Hotel location should be the biggest advantage, about five minutes walk from the river Basaka Station. The hotel staff is very professional and welcoming.
The hotel's breakfast is a traditional Japanese rice side dish, simple but the taste is quite satisfactory. Other aspects are standard business hotels, if you are on a business trip, you can choose.
The first time I lived in the orthodox squatter house, I was pleasantly surprised. The house is very distinctive. The sister of the hotel will not communicate with the translator because of the text but has been communicating with the translator. The breakfast is delicious. Everyone must order breakfast in advance. There is also a vinyl dish machine in the living room. It is very nostalgic and sentimental. Otsu is really a very quiet town, and on the last day of 2024 I spent a very peaceful day here.
Great option for visiting the Shirahige Shrine. The host offered a ride in the early morning after knowing we were planning to go, which was extremely kind of him.
Room was very spacious and clean, with a nice view. Very close to the station and easy to find.
The only thing I would note is that there was only one bath. We arrived around 830pm and planned to take the bath shortly, but by the time we settled and got downstairs (around 9pm), someone else was using it so we couldn't get in until after 930. It was a shame that we couldn't enjoy the hot bath as much as we wanted as we tried to hurry out for the next group since they were waiting after us but I'm not sure if they were able to use it as the bath closes at 10pm.
I stayed for two nights.
The twin room was large and clean and very satisfied.
The toilet and bath were also easy to use separately.
I want to use it if I have another chance!
Excellent location, right at the station. Check in 16h00. No wifi offered. Hotel access via public restaurant - feels weird to walk between diners to go out / return.
Lockers far too narrow even for airline carry-on. Bathroom is clean, shower has small dry area, and water pressure varies. Capsules are spacious with power socket, lights, shelf, etc.
The mattress is a few cm thick piece of soft foam and is so worn that it feels like a slab of concrete wrapped in a sheet. Very uncomfortable! And I am 77kg, not overweight. The pillow is a bag filled with what feels like gravel stones.
Breakfast comprises one hot / cold drink, a small pile of lettuce leaves with dressing, a thick slab of white bread that is scored about half way deep into a small chessboard and very lightly toasted, and a thimble-size serving of sweet fruit yoghurt.
They do offer to hold luggage until 16h00 after check-out, and collecting it is easy and fast.
Very good hotel. Love the room and the hot spring area.
Staff are very friendly.
Just a comment on the food arrangement: suggest the hotel to contact the guest prior to the check-in on the dinner or breakfast arrangement and offer the choices.
When you stay at HOTEL LAGNA in Moriyama, you'll be next to a golf course, within a 15-minute drive of Lake Biwa and Biwako Valley Ski Resort. This golf hotel is 18.1 mi (29.1 km) from Kiyomizu Temple and 19.5 mi (31.5 km) from Kawaramachi Street.
Guests will find features like a car charging station.
Make yourself at home in one of the 4 guestrooms featuring microwaves. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected. Bathrooms have separate bathtubs and showers and hair dryers.
The hotel is small in size, a bit old, the key is used, it is still very clean, very close to the Haogen City Station, some rooms can see the Haogen City Tianshou Pavilion. There are massage chairs and ice cream in the hotel.
The location of the hotel is particularly special. In the village, there is dinner and breakfast by the lake of Wuhu. The dinner is a famous local suxi pot. The breakfast is a traditional diet. The hotel is very clean. The facilities are outdated. The public bathroom and outdoor hot spring can look up at the starry sky. The whole floor is our family. There are few people for the location, the bathroom is a bit inconvenient outside the house, the service is very Japanese and very polite.

Ok. First of all leave your expectations at home expecting hotel level service. Once you've done that if you want a cheap but clean place to stay this is it. This is a seinenkan - a facility for youth and youth-related organizations to conduct independent study and recreational activities, many of which have basic accommodation facilities but higher grade facilities than youth hostels. They are located all over Japan. I stayed in a tatami mat room on a floor with shared toilet facilities. The ground floor has a large communal bath - obviously separate for male and females. They have lights out at 11 p.m. and guests must return by the same time. There is a very modern cafe onsite serving cheap breakfasts (see photos) but the cafe closes by 6 p.m. There is a convenience store 10 minutes walk away so I suggest you buy snacks and beverages en route from JR Ishiyama station. For dinner, there is a family restaurant - good value and okay food - about 6 minutes walk away. The seinenkan is located on a small island by a historic bridge. The views of the river inlet flowing into the main Lake Biwa is relaxing, lots of bird wildlife, and lots of rowers (the seinenkan is a water sports facility too). and the sunrise and sunset views are lovely. The staff are very kind. It cost me ¥5,500 for one night and I will stay there again if I have the opportunity.

This place gave us a truly memorable experience. The owner couple treated us like family, and the grandmother’s kindness warmed our hearts. The peaceful countryside setting, traditional Japanese house, relaxing onsen, and the generous, delicious breakfast made our stay absolutely perfect.
I was surprised to come to Kashiwara without any information. The history here goes back to the Edo period. This is a Japanese-style house. The courtyard and plants are beautiful, and the rooms are clean and herb-scented. It feels so good to look at the garden while drinking tea in the rain.
Very good hotel. Love the room and the hot spring area. Staff are very friendly. Just a comment on the food arrangement: suggest the hotel to contact the guest prior to the check-in on the dinner or breakfast arrangement and offer the choices.
The room itself has a bathroom sink which is pretty convenient. Not expecting much given the price but it did have everything u need for a basic sleep. Surprisingly the public bath is just hot water not onsen.
GGuest UserLocation was great, next to the lake. Owners were nice.
Place was ok to stay considering the price.
The biggest issue is that wall are super thin and if you a light sleeper like me - you might have a problem :)
