"Choosing the right hotel made our trip to West Lake so much easier! It's right next to West Lake, so after an evening stroll around the lake, we could just head downstairs to the night market for a bite to eat. It was incredibly convenient for both dining and getting around. The entire room was meticulously clean with no strange odors, and the bathroom had a great dry/wet separation, so no standing water. Compared to other hotels in the same area, this price is truly a bargain. I'll definitely stay here again next time."

No. 7 of 4-Star Select Hotels in Hangzhou"The Marco Polo brand speaks for itself; we frequently stayed at Marco Polo hotels during business trips to Shenzhen, as they were our preferred corporate hotels, and we always had a comfortable stay. This Marco Polo is no exception. Although it's a bit older, the facilities and amenities are still great, and even the shampoo and shower gel are branded. My only complaint is about the front desk service. We arrived quite late on the night of check-in, and there were two male staff members on duty. We couldn't get any of our requests fulfilled. We wanted to change rooms because we were traveling with elderly people and children. If the hotel is fully booked, just say so directly and politely. Instead, one of the male front desk agents took over from the one checking me in and repeatedly emphasized that I booked a promotional rate room, and therefore couldn't change or cancel it. He said ”you booked a special rate room” several times. What's with the disdain for guests who book special rates? Do guests who book special rates deserve to be treated differently? If so, then don't offer such packages. I even mentioned that our company has a corporate agreement with the hotel and that I'm a frequent guest, but he just dismissed it, saying it was irrelevant. It left a really bad taste in my mouth. While the hotel itself is good, I have to give a bad rating to the service provided by your male front desk staff."

When my girlfriend and I pick a hotel for our trips, we're pretty picky. Bad soundproofing? Pass. Not clean enough? Pass. For me, as a guy, anywhere is fine – it's just a place to sleep. But considering my girlfriend's safety, finding a hotel that's both clean and affordable is quite a challenge. We considered guesthouses and big-brand hotels, but the prices near West Lake totally put me off. Finding an affordable hotel with comfortable rooms seemed almost impossible. After a lot of searching, my girlfriend and I finally found this hotel. I read a lot of reviews for various hotels, with many complaining about this and that. But this one had tons of good reviews and very few bad ones. I just hoped we wouldn't encounter any issues during our stay. The best part, especially for those flying into Hangzhou, is that this hotel offers a paid airport pick-up service, and it even covers highway tolls. The price was lower than any I found online, which was a major reason for choosing it.
After checking in and getting to our room, I did notice a smoky smell. I immediately contacted the front desk, and I have to say, their service was incredibly efficient. Less than two minutes after my call, a young man from the front desk came up to our room. He kept apologizing, explaining that the hotel is non-smoking throughout and that our feedback suggested the previous guest might have smoked, and the smell hadn't dissipated quickly enough. Hearing our feedback, they immediately offered us a new room. For my girlfriend and me, hearing that completely changed our mood; any small issues with the hotel suddenly didn't seem like a big deal anymore. The bed in the new room was also very clean. Although we brought our own sheets and duvet covers to put on, the hotel's bedding was still very clean – just as I expected from the reviews. We happily settled into the room, dropped off our luggage, and went out to experience the local food and culture.
Back at the hotel, they also have a washing machine and a gym. The gym only had treadmills, so I even went to the front desk to ask why. The lady at the front desk explained that because children might stay at the hotel, placing dumbbells or similar equipment could lead to injuries for the kids. I instantly understood. It really goes to show that you have to patiently and carefully search for good hotels, and you only truly know after experiencing them."

After settling in, I couldn't help but praise everything about Zhejiang Hotel, especially considering its excellent value for money. It's truly the best choice for accommodation in Hangzhou. Our experience was comfortable, cozy, convenient, simple, and relaxing. Here are some standout points:
First, the power strip in the room was incredibly handy – no worries if you forget your charging cable!
Second, the bathroom had a great wet/dry separation, and the door opening inwards smartly allowed for easy use of the bathmat.
Third, the self-service restaurant on the top floor features an observation deck with stunning, direct views of West Lake – perfect for photos. This location is truly unique!
Fourth, the hotel offers self-service amenities like microwaves on the fourth floor (shared with other hotels in the building), which is super convenient for guests with specific needs.
Fifth, the hotel provides every service a guest could ask for, offering so many benefits.
Sixth, the location is incredibly prime, yet surprisingly quiet and peaceful at night – truly excellent.
Well, words can't fully express how pleased I am. I want to commend Zhejiang Hotel once again and hope they continue to maintain their high standard of service. Thank you!"

