Pleasant and elegant, with just the right touch. From the welcoming staff at the entrance, to the front desk concierge, and the room and restaurant service personnel, everyone was incredibly friendly and offered help exactly when needed. It's a place that makes you feel at ease and want to return. The environment is exceptionally beautiful; a lot of effort has clearly gone into the landscaping and maintenance. Pavilions, waterside structures, long corridors... Even more remarkable is its unique location. From the observation deck on the back hill, you can gaze upon the West Lake, with its waters and the Leifeng Pagoda completely in view. Staying here allows you to exclusively enjoy that tranquility and beauty... Absolutely superb! See you again!

This hotel is great for a vacation, though the air in the rooms isn't the best, possibly due to its age and location in the mountains. (It smells a bit musty.) However, the oxygen content is high, making for a very comfortable sleep. A leisurely stroll around the lake is also very pleasant. The lake-view seating at breakfast is absolutely fantastic, and enjoying breakfast while watching the sunrise is a truly unique experience. The downside is that breakfast itself is a bit underwhelming; the semi-buffet set menu feels a bit haphazard. The crayfish noodles with thirteen-spice seasoning didn't hit the mark, and the portion of noodles was too large. I'd suggest offering a smaller portion option. The chef for dinner was excellent! The oil and salt levels were perfectly controlled, and the flavors were spot-on. The braised shrimp, stir-fried eel with scallion oil, and stir-fried loofah were all incredibly authentic. My only slight regret is that the hotel's own landscaping and small environment aren't as good as they could be (due to design and planning).

Traveling with my elderly mother, this hotel, one of the three major state guesthouses by West Lake, truly won my heart. The pros are particularly outstanding: 1. **Excellent Location**: Situated on Nanshan Road right by West Lake, it's next to the 'Orioles Singing in the Willows' scenic spot and very close to attractions like Leifeng Pagoda. You can even see Leifeng Pagoda from the hotel (I heard you can see it from some rooms). 2. **Beautiful Environment**: Bordering West Lake, it also boasts its own private garden. The garden-view twin room we stayed in offered direct views of both the garden and the lake (Picture 1), which was absolutely stunning! 3. **Attentive Service**: The staff helped us carry our luggage to the room, which was very considerate, especially since we were traveling with an elderly person. Of course, there were a few minor downsides: 1. **Small Room**: The room size didn't quite justify the price. 2. **Damp Smell**: The lobby of the building where our room was located had a slight musty smell. 3. **Average Breakfast**: The breakfast selection was quite ordinary.

The hotel was fully booked on the day of our check-in, and we arrived over an hour early. Several staff members introduced us to various activities to pass the time, including a dedicated room for movies, board games, and a swimming pool. While waiting for our room, the service and amenities at InterContinental Danyang were exceptionally warm and thoughtful. The room was a family lake-view suite, accommodating four people. The hotel's location, far from the central lake area, was incredibly tranquil, with no tourists by the lake. Away from city light pollution, we surprisingly saw the Milky Way on our first night, a rare sight in East China. The swimming pool offered different children's activities daily. The botanical garden had a vast array of flowers and butterflies, along with a koi and swan pond where we could feed the fish. The hotel's two wings also featured a lighthouse and an observation deck. The buffet dinner had everything we could ask for, and on Chinese Valentine's Day, they even gave out roses. The fish head dish at the Chinese restaurant was absolutely superb. Breakfast deserves special praise; despite the hotel being fully booked, we could order noodles via our phones, and the staff proactively asked about our coffee preferences. This is exactly the standard expected from an established InterContinental brand, and even with the summer crowd, the service and quality were uncompromised. Finally, a special shout-out to our thoughtful butler, Emily. From the moment we checked in, she was incredibly attentive. On our last day, we had an early morning departure for a yacht in the central lake area. Without hesitation, Emily helped us arrange a late check-out, even during the busy summer season. To be honest, when I heard that the InterContinental was being rebranded, I had some reservations, worrying about a potential drop in service. However, after staying here, I can confidently say that this is by far the best hotel in China, in terms of both quality and service, that we've stayed at with our child during the summer season. Both its hard and soft assets are top-notch, and its service easily rivals that of established luxury hotel brands. I rarely choose to stay at the same hotel twice in the same location, but InterContinental Danyang has made me eagerly anticipate my next visit.

Booked a lake view room and got an upgrade upon check-in. The room was quite spacious, though the decor felt a bit dated. The open-plan bathroom, with the bathtub and sink integrated into the room, was a bit unusual for me, but it was great that each room had a dehumidifier. The service was excellent; rooms were cleaned quickly, and breakfast offered a good variety, with plates cleared efficiently. Direct access to the water park from the first floor was super convenient. Lunch at the hotel was a bit pricey but tasted good. I'd definitely consider staying here again. Finally, the high-speed rail shuttle service was good, though the air conditioning in the vehicle wasn't very effective.

