The location was a bit out of the way, quite far from the city center. We had to rely entirely on taxis or Uber to get around, with fares to the city center costing over €30 during peak hours and around €20 off-peak.
The room itself was quite small, and there was no table for eating. We had to use the tables on the ground floor if we wanted to dine.
What's more, a hairdryer wasn't provided in the room. When I went down to the front desk to ask for one, they requested a €20 deposit. I asked if I needed to bring it back at check-out, and the staff member said to just leave it in the room. This was rather inconvenient – shouldn't such information be provided during check-in? Plus, I had to wait a long time in line just to get the hairdryer.
But the most frustrating part was this: I didn't receive my deposit back several days after checking out. After I contacted the hotel through Ctrip, they informed me I had to go to the front desk to collect it in cash. Seriously? They didn't mention this policy when I picked up the hairdryer; it was only *after* I had left that they told me a card refund wasn't possible and it had to be cash. I've never encountered anything like this before. Every other hotel I've stayed at processes card refunds directly after check-out. This is genuinely the first time I've heard of a guest being told to come back to collect a cash refund after they've already departed.
Easyhotel has been great every time so far. You don't have to expect much, but it is very ideal for 1 or 2 nights. This is certainly true if you have a concert at AFAS, Ziggo or JHC Arena. It is all within walking distance and the hotel is right next to Bijlmer Arena station. Until next time!

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for couples. The bed is TINY and we had to sleep top and tail to fit in the bed.
Loads of stag groups causing carnage and shouting inappropriate comments to passers by.
The bar downstairs is nice, but hotel staff are a bit dismissive.
The shower steam set off our alarm in the room and the lady from the desk was outside our room banging on the door in seconds. She stormed in and I explained what happened and she didn’t believe me and took it upon herself to check the shower room.. made us feel uncomfortable as the whole hotel smelt like **** so other people were clearly smoking inside!
The location is great if you want to be in the heart of Amsterdam, it’s 2 streets from the red light (make of that what you will).
We wouldn’t stay again, we prefer to stay in a further out hotel and commute into the centre by tram.

It's incredibly convenient, and the airport shuttle service is really efficient. The surrounding area is lovely too; I saw lots of wild rabbits hopping outside my window in the morning. The room was a bit small, but perfectly adequate for an overnight stop.

If you have to use the train or bus at the railway station CENTRAAL, the hostel is the perfect location. Just 15 minutes walk. There is a large supermarket 10 minted away. As the breakfast is included in the price it is really cheap.
overall a good stay, but what you pay is what you get for, basic amenities only. no fridge or water boiler. but lobby had water dispenser. apart from that, if you reach earlier, early check in will be 20euros. and if you want to store your luggage at counter, will be 5 euros per locker. Huge shoutout to the friendly counter staff tho, very friendly and helpful, thankyou.
The room is very stylish, with many thoughtful little designs! All facilities are new and clean. The bathroom is a single cubicle, and each cubicle includes a place to take a shower and change clothes. It is very quiet at night, and the soundproofing is also very good. The location of the hotel is very convenient, and the front desk staff is also very considerate and nice, and can store luggage for free. I will stay in the city hub series of hotels indefinitely, it is really a fan!
This place is convenient and cost effective as compared to other hotel options. The rooms are as the name indicates capsule size. Bathroom is large A cleaning cleaning my room realised I left a hard copy of my ticket behind he came down to give it to me and I showed him my soft copy I wanted to tip him but he was reluctant to take it. I am sharing this to show why I give the staff 5 stars. This is my second time here.

Good location and service!
The staffs are very friendly and willing to help. The hotel is well-decorated and good design.
Everything is very clean and well managed. The bathrooms are huge and toilets are comfy.
They provided the shampoo and shower gel from Marie Stella Maris. Very nice!
We got our free coffee and tea in the morning, I was surprised that the staff brew it for us but not on self service side, it was perfect! The free little stroopwafel is really yummy. 😁
We even got a small tote bag as souvenir. 😚
The towels are all very clean and soft.
Just abit surprising that the luggage storage room is actually a garbage room. It was funny but thats okay.
I would definitely comeback next time when I visit Ams again! 😘

