The room and bed are both tiny, almost like a narrow daybed as some have pointed out. On the plus side, the bed itself was quite comfortable. Cleanliness was mediocre; I even found hairs on the bed. The bathroom sink is poorly designed; you can barely wash your hands, let alone your face, as your head gets stuck against the glass shelf above it. Considering the prices in Iceland, it's relatively cheap, and it's okay for just one night if you're on a budget. There's a bus stop conveniently located right outside, and the airport shuttle drops you off directly at the entrance.
I spent six long nights in Iceland at this hostel. It was a mix of touring and relaxing: the first three days were intense, doing three day-tours, then on the fourth day, I rested and went to the hot springs. I was undecided about the last two days and hadn't planned anything, and due to various cancellations, I ended up just staying at the hostel and wandering around the city.
This place is small but has everything you need. It's also very friendly for Chinese speakers; you can communicate in Chinese, and there are even Asian faces from Vietnam. It's funny how they often refer to other guests as 'foreigners' during conversations, haha. The bathrooms are perfectly adequate, and the water temperature and pressure are both good (which I really care about)! As for having to press the button every ten seconds or so, I think that's perfectly acceptable.
The only thing that could be improved is the common kitchen. The available facilities and space are too small. There are four induction hobs grouped together, and one solo hob nearby. In reality, it's usually only enough for three people to cook simultaneously (two on the grouped ones, plus the solo one)... There's also only one sink for washing dishes, so you often have to wait when it's busy. I hope they can renovate and expand it if they get more funding in the future, haha!
Little tip: If you're cooking noodles or similar, boil the water in the kettle first – it's much faster!
KEX Hostel in Reykjavík is a great place to stay, especially for budget travelers and friends exploring the city together. The location is excellent, right in the city center and close to the seaside, making it easy to walk to major attractions, restaurants, and shops. The hostel has a unique, social atmosphere with a lively common area and bar, which is perfect for meeting other travelers. Rooms and facilities are generally clean and functional, though they can feel a bit basic and sometimes noisy due to the hostel’s popular and central setting. A special highlight of your stay is being able to see the northern lights from outside the hostel, which is a memorable experience and shows how good the location is near the waterfront. Overall, KEX offers good value, a fun vibe, and a prime location for enjoying Reykjavík.
I did not receive the check-in information before check-in, so I contacted the host through Facebook messenger when I arrived at the hotel door. The rooms are on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors and there is no lift. It is very inconvenient if you have a large suitcase.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Guesthouse Aurora, where the charm of the establishment was only matched by the warmth of its hosts. Nestled in a convenient location next to the Church, the guesthouse presented itself as an inviting home away from home, perfect for travelers looking for an authentic and personal touch to their accommodation.
Before arrival, we were worried that we cannot checkin because we took a night flight. However, when i called the staff, he answered that even our arrival time is out of customer service, he could leave the key and PIN code for us to self-checkin, he also went beyond to ensure a smooth check-in process. Their attention to detail and eagerness to assist with any inquiries set the tone for a delightful stay.
The guesthouse itself boasted a quaint and cozy atmosphere, with communal areas that were well-kept and adorned with tasteful decorations, offering a homely comfort that was immediately noticeable. The included breakfast was a highlight of the stay, featuring a generous spread of both local and continental options, freshly prepared and sure to satisfy a variety of tastes. The morning meal provided a wonderful opportunity to mingle with other guests and exchange travel tales, all while enjoying the delightful array of food.
However, it's worth noting that the room space was somewhat compact. While the room was impeccably clean and well-equipped with the necessary amenities, the limited space could pose a slight inconvenience, especially for those with a significant amount of luggage or a
The hotel has poor sound insulation and no front desk. For those with poor English, you may have to choose carefully. The boss is very good and let me check in early. Very close to the church. After taking the airport bus to the terminal, it was about a little more than one kilometer away. I took a taxi and spent 90 RMB.

a favorable reception is really impressed
The hostel is absolutely amazing! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with such warmth and hospitality. The staff were incredibly helpful and always had a smile on their face. Our room was beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. The location was perfect, right in the heart of the city, making it so easy to explore all the attractions. We will definitely be back!
The room was spacious and clean, shared bathroom was also clean. Good spread for buffet breakfast and good amenities to use in this guesthouse. There was a strict check in at 3pm but the host let us wait in the waiting area when we arrived at 2:30. It has nearby bus stop but everything is walking distance if you brace the weather.
I didn't make a reservation personally, but I couldn't get an email from the owner, who said self-check-in, and after another guest opened the door, I called the owner and went in. Open the part with the room number attached to each room and press the off-time key. When you check out, you can leave it in it. The entrance is not the front door, but the second floor of the next staircase. The underground luggage storage room is You have to go back to the building, not next to it.

GGuest UserCheck-in was pretty smooth. I was allocated the room just above the main entrance as such, it can be quite noisy whenever people get in or out of the hostel with the door slamming and some vibration felt! The bathroom and wc are fairly clean and tidy. Very cosy common area to mingle and make new friends. Kitchen has all the basic necessity. I especially like the small area right outside my room where i can have a light meal and nice view of the surroundings. Bought the unlimited bus rides ticket via the Klappid app for travel within the Reykjavik capital city and bus svc 12 is just few steps away. If time permits, you can even walk to the coastal area for sight-seeing. Overall, i am very satisfied with my 8 nights stay at Laekur hostel!
TTingZipFantastic location. We stayed for three nights, they provide towels, bath shampoo and hangers in room. There are side table and chairs. The common kitchen is well equipped and there are so clean. Some traveller bought food to prepare breakfast and dinner. It's so convinient to walk to city.
Recommend for team building and school camp.
