A beautiful beachfront hotel that is perfect for romantic getaways and a cheaper alternative, yet still luxury, to standard 5 star hotels. Location wise the hotel isn’t great as it’s very remote from the strip/city centre and taxi prices are not particularly cheap in Madeira. The rooms are spacious and stunning, well worth it with a great selection for the breakfast buffet and plenty of restaurants/options for dinner. A lovely love band/musician plays every night which is also great. Overall a wonderful stay with much friendly staff, however if you are looking to do much sightseeing in Madeira, this hotel is not the best option unless a significant amount is left for travel.

This is a beautiful hotel and definitely deserves its rating. Our room was gorgeous and had a great view overlooking the hills. The pool area is lovely, it has great views from every side. There were always sun loungers available and it is a peaceful and relaxing space. We never normally bother with breakfast but it was too good to miss, plenty of choice and all freshly cooked. It was great fun watching Bella the robot. We had a meal in the rooftop restaurant and lunch in the pool bar and it was all excellent. The staff were all great too, all really helpful and polite.

Everything was fantastic, hotel location, services and design of the hotel. I enjoyed the 2 nights there. Unfortunately the welcoming was not good for me as I waited for 3 hours and 20 minutes. Yes I came early before the check in time which is 2 Pm and I came at 11:50 and the front deck staff ( Eduard ) confirm to me that my room will be ready at 2 pm but till 3:10 pm only I got to my room after I esclate my issue to the front deck manager ( Peter ), the problem was not about the time I lost, but the attitude of front deck staff as he is looking to my face multiple times and he didn’t come to say sorry that your room not yet ready just to apologizing…

We did really enjoy our stay. Our room was lovely and clean, and the staff very friendly. I do however encourage the management to pay more attention to maintenance details before it’s too late; the hotel is on the cusp of customers legitimately challenging its five-star status. Just maintenance details but lots of them for example worn-out terrace and pool furniture, broken decking light fixtures around the pool, blown light bulbs in common spaces, worn-out/broken spa equipment and more. It’s these details that really define a proud five-star hotel vs. a hotel slowly moving towards a change of ownership. It just needs a manager to walk around with more critical eyes and get these jobs done before the start of the next main season, before it becomes too overwhelming for a hotel of this size.
Dreams Madeira Resort Spa & Marina

I can not rate Dreams Madeira enough. From the moment we got there, to the moment we left, the staff were absolutely unbelievable. A special thanks to ALL staff, including the Yoga coaches, the aqua aerobics teachers and the spa team, a special thanks to Natacha for truly going above and beyond. We booked this stay to celebrate a 35th birthday and Dreams did not disappoint! Also a big thanks to Sandra for being such a kind hearted and friendly member of staff. The resort is SO big, so much choice of food and activities (including the tours at marina!) Hotel was super clean, room was perfect, the hospitality was unmatched. Will definitely be returning! My first trip to Madeira and this hotel was such a great choice. close enough to Funchal centre to be within walking distance and quiet enough you didn't feel like you were in a big city. The view was fabulous and sunrise a joy. Surrounded by gardens the morning bird chorus was amazing and a great way to wake up. The Hotel was built in the 70's and is showing a little age but in a charming way. Being an architecture lover I was in hog heaven to view this Oscar Meyermier classic... The rooms are large enough for two, Clean, great shower, tidied everyday and all the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. A few other reviews have complained about the food but for the price, I found it just right. Already looking forward to my next stay in September.

Excelent choice for our stay in Madeira. The hotel is located in a natural botanical garden - some will count this as a minus, but I disagree. On our arrival, at 2AM - Bolt cost was 25USD (31kms). Excelent service, very clean, lots of activities and friendly staff. Totally recommended.

Excellent hotel in a good location - 15 minutes walk from central Funchal - but situated on the sea front with access to and views of the sea. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast was excellent. Pool areas were excellent, though only one of the outdoor sea water filled pools was heated. Indoor chlorinated pool was also heated. Hotel is located amongst other hotels but has the best location of the many and is quiet. We slept with patio doors open.

Schade….

Good points. Views are amazing. Staff helpful and hardworking. Restaurant was very good. Lots of choice and tables cleared quickly. Dine out option a positive. We went twice to Mama Mia and ate from the special menu and it was superb. Beautifully presented and nice atmosphere. Staff here were also excellent. Lunch at pool bar good value and once again great good. Plenty of sunbeds so no need to rush in the morning. Bad points. Room was tired, dated and bland. Very much in need of a refurbish. Furniture was awful. Chipped, cheap and not of any decent standard. Toilet toll holder fell off the wall on day 1 and eventually on day 4 I had to report as housekeeping didn’t. Was fixed straightaway. Rug in room was stained and old. Not pleasant. Ghastly mirrored walls in the bathroom. We’re not all Kate Moss. It’s something I never want you to see again. The hotel ambassador visited the room and agreed with the poor stsndard of the room. Explained the hotel was being refurbished. As an apology sent fruit and wine to the room which was a nice gesture. However the room should have not been occupied like this. Certainly nowhere close to what we envisioned. Sun deck was a mass of grey concrete. Lots of attention needed here. One of the rails into the pool roped off as wobbly. Was like that the whole week. Lots of broken concrete. However with a bit of refurbish and maybe a bit of colour as it is so bland it would be worth a revisit. Jet2 should be aware of the above and adjust prices accordingly. Not quite a 5 star experience. The hotel ambassador was very good, apologetic and listened to our issues. A report was done.
