5-Star Hotels in Qinghai, China

This is an old hotel that has been so popular that the owners got lazy and forgot that the image of luxury must be backed up by actual service quality. On the outside and in the lobby, it's luxurious. In the actual rooms the impression is very underwhelming: old furniture, tiny TV and no electronic features, especially considering that the room is large and the price is high. The quality of room maintenance is bad (see attached photos): - bedsheet with holes and ripped edge; - sofa with ripped covering; - towel with ripped edge; - dents on wooden wardrobe doors; - dirty finger marks on the wall; - desk lamp with a bent plug; - clogged shower (water was drying out during the whole night); - one of the lights wasn't working. This is unacceptable for such a high price and luxurious marketing, especially considering high Chinese service standards and more Western-oriented marketing of this hotel (it would be a very bad and untrue representation of a ”chinese hotel”). There were only three good things about our stay: great breakfasts (there was coffee!), nice location and nice view. Overall, this could've been truly an amazing accommodation (location, food, luxurious lobby) if only the owners cared to renovate the rooms slightly, add more modern facilities and force the stuff to be more mindful of cleanliness and ripped bedsheets/towels/sofa. But seemingly the owners do not care, so I strongly do not recommend this hotel if you're looking for high quality service.

The hotel is ideally located in a business district, well-equipped with facilities, including a free laundry room. The breakfast was a pleasant surprise, a delightful mix of Chinese and Western dishes, featuring exquisite Chinese pastries and authentic Western options. The variety was extensive, and the taste was excellent. The bedding was comfortable. Highly recommended!

This time, I took annual leave and brought my mom to Xining before the National Day holiday. I chose this Sofitel hotel on Trip.com. Three days before check-in, I received a confirmation call from the hotel and added the concierge on WeChat, which felt quite friendly. Upon arrival, due to weather issues, our flight was delayed by about an hour, and it was already past 10 PM. The front desk lady was still fully focused and quickly handled our check-in, also providing some tips about the weather and getting around. The room was quite spacious and even had a humidifier. For some reason, my lips felt very dry during my stay in Xining, but I didn't have that feeling back in Shanghai. The bed was soft yet supportive, and my back felt very comfortable after a night's sleep. The pillows were also suitable, and my neck and shoulders didn't ache. The teabags provided in the room were also very fragrant and not bitter. The toilet paper was thick and reassuring to use. The housekeeping lady even left a handwritten card, which felt very heartwarming. The hotel's second-floor banquet hall often hosts wedding banquets. During my stay in Xining, I stumbled upon several weddings, including Tibetan-style ones. I even encountered a lady in ******* traditional dress in the elevator who enthusiastically invited us to observe, allowing us to experience ******* wedding culture. Overall, the Sofitel truly offered good value, even exceeding expectations.

Booking the Guanhu International Hotel was the smartest decision I made on this Qinghai Lake trip! As the first 5-diamond hotel around the lake, its facilities are truly impressive, but what really made it feel like great value for money was the warm service. I have to give a special shout-out to our little ******* fox butler! They proactively contacted us before check-in to help plan our itinerary. During our stay, whether it was recommending the best sunset viewing spots or promptly responding to our various small requests, the ******* fox butler was incredibly meticulous, gentle, and patient. That feeling of 'everything is taken care of' completely washed away our travel fatigue and truly made us feel at home! The hotel restaurant also gave me a huge surprise! I originally thought dining in a scenic area might be a hit or miss, but the dishes were amazing, and the ingredients were incredibly fresh. From authentic highland beef and lamb to the yak yogurt in the special breakfast, everything was unforgettable. Enjoying delicious food by the window while admiring the vast lake view was a truly wonderful experience. I will definitely choose this place again next time I visit Qinghai Lake!

My stay at this Solo Starry Camp exceeded my expectations, and I have to give a huge shout-out to my dedicated butler! Before my arrival, the butler proactively contacted me, thoughtfully sending check-in tips including the room's Wi-Fi password, meal times and locations for all three meals, and even sent the restaurant menu in advance for our reference. What's more, they meticulously organized a travel guide for Water Yadan, truly considering every aspect. During my stay, no matter what questions I had, the butler always responded promptly and patiently. Their quick responses throughout made all the difference, and their attention to detail was incredibly heartwarming. Being in the vast and desolate Gobi, I was initially worried about various inconveniences on the journey. However, thanks to the butler's meticulous and thoughtful service, all my concerns melted away, making us feel completely at ease in the wilderness. The camp's scenery is absolutely stunning, and the views of Water Yadan are breathtaking. At night, you can even see a sky full of brilliant stars. But what impressed me most was the butler's genuine attentiveness – it wasn't just a procedural reception, but rather a focus on understanding and anticipating the guests' needs from their perspective. This was a truly healing and unforgettable journey through the Northwest wilderness. I highly recommend it! Next time I return to this Gobi, I'll definitely look for this same butler, eagerly anticipating another trip under the starry sky 🌌

I had a wonderful stay! The room was spacious and well-designed, spotlessly clean, and completely odor-free. The bed was so soft and comfortable, I slept like a baby. The bathroom had a great wet/dry separation, and there was plenty of hot water, with all the essential amenities provided. The hotel staff were incredibly warm, attentive, and friendly. The location is super convenient for transportation, yet the surroundings are peaceful and quiet. It’s definitely an excellent choice for a trip. The hygiene was top-notch; there wasn't a speck of dust or dirt anywhere, and the room was well-ventilated with a comfortable temperature. The soundproofing was fantastic, making for a truly quiet night's rest. The facilities were excellent, with soft, pleasant lighting. The staff were responsive and friendly. This hotel offers much better value for money than others in its price range, and I would genuinely recommend it and definitely return.

Staying at the Qaidam International Hotel in Xining was such a breeze! The room was clean and even had a humidifier, which is perfect for the high-altitude climate. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The front desk staff were enthusiastic and efficient, and the soundproofing was excellent. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I'm here.

Before starting our Loop Line tour, we chose the Sanyu Hotel for our stay in Xining and had a great experience. So, upon returning to Xining after the tour, we decided to stay at Sanyu again. The front desk lady was sweet and enthusiastic. The welcome snacks and local yogurt were delicious, especially the yogurt with its fragrant milk skin. Our room on the 23rd floor offered a wide-open view. Not far away, there was a morning market by the river, perfect for pretending to be a local and enjoying a leisurely stroll. The facilities were well-maintained, and the room had good soundproofing. For breakfast, there were some local specialty foods, and I even tried half a bowl of ******* savory milk tea, which was quite good. Overall, it was great, and I recommend it!

The hotel breakfast was very rich, and the environment and hygiene were excellent. Less than half an hour after checking out, I received a call from housekeeper Xiaoqi. My child had left a charger in the room, and there wasn't enough time to go back and get it. Xiaoqi then arranged for it to be mailed, which I greatly appreciate.

The hotel is in the city center, very close to Daxing Street, surrounded by several lively pedestrian streets, making it very convenient to sample various local specialties. The hotel lobby is elegantly decorated, with a great sense of design and luxury – truly befitting a long-standing five-star hotel. The front desk service was warm and efficient with check-in. Although the room wasn't huge, it was comfortable enough. The furniture and bathroom fixtures felt a bit dated, but everything was spotlessly clean. The hotel's breakfast was the absolute highlight. The dining area was spacious and comfortable, and the dishes were plentiful, varied, and delicious. The small cup of chicken soup, in particular, was incredibly flavorful, and the Cantonese-style buns were also excellent. With both Chinese and Western options, it caters to different guests' preferences. Choosing Qinghai Hotel was a great decision. I hope they continue to maintain their high standards!
