I was a bit worried after reading some reviews before my trip, which mentioned outdated facilities, small, somewhat cramped rooms, and a disappointing breakfast. However, after staying for two days myself, I found it to be absolutely wonderful, with no issues or discomfort. The hotel's ambiance perfectly captures the essence of Suzhou gardens, and every window offers a unique and pleasant view, truly lifting your spirits. The rooms themselves were clean, tidy, and certainly didn't feel cramped at all. Breakfast was 68 RMB per person, and we opted for it on both days of our stay. It felt very much worth the price – delicious and with a good variety of dishes. The hotel boasts both indoor and outdoor swimming pools with clean water, and they were quite popular with children. We also tried a few of the hotel's restaurants. None of them disappointed; the food at each was fantastic, and I highly recommend trying them out. The Panmen Scenic Area is stunning in the evening, making it a great place to visit with others.

The hotel is in a great location, short walk to train station. Room is dated but still clean and comfortable. Noted that they have started doing renovation on certain floors The room facilities & toiletries are good, especially the powerful Laifen hairdryer😍 which is lacking in other hotels. Free minibar too!😍
Front desk staff are warm & helpful. Special thanks to Tan Liang who helped to us with Didi Taxi booking and asked the doorman to tell the driver to drop us at the specific entrance at the Railway Station.

We had a lakeview club room. The view was stunning, calming in the day and vibrant at night. The club lounge was relaxing and the staff extremely helpful and polite. Transport links were excellent with a metro station close by and many of the city’s sights a short distance away. The Jinji lake area is full of attractions in its own right with the Music Fountain a particular highlight. The only minor point is a lack of decaffeinated tea and coffee as an option in the hotel. Otherwise, excellent!

If you want a classic ”Shouzhou Garden Hotel” experience with a family feel. this is it!!! The boss himself is doing the gardening, service, even the bell boy task. (he carried our suitcase to the car pick up spot due to May 1 crowds, the shuttle could not drive through :-) The room is beautifully decoed in chinese style furniture, the garden is gorgeous. and the add on free ”shouzhou traditional opera, singing and talk show ” are performed in the garden, blended in with its beautiul garden setting. only suggestion is do avoid Chines public holiday season, beside tripled hotel cost, the water village at the door step lost a bit atmosphere with shoulder to shoulder tourists:-) But the hotel is top notch!!!