GGuest UserLocation: it's a great location because it's only a less than 10 minute walk from the Amsterdam Central station. It's so convenient. But the hostel entrance/reception is located inside a pub/restaurant. Personally I have no problem with this. I just find this interesting. There was also a security-looking guy standing at the entrance at night every day too, so it was pretty safe.
Cleanliness: it was very clean. Every day someone took out the trash and cleaned the bathroom for us, which I didn't expect. They gave us a new, clean towel every day too. I really like these things about the hostel.
Service: It depends on who you meet. The ladies that I talked to were all friendly and helpful. But there was a guy that was rather unhelpful and rude. I asked, ”Do you have data sim cards?” He said, ”No, we don't provide for that.” (Of course I knew the hostel didn't provide sim cards for free; I was asking if the hostel *sells* sim cards.) I asked, ”Do you know where I can get one? I can't get on the internet with the hostel wifi.” He said, ”There's no problem with the hostel wifi, otherwise a lot of people would be complaining about it.” (I wasn't complaining about the hostel wifi wasn't working; I was asking if he knew where I could get a sim card since I couldn't get on the internet to look for them.)
Facilities: I like that there was a curtain on each bed. The bed and the room were also spacious enough. The windows were almost soundproof, isolating all the noises from the people drinking downstairs. The bathroom was also very clean. The only thing I didn't like was that there were brown stains on the blanket, which looked disgusting. There was also space for luggages (it's on the 2nd floor) if you don't want to store them in your room. There was, however, no kitchen or common areas. But the room was big enough and had a table. It was ok for me.
One thing I really didn't like were the people who stayed in my room. All of them were obnoxious: wouldn't clean up after using the bathroom (hair everywhere), leaving their stuff in the bathroom/on the table so others couldn't use the space/table, kept coughing all night (meaning they were sick) and wouldn't open the windows for ventilation. I hardly had a good night's sleep because they kept coughing at night. But this wasn't the hostel's fault. It's those people's problems.
All in all, I recommend staying at this hotel.
AAnonymous UserExtremely disappointing experience.
The room was messy and poorly maintained from the start — dirty floors, clothes and trash everywhere, and absolutely no sense of hygiene. My roommates were loud and inconsiderate, making it impossible to rest. I requested a room change, but staff said all rooms were full.
I haven’t had a proper night’s sleep in two days, and it completely ruined my trip. Definitely not worth the money, and I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a clean or peaceful stay.
LloreleikvltWe had been really concerned after pre paying this hotel then reading bad reviews that had us convinced we would need to wear plastic suits the entire visit,, so I thought I'd give my review based around the concerns we had read, to try and be helpful ! some of the things were true , the sheets did come off the bed on mine but I wiggle but my friends both stayed on their beds. super annoying but I just slid it back on and you can always throw your cover over it instead and ask for another . Fortunately we didn't come across the bed bugs people mentioned !, the cat seemed happy and not flea ridden.. however the room was clean enough , no obvious mould. The beds were comfortable enough. The bathroom was clean and quite nice
It wasn't huge but had ample.space for our things in the triple person room .
It's an old building with narrow windy stairs I'm glad the elevator worked. it's not a relax and sit in all day hotel..it's a place to sleep , shower ...charge your phone and keep your belongings.
The coffee machine was fine as far as basic goes.
The staff were fine
There was a fifty euro deposit on the desk, we just asked for a receipt after other things mentioned in reviews and were given a written one with no problem on leaving . We were offered one free housekeeping day as we stayed 4 nights but opted not to use it due to theft mentioned in reviews..
We stayed at the main hotel so I don't know if all the bad reviews were from the other or we just got lucky with our room but we had no problems, and when I went rustling down before hours looking for coffee the guy did help me before reception opened.
It's no paradise of a place , there are marks on the walls but faint...if you're fussy it's not the place for you but for the price and location, we really didn't mind it . It's a super great location as a base with a trendy area behind it
And a really cool vegan restaurant a tiny walk away a pub downstairs and metro train a stone's throw away
If you have the option to pay on arrival ask to see.your room first.you could take that route
Just to be safe, but all up it was fine..3 women travelling together there was no unsafe feeling there .
We didn't find it noisy.
GGuest UserAmazing Find! Five Stars
We stayed in Hotel Van Gelder for two nights in June at the end of a month-long European tour.
Amsterdam, in line with most European cities, has become really expensive in the past few years. So we were happy to find somewhere close to the main train station that was reasonably inexpensive and well-reviewed.
What an amazing find. We were so lucky. The hotel is a few hundred metres from the train station near where the canal boat tours leave from. The hotel entrance is very unassuming and is just a doorway leading up to a lovely surprise.
We arrived early and were warmly welcomed by the guy at reception. We had requested a quiet room doubting it was possible at such a prime location. Fortunately, the hotel extends back from the main street and the room we got was not only spacious and spotlessly clean, but also quiet.
The real highlight of our stay was the staff at the hotel. Everyone we met was extremely helpful and friendly. The reception staff couldn't do enough to help. Nothing was a problem. The entire hotel was spotlessly clean with some of the hardest working cleaning staff I have ever seen.
We will definitely be staying here in the future and highly recommend it.
GGuest UserEverything was great, i will come back next time, there was free drink when i checked in and checked out and a cute little gift, the place was very clean and the location was convenient to get around.
Zzhengtingoverall a good stay, but what you pay is what you get for, basic amenities only. no fridge or water boiler. but lobby had water dispenser. apart from that, if you reach earlier, early check in will be 20euros. and if you want to store your luggage at counter, will be 5 euros per locker. LLulu lala Great location. The rooms are like cottages made of cardboards (you can hear people walking from theother rooms), no air conditioner (in summer you have to sleep with your windows open), no minibar. The key cards don't work. As much as it’s priced okay but the service is not worth the price.
GGuest UserThis hotel is more like a hostel. There are steep stairs to the 1st and 2nd floors. It is situated in a bustling street around 1.8km from Amsterdam Central Station. There are many shops, cafes and restaurants nearby. Staff are helpful but only in a perfunctory manner. The hotel rooms are very small and closely situated together. They are clean and comfortable enough however. Clean towels are provided daily. TV and small electric fan also included. There is no complimentary bottled water so you will need to buy your own.
Now to the negatives of staying here … if you are looking for a quiet place to rest for the night do not choose this hotel. The rooms are not well soundproofed and there is a lot of people to-ing and fro-ing late at night, knocking on doors, opening and shutting doors, talking loudly in the corridor, not to mention thumping dance music going on into the small hours from adjacent rooms. A lack of consideration for other hotel guests seemingly prevails. Overall, this is more like an overpriced hostel than a mid-priced hotel, and if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing place to sleep then you should avoid booking here.
