This was my first trip to Japan's Tohoku region. The Richmond Hotel Morioka is visible right after exiting the JR station. When traveling in Japan, I generally choose hotels near JR stations for their unparalleled convenience in dining, accommodation, transportation, and shopping. I'm especially pleased with the Richmond Morioka. The rooms are slightly larger than hotels in other cities, and the floor-to-ceiling windows make them feel bright and airy. The cleanliness and facilities were satisfactory, and the front desk staff provided excellent service. The check-in/check-out times were better than in other areas. The bedding was very comfortable, and the hotel's soundproofing was excellent, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. If I visit the Tohoku region again, I'll definitely use Morioka as my base, and the Richmond will undoubtedly be my top choice.
The service is outstanding since my first step into the hotel. The room is big like i can run around. Breakfast is great. Plenty of good food served as japanese set. Onsen is really comfortable. I went there in summer that there were not many tourists. So sometime, there was only me in the onsen. It was very quiet peaceful and relaxing
A mark for those who books for dinner excluded bundle. There are rarely any restaurant around. There is one in front of the street corner (5mins walk) but the opening time and date could not be expected. You can find something to eat from Family mart (20 mins walk).
This is a highly recommended and convenient hotel right in Morioka. The location is perfect: it's situated directly across from the train station, easily accessible via the underground walkway. It's also near Kaiunbashi, one of Morioka's signature spots, offering a great scenic view. For ultimate convenience, there's a 7-Eleven located right on the ground floor of the hotel.
Beyond the location, the staff are very nice and incredibly helpful. The lobby provides an impressive array of amenities, more generous than many hotels I've visited. The room size is comfortable, and the bathroom is spacious, meeting the excellent standards of the Daiwa Roynet brand.
The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of Morioka Station, right next to Round One. The building itself isn't huge. If you've paid in advance, you can use the self-service checkout, which is really convenient for catching an early train. The room, although small, is fully equipped and everything is new and clean. They provide coffee and tea, and you can boil water in your room. There's also hot water available in the hallway. The in-room kettle and toilet were very clean, and the pajamas and bedding felt new too. As a place for a backpacker on the go to rest their head, it's faultless, but it might not be ideal for tourists.
The check-in staff introduced the hotel attentively and cleaned the room attentively. The ski rental staff are very patient.
But the quality of the food in the restaurant is average, and all the shrimps in the seafood are rotten. And some of the waiters are not polite to the guests.

The inn is a bit old and caters mostly to group tours. However, overall it's a traditional hot spring inn. The breakfast was quite substantial. I would definitely come again.
The hotel's location is excellent, just a 3-minute walk to Kaiun Bridge. Parking is mechanical and costs 1100 JPY per day. The in-room toiletries are from DHC, which is a nice touch! What truly stands out, however, is the hotel's breakfast on the top floor. The view is absolutely stunning, with clear sights of Mount Iwate. The restaurant staff are incredibly energetic and friendly – they truly deserve praise! The cleaning staff were also very polite.
家族旅行で利用しました。3月に訪れてから2度目の宿泊です。温泉の湯でお肌がもちもちするのでお気に入りです。朝食や夕食も大満足!
I stayed here for a family vacation, this is my second stay after visiting in March. I love the hot spring water because it makes my skin glutinous. Breakfast and dinner are also very satisfying!
This hotel is perfect for family ski trips. The facilities are excellent, and it's very convenient for skiing. Both breakfast and dinner offer a great variety of food. The shuttle bus to the station is also very handy. Remember to book your ski rentals in advance, and there's a dedicated storage area for your gear.
A smart, neat, clean hotel with efficient check-in and luggage storage. Room was adequate with a lovely large window for city views and distant snowy mountains. Bathroom nice with a largish bath. Bed was very comfortable with the large, puffy duvet. Enjoyable 2 night stay.

Amazing
I chose this hotel again because of its convenient location (just opposite to the JR station ) and it’s excellent lounge (free drinks provided from 1pm to 8pm). The staff were nice. I must choose this hotel again.
TTommy847Great place !! Staff were great and very friendly. Room is considered big for my party of 3 . My room has a nice view of the water . Food were great too . Will stay here again
MMissCDThe best ski in and ski out and Onsen hotel in Japan so far! We loved the hotel so much in Oct 2025 so we rebooked and came again from Dec 20-24, 2025. 1. Very convenient for ski experience. Ski in and ski out. Ski rental and ski coach school are just besides hotel. Good experience for rentals and coaches hiring. 2. Breakfast and dinner buffets are great and so yummy! The food does change every night to give you diversified variation to choose from. Very delicate food preparations by great chefs so don’t worry you will never get bored. 3. Onsen is also great great great! Great view and women and men get alternate the hot spring pool everyday. 4. First floor relaxing area is great great! You have self service bar of juice / soda / coffee and popsicles. 5. The hotel staffs are so nice and make you feel at home. Motoyo-San is extremely friendly and her English is so fluent!!! We were very lucky to have her help out during our stay. 6. 3rd floor is newly renovated so pls try this beautiful room next time! Highly recommend!!!! Great for family and couple trips!
The location is good for the family ski holiday with all facilities available for this ski-in/ski-out hotel. The breakfast has a good variety while the dinner options are good especially the Teppanyaki restaurant with the local beef and abalone. The Japanese restaurant was also good with various dishes to choose from. The outdoor onsen at 白樺之湯 really worth the visit after the ski and I’d recommend to enjoy at day time. We have also tried the hotel massage services and it was really good and relaxing! The only thing for improvement is that the room themselves are a bit old and maybe should consider renovations in coming years. The shops have many food and drinks and souvenirs. We also got a big pack of fireworks that we can pay together with kids just outside the hotel on the snow slope. Overall we enjoyed the stay and the slopes and ski school are magnificent!

Good place to stay for the price with basic amenities. It's near the station though there's nothing interesting nearby. Need to head to the other side of the station for more food options.
Conveniently located beside JR Morioka station and Iwate Galaxy Railway (IGR) Line with the bus terminus across the road in front of the hotel and also housed within the same building as the FESAN Shopping Mall. Room was spacious and the breakfast (buffet style) in the hotel’s Chinese restaurant was good. City sightseeing bus stops at 5pm so I opted to walk to Morioka Castle/Park which took about 20mins to reach.
Lovely and helpful staff. Enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the onsen every night. The food was really good too. Every day different new discoveries.
I chose this hotel for a short stay in Morioka and specifically needed on-site parking, which it delivers conveniently within the same building. The rooms are clean and feel noticeably more luxurious compared to many older hotels in Japan. The interior finishes are modern, well maintained, and immediately give a sense of quality. The lobby is spacious and welcoming, making arrival and check-in comfortable rather than cramped. Overall, this is a practical and well-executed choice for travelers who need parking without compromising on room quality or comfort.