Driven by the excellent food and service at the Horizon Club, I switched from Shangri-La Yangzhou to Shangri-La Nanjing, embarking on another culinary adventure.
1. **Location**: The Shangri-La Hotel Nanjing boasts an excellent location. It's just one subway stop from Nanjing Railway Station, and the hotel is right next to the subway exit, making it incredibly convenient for exploring other attractions by metro.
2. **Guest Room**: A huge thank you to Manager Xiao Jiang at the Horizon Club for arranging the only lake-view suite on the 41st floor and for granting me a late check-out until 3 PM. The room was spacious and bright, with a generously sized living room and bedroom, both featuring full floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning views of Purple Mountain and Xuanwu Lake. However, as the hotel has been open for some time, the room design inevitably had a few drawbacks. Firstly, there was no separate walk-in closet in the suite; I had to go into the washroom to change. Secondly, the luggage counter was rather small and high, which would be inconvenient for guests with a lot of luggage. Thankfully, the housekeeping staff quickly brought a luggage rack, providing a proper spot for my suitcase. Most importantly, the toilet in the bathroom wasn't separated by a door; it was openly situated next to the vanity, which significantly compromised privacy and convenience. While not a smart toilet, the heated seat was a comfortable touch.
3. **Dining**: The Horizon Club's dining options certainly lived up to Shangri-La's standards, with breakfast, afternoon tea, and happy hour all being very lavish. However, perhaps due to the sheer number of guests, the management felt a bit disorganized. Not only did the kitchen's food quality seem to decline—some dishes were bland, making me wonder if salt was forgotten or if they weren't cooked evenly—but the service quality also appeared to struggle. During breakfast, I asked a Horizon Club staff member if they could get me some Laoganma chili sauce from the downstairs restaurant, but they replied they couldn't leave their post. I then asked a chef, who promised to bring it, but perhaps they were too busy or forgot, as it only arrived after I had finished my meal. It felt like Nanjing's approach was different from Yangzhou's; the upstairs and downstairs restaurants seemed strictly segregated, preventing staff from cross-fetching items. What confused me, though, was that the soup dumplings I ordered and the pan-fried dumplings I picked up were clearly from the downstairs restaurant, as they arrived a bit cold. At Shangri-La Yangzhou's Horizon Club, staff would either ask the chefs or personally retrieve items upon request. Nevertheless, I must say, the à la carte duck blood vermicelli soup, seaweed wontons, beef noodles, and Eggs Benedict at the Horizon Club breakfast were quite good.
The next day, when I had breakfast on the second floor, I discovered that, just as other reviews mentioned, the downstairs restaurant offered a much more extensive spread. There was a wide variety of Western breads and pastries, including large and fragrant caramelized egg tarts kept warm in a warmer, maintaining their fresh-from-the-oven quality. They also had trendy items like butter mochi, mochi yolk pastries, and kid-friendly treats like marshmallows, popcorn, and mini cupcakes—my eyes were truly overwhelmed by the choices. The Chinese section boasted delicious handmade soup dumplings, beef potstickers, siew mai, large pork buns, and duck blood vermicelli soup. Even the whole grain options like sweet potatoes and corn looked impressively large and generously prepared. However, when I asked the staff if I could order Eggs Benedict, they said they had never heard of it.
Honestly, when evaluating a hotel's dining, I often prioritize whether they offer handmade food, especially at breakfast. I particularly dislike places that are filled entirely with reprocessed frozen foods; it just feels very insincere. Finally, I must also thank Sherry from the hotel's pastry shop for the delicious mini cakes and mung bean cakes delivered to our room. They were a wonderful surprise and a comforting treat after being out.
4. **Scenery**: Of course, a visit to Shangri-La Nanjing wouldn't be complete without checking out their rooftop helipad, but unfortunately, the weather wasn't good, so I missed out on the rumored stunning views. However, what I was very pleased with was the short walk—just a few minutes—from the hotel to Xuanwu Lake. It happened to be the lotus season, and strolling by the lake, I was greeted by the sight of 'lotus leaves stretching endlessly green to the sky, and lotus flowers under the sun glowing with a unique red.' As far as the eye could see, vast expanses of lotus leaves, like small umbrellas, swayed in the wind, creating gentle green ripples. Pink and white lotus blossoms bloomed in profusion, dotted amongst the green foliage, appearing exceptionally clear and elegant. Colorful pleasure boats crisscrossing the lake added a vibrant touch to Xuanwu Lake.
In summary, I was generally satisfied with this stay. At check-out, I even received some delightful hotel-made palmiers, which was a lovely touch. I will definitely choose Shangri-La again on my next trip to Nanjing.
I stayed at Wanda Realm Hotel this time, and I loved it! The lobby is so bright and spacious, and it looks high-end and refreshing. The room is also clean and tidy, and the bedding is very comfortable. Once I lie down, I feel relaxed and all the fatigue of the day has disappeared. The front desk service is even better, the attitude is super good, and the speed of checking in is done in a flash. They also recommended me many fun places around, and it feels like having a private tour guide. The breakfast is also super rich, with both Chinese and Western styles. Even a picky eater like me can find what I like. The location of the hotel is also very good, with Metro Exit 5 right outside the door, so it is convenient to go anywhere. Going to Nanjing South Railway Station or the airport, there is no need to worry about transportation problems. Next time I will definitely come here again, and I won’t consider other places!

Awesome location and extraordinary services!! Especially when we need to change the room from our first booking to second booking (with different family members so we have 3 different bookings), REN JUN DANIEL provided extraordinary services!!
This hotel is the first Hilton (changed to Grand Metro now) in Nanjing, 10 minute from Zhong Shan Landmarks, close to every where. Although not brand new, but the services and location make up every thing. Buffet breakfast has all kinds of different style gourmet, and changing every day.

