it's lovely to stroll out to the square and enjoy the cool air. I wholeheartedly recommend Wutongge Hotel to anyone planning a trip to Datong.

This homestay has a good location and environment. It is an old house with an antique atmosphere. The owner is warm and thoughtful. He drove to the station to pick us up and gave us travel guidance and helped us book the âSee Pingyao Againâ sitcom. It gave us a good travel experience and we will stay at his house next time we come to Pingyao.

I stayed for three nights and was very satisfied with the room overall.
It's located near the west gate of Datong Ancient City, across from Huayan Temple. There's a shared bike parking spot right at the entrance, making it very convenient for getting around.
The hotel is beautifully decorated. Having just opened this year, they also provided a gift box of fruit and snacks upon check-in, along with a footbath tub, which was very comfortable and refreshing after a long day of walking.
The owner even gave us drinks and souvenirs before leaving.
The room wasn't too large, a bit smaller than chain hotels, but the overall layout was very logical and clean. Although it faced the street, the soundproofing was excellent.
I was pleasantly surprised to find a garment steamer and sewing kit in the room. The owner was truly attentive.

If you want a more authentic experience than staying in a fancy hotel, this is your place. Mrs Liu (sp?) was so lovely and helpful. She speaks a bit of English and is very fast on the translation apps for what she doesnât know. She gave us a map of the Ancient City and explained where we should visit. Every day she gave us water bottles. We stayed 2 nights.
You can experience a kang bed here, in a cozy room in a quaint courtyard. It was quite firm but still comfortable. There is air con which was needed when we were there. The bathroom is small but we found that everything didnât get wet, despite the small size of the room.
The inn is on the âtaxi-busâ route just off South Street. As it is a block from the Main Street it is significantly quieter as the honking of âtaxi-busesâ doesnât happen as much in the alleyways. Just be careful to walk on the sides of the road as the mopeds and taxi-buses are electric so quiet, except for the honking which is loud and constant, and they drive quite fast for the size and busyness of the streets.
There is plenty of food places just a short walk away from the hotel. The ancient city was a lot more touristy than we had expected.
You need to prearrange with the innkeeper to organise a âtaxi-busâ to pick you up from the South Gate. Regular cars are not allowed inside the city wall. We were dropped by the DiDi but it is too far and busy to walk with luggage to the inn. Mrs Liu and her husband helped us out with their mopeds.
Not many âtaxi-busâ drivers know the inn as it is a smaller private hotel, so make sure you have the address printed out to show them. The taxi-bus is 10RMB pp per ride and you can flag them down anywhere on the streets they are allowed on, but they may not want to go where you want to go, so just flag another one until you get one that agrees. You scan the drivers QR code to pay.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at Pingyao Yunshu Inn.
De Shoufu has a very small frontage with shops on both sides. It's easy to miss it if you pay attention. Once you enter, you'll find a two-story courtyard, a cultural relic protection courtyard. The environment is elegant, the room facilities are very good, and the store owner's service is excellent. He greeted us and found a suitable parking space for us. I give it a thumbs up. The breakfast is a thoughtful set meal with a suitable variety and generous portions. I will come again if I have the chance.

My few days in Pingyao Ancient City were made especially pleasant thanks to this inn. Choosing the right accommodation is crucial. Although this inn is located within the ancient city, it offers perfect convenience. You can easily reach any attraction, whether you're visiting the Yingxun Gate light show or other attractions within the city. When you're tired, you can just take a sightseeing bus to the alley entrance.
The inn's unique courtyard, with its blue brick and gray tiles and carved wooden doors, feels like stepping into a bygone era. Every photo captures its allure. The room is clean and tidy, with simple yet stylish decor. Smart amenities like the smart toilet make for a comfortable stay. The minimalist design exudes elegance. After a day of wandering, curl up in your room and watch a movie at nightâit's so comfortable you don't want to move.
The owner was like a friendly friend. He was incredibly knowledgeable about Pingyao's attractions and explained them clearly, even planning a detailed itinerary. He was incredibly helpful and helped arrange a very affordable chartered car to Wang Family Courtyard and Shuanglin Temple. He also booked tickets for performances in the ancient city and gave us coupons for popular restaurants, saving us from many pitfalls. We arrived by high-speed rail, and they even provided pick-up and drop-off service. Upon check-out, we even received a thoughtful giftâa truly heartwarming thought.
Sitting in the courtyard in the evening, enjoying the breeze and the night view, the fatigue from touring the ancient city melted away. After two days, I was almost reluctant to leave. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Pingyao.

