2-Star Hotels in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan

I really liked the minimalist decor; it's better than a hostel since they're individual pods rather than bunk beds. You can only open your luggage on the bed. There's no lock on the door, but there's a locker to secure your belongings. It's quite close to the station, the bed was very comfortable, and the cleanliness was excellent—no dust in the corners. You have to change shoes right at the entrance of the building, where there's a shoe cabinet. It felt a bit warm at first, but then it was fine.

It seemed to be the day of a fireworks display and was very popular that day. Check-in was done in one part of the coffee shop. We apologize when it is crowded as the general public also enjoys tea. The rooms have air conditioning, but the beds do not, so it feels very hot and difficult to stay there. There are no towels or toothbrushes. You need to bring your own. Earplugs were available at the washbasin. There is only one shower and one toilet, so you have to be patient when others are using them. I woke up in the middle of the night when someone came home and took a shower because of the noise. You have to cross a big road from the station, so it is better to go out with plenty of time to spare.

PROS - For this price, the rooms are considered large/adequately spacious, not squeezy or cramped at all, which we think is a steal!! - We especially love the triple bed room, it comes with a mini room consisting of a table and sofa for sitting. - While the triple room we had didn't have a Mt. Fuji view, the twin room we booked did, so we are glad that at least one of the rooms has the Mt. Fuji view. - The staff at the reception are friendly and welcoming to us. They can speak English too. - Amenities like tea bags, toothbrushes, combs, shavers, etc., are available at the first floor for you to take, there's no need to bring your own. CONS - Hardly any, maybe the flat pillows, but you can take extra pillows from the level 1 area. We were initially worried about the odd smell mentioned in some other reviews, but luckily our rooms are fine and are also pretty clean -- this is the most important factor for us, as we have a toddler. Everything was perfect, except maybe the location is slightly far, but still walkable (7 to 10min). Do bring an umbrella with you though, as there is no shelter from the station to the hotel. Overall, this is a very decent hotel that exceeded our expectations, we highly recommend it and would definitely stay again next time! PS: Attractions reachable from Gotemba Stn (within 20min-1hr) include Gotemba Premium Outlets, Fuji Safari Park, Komakado Kazaana Cave, Lake Yamanaka, Numazu Deep Sea Aquarium, etc

Was a truly beautiful stay, rooms are spacious and staff are beyond accommodating, hotel is situated right in front of the 7-falls, which turned into my beautiful morning walk, the hotel onsen are amazing, bus stops right out front of the hotel from kawazu station. I came out to the hotel specifically for the frog zoo directly next door! Which was also absolutely amazing.

This time I stayed near Izu Kogen Station, just a few hundred meters walk away, which was very convenient. Facilities: The restaurant and hot springs were all available. Although the hot springs and restrooms are shared, it wasn't inconvenient at all. You can play PS5 and use the massage chair. There are two hot spring baths, one large and one small, which can be reserved in advance. Cleanliness: It was cleaned daily. While traditional Japanese-style rooms don't inherently look as 'clean' as modern ones, I found it quite clean. Environment: It's close to the train station and there are some restaurants nearby. The owner keeps the place very nicely decorated, with many interesting ornaments and designs. Service: The staff member is *********, which made communication very easy. Every day, a large thermos of hot water was left at the door. The hot spring reservation software was very convenient and integrated with WeChat. When I left, the owner insisted on driving me to the train station – the service was absolutely top-notch. This little inn is quite interesting; if you're used to modern hotels, you might want to try this Japanese-style one. I would definitely consider staying here again if I come back to Izu.

The Hostel is clean and offers everything you might need. There is free water, coffee and tea. They also offer multiple things to rent for free including charging adapters and bicycles. You get access to a locker in a good size. The bathrooms were sparkling clean and the common areas are very comfortable and cozy too. The only negative thing was that the male bathrooms and the main common area is on the third floor of the Hostel and there's no elevator. Another thing I appreciate is the free washing machine and dryer although the dryer took three hours to thoroughly dry my clothes. The Location is also amazing. Close to the train station and the park with beautiful cherry blossoms and a good view of Mount Fuji. I can also recommend the veggie cafe mazina that's very close to the Hostel. Their Fresh Sandwich was a delight.

The room comes with three standard-sized beds, and each of us has individual lights and charging ports right next to our bed, which is a really thoughtful design. The room was really spacious, and we had sufficient space for three big luggages. It also comes with a dining table, chairs, a full-sized refrigerator, and a television. The best of all, the view from our room is superb! We were really lucky, and we managed to see a clear, beautiful view of Mount Fuji straight from our room! 😍 We never expected this for the good price we paid for the hotel room that is rather basic. Buffet breakfast was provided and tasted okay. The hotel parking was quite a distance from the hotel, but the rate was not expensive. Price for value, and I would recommend this stay for budget travellers.

I stayed here for two nights, and the hotel has a very convenient location. It takes about 7 minutes to walk to Shizuoka Station, less than 20 minutes to Sunpujo Park, and around 10 minutes to the Shizuoka Prefectural Office. Convenience stores such as 7-Eleven and Ministop are also just a 5-minute walk away. The hotel has useful facilities, including a coin laundry and an ice maker on the second floor. Breakfast is available, although I didn’t choose the breakfast option when booking. Soundproofing is quite good. I slept well and didn’t hear noise from nearby rooms. Overall, the staff were helpful and professional. Considering the price, I’m very satisfied with my stay and would recommend this hotel. Photos from the window of my room.

perfect place if you want a no frill traditional japanese ryokan. IYKYK. the only drag is that it's two short train stops from the busy destination Shuzenji, however local trains runs like til almost midnight. well-kept (but old) squeaky clean facilities + excellent okamisan. breakfast for additional like 5 dollars was top to the price. again, if you are looking for a modern boutique place, seek elsewhere. if you appreciate the japanese ryokan minshuku culture (which is disapperaring), this is the place. worth visit, worth money although unbelievably cheap. the town itself (Ohito) has some hidden gems like small restaurants and snacks (japanese bar). will visit again, if i ever come back to Izu.

The hosts were super friendly and welcomed in front of the alley to the hostel. They were kind and answering messages quickly. The hostel is located near the JR station so it was convenient. The neighbourhood is a small town; and not many restaurants or tourist spots located so I enjoyed the quiet night. The restaurants that the hosts recommended were Chuka food restaurant; Taiwan style foods were super cheap and delicious. I was travelling to Ito city but I felt that staying at a hostel one station from Ito Station was an excellent choice. I was heard that people mostly book from Airbnb app, and I am the trip.com user. Hope a lot more people can see this and book this warm welcoming hostel.