The staff are very friendly and do their best to accommodate any requests. The location is excellent, situated very close to a subway station entrance. There are also many attractions nearby, such as canal cruises, as well as numerous restaurants within walking distance.
One downside is that the hotel occupies only part of a multi-purpose building—specifically the 5th, 6th, and 7th floors—so it might be a bit difficult to find at first. When your phone navigation leads you to the location, be s

AAnonymous UserArrived at front desk to do checkin, male front desk attended to me and did my check-in. Shared that he did a free upgrade for us, and asked for a 5star review. (But i believe in an honest review)
Then came the deposit collection of 500RMB. Site show Cash/Credit/Alipay/Wechat Pay. Since i have excess cash with no use, i decide to do cash deposit. Not to mention site shows *non cash deposit may take 2-4 weeks to refund* The guy gave an unwilling face to receive it and wanted a change of deposit method, asking if i have Alipay or WeChat pay since ”We dont even use cash in china mainland anymore. We all use ewallets. Also, you giving cash deposit will require longer checkout process as it is more tedious” When i shared that this was excess cash with no use as i also use Alipay, he asked me to change my deposit method.
Next we wanted to do laundry, but it was a chargeable (?) facility. Other hotels are giving free laundry but here at this *5star* hotel is chargeable..? Nevertheless, for obvious reason, we can't use the self laundry service because it requires an APP installation and account setup that can only be tied to a local number, which we do not have as a tourist. When attended to front desk, we had to ask for specifically their help to run the washer and the first thing the male front desk ask was ”i can help you run it, but how do you want to pay me for the fees later?”
Went up to the laundry room with him at level 2 and he was enquiring if we can do Alipay or WeChat pay for the fees before he even assist with the wash. It was merely a 5RMB! Immediately ask for me to add him on WeChat and facilitate payment at soonest.
Free gifts by hotel - we only tried out the canal cruise. But of cos, for the reservation with hotel is 2H prior, but to receive the reservation details is with local number. Since I have already added their WeChat so they sent me the booking details with the local number confirmation. But we had issues at cruise to scan the QR code as it was not the right one.
Breakfast, basic spread i'd say. Not the best, quite limited but i suppose it's sufficient for filling up your empty stomach before finding alternative outside.
Room size is definitely spacious since ”upgrade” was given.
We transported around with DiDi but the drop off lobby is so tight that the drivers made us board the car on main road with so many cars moving, which can be quite dangerous especially we still have to check the carplate numbers.
Metro station, however, is just across the street. Which is very accessible for guest doing public transport.
All in all, i would say the hotel offers a very comfortable sleep for the room amenities but the hotel facilities and service requires more improvement.

WWGZ TanOur recent two-night stay at the Suzhou Kimpton Bamboo Grove Hotel exceeded all expectations, creating a memorable experience that exemplifies luxury hospitality at its finest.
From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by their adorable canine ambassador, Kylie the Labrador, setting the tone for the warm hospitality to follow. The check-in service was remarkably efficient, with special recognition to Rainbow who ensured our party of three couples, including elderly parents, received accessible room upgrades. The staff's attentiveness was evident throughout our stay—they greeted us in corridors, anticipated our needs, and maintained a perfect balance of professionalism and friendliness.
The rooms were impeccable, featuring premium bedding, turndown service, and high-end amenities including Dyson hair dryers. The quality of in-room offerings far surpassed what one would typically expect from a hotel at this price, demonstrating their commitment to excellence down to the smallest detail.
The property beautifully integrates historical courtyards and buildings, creating tranquil outdoor spaces perfect for relaxation. Bar 168 became our favorite evening gathering spot for social hour and drinks, offering the perfect atmosphere to unwind after exploring the city. We were there during a heat wave and were perfectly contented to not leave the hotel at all.
Breakfast was truly an event worth anticipating each morning at their black pearl rated restaurant. The diverse selection included both Western and Chinese cuisine, with standout features being the made-to-order noodles, wonton, and egg station. We particularly appreciated how staff consistently offered tea or coffee upon arrival, ensuring we always had a warm beverage to enjoy with our meal.
The hotel's strategic location offers unparalleled convenience—situated directly above an MRT station and adjacent to a modern shopping area. For those seeking cultural experiences, a short 15-minute walk leads to the historical tourist district, making this property perfect for first-time visitors to Suzhou through winding neighbourhood streets.
We extend our gratitude to Cherry for a smooth checkout process, and even the hotel's merchandise—particularly the keychains—provided charming mementos of our stay.
The Suzhou Kimpton Bamboo Grove Hotel represents hospitality at its finest, and we cannot recommend it highly enough for travelers seeking an exceptional experience in Suzhou.