2026 Global 100 - Cultural Hotels"During my recent trip back to China to visit family, I decided to spend a few days in Hangzhou. When choosing a hotel, I was initially drawn to the West Lake醋鱼 (vinegar fish) at Ziwei Hall. Online reviews claimed it was the best in Hangzhou, and after tasting it, I can confirm it was absolutely exceptional. For convenience, I booked a stay at this hotel. Upon arrival, I was quite early and didn't expect to be able to check in immediately (the hotel's policy is 2 PM). To my surprise, not only was I able to check in right away, but I also received a complimentary upgrade to a lake-view room!
The next day, we booked the hotel's lake tour, which was another wonderful surprise. The boat, which normally accommodates ten people, was exclusively for my husband and me that day. The thoughtfully prepared fruit tea and snacks, along with the luxurious and comfortable environment, were fantastic. What particularly touched us was the attentive service from the young man on the boat.
As someone who lives abroad long-term, I tend to be quite discerning about my surroundings and service. However, my stay at this state guesthouse (GuobinGuan) truly lived up to its name in every aspect – from the service and visual aesthetics to the overall comfort, the courtyard design, and the interior decor and color scheme. It truly allowed us travelers to relax and enjoy ourselves, both physically and mentally.
The only minor drawback was the lack of a proper wardrobe. While there was enough space to hang clothes, there wasn't a closed cabinet for smaller, loose items.
Overall, the state guesthouse provided us with a fantastic experience. Thank you! ☺️"

"Stepping into the Mercure Hangzhou Westlake Hubin was like embarking on a warm and welcoming journey. From the friendly smiles of the front desk staff to their quick and efficient check-in process, everything was incredibly smooth. They even enthusiastically told me about the hotel's special services, like the complimentary coffee and tea available during certain hours.
Walking into the room, wow, I was captivated by its elegance. The room was spacious and decorated in a simple yet stylish manner. The comfortable king-sized bed practically invited me to embrace it. The window offered a partial view of West Lake, a truly picturesque scene. In the lobby, there were vibrant green plants that added a lot of life to the atmosphere. When I returned in the evening, not only was the bed made even more comfortably, but there was also an eye mask and earplugs placed on the nightstand – such thoughtful details! And next to them, a bottle of warm milk. These little touches truly warmed my heart.
The breakfast the next day was incredibly varied and delightful. There were freshly baked, aromatic breads, along with a wide selection of fresh juices and yogurts. The hot food section also offered a rich variety of dishes that tasted fantastic. The staff moved around constantly, refilling drinks and clearing tables for guests, always with a warm smile on their faces.
The hotel's location is truly exceptional, right by West Lake. You can admire the beautiful scenery of West Lake just a few steps from the hotel entrance. There are also many unique shops and restaurants nearby, making shopping and dining incredibly convenient. Every moment I spent here made me feel incredibly comfortable and content. The Mercure Hangzhou Westlake Hubin is truly a hotel you'll fall in love with. The next time I come to Hangzhou, I will definitely choose this hotel again without hesitation, and I'll heartily recommend it to all my friends!"

This is on Line 1 which is 5 stations from Hangzhou East train station. Hotel sent reminder a few days prior, which includes directions to get there. During check in, they also prepare a pink sheet containing hotel information in English, which was very thoughtful. Initially, I was concerned the room might be dark but it turned out to be well-lit. Breakfast has an adequate spread including a live station for noodles and dumplings. The room size is good. It may not be the newest but it is modern and has interesting features eg. in-room music player. Amenities are also provided for. Some suggestions: Little bit dusty near the window area and a tinge of damp smell in the toilet, better soundproofing for the door."
