Very Good
LLucasDucasLocation was great - you can get the bus outside into town takes 5 minutes to get to the square and walk into where the bars restaurants and shops are.
The brasserie on the corner is fantastic food and service and a general spot if you’re a foodie!
Quays bar is a must! Live music and atmosphere it brilliant there :)
Hotel is great, clean, efficient and nice views they also have lots of leaflets and a pool table in reception along side a coffee machine and vending machine.
There is a petrol station next door for any other amenities needed.
All rooms were clean and had their own bathroom and kitchenette.
Recommended if you come Galway to hire a car you want to drive out alongside the coast and country side - ferry tour of the Aran islands is beautiful and the drive there was out of this world!
Everyone is so helpful and friendly to approach and talk too. Loved it 🇮🇪❤️
JjfshVery convenient location - just a minute or two walk from the train station. Room was clean, facilities were reasonable for the price. The issue we did have though was not receiving any check-in details prior to arriving in the evening. While trying to check in, a few groups managed to check in - having received earlier that day an email from the accommodation. For whatever reason, we didn't get ours. After a number of messages/calls and seeking assistance from the hotel across the road, we managed to finally receive comms from the accommodation in order to gain entry. While the individual from Madison House was adamant they sent the email, they weren't able to provide proof of this upon request...
GGuest UserAmazing accomodation in Athenry. We booked this accomodation because it was a 20 minute train ride from Galway and the lodge was a very short walk from the train station. We really enjoyed being at the Lodge at the Old Barracks. The accomodation had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. But what was a true highlight was the breakfast at the cafe below (included with our booking) - the food was so delicious and better than any other hotel breakfast I’ve had. Would come back just for the breakfast!!
Small note, the floor above creaked when the people moved around the room above which was a bit of a disturbance early in the morning or at night.
But overall, would 10/10 recommend!
GGuest UserAbsolutely 💯 brilliant 👏 staff are so so helpful and they are so friendly, Caroline on reception is one of the best 👌 I highly recommend this hotel, my husband and I go there at least once a month for 3 nights 🌙 we never want to leave 😀 we could do with all hotels upping their game to the same standard as the connaught hotel Galway. Thanks to all the amazing smiling 😃 staff for making our stay so good. Looking forward to going back soon please God 🙏
GGuest UserThe location is good, close to restaurants and supermarkets. I didn’t like that so many things were broken. The shelf in the bathroom was loose and tilted, the wall lights next to the beds needed tightened as well, as they flipped on the side. The bathroom door handle and lock didn’t work. We had some long dark hair in our room. A lot was broken or crooked.
It was ok for one night, but I wouldn’t stay longer. The girl at the desk was not very knowledgeable regarding her surroundings. I’ve asked about the Burren.
The Italian restaurant was good, the breakfast in the morning was good as well. However I emailed the hotel for gluten free options but I didn’t get any.
JJunGreat location for travellers! This 3-star hotel is conveniently situated near the bus station, making it easy to get around the city. The rooms were comfortable and clean, offering the essentials needed for a short stay. Staff were friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with directions and recommendations. While amenities are basic, it’s a solid option if you’re looking for convenience and value in a central location. Perfect for budget-conscious travellers or those just passing through!
GGuest UserThe hotel is very cozy, with excellent service and good facilities. Breakfast is 15 euros per person, not very extensive, but still acceptable. There is a bar in the lobby. The hotel has its own parking lot, which is very convenient. I would definitely stay here again when I visit Galway next time.
GGuest UserReally enjoyed our stay in Flannerys Hotel as usual. We have stayed there many times and always enjoy it. Staff are very friendly, rooms are very comfortable and spotless. I would highly recommend staying there.
GGuest UserWe stayed on the 5th of September. It's a beautiful hotel.
We enjoyed everything about this place except the unbearable heat in the room. It was impossible to sleep. There was a portable fan but it was very noisy. And even when it's on, it wasn't helpful. No air conditioner. We had a very poor sleep.
And no matter how much we enjoyed the gym, swimming pool, food, friendly staff and the atmosphere of the hotel, we would not stay here next time.
