+ Great location + Fantastic Breakfast + Lovely harbour view and while it was down to luck, we enjoyed the northern lights from the comforts of our room. - Restaurant was really busy. No system in the morning and the staff hanging around are mostly there to clean up the used dishes. There should be a queue system when the restaurant is full. Additionally, night time service seems to be overwhelmed with tour (cruise?) group and conference guests, which is understandable especially if you don’t have a reservation. But staffers should inform diners if it would take more than an hour to serve the food. - Reception not always the friendliest, though they do try to be helpful.

The breakfast was great, there was absolutely nothing missing and left nothing to be desired. The location right in the city center was also perfect. The bathroom was good, especially the shower was great! The lobby and breakfast room are attractively furnished. We had booked a family room (up to 4 people) for 3 adults. The room was much, much too small for this! There was only one space for suitcases and no storage for packing and unpacking. As the suitcases were very dirty due to the winter weather, it was out of the question to put them on the bed. There were no closets, shelves or anything like that, just a coat rack. There were not enough hooks in the bathroom. There was also no safe. It would be nice if there was a shoe shine machine in the house, absolutely essential in muddy weather. Also, the carpeting in the hallways is very run down.

The location is excellent, only a three- to five-minute walk from the event center and one minute from the bus station. The front desk restaurant and room service staff were very friendly and helpful. The room is not too small for this city and the bed is a bit soft. The most commendable thing is that it includes breakfast, dinner and afternoon tea, which are served for a long time. There is basically no need to go out to eat in restaurants. Especially when you come with friends, you can eat in the restaurant at your own pace, saving a lot of time. You know During the peak tourist season, it takes a long time to wait for a seat at an outside restaurant to order a meal. The variety and taste of the food are pretty good. It is a highly recommended hotel.

My wife and I arrived the early morning of Monday, June 10th. We had just arrived after our NCL cruise, and were hoping to drop off our luggage until check in time. Upon arrival it was freaking busy, with numerous cruise ship people both coming, and heading out. With that, we were greeted right away, and offered a meeting room to store our luggage until check in. Everyone we met at the hotel, from the front desk workers, to the numerous women working in the dining room area, were wonderful. We came back sometime after 3pm, and our room was still not ready. No big deal, as we then checked out more of Tromso, and had dinner. We were eventually checked in. Our room was clean and comfortable. It looked good and it smelled good. The beds were comfortable. Everything worked well. The shower door setup was something of a mess. You would have water all over the bathroom floor unless you limited the water flow, and made sure the shower head was more in a certain direction. After the learning curve we were able to somewhat control the size of the water on the floor. The room faced the back of the building, right against an office building. If you were not careful you could give some of the office workers quite a show. The beds were comfy. And the star of the show was the complimentary breakfast, afternoon cake and coffee, and the complimentary dinner. The breakfast was very yummy, with lots of choices, both hot and cold items. Along with coffee and juices. The afternoon coffee had some very yummy cakes. And the dinner was super good, and varied each night. All the meals seemed like there was some serious thought and effort to the spread. The dinner was a very pleasant surprise. Each day they posted the dinner menu. The hotel is right downtown, close to everything. So convenient. We had a wonderful stay. We would absolutely stay again.

This hotel is really nice, with an excellent location. It is one of the few hotels in Europe that provides disposable slippers and free ice cream for children. The room is large, the service is good, there is a free sauna, and the breakfast is very good.

Stayed for 2 nights! The room was cosy, and cute. The bed was really hard though, but the pillows were thick and soft! It was tidy and clean, and the bathroom was great with good pressure in the shower! The rooms had a TV with chromecast! Also the lights in the room were easy to control :) The hotel is really close to airport and traffic, but it's well isolated so we didn't get bothered by the noise of the traffic. As mentioned the hotel is close to ”jekta”, just a few minutes walk. And it's not a long drive if you prefer to bathe at ”Tromsø badet” It's easy to get there by car, but if you don't like driving there is a bus stop for route 28 right beside the hotel which makes it easier to travel to the mainland and back. Reception, bar and breakfast is at the top floor, with lot of room to he social or just enjoy the sight alone. They also had board games you could use! The only REALLY minus of our stay were that the service were a bit slow. We asked for help with the TV several times without luck. But I am not to mad about it due to few personel and high workload while we were there. (And the personel were really nice and polite) The hotel may wanna make an easier note that breakfast is NOT included in the room (as they traditionally are in tromsoe). And also how much breakfast cost! On your website it only says when breakfast is served (and that it's free until March 2024, which it were not). We were informed in the morning breakfast was 199 NOK per person, luckily with shopping center close by, and food market breakfast is easy to acquire. To sum it up: will stay at the hotel next time as well!

