The hotel is very new and in first rate condition. Next to a ubahn station but a 20 minute walk from centre.
For a Hilton the bedrooms are very small with the bathroom and toilet entered right next to the bed. 7 configuration only works for singles.
In room servicing ok but each we had to ask for more tea and coffee as this was not refreshed.
For asinglebusinessman this hotel is good. Couples should go elsewhere.

Very pleasant stay at this hotel even if only for one night, the checkin was fast, the staff was nice and welcoming and everything was clean. The bed was comfortable and the room was well equipped. Only downside are the prices of parking and breakfast otherwise 100% satisfied

Simple and cozy room in a great location. It's right in the city centre and walkable from the main station. The staff at the reception was very friendly and helped me with the elevator. Amazing for such a cheap price. Would come here again!

When we arrived, we encountered a bit of a language barrier as the receptionist's English was not very good. He couldn't give us clear indications about the parking.
The room itself was clean and well-maintained, but I had an issue with the pillow. It was extremely soft and inconsistent, which made it difficult to get comfortable. I had to push it against the wall to create enough volume to be able to sleep...
Another thing I didn't like was that the shampoo and body soap were combined into one product. This also gave a cheap vibe.
During breakfast, a female staff member almost removed my yet-to-be-consumed plate without even asking. I understand that breakfast time was over and it's reasonable to stop serving food and beverages, but customers should be given enough time to finish their meals. I had to GRAB my plate to keep eating, which was quite inconvenient.

Very close to the Porsche Museum, McDonald's is very convenient below, there is also a burrito shop, be careful of parking fines, breakfast is the same throughout Germany, edible. The express hotel is clean and sanitary.

It was spacious, spotless, and well-equipped with everything I needed, from a cozy bed with crisp linens to a well-stocked minibar, a flat-screen TV, and reliable Wi-Fi. The bathroom was another highlight: clean, modern, and fitted with high-quality amenities. One small detail I appreciated was how quiet the room was; I could truly relax without any disturbance from outside noise.
The service throughout my stay was outstanding. Every member of the staff, from housekeeping to the concierge, went out of their way to make sure I felt comfortable and taken care of. MMAll in all, not a terrible stay. When we first got there to check in the front desk was closed even though it was 5pm and check in was until 10, and the automatic check in machine was broken with a note on it to pick up our room keys at the hotel across the street. We went there and they had no idea what we were talking about so we had to carry our luggage back across the street after contacting trip.com who replied IMMEDIATELY (thank you guys so much your customer service is incredible!) we got the number to call the hotel after hours and it turns out they forgot to leave our keys so they sent someone back over to let us into our room. We got into our room and it wasn’t the room we booked, it was a room in the attic that on one side I couldn’t even stand up without hitting my head (I’m 5”3) but it had AC and it was a place to rest our heads so it could wait until morning. The next day when we came down we mentioned the room error and the look the first guy gave me was full of contempt, so his customer service was awful. I know I don’t look like a conventional woman with my hair and tattoos and I understand different cultures can collide but that’s fine, though when the manager came to talk to my fiancé his attitude perked up a bit and he found a smile. They got us in the correct room and this room was a normal size but the ac unit for that room is a portable roll about one that the hose wasn’t sticking out the window with the netting correctly and they tried to come fix it (duct tape) but then the hose broke but my fiancé found a way to shove it out the window and it took awhile to get the room cooled down but then it was great. After that the rest of the trip went well, the woman with the copper/red hair was super nice and overall we really enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was a really good breakfast and the hotel is in a great location with secure parking. Check out Lino’s around the corner for fantastic drinks and the döner place downstairs is killer.
It’s most important that most Germans don’t approve of AC so keep that in mind if that’s important to you that you double verify where you book. All the trouble aside we would definitely stay here again, just don’t count on the blow dryer in the room or the AC to work and room service may need to be requested multiple times.

SSUSAN TOMIf we could give this hotel a review of 10/5 we would. We stayed for an extended time (16 days) and during that time we experienced the best and friendliest service.
The reception staff was always friendly and cheerful. Everyone was ready to help with any question we had.
Breakfast was amazing. The selection was terrific. And every morning we were greeted by the pleasant and happy staff. One staff member told me she loves her job. Who doesn't want to stay in a hotel where the staff love working? Several days my mother who travelled with me was ill and the staff made it so easy for me to take breakfast to her in the room.
The room was terrific. We requested the accessible room and were not disappointed. Despite Ettlingen not being the most wheelchair friendly, Stadthotel Engel had every accessibility need addressed. The front entrance has no stairs. They have an elevator that stops at the breakfast room level. The bathroom in our room was wheelchair friendly with a raised toilet, fully accessible shower, and vanity that could accommodate a wheelchair underneath. We did not have a wheelchair but my mother has a walker which requires many of the same accommodations. The room has air conditioning for those who are concerned about that.
The location is amazing. From the hotel you are directly in the old city and can walk to many stores, cafes, and restaurants. The hotel entrance is located in an inside court area where there are tables that can be enjoyed during the nice weather.

One minor inconvenience was that our bottled water was not refilled after the first night, which was a bit disappointing. Also, be sure to lock your door because the cleaning staff may enter in the morning without warning, which can be quite startling if you're not expecting it.
Overall, it's a good place for a quick stay, with a solid, reliable atmosphere and great cleanliness. Just be prepared for a few minor drawbacks, especially if traveling with family, needing more space, or looking for specific breakfast options.

GGuest UserIntercity Hotel Freiburg is generally good. It is built next to the main fire, with a commercial district and various bus stops. The rooms are reasonably furnished and have a small refrigerator. However, it is not suitable for people who have high requirements for sleeping environment (see the picture, the train station is outside the window). Even if the window is closed, the broadcast of the station is still heard all day long. The hotel will not allow early check-in at its discretion, and the old man at the front desk is a bit indifferent.
