Emeishan Fanxing Mountain House (Huangwan Visitor Center)
4.8/5360 Reviews
Huangwan Town/ Visitor Center of Mount Emei
An Exceptional Hidden Gem Location is a short walk to the Huangwan Tourist Centre, the closest bus depot/stop before you start your journey up the mountain. I stayed twice, 2 nights each, before and after my sojourn up to the up. Why? Because of the little things. It just felt lwarm and comfortable. Things you feel beyond the hardware, which has been very well looked after despite of the 3 year lull of COVID. It is the warmth of sincere greetings always. The thoughtful attention to little details are so many, but I shall just list a few. They have a Chinese tea set in the room, when they see you used it, they upsize the bottled water which by the way is deliberately sourced from a local spring, even though it is by a big brand. Breakfast is a Chinese style set tray, most all ingredients are sourced locally. Very presentable. They will gladly replenish whatever you like. The soya milk is freshly made, rich and thick. Because of my dietary restrictions, I just took the eggs and little pickles the 1st morning, with almost a whole jug of soya milk, the wait staff asked if everything was alright and duly came back with extra eggs. The next morning, they asked if I wanted the same, and had it on standby. On my return stay, the front desk asked if I would like anything else for breakfast, I was obviously impressed that the details of my stay was fed back to the front desk. This is what personalized service is about and where it starts. The minute I entered my room, there was the upsized bottle of water. The hardware you can read elsewhere. It leans more to modern zen. Special mention must be made about the bedsheets, I only noticed a few nights later how much of a higher grade it is compared to most internationally. Little insider secret : they have a few husk filled pillows in oversized pillow cases which allows you to shape to your preferred height and thickness. OK! Complain time. There is no in-house hot spring, something nice after the mountain, yet I forewent it just because, for my return stay. The complex they are in is quite destitute, most units are vacant. Restaurants are there but.... So quiet and peaceful it definitely is. A truly underrated hidden gem of a B&B. I seldom write reviews except for the 1s and 10s.

This B&B is super invincible~~ The location is very close to Wuxiangang, and it’s not far to drive up the mountain. The butler of the B&B can pick you up at the Emeishan High-speed Railway Station, and he is also a 185-year-old boy. I really like it. Although we drove ourselves with three beauties, the experience was great. Haha, girls from different provinces also like places like this. The room was clean and comfortable, and the bed was so soft that we just wanted to lie down all the time. The boss was super nice and the housekeeper responded very quickly if we needed anything. It was really a perfect stay experience! Floor-to-ceiling glass, a large TV on the wall, a large high-definition screen, and the large windows are full of green. Lying in the scenery is simply not a good idea. We like the decoration style very much. There are bookcases and decorations in the stairwell, which is very easy to check in. The stair railings are white and shadowless, which is very easy to film. The restaurant is entirely covered with floor-to-ceiling glass, making it look spacious, bright and comfortable. On the table are flowers and green plants cut from different mountains, which can be arranged randomly to create a different style [laughing] The boss looked at us taking photos and checking in, and thought we were from the Internet Master, actually no, I really like the overall warm environment. The housekeeper was also very considerate. Seeing that we had just arrived, a beautiful woman was not feeling well. She asked for medicine and asked about her condition. He said that breakfast would be delivered to the room without going downstairs, which was really good. Regardless of age, everyone can take a look and really like the decoration style of this restaurant. It has a great atmosphere. You can take photos and take photos. I love it! All in all, we would recommend it to our friends~ Living here is very comfortable in every aspect. All in all, I feel like I’m living at home! It deserves a five-star rating! <Worry-free travel>Pick-up and drop-off service at Emeishan Station:

I stayed for two nights during the May Day holiday and was very satisfied! First of all, it is worth recommending that the service attitude is very good, and it takes all aspects of the guests into consideration. It makes guests feel at home, and the service is far better than that of a five-star hotel. Secondly, the environment is very good. It is located between two mountains full of bamboo forests. The garden design is great, and it has its own mountain trail and tea pavilion developed on one side of the mountain. The kids had a lot of fun playing in the garden and on the mountain trail. The room is a large Japanese tatami style, including goose*stone slabs in the room, which the kids love very much. Breakfast is served one by one, with a unique style. Dinner is a standard meal, very rich, and also suitable for kids. It's a pity that it rained for two days and I didn't see the fireflies. I will come to see the fireflies in July~

Chunxi Road Commercial Area
Great location at the heart of Chengdu’s busiest area, perfect for shopping and nightlife. Also really well connected by metro. The hotel is new and well designed, and the room was spacious and really well equipped. Main con is that the hotel is in (and shares elevators with) a 30+ floors office building, and during rush hours it can take ages to get a free elevator. Our room’s “city view” was also quite poor.