NNihaNicOntheGoThis hotel is not to miss, it is very beautiful with traditional style. We stayed in a beautiful room with the traditional Kang Bed (which was much more
Comfortable than we thought actually), it was totally quiet at night and thanks to blackout curtain we didnât wake up too early. The owner offered us a bottle of vinegar and he also wanted to take us to the train station for free. Actually we booked another hotel with a ânormalâ bed for the other days in Pingyao but we regretted a lot. We paid much more to struggle sleeping because of nonsense modernities of the other hotel with intelligent amenities making noise and light in the room. So, it is much better to keep your budget and stay in this perfect hotel. The only âdownsideâ is the toilet without wet/dry separation but honestly at the price you pay to stay in a great place like this, itâs totally ok.
GGuest UserWe stayed at thos lovely hotel. Lovingly restored by the current owner Mr Wang. He is the 6th generation owner of the property.
Until 10 years ago it was a derelict and dilapidated building. He poured money, time, blood, sweat and tears to restore it
And it does feel and look like a traditional house.
You feel you are going back in time.
Firstly the customer service is way beyond the call of duty. Its so good, i would recommend staying with mr Wang at whatever hotel he runs.
He picked us at the Lower East Gate, and brought us to the hotel, then took nearly half an hour to explain in great detail where we need to visit, whether the sights be in the city or outside the city.
Some of his suggestions, not on the tour books were very good . For example he suggested 3 restaurants, and we avoided them thinking he was getting a kickback.on our 4th and last day we tried restaurant no 2 of his. And it was good , the food and service were good. The prices were average with other restaurants and we got a 10% discount being the hotel's guests. And remember we had eaten 10 meals by the time we came to his suggestions.
Another suggestion of Mr Wang was Ma family home - also a very good tip from him.
Everytime we had a request or question he always responded with enthusiasm.
On our last day we checked out at 4am and he still took us to the pick up point at that ungodly hour.
Yep Mr and Mrs Wang's customer service is just first class.
The room was large, queen deluxe double, and the furnishings were traditional chinese furniture made of Rosewood. Very Expensive furniture for a hotel room. Shower worked well and was hot. However be aware its chinese style wet floor system ie there is no shower curtain between the shower and a small part of the bathroom does get wet if youare not careful. MR Wang said it will be one his improvement on his priority list. Hopefully by the time you booked the problem will have been resolved
The hotel is very close to the main streets. About 5 min walk.
The city of pingyao is worth visiting, it is one of the very walled cities left in China, with its old buildings intact and people still living it. All the city walls are also intact. Magnificent at night.
GGuest UserI was greeted with a fruit platter during check-in, which was a wonderful welcome gesture considering I left my home about 24 hours earlier, traveling non-stop from California to Datong, China. The Inn provides a wonderful experience for the first-time foreign visitor. The interior decor has that Chinese charm consisting of artwork, a book display, an aquarium with an auspicious collection of 8 large fishes (carp, I think), in-room tea set with an on-table electric stove, which would be unique to most Westerners. The glass flooring adds an extraordinary appeal since I have never experienced that in a hotel before, and I have traveled to dozens of countries.
The Inn is well located, a short bus ride to Datong Railway Station (for non-high-speed rail travel)*, and a short taxi ride to Datong South Railway Station (for high-speed rail travel)**. It is just next to Datong City Wall. You can walk along the top of the City Wall at no cost. A 10-20 minute walk takes you to nearly all the attractions within the ancient City Wall. Here you will also find a variety of restaurants serving local food as well as souvenir shops. There is also a small shop that sells sundry items including drinks (beer included) within a 5-minute walk from the Inn. Across from this sundry shop, is a shop that specializes in ancient Chinese clothing (Hanfu dress). They can dress you up, cosmetics included.
The Inn provides directions to Yujian Yun Gang - a popular destination for travelers to Datong. Here you will see ancient Buddhist cave art, including large and tall (several stories tall) sculptures. It takes two bus rides to get there, 1RMB per ride.
My booking choice was for either a guest room on the 1st or 2nd floor but was assigned a wonderful 2nd-floor guest room.
The owners of the Inn were exceptionally friendly. I met both the mother and her daughter. My room was professionally cleaned and provided with drinking bottled water daily.
If I return to Datong in the future, I will certainly book a room at this Inn.
*I took a train from this station to travel south to Xinzhou after checking out.
**I arrived in Datong from Beijing Daxing International Airport

AAnonymous UserBecause I like big rooms, I booked a family room, and there are extra discounts for staying for three days. The hotel is on the 20th-21st floor of a building next to Datong Railway Station. Downstairs is the Aegean Shopping Park. The second underground floor is the hotel parking lot. You have to pay the parking fee in advance and the hotel will reimburse you later. The room decoration is simple, and towels, cups and other utensils are disposable. The sanitary conditions are good. The first room assigned was next to the laundry room and had a sewage odor, so we were quickly moved to another room. There is a Tonghe Hotel near the train station, which serves authentic Datong cuisine and is not expensive. There is a Fudao Noodle Restaurant on Wuding West Street, 300 meters away from the hotel, which serves breakfast at 6:30, and it tastes good.
AAnonymous UserThe room was very clean and the service was very thoughtful and welcoming. This should be the best service I have ever stayed in. The hotel is very good, the furnishings are more comfortable, and it is quite stylish. The guidance service at the front desk can also be done. The accommodation environment is quite quiet at night, and the breakfast type and taste are good. Recommended to stay 100 stars.

GGuest UserThe room was very clean, with plenty of drinking water, good quality disposable utensils, and very comfortable layout. The boss was very considerate, seeing that we were with our children. My husband felt uncomfortable in the middle of the night and went to the emergency room. The boss contacted me early the next morning and asked if there was anything he could help with. He was worried that I, a foreigner, would need help in an emergency. I was very touched. The transportation was very convenient, just next to Chaoyangmen, and it took ten minutes to walk to Gulou East Street. The ancient city wall was right outside the gate. I felt comfortable and at ease when I was away from home. I was satisfied and touched.
