The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic. Right downstairs, you'll find a bustling shopping street brimming with drugstores, yakitori restaurants, and all sorts of snacks – truly everything you could ask for. Both Kumamoto Castle and Suizenji Garden are within easy walking distance, and it's also very close to Tsuruya Department Store. A highly recommended choice!
The staff is friendly and provide good service.
The bath house is normal, but can tell its age.
I feel the room is very dusty, it’s making my hand itchy and nose sneezy all the time. The bathroom is also old with water marks and mould.
I am a fan of Dormy Inn and have stayed in Dormy Inn branches at Aomori, Hachinohe, Tokyo, and Osaka before, but this Kumamoto branch has the most room for improvement.
The hotel is in walkable distance to the castle, so it is great.
The room was very clean and not small at all. The only downsides were that the sink tended to splash water easily, and it was quite rare for a bathroom in Japan not to have a bathtub (though I personally found it convenient and clean). If you really want to catch the volcano opening, staying here for two nights is a good idea. The tranquility after the day-trippers leave in the early morning and evening is wonderful. However, dining options nearby are a bit limited. There's a medium-sized local supermarket near Aso Station that closes at 6 PM; it's great for grabbing discounted onigiri and bento boxes. If you walk about 3 minutes towards the main road, there's a Western-style cafe that offers three-course sets. A Lawson convenience store is 5 minutes away, and about 10 minutes away, there's a local ramen shop called 'Hi no Kuni' (Fire Country) that's highly recommended. Their black garlic ramen, a full-meal type, costs 75 yen and tastes good, though the shop is a bit old and could be cleaner.
This is an old Japanese-style hotel, the hotel waiters are uncles and aunts, there is an English-speaking aunt, so try to prepare translation software if possible. The hotel's food is very family-oriented, Japanese home-cooked food, want to experience the Kyushu Samo flavor here is right.
If there is no car, it really takes a lot of trouble to come over. It is recommended to take a taxi directly. The locals know this hotel.
The reserved pick-up time was full when we arrived on the first day. When we checked out the next morning, it was raining heavily. We asked the luggage storage area at the bus station how to get there. As a result, a hotel gentleman drove us to the luggage storage area. They also took us to the bus stop in front and introduced us to where to take the bus. Thank you very much. We didn’t have to push our luggage in the wind and rain.
The hotel's breakfast and dinner are very exquisite, with delicious set meals. Dining will be arranged for each guest in an exclusive room.
There are many kinds of hot spring houses to choose from, and you can experience different styles.
The sea was so healed in front of me!
The hot springs were also very warm and the open-air bath was very comfortable and I put it slowly at night and in the morning.
Above all, the hotel was very kind and I wanted to repeat it again 😊✨
Stayed with friends in this ryokan, everything was great.
Clean, cozy rooms, mountain view, birds singing under the window.
Onsens are great, there are shared ones, there are several private ones. I really liked the private onsen with a cedar bath.
There is a bus stop nearby, a grocery store and a cafe nearby.
The ryokan also has kaiseki.
The hosts are very nice, friendly people.
The host met us and drove us.
We really enjoyed our stay here and we will definitely come back)
The hot springs are very comfortable and the reception staff at the counter and restaurant are very friendly. The only downside is that the room is arranged next to the restaurant, and the whole floor of the room is not very comfortable.
The biggest advantage is convenience; it's right next to the JR station. I also had an unforgettable experience with a phone alert for a red warning of heavy rain one night, which led to all transportation in Kumamoto being shut down and malls closed the next day. This trip to Kumamoto was truly 'bear-y' eventful! Oh, and there was a really beautiful female staff member at the JR station that I still can't forget even after all this time.
The hotel, which opened on August 20th, boasts a beautiful, clean, and quiet environment. Guests are greeted with free coffee and late-night ramen. Free popsicles and Yakult are available in the hot spring area, and the reading lounge is filled with manga. Shoes are required throughout the tatami mats, and the staff are always on hand to maintain and clean them. My three-day stay was very comfortable, and my children were so happy they didn't want to leave.
There is parking available, but guests must reserve a day's parking fee of 1,500 yen. There's also a 24-hour parking tower at the intersection, which has a special agreement with the hotel for 1,200 yen between 3:00 PM and 11:00 AM. It's quite good.