GGuest UserThe hotel is located in the core area of Pingjiang Road. It is right in the downtown area. It takes about ten minutes to walk to Suzhou Museum and Humble Administrator's Garden.
The hotel is renovated from an old house, retaining the style of Suzhou gardens. The environment is quiet and it is separated from the downtown by a wall.
There is a row of areas for making tea around the stove along the river in the hotel. It is very pleasant to blow the breeze in the warm spring afternoon.
This time, the child's birthday, the hotel provided a parent-child room, and also sent a very cute cake, and equipped with birthday props, which is really considerate.
The room is spacious, equipped with a bathtub and smart toilet, and the cloakroom and dressing table are large enough. Fruits, drinks, snacks, good night sweet soup, and Chinese and Western breakfast are all included.
If you drive, park in the parking lot opposite, and stay in the hotel for free.
WeChat butler service all day, special thanks to the front desk lady surnamed Xu, the service is very good, thoughtful and attentive. I will stay here next time I go to Suzhou.

ZZhengAfter staying for three consecutive nights, the final night turned out to be an extremely unpleasant experience.
A group of loud and inconsiderate local women checked into the room next to mine. They were shouting and making noise late into the night, keeping me awake until 11:30 PM, and then woke me up again at 5 AM. I called the front desk twice to report the situation, and even walked to their door in my pajamas to record the noise they were making. I paid over RMB 1,450 for that night, yet I believe these guests, likely part of a tour group, probably paid very little—if anything at all. Situations like this shouldn't happen even in a well-managed budget hotel, let alone in a five-star, landmark hotel in Wuxi.
If we say that guest behavior is beyond the hotel’s control, then what happened the next morning, on the day of my checkout, was even more baffling.
The hotel changed its name overnight. The well-known management brand Hyatt officially parted ways with the hotel owner, and this hotel, once under a globally recognized brand, became a local one overnight. Staff morale was visibly low, and many seemed to face the uncertainty of possible unemployment, which clearly weighed on their minds.
In the breakfast area, at the yogurt station, I couldn’t find a bowl to serve yogurt. I asked two different staff members for assistance, but both of them responded with blank expressions and said absolutely nothing to me. I felt completely ignored—even invisible.
While I had only planned to report the disruptive guests, the indifference of the breakfast staff truly triggered my frustration. I immediately called to file a formal complaint. The hotel's Guest Experience Manager met with me in person, offered a sincere apology, and after learning more about the situation behind the scenes, I accepted the explanation and chose to forgive.
As luck would have it, when I checked out, I ended up sharing the elevator with the same group of disruptive women. Their loud conversation inside the elevator sounded like a chorus of honking cars on a busy street. Instinctively, I raised my voice and shouted at them—and suddenly, the entire elevator went silent. Was it just a coincidence? I wasn’t angry anymore, but somehow, I felt vindicated.
That’s the end of the story. I’m on the plane now, finally heading back to Sydney, Australia.