The service was amazing. The front desk staff lady was extremely nice, approachable, and helpful, even at 4am. The hotel staff as a whole is there whenever you need help and offers speedy assistance with superb customer service. The security is good as well. If you're a foreigner, the staff makes you feel taken care of and welcome, so don't worry about feeling out of place if you're foreign. The location is a bit far from where it's poppin in downtown Chengdu and the panda sanctuary, but the location is quiet and away from any noise. There are some small restaurants and convenience stores less than a minute walk away from the hotel, so the location is also good in that regard. As for room hygiene, the sink drain had a very bad smell that would only go away when we would wash our hands or faces, but the smell would come back quickly. It wasn't too bad unless we walked by the sink. The bathroom was relatively clean but the drain would occasionally smell, though not as bad as the sink drain. The shower mat it came with was dirty but we didn't use the shower mat. The toilet was rather clean as well as the rest of the room. Ayis did a fine job of cleaning, especially since we stayed for 5 days. The lobby and hallways were also clean. The laundry room's washer and dryer are free and operate in great condition. This hotel is a great choice if you want accommodations on the newer, functioning, and affordable side as opposed to the expensive international hotel chains in Chengdu.

The people at the receptionist were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was also quite varied, in Chinese style. There were washing machines and dryers at the top. However, there were little flying bugs in the washroom and they were all over the towels and sometimes even on the pillowcase. The elevators were a bit slow during rush hour and our floor had a strong cigarette/smoke smell. :(

My recent stay at this hotel was truly enjoyable. The accommodations were comfortable and well-maintained throughout my visit. The staff consistently went above and beyond to ensure a pleasant experience. In particular, I wanted to commend Xiao Zhao and Qiuqiu for their exceptional helpfulness. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a wonderful place to stay.
Atour Hotel Chengdu Chunxi Road
4.7/54836 Reviews
Chunxi Road Commercial Area
The location was ideal as it is short walking distance to the popular Chunxi Road where the airport bus can be found there too. As there's several Atour within that same area, we went to the incorrect one at first before finding the right one. We had arrived closed to 4pm but the room was not ready despite the check-in time was 3pm. Reason given to us was that due to the ongoing renovation, thus the housekeeping was busier than usual. While we understand the renovation is for improvement of the hotel, not receiving prior notice about potential delay in check-in was not a pleasant experience the moment we check-in. As the room we have booked on trip.com platform has some ”weird setup” whereby breakfast is included for 1 guest, thus we had to purchase additional breakfast for the remaining check-in guest. The instructions given by the hotel on how this is done wasn't very clear and kind of sounded like upselling instead of really giving in house guest some discount as they claimed. This had also left quite a bad experience on the first day of check-in. We were also asked to add them on wechat, just like any other accommodation that we had stayed in during our trip in China, and we can contact them for assistance via Wechat. However, I received no replies from them via wechat when I indeed use this platform to seek help. While I understand that they have many guests to attend to and may not provide immediate replies, in my situation, the questions that I have raised via wechat was left unanswered until day 3 of my stay when i had to personally seek help at the reception and raised the issue of unanswered wechat messages to them. This was something not experienced in my other accommodation and considering Atour is a relatively big chain in China, this is an upsetting experience during our stay. Strongly suggest that they improve in their service level.
True Go S Hotel (Kuixinglou Food Street, Kuanzhai Alley)

Chengdu University of TCM/Kuanzhai Alley nearby area
We stayed here for 3 nights while in Chengdu, and this is a cute modern hotel in a great location (walkable to multiple different lines, close to Kuanzhai Alley ~10min walk, and close to tons of great hot pot). The rooms are quite small, but sort of a cozy ”pod” feel, which we enjoy. There are buttons near the bed to control the lights and shades, which is nice, and a bidet in the bathroom! We initially chose the City View but the street in front is quite busy / noisy with cars, so we opted for the ones facing inward (though it is just an alley, not much of a sight, so kept curtains drawn). Though they told us it was non-smoking, there was a pretty dominant smoke smell in our room initially, and often in the elevators. Their breakfast buffet is decent, and can't beat it for the price (only about $5 USD per person). What really irked me and my family was at checkout, the front desk person was very pushy for us to immediately leave a 5-star review IN FRONT OF HER. My parents and I were trying to hail us a taxi, and she handed me a very cheap-looking panda headband (like a child's craft project), and was like, ”Please leave us a 5-star review!” to which I replied, ”Ok, I will do it when I get home” (since I did not have the Trip.com app on my phone, and also we are actively trying to get to the airport currently?..). Then, she just stood there next to me and kept bringing it up, and then my mom tried to shoo her away by saying I couldn't understand Chinese (lol), and then she brings a headband for my mom, and was like, ”Will you please help her leave a 5-star review for us right now?” We kept asking her why it needed to be immediately right there, and there was no answer. We ultimately just handed her the headbands and told her to please let us be. Anyways, makes me question some of the 5-star reviews here.

Qingcheng Mountain and Tai'An Ancient Town
As soon as the lockdown was lifted in Chengdu, we went to Mount Qingcheng on September 19. There were very few people affected by the light rain. The hotel is located in the Houshan Scenic Spot of Mount Qingcheng (the ticket for the scenic spot is 20 yuan) and it is in the ancient town of Tai'an. There is a disposable toilet seat, full of details! Interior decoration and hygiene are very good! The boss is very accommodating, and the experience of staying is very good! There are a lot of home-cooked dishes and local specialties nearby (recommended to try the three kinds of wax, all kinds of wild vegetables, steamed fish), we basically eat all the local wild vegetables and it tastes good! I stayed for two days in a row and it was very comfortable. It is worth staying for a few more days when I have time to experience the quiet environment in the mountains!