__WeChat30485****The hotel facilities are a bit old, so if you're sensitive about hygiene, you might want to reconsider. It feels like they do a thorough cleaning, but some of the equipment is dated, and there are signs of wear and tear that can't be completely scrubbed away. Our family of three stayed here; it had three beds and a good amount of space. There's also a coin-operated laundry facility within the hotel.
The best part about this hotel is definitely the breakfast – a rich variety of options and excellent value. The location is perfect for shopping, with Shimotori Shopping Street just a 3-5 minute walk away. At the entrance of the shopping street, there's an Isomaru Suisan (a chain seafood restaurant) that serves fantastic eel rice. You can order a whole eel and add rice separately for more eel, or just get the regular eel rice bowl, which is a bit cheaper. Considering how great the breakfast is, this hotel offers really good value for money. I would personally recommend it.
GGuest UserMy recent stay at Hotel Kadoman left me thoroughly impressed. The generously sized rooms provided ample space to unwind and relax, adding an extra level of comfort to my stay. What truly stood out, however, were the culinary offerings. Both dinner and breakfast were a culinary delight, with each dish crafted to perfection and bursting with flavor. The service was equally commendable, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure a pleasant and memorable experience. If you're looking for a hotel that offers spacious accommodations, delicious dining options, and excellent service, look no further than Hotel Kadoman.

PPupuhewanwanThe hot spring bath isn't large, but it wasn't crowded, making the overall experience very comfortable. The restaurant on the first floor takes last orders at 11 PM, and the food was delicious and reasonably priced.
TTraveller CI stayed at this hotel twice. The second time (this booking) we had a room on the older (?) wing and it was almost twice the size of the first one. So for this review I will only share feedback on this “older” room.
This room was big and thus good for us as we had 2 large luggage and more space in the room allowed us to open and pack our luggages with ease.
The bathroom was large with the large traditional bathtub. Toilet had bidet and etc but lacked heating which made it very cold in the winter. Basin tap was still the old turn types which was not eco friendly as it’s more difficult to shut it off.
Location was just opposite the train station which was excellent. But the nearest convenience store is also only at the train station which is about a 5-7mins walk away.
Breakfast was curated to suit the Japanese palette more and ends at 9a.m which is really way too early!!
We left something behind in the hotel but they managed to send the item back to us at our new hotel (still in Japan) which was highly appreciated.
Despite a few minor shortcomings listed above, the pros still outweigh the cons and I’ll definitely be happy to stay here again.
MM313045****The location is great, right next to Kumamoto Station, making it a one-stop solution for transportation, dining, and shopping. The facilities are complete, and the room was larger than expected and very clean. Just a short walk outside, you can catch tram Line A to the city center, which is convenient for visiting Kumamoto Castle and Suizenji Park 🏞.

GGuest UserWe had a great stay at Kamenoi Hotel Aso Park. We booked a room in the South Building, which was spacious, clean, and had a large, comfortable bed. The hotel provides yukata robes in various colors, which was a lovely touch for guests to enjoy the onsen experience.
♨️ The onsen was large and relaxing — perfect after a day of exploring Aso.
🚗 Parking was very convenient, located right next to the hotel. Just across the parking area, there’s a 24-hour convenience store called Obentou Hirai offering ready-made bentos, hot meals, ramen, and udon — extremely convenient for late-night snacks or quick meals.
🍱 We chose a room-only package without meals, and in the morning, we visited the local souvenir and food center at Aso Station. It had a great selection of local foods and breakfast options, plus plenty of gifts and souvenirs to bring home.
Overall, a comfortable stay with everything we needed nearby. Highly recommended if you’re exploring the Aso area!
GGuest UserBetter to rent a car to get there, so convenience is not somebody who books this place should look for.
For relaxing purpose, this is a nice area with lots of green, the down side is it is next to a golf course, so there were sounds of tree-cutting and a bunch of golfers practicing their putts on the practice putting green next to the site for trailers. I am not a big fan of that.
Service is closed to non-existent, there were staffs who helped checking us in, they were friendly and did their job explaining all the essential functions of the trailer. They had to use the translator machine to communicate, they were very patient. I can't rate the service too high because after checking in we were pretty much on our own. So not something you should look for if service is a top priority.
Best part is there is an onsen next to the site that offers family bath, that's memorable.
SSethapongThe hotel was aged I mean enough to makes me feel nostalgic.
Parking is convenient and enough.
I book the Japanese-Style Standard Room · 1 Room - It said just this
(Some room might said no bath so I did not pick but I got no bath nor shower in room anyway - only their big public bath makes it a little adventurous for us for ones who travel with kids and didnot plan to do public bath which makes me totally blank about it and not doing my research. I got big big complain by other guest for not seeing sandal racks in front of the bathing room which of course my fault not seeing that but only if I know and prepared some research this might be a little better)
Bringing two young boys to public bath is not that easy really my 3 years old boy almost fall down the bath.
The staff at the breakfast room tho were more than great although english was not common for all the staffs.