I saw the beautiful pool online and decided to bring my little ones for a weekend road trip with my girlfriends. However, the overall experience was just okay. We were assigned to Block B with two kids, but the pool and restaurant are all in Block A, which was quite inconvenient for going back and forth. Also, since we had two children, I asked the hotel for an extra set of kids' toiletries. They said it would be an additional charge. I've stayed in many hotels, and this is the first time I've encountered this. I could understand if it were just one child and they were unwilling to provide it, but we actually had two. The pool isn't heated, so it's not recommended for children to stay in for too long. After playing in the water, the kids kept sneezing frequently at night 🤧. Moreover, the toilets in the pool area were very dirty, especially the commodes. I suggest they improve management and make it more welcoming. On a positive note, the breakfast was excellent. All the ingredients were fresh, and the taste was great.

Honestly, the online complaints about this place are completely justified. Check-in at 5 PM and check-out at 12 PM – I haven't seen such an absurd schedule in ages. Most of the 'GO' activities are in the afternoon, many of them water-based. So, are you expected to change into a swimsuit without a room, or participate after checking out? If you really want to join the activities, you need to stay at least two days. But are the activities offered here truly worth a two-day stay? The difference between all-inclusive and non-all-inclusive mainly lies in the meals, and honestly, I don't think that extra money is worth it. The dinner environment and preparation were decent. Lunch is from 12 PM to 2 PM, but by 1:15 PM, all six stir-fry stations were empty, and there was a huge queue for lamb skewers. Forget about the cold seafood, it was long gone. Even the 'NPCs' (staff) couldn't keep up with the demand. The snacks and cakes served all day, from morning to night, were exactly the same – no variety or thought put into them. What I found unacceptable were the blue and green glass cups for water. Maybe it's the material, but they constantly felt sticky. If you've been to other Club Med resorts and expect energetic GOs or to sit down and chat with them, don't get your hopes up. The GOs here just felt like regular service staff to me.

Firm bed, big spacious room with no lingering smell of cigarette despite smoking is allowed in certain rooms. Received a complimentary breakfast from front desk staff Alex, very nice of him. Breakfast is good, offering mostly local food and a few western pastries but if I have to pay, I would rather eat out for more authentic experience. The washing machine in room is definitely helpful amenity so I don’t have to queue at the laundry room to sort out washing and drying. However, the washing machine is very noisy so staff should let guests know best to wash during the day or before they head out and not at night like we did as we have to paused the drying as the loud noise is preventing sleep. They can improve the staffing during day time because I arrived around 1pm, no one helped with luggage, the door was very heavy so it’s one thing to manage luggage up the curb side and it’s another to drag the luggage through the heavy door and then I realised there was only 1 staff working at that hour, and he was overwhelmed with requests left and right from guests, calls to delivery service so staffing need to be adequate during day time as through the day there will be a lot of guests interactions and having staff to respond timely improves experience and impression of hotel. This hotel is nestled by the water, surrounded by abundant natural beauty. Its design cleverly blends nature and a sense of divinity, with lakeside rooms offering incredible tranquility, perfect for a relaxing and healing getaway. The overall style is modern and chic, and the rooms are warmly furnished with excellent natural light. The specially designed lighting and color palette create a comfortable ambiance. The butler service is meticulous, with thoughtful arrangements before and after check-in, and they are always available when needed. They are very attentive, warm, and friendly. We were traveling with our child, and the butler got along wonderfully with our baby, so I highly recommend it for families. The service is efficient and problems during our stay were promptly resolved. They also offer wellness programs and activities like sound healing, spa treatments, and afternoon tea. The hotel's cuisine is vegetarian, with exquisite and delicious dishes. In short, I highly, highly recommend it! It's a charming hotel I'd definitely visit again.

Location: About a 5-minute walk to Duanqiao (Broken Bridge), taking the exit opposite the revolving door in the lobby makes it even closer. It's super convenient for exploring West Lake. This is the absolute main highlight!!! The coffee shop in the lobby on the first floor is beautifully decorated with lots of greenery. Room: We had a twin mountain view room with a balcony, overlooking Baoshi Mountain. The room, bathroom, and balcony were all very spacious. Facilities: Quite old and worn. Even the toilet seat was faded and mottled. The wardrobe was inside the bathroom, which was a bit unusual. The TV size and distance from the bed weren't ideal; it was a bit of a strain to watch TV while relaxing in bed. Cleanliness: Generally well-maintained. Breakfast: A wide variety of options, with an excellent selection of fruits. The freshly made noodles were the best.
