Pros: beach front, easy access to the beach, tranquility around the lounge beach chairs. Friendly staff Cons: hotel is dated, shower was too small. There were cucarachas coming off the AC vents. Staff came to address it right away, however. There are not elevators and it is difficult to bring luggage to 2nd and 3rd floors. The place was not design for people with mobility issues. Also people are allowed with dogs unleashed. One small dog came after me. When I approach the dog’s owner to ask if he could put his dog on a leash, he became belligerent, disrespectful, and a kind of racist. The hotel staff watched and did nothing. When I ask for the manager to complaint I was told she was on vacation (?) when I ask for whoever was in charge, I was also told that person was also unavailable. It was frustrating and disappointing as that was a safety issue that remained unaddressed.

I just finished my stay at the Gran Ventana Resort, and while there were some nice things, overall I had a very poor experience and they run a scam operation, use caution when booking this resort. Immediately upon my arrival I attempted to check in and was told that my fiancé was not allowed to stay in the resort with my booking. She is from the Dominican Republic and according to Gran Ventana my booking was for foreigners only. They proceeded to charge me 40% more than my original booking, only because I was with my fiancé who is Dominican. I was planning on meeting with a wedding coordinator and exploring my options about having a wedding at this location in the near future, however any chance of this was immediately erased when they scammed me. No where in the booking was this ever explained and I advise using extreme caution when both booking on Trip.com and booking at the Gran Ventana Resort. I would love for a representative or a manger to reach out to me.

Playa Bachata resort is a 3 star experience. If you want a low cost all inclusive getaway, this place works. Don't expect high-quality food, drinks, or activities and you won't be disappointed. The staff, as in all DR resorts, are very kind and helpful. The check-in process was a little slow; which is odd because I was the only one at check-in. The room was clean, but the furnishings were very dated. I was disturbed to find about a dozen flies crawling at the cold salad bar. The beach is the highlight of this resort. I loved sitting under the palm trees and observing the beautiful sea and sky. Overall, it was a good experience at the price point I paid.

AFTER paying for a room for 2 in full. On trip.com they would not let me enter with my USA passport and my Dominican wife. They had the nerve to extort 50 dollars a night extra out of my stay so was over 200 dollars more for a 467.00 dollar 4 night stay, I tried to straighten it out with them they were adamant about the policy i had even called trip.com they aid they get back to them and it should be removed after waiting an hour with no response from front desk I paid it, people from Canada were staying there for 900 a week with air fare and nice room. They told me I was getting a great price I got a free draft beer while waiting, I never go there they are scammers and the room clearly stated was for 2 without any restrictions. I was not entering with a prostitute etc was my wife they have a lot of nerve after I booked I hard they pulled the same move on clients. I even called to verify if it was okay to arrive with my Dominican wife and I with USA passport they said was no problem at all we liked the resort but for 200 dollars more would never go there again. The food was good the drinks were draft Presidente which was ice cold so not bad. The rum was good you had to ask for Anejo they give it to you no problem, The other liquor was he cheapest crap you could buy classico very LOW QUALITY for sure. Also the shows were horrible except one night was okay one nigh they could not even have a show for technical I would highly not recommend this place for there deceiving actions. They said there were going to clarify things look into problem THEY DID NOTHING except take the extra money. Would never go there threre again with an an apoligee from management Thebeach is okay. I live in Sosua we have gorgeous beach I am a Dominican resident they should be ashamed of treating us the way they did. The maid service was very good i tip heavily because i know resorts pay staff. Normally I not a fan of all-inclusive couple days is ok that's it we like going out in campo country Playa Grande way etc much better, Shame on the resort for extort me for my stay I am more than a visitor to this country coming here 43 years now and have gorgeous in Sosua

We had had a Superior double room and it was 2 large rooms. It was very clean and the air conditioning was excellent.Access to Cabarete beach made for a great location.