The location is great for visiting Tromso. We walked to the Cathedral and to the city easily. We stayed in their explore cabin for one night and one night on a pitch in turf. The receptionist told us that when we checked out at 1pm we could go to cabin because nobody was there the night before. We said how kind. When we went in at 1:30 the next day,Maya was about to give us the keys and Victoria interrupted in Norwegian and said that the cabin was being cleaned. We know nobody stayed in any of the cabins the night before because we had to walk to see if our campervan would fit in parking space. She then lied again and said the windows were being cleaned. Which was another lie. We understand that check-in was 3pm to the cabin. For some reason she didn’t want to let us check in earlier. Customer service is if you can accommodate why wouldn’t you? Her co-workers said we could and they even looked dumbfounded when she interrupted them. (We never asked to check-I’m early) On Taco Night” we saw Victoria. She was off shift at 6:35pm on Friday, she deliberately went in front of other guests and ate all the meat, ect. piling on so much food on her plate eating everything and the rest of us in line got nothing. We asked the cook if she was going to make more she said she wasn’t making more. It was an all you can eat buffet until 8pm. The male receptionist asked the quests if they wanted a refund. We got our money back and left. Overall the place is great to visit Tromso and the staff was great except for Victoria. I’m not sure if she was having a rough day,but she needs a refresher in Customer Service. We Came back the next morning and the chef with pink hair was amazing and the breakfast was great!
Scandic Grand Tromsø

The best way to describe this hotel is average in every way. Everything in Tromso is ”central” - it's not a big place so that isn't really a selling point. The rooms are very small (even the ”deluxe” ones) and there are only two elevators for a pretty sizable 8 story hotel so get ready for the stairs. I paid extra to be on the 8th floor because I read the reviews about the nightclub underneath and boy they were right - I could hear thumping well into the night so bring your earplugs (the club appears to only be open Thursday - Saturday so if you're travelling outside of that, I'm sure it's more tolerable to try to sleep). Hindsight being 20/20, I would've paid $30-40 more to stay at one of the better rated hotels.

We had booked another apartment but for disguiding we were here. I must say that the apartment is really well furnished, with tasty and with everything you need to live there. I was a little bit disgusted at first that being in 5 over 3 bedrooms we had asked 2 bathrooms that were in the other solution. But here there was only one ... giant! We were good! It is excellent in the centre, near the supermarket, marine, etc. One neo,x we had a person with deambulation problems, the staircases x climb to the second floor.

Arrived on the resort’s shuttle bus from Tromso. Beautiful place situated right on the water of the fjord, hotel is lovely and the cabins are wonderfully scandi and cosy just as you would expect. The cabin we had rented was beautifully decorated and had 3 beds and 2 bathrooms with full kitchen so self catering was possible in our cabin but there are no shops nearby unless you have your own transport. We were aware of this so we did bring some food supplies with us from Tromso. We did a couple of the activities,; snowmobiling and cross country skiing both of which were very well organised and all outdoor clothes were provided if you needed. Staff in the resort were very friendly but also very professional. We found ALL staff very helpful especially Rita on reception who went above and beyond for my daughter. Breakfast buffet was lovely and restaurant food was tasty and nicely presented however the only downside was that the restaurant menu was a little limited and we felt that the hotel could have maybe made more of the chance for more casual dining in the bar/pub. Having said that we did ask to eat our meal in the bar on one occasion and also asked for items that were only on the lunchtime menu. The staff did absolutely everything they could to accommodate us and nothing was too much trouble. In summary, this is a stunning place, lovely hotel and lovely staff - we would not hesitate to return. We had an absolutely amazing holiday.
