A memorable hotel, full of old-world charm, with courteous staff. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped. It's a landmark in Nikko, historically the first and most high-standard hotel. The only downside was the set dinner; while presented well, the ingredients and culinary skill weren't up to par, and the main course fish wasn't fresh.
I stayed overnight without meals, but the room was clean and spacious. The large public bath was spacious and I was able to relax and enjoy it. The lounge was free to use in the evening, and I enjoyed some snacks and alcoholic beverages, which was very satisfying.
The service was warm and attentive, and the hotel facilities were well-maintained and thoughtfully designed. If you're not driving, be sure to book the shuttle bus. The buffet dinner was definitely a highlight. Personally, I found the tatami somewhat firm.
During the recent three-day autumn foliage season, rooms in Nikko were extremely difficult to book, especially balcony rooms with views of Nantaiyama and Chuzenji Lake. This time, I checked in at noon and requested an upgrade to a lake view room, and luckily, one became available on the 5th floor, the top floor. The balcony of the room offered a breathtaking lake view! Although the price was high, it was truly amazing!
Environment: Prime location near Chuzenji Lake, with its own dedicated station. The pier, lakeside, and Kegon Falls are all within walking distance.
Service: Top-notch. From check-in to introductions, turndown service, and breakfast the next day, the staff were impeccably at home! They now offer twice-daily shuttle service from Nikko Station. Truly fantastic!
Facilities: Complete with all amenities, including a private onsen (hot spring), and state-of-the-art bathing and skincare facilities.
Cleanliness: Spotless, and the public areas are impeccably beautiful.
Staying here is like living inside an oil painting, except for the price. But this is just one example! The purpose of making money is to achieve Ritz-Carlton freedom.
The shuttle bus is very convenient.
Although it's an older hotel with somewhat rustic furnishings, it's very clean and comfortable. During the day, the view from the window is of Lake Chuzenji, its shimmering waters are beautiful.
The hotel staff are all very helpful, happy to assist you, and very enthusiastic in answering your questions.
It's a perfect hotel for a relaxing vacation.
The food is all delicious; highly recommended.
The hotel and rooms were excellent, and the dinner and breakfast we booked were plentiful and exquisite. The wine was also very good. The owner, who is also the hotel's designer, is incredibly kind and welcoming. During dinner, he went to each table to chat with guests and inquire about their dining and accommodation arrangements. The only downside is the location; it's quite far from the bus stop, requiring a long walk or a taxi ride to reach the hotel, but the experience was definitely worth it.
The rooms were spacious and the views from the rooms were beautiful. There was also a hot spring, so we were able to relax. Dinner was a course meal, but the portions were just right and everything was delicious.
