The hotel is quiet and clean. The facilities are a bit old, but the environment is clean. The front desk is not 24 hours. If you arrive late, you need to call the front desk. Overall, it is good.

Guest UserAlways a good stay at Wairakei resort, comfortable room very close to main lobby which has excellent AC. Plenty of on site parking and love the access to the motorway. The bathroom cleaning could be better as I found a few hairs in the tub when we got there however this was the only thing I could fault.

Guest UserEnjoyed my one night stay on a Thursday night in October.
Room - Superior Queen #110. $92 nzd.
Pros
-Cheap
-Comfy mattress
-Great location
-Clean
-Spacious room and bathroom
-Heat pump which was on when i arrived which kept the room at a comfy temp.
-Kind front desk woman on arrival.
-Old world architecture.
Cons
-Noisy heat pump (albeit grateful there was one)
-No sound insulation so can hear footsteps easily.
-Bed was 2 x singles pushed together and had to sleep either side of the gap.
Tip - book a superior room type. It's my experience these are better quality. When you book the lead in room category (deluxe) they're cheaper for a reason.
I would return but not on a Friday or Saturday as the sound of the street noise and night clubs would be heard easily.
Thanks for a nice stay.

I arrived in Taupo on the morning Air NZ flight from AKL, upon arrival at the Chevron Motel, 4 hours before the published check-in time, I had planned to ask to have my luggage stored while I go about other business. The receptionist kindly asked me to wait while she checked to see if my room was ready, and if so, I could have my room right away. Lucky for me it was, I was very pleased with the initiative and flexibility offered. My booking included a living area with dining table, kitchen, sofa, spare single bed, a separate bedroom, and a dedicated parking space. My stay of 5 nights was very comfortable, and I will definitely use this motel again on my next visit. I would like to offer a few suggestions for improvements, first - a split type AC unit was present in the living room, it would be great if there could be a second unit installed in the bedroom. Internet connectivity, available 24/7, while adequate, did have limited bandwidth affecting video streaming from Netflix/YouTube etc. Lastly, it would be great if the TV provided in the living room had a larger screen. In summary, I was very pleased with my stay at the Chevron Motel, the room offered great value for money, and I was completely relaxed and comfortable during my stay.

A very nice place. Hosts Richie and Lynn were friendly and helpful. The location is a stone’s throw from Waitomo caves and there are three places to eat within walking distance. It’s quiet and cozy. Netflix on the TV was welcomed on a rainy evening. The breakfast was welcomed as well.

The hotel is in a great central location, making it super easy to get to all the attractions we wanted to visit. The breakfast was really good too, and I appreciated that it was served a bit longer than other hotels, until 11 AM. Plus, there are tons of restaurants nearby, both Chinese and Western, which was very convenient.

The hotel is close to the lake, the location is more convenient, not far from the plane McDonald's, the lake view room is booked, the front building is under construction, the scaffolding is slightly blocking the line of sight, the sanitary conditions are general, the bed has hair, and the hair dryer is not easy to use. But the price is cost-effective in the surrounding area.

Independent cabins, smaller rooms, clean. Kitchens and bathrooms are concentrated in the middle, like a caravan camp. Close to Hot Water Beach, there seems to be no other hotels nearby, you can rent a shovel to dig on the beach

California JeanWe loved our stay at the Hahei Beach Resort! The room was lovely, complete with a private deck looking onto trees where the birds love to share their joie de vivre. Great beach location, wonderful for swimming and walking, fantastic hike up the hill to the lookout. The resort is like a club - very friendly, with camping facilities and a central area with a burger shop, pizza joint, and bar. The pizzas were amazing!!! Hahei town is an easy walk from the resort. Getting out of Hahei to see other Coromandel Peninsula sites requires a bit of a drive, but I think that keeps the town mellow. We would go back in a heartbeat.

The boss is Chinese, very enthusiastic, and has a good service attitude. The hotel facilities are a bit old, but overall it is good.
