We were greeted with warm hospitality by the owner Angela when we arrived to check into Franz Josef Oasis. The executive king suite room was clean, cosy and spacious. We enjoyed sitting on the sofas with warm blankets place for our comfort near the fireplace. The location of this place is also good as it 5 minutes drive to the town where we had a delicious dinner at Blue Ice Restaurant and Bar which was recommended to us by Angela. The service is excellent and I will definitely recommend this place to those who are travelling to Franz Josef !

Maybe it's the off-season, so there weren't many guests. The biggest plus was the very new bathroom. The room was small, and there were no kitchen facilities. A small fridge hung awkwardly over the sink, which was really inconvenient. The closet was so packed with an ironing board and other items that there was hardly any space to hang clothes.

After arriving, because the water pump of the hotel we booked was being repaired, the boss contacted another nearby hotel in advance for the day's travelers. The room was very good and it was a business hotel. It was upgraded🌝

The hotel is in a great location which only few mins walking from train station and the Main Street of Greymouth. It’s clean and comfortable. The staffs are nice and friendly.

Our stay at Haka House Franz Josef was a great experience overall. The property has a lively, social atmosphere that makes it easy to meet fellow travellers, yet it still offers quiet corners for those who prefer downtime. The common areas are spacious and well-kept, with a cozy lounge and kitchen facilities that make self-catering simple. The location is excellent—right in the heart of Franz Josef, within walking distance to cafes, shops, and the glacier activities. The bunk room we stayed in was basic but clean, with comfortable beds but limited storage and stuffy! It’s easy to see why it’s such a popular spot in town.

The apartment we stayed in was quite new and felt pleasant. Rooms are quite spacious and clean. The Kitchen was new and well equiped. It’s in a small township near Fox Glacier. There was a view point, which was about a few minutes driver from the motel, where the view of the snow peaks and glacier was spectacular. It is also not far from Franz Joseph glacier.

The hotel's location was fantastic, right next to the glacier. The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained, but the hotel itself, including its furnishings, is quite dated. This is why I deducted points for the furnishings, especially since they weren't very clean (dirty kettle, broken refrigerator, iron covered in limescale). The room and bathroom, however, were clean. The service team was friendly but not very well-coordinated. The portion sizes were good, and the food tasted good. The restaurant could have been cleaner; there were still crumbs from breakfast on the windowsills in the evening. It's okay for a short stop, but it no longer meets modern standards.

Great hotel, wonderful staff, amazing sea views (if you book a sea view room), nice restaurant, free parking, comfy beds, nice showers - perfect for a night or more in Hokitika!

The location is fantastic, really close to all the attractions! The price was great too, excellent value for money 👍. The bathroom has a detachable shower head, and the room's kitchen comes with cookware, even a hot pot for cooking – so good! The shared kitchen is huge, and there's a lovely view right outside the room 😊.

We had been advised by a relative that this hotel on the beach was worth staying at. We had a deluxe room up on the hill across the main road so we were not actually on the beach. However the view of the ocean was fantastic particularly in the stormy weather. Due to the weather we had to drive down to the restaurant for breakfast. Restaurant fully booked out by tour groups for dinner but the tavern about 1.5km down the road saw us right for a meal. The complex seemed to have several different standards of rooms and I think ours was the best.
