Don't judge a book by its cover. This hotel inside is modern and quite contract with its old outlook. Very generous choice of breakfast and very friendly staff.
Picture is outlook outside our window.
I booked a room with a high floor city view online but they just gave me a room with low floor garden view. Therefore, I asked them to change the room with a city view for me.
They assigned me to a low floor city view this time. I've already given up on the levels of the floor aiming to make everyone's life easier. However, I discovered that the door can't be locked and the sink drains really slow in a speed that is honestly unacceptable in my new room. I was really frustrated to go down to the reception to change a new room again.
As a 4 star hotel, I'm absolutely disappointed that they didn't even have the intention to come up to my room and pass me a new room key with apologies but instead, they asked me to go down with all my luggages to pick up a new room key TWICE.
Poor service attitude from the reception lady with a long blonde hair and big round eyes, naming ”Cindy”.
The room is modern and spacious but the door lock can't function properly still. Plus, there're only TWO complimentary bottles of water per stay (no matter how long your stay is), so it's quite inconvenient that you need to buy the water in the lobby at a higher price or anywhere before you return to the hotel.
The location of the hotel is good, there're bus, metro, fast food restaurants, Starbucks nearby with a very nice city landscape.
Having just returned from Madrid, Spain, I found this place incredibly spacious, authentically European in style, and very cozy by comparison. Although there was a minor hiccup – a curtain fixture accidentally fell off the wall, likely due to the building's age – I still quite liked its classic charm. Moreover, the building's location is superb, right at the entrance of a major metro hub. You can get off the airport express, cross the road, and be at the hotel – absolutely no need for a taxi for check-in. Overall, the experience was fantastic. The gentleman at the front desk was exceptionally elegant and polite, making it feel akin to staying at Shanghai's legendary Peace Hotel.
Fantastic! This stay truly exceeded my expectations. The location is excellent, and the hotel's environment is very pleasant. The facilities are modern and new. It offers a standard comparable to a European 4-star hotel, yet comes at a very affordable price. Highly recommended!
I would be happy to provide an excellent review for Continental Hotel in Budapest. My experience at the hotel was fantastic. The room was tidy and clean, and the location was excellent, close to the city center and the great synagogue. The pool and sauna were also great amenities. Most importantly, I would like to give a special thanks to the excellent service provided by the hotel staff, who was extremely helpful during my stay. Overall, I highly recommend the Continental Hotel for anyone visiting Budapest.
This hotel was clean and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We had lunch at The River Bar which was reasonably priced and the food was good, / We did not have breakfast so cannot comment on that.
The room was clean, slightly dated but had everything you needed. The Spa was clean, would recommend to bring sliders/crocs as the floor in the swimming pool area was very slippy, although the hotel does provide a robe and slippers. One of the saunas was out of action but they had other ones available to use. In terms of location it is slightly out of the way, which was nice as it was quiet. We got a taxi and used the tram to get to the city centre which was fairly simple.
Overall very good value to stay here and very good that the spa facilities is included at no extra fee.
I would recommend!
Many Thanks :)
Free spa. Group package hotel. You'll have to wait in line in the morning. Be sure to check for mosquitoes in the room. Also, the towels are very worn, which is a bit uncomfortable. Good value.
Location very good near metro station
Clean hotel and quiet
Staff is helpful and nice
Easy check in &out
Breakfast below average but still good for us not need much
Overall recommend to stay
Thanks
First time in this elegant city, the City Hotel was clean and tidy and better than expected.
Quiet accommodation, hearty breakfast, convenient environment, and everything to eat nearby.
I would like to mention that when I went to the airport in the morning, the hotel prepared a warm breakfast.
The service was perfect. Really happy.

Great
GGuest UserCarlton Hotel is truly excellent. Its location is superb, being very close to Buda Castle, just a 5-minute walk away, and only 200 meters from the western end of the Széchenyi Chain Bridge. While not a large hotel, it is exceptionally clean, and the service is outstanding.
Despite arriving early in the morning, well before the standard 3 PM check-in time, the reception staff were incredibly accommodating and allowed me to check in at 11 AM. The room was modern and impeccably clean.
Upon check-out, Ms. Reka not only gifted me with honey but also kindly arranged a taxi for me.
Carlton Hotel truly stands out as one of the best hotels here. I will definitely be returning on my next visit.
AAbbeyLocated centrally within a short walk to a number of good bars, restaurants and cafes however it can get noisy until the early hours of the morning. The apartment was compact but big enough for 2 people however the bed was a very small queen. There was only 1 coffee capsule for 2 people staying and although there were lots of electrical sockets, they were all for European plugs and not one had a USB connection which would be far more useful for most travellers. The bathroom mirror was laughable - I’m 5ft 2” and could just see the top of my head in it!
Instructions to gain entry were emailed on check-in day, which also included downloading an app. This would’ve been useful to know prior to travelling.
GGary "Tom" ThomasFrom the warm welcome by the reception team, to the comfortable rooms, nice and great value dinner and fantastic breakfast we were delighted that we chose to stay here before flying home. When we're next overnighting Budapest Airport we'll definitely be staying here.
RRoxyThe park plaza was a last minute choice for us as we had originally booked into an extremely horrifying Airbnb but we were so lucky to book their last room! It’s in such a prime location with a beautiful view of the parliament building and tram / metro stops within a 5 min walk.
The staff were really accommodating and informative and always smiling which is so lovely to see in the morning.
The only issue we experienced was the malfunctioning AC but they tried their best to resolve it and even offered a room change and complimentary drinks to show their care.
Overall, it was a great stay and I will definitely look to them next time k go to Budapest. Thank you!
GGuest UserAbsolutely great location. Customer service is top notch. Had to wait around 20 mins for check in though but would say that the hotel is great if you want to stay in the centre

--Nancy-Overall, our stay at the Mercure Budapest Castle Hill Hotel was okay as there were some areas that could be improved. The hotel front area had a warm and inviting ambience, which was nice.
Upon arrival, we requested a top-floor room, but the staff recommended keeping our current room as it offered a better view. We appreciated their insight and decided to stay where we were. The hotel’s location was decent—about a 20–30 minute walk to the city area, making it manageable.
The bedroom itself was spacious and comfortable, providing plenty of room to relax. However, the bathroom and toilet were quite small, which made them feel a bit cramped. Additionally, while the room was clean, the bathroom was less so. We noticed hair left behind, and there was little to no body wash gel provided. The towels were dirty upon arrival, requiring us to request new ones on the first day.
One frustrating experience was with the housekeeping staff. On our second morning, we wanted to sleep in, but were interrupted twice—once at 10 AM and again at 11 AM—by a cleaner knocking to check when we would be leaving. When I confirmed that the checkout time was indeed 12 noon, I didn’t understand why they felt the need to rush us out. It felt unnecessary and a bit intrusive.
Despite these issues, our stay was generally fine. If the hotel could improve housekeeping efficiency, ensure cleaner bathrooms and amenities, and provide a bit more space in the bathroom area, it would be an even better experience.
MMing886The hotel is in a great location, with easy access, and is a five-minute walk from the airport bus station. The room is simple and elegant, and it is very convenient to go anywhere. I will choose to stay here again next time.
CCyrilleNice pool, very clean and not a lot of people. Breakfast is expensive so I didn't take it.
Beds are great, big and firm but not hard.
Well located just at the entrance of metro line 2 that goes pretty much everywhere nice.

AAnastasiiaThank you for a perfect stay. Quiet place with a picturesque view, thermal pools, not far from historical city center. I will recommend this hotel for a nice vacation in Budapest.
