dark and full of thieves. MAYBE DONT KEEP ANYTHING IN THE REFRIGERATOR. not sure how my things got stolen as they were packed in the back and not visible. was it the cleaning staff checking every item and label? did they decide to take it? was it a traveler, and because there's no CCTV they thought it'd be okay? i thought in iceland people would keep the cultural system of no crime. so this is a warning and also this experience (at the end of my stay) doesnt affect my overall opinion of the hostel (which i formed before having things stolen). the atmosphere is overly dreary and depressing. the most colorful thing is the mandatory rainbow flag that almost every business in the area seems to have on display (is it part of an extortion racket?). low light everywhere, even in the sleeping room when you need to be able to see and find things. the room had only one small window and only a tiny opening for fresh air outside. no air circulation or ability to adjust the room temperature. the room was cramped and the beds squeaked and creaked at the smallest movement. sheets were clean and no bugs were seen. so that is a plus! the interior and decor in the hostel is odd. it felt like a waiting room in the afterlife for people who led lives of honest vice and subversive transgression, or maybe it's best described as a purgatory for designers with perpetual Seasonal Affective Disorder. this probably suits most people interested in the general icelandic vibe, so it is appropriate. no ability to make a deposit for a lock for the lockers in the room. you must purchase an overpriced lock. finally there are no smiles on any workers who speak in monotone and seem bothered whenever you ask a question, as if they had been interrupted, as if it werent their job to assist customers, and as if i were dumb for asking a question.

The hostel was great. Central location, very close to the most famous church and to the downtown, so there are always options where to eat, drink, and walk. The hostel itself is modern in the sense of not having a physical key but rather passcodes for all the doors. The staff were great - you can leave your baggage until your check-in or after your check-out for free. The administrator actually listens and tries to help you as much as possible if you're having some issues. In my room, it was quiet and warm. Also, the cleaning crew do their work really well - the bathrooms and rooms are clean, there's no smell or anything of the kind. There are free hairdryers in a special room. Outlets work, and they also have USB-ports. Common spaces are great, wonderful decor and vibe. Highly recommend

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Guesthouse Aurora, where the charm of the establishment was only matched by the warmth of its hosts. Nestled in a convenient location next to the Church, the guesthouse presented itself as an inviting home away from home, perfect for travelers looking for an authentic and personal touch to their accommodation.
Before arrival, we were worried that we cannot checkin because we took a night flight. However, when i called the staff, he answered that even our arrival time is out of customer service, he could leave the key and PIN code for us to self-checkin, he also went beyond to ensure a smooth check-in process. Their attention to detail and eagerness to assist with any inquiries set the tone for a delightful stay.
The guesthouse itself boasted a quaint and cozy atmosphere, with communal areas that were well-kept and adorned with tasteful decorations, offering a homely comfort that was immediately noticeable. The included breakfast was a highlight of the stay, featuring a generous spread of both local and continental options, freshly prepared and sure to satisfy a variety of tastes. The morning meal provided a wonderful opportunity to mingle with other guests and exchange travel tales, all while enjoying the delightful array of food.
However, it's worth noting that the room space was somewhat compact. While the room was impeccably clean and well-equipped with the necessary amenities, the limited space could pose a slight inconvenience, especially for those with a significant amount of luggage or a

This was our second stay here, so we knew what to expect this time around. We had a room with no window, which I do not at all recommend! There was zero temperature control, and it got very hot very quickly. The room opens up to the hallway, so zero privacy, and lots of people peeing into our room while we were trying to just cool the place down. There is literally not enough space on the floor to open your luggage. So, we were prepared this time and got all of our clothes out and everything in the parking lot, and just left her stuff in the car. This way, we had the tiniest walkway to move around to get from the bed to the bathroom, but that was literally it. The staff was helpful and what they could, but there’s nothing they can do about a hot room with no ventilation. But, around seven in the morning, the cleaning staff came to the room next-door and sounded like they were having a party. I could distinctly hear three different voices and every word they were saying, along with doors, slamming, and lots of excessive noise that woke us up way sooner than we needed to before our flight. I sleep with earplugs to avoid this, and even through the earplugs, I could make out every word these cleaners were saying. Not the most respectful staff, even after I woke up, asked them to tone it down, they just ignored me and went on with their Excessive noise. Aside from finding plenty of hair all over the room, it was pretty clean, but the shower is exceptionally small. I’m a tiny person, so it wasn’t terrible for me, but I could not at all extend my arms and it made for a very rushed shower. The elevator works, and there are actually two, but if the hotel is full, I recommend taking the stairs, even up to the sixth floor. I once waited 16 minutes for the lift, and eventually just decided to take the stairs. All around, it’s a place to stay, and I’m sure the rooms with windows are much better, but I do not recommend this hotel overall.
I didn't make a reservation personally, but I couldn't get an email from the owner, who said self-check-in, and after another guest opened the door, I called the owner and went in. Open the part with the room number attached to each room and press the off-time key. When you check out, you can leave it in it. The entrance is not the front door, but the second floor of the next staircase. The underground luggage storage room is You have to go back to the building, not next to it.
It was nice to be close to the city center and the museums

NNo_return_dateHuge hostel that has some private rooms. The common bathrooms were kept very clean despite one of the shower rooms having a window that could easily be seen through from a lawn on the privacy. The beds in the dorms are a little rickety and I wondered if they were very stable but they held up during the two nights I stayed there. There were a lot of university students here and they were surprisingly well behaved.
GGuest UserThe room was spacious and clean, shared bathroom was also clean. Good spread for buffet breakfast and good amenities to use in this guesthouse. There was a strict check in at 3pm but the host let us wait in the waiting area when we arrived at 2:30. It has nearby bus stop but everything is walking distance if you brace the weather.
ZZIJIANBreakfast is a popular Nordic breakfast, and the Chinese may be a little uncomfortable with it. The room is quite satisfactory, there is a kitchen, very easy to use. There is no kitchen in Building 43, so it is a long way to go. The kitchen in Building 45 is easier to use. You can park at the door.
AAnonymous UserTowels were provided in the room but it is shared toilets. Things were generally clean but quite worn. Communication from the property was prompt and in advance which was good.