JJiaxingzuihoudesaobaoWe booked a private family room, and the housekeeper, Ms. Zhou, checked us in and took us to the guest room. The room has a large bed and a small bed. The bathing pool is in the yard. If you need to soak in the hot spring, just tell Ms. Zhou and she will happily come over and help fill the hot spring water. She is a very nice person. I really like her. No. I had to go to the public hot springs to soak with others, it was very comfortable. I also went to Nanshan Bamboo Sea. The air was very good. I had a very good accommodation experience this time. I will go there often in the future!
DDidiaoThe service needs to be improved. Before entering the room, mineral water and slippers were placed on the floor at the door, and you had to pick them up yourself. To be honest, I have never seen such a thing in any hotel I have stayed in. Also, the night light in the room I stayed in occasionally flickered, probably because it was broken. Other aspects were ok, the room decoration style was good, and the decoration was quite new.
RRuthWe were happy with our stay here. The room was nicer than it looked online, and the hotel was really clean. There are playrooms for young children that are free (3 rooms with some different toys in each room). The rooms are a bit old and tired, but my 2 year old enjoyed playing there and requested UK hi back lots of times. For parents it is just great to have somewhere for your kid to play and have fun, especially as the weather was very cold when we went! Outside there is a play area and sand digging pit. Location is walking distance from Tongli old town. Restaurant does evening buffet, and buffet breakfast. The food is fine, more Chinese than western, my husband really liked it and my favourite part was the Beijing roast duck at dinner. The pool is warm, with floats and rubber rings to borrow. There is a little land train, it takes a 10 minute trip around the hotel grounds and the cost is 20RMB for one adult and child. For me it was very boring but my son loved it 😂
The staff are very warm and friendly, everyone is very professional. Each guest is connected to a butler on wechat before they arrive so you can easily send a message and get some help. Our butler is Yu Ting and she helped us very professionally.
For me, the things the hotel can improve are (1) the animal petting zoo - by western standard the facilities for the animals are not very good, just concrete enclosure with hut. For foreigners, we do not really like this. (2) We had a problem with the other guests smoking in the hotel, eg in the coffee bar. When I complained to the staff they tried to stop the guests, but even though they repeatedly reminded them to stop, the other guests continued. In the end they arranged for me to move to a private room near the bar where I could avoid the smoking. I was very grateful that they found a solution for me and my baby, but I am speechless there are such guests who flagrantly break the rules and the hotel cannot stop them. We smelled smoke in some different public areas, so maybe this is a problem with several guests 🙁
Overall we are happy with our stay and it is a good place to spend a few days with kids.
GGuest UserHotel overall good even though a bit rub down after its opening 15years ago. Staff very nice and rooms are very clean even though the furniture has some marks here and there (we stayed 65th floor). The breakfast we did not try as it was too expensive.
However what was really disgusting was the sauna/spa area. The pool itself was closed but the changing room that includes the sauna and a hot tub was really run down, dirty and stained everywhere. Apparently nobody has really cleaned it for years. The water in the hot tub was brownish.
My wife said the ladies rooms looked considerably better though.

GGuest User## Environment:
Excellent! The hotel is clearly designed for large conferences, so it's incredibly spacious – it actually felt larger than the entire Xizha scenic area in Wuzhen! Located right on Tongli Lake, it boasts absolute prime lake views and is within walking distance of the ancient town. The landscaping and overall greenery are very high-end and luxurious.
## Cleanliness:
Lacks attention to detail. The lakeside pavilions had quite a few cobwebs and bird droppings. There were also cobwebs outside the room window. The Daguan Garden area is currently under renovation, which made that section look a bit desolate.
## Room:
This time we had a standard room. While no lake view was understandable, the window faced another room's window, which was pitch dark and a bit eerie at night – I'm not sure if it was a conference room. There was absolutely no greenery outside, as you can see from the pictures. I believe this is the area that most urgently needs improvement.
## Service:
The service was excellent. The staff were attentive, always greeted us with smiles, and were very professional.
## Facilities:
Also very impressive. The swimming pool was exceptionally clean, with several sprinklers inside, making it very suitable for children. It was a pity we didn't bring our swimsuits this time. We did play table tennis, and the court was good. There's also golf, but we couldn't go due to the rain.
## Breakfast:
Mediocre. The dining area was quite small, and the variety of food was limited. It didn't match the hotel's overall standard, and disappointingly, the venue didn't offer lake views either. It felt like the entire long lakeside wasn't well utilized for dining, which is a real shame.
## Other Points:
We purchased a package deal this time. The package included 'Tongli Night Tour,' which we initially assumed meant the hotel would provide tickets or some sort of activity. However, there was nothing of the sort; it merely implied you could go to Tongli Ancient Town yourself at night. How can this be included in a package? I find it misleading. Furthermore, the minibar only contained four Master Kong soft drinks, which felt very stingy.
## Overall:
The hotel's hardware facilities, stunning views, and service level are all up to par. Despite some minor issues, it is still highly recommended.
