Hotel location is very good, in the center of Wellington, the parking lot is on the upper floor, to go up a steep slope, parking fee 15 NZ / day. The interior decoration is a bit antique and has a sense of history. The downside is that I arrived at the hotel on Christmas Eve, and the front desk was closed (should be at 7 pm), saying that I sent an email to me, but I didn't find it in fact. Still the cleaning guy, contacted me, opened the key box, and got the key.

BBJBMDAn excellent choice in Wellington. Plenty of restaurants down the street a block from hotel. Fruit and small grocery across the street from front door. 500 meters from Cuba street and lots of eclectic shops. Excellent value , room was large and nice. Love the staff there. IQ of staff was higher than mine.

BBenny MarcusAura Hotel is located right next to the vibrant Cuba street and Courtenay place. The room on level 2, block J was spacious and in great condition. However, the first room I was assigned in Block 'N' had a strong, suffocating smell and lacked windows. I called the front desk to request a room change since I couldn't find any windows in that room or the dining area, only to be informed that all blocks in the hotel were windowless. As I walked back to the front desk, I noticed a block with open windows. The front desk staff wasn't happy with me for checking other blocks and also annoyed when I informed him that I knocked on neighboring 5 empty rooms in the Block, without any response, to enquire if they experience the smell too. The personnel claimed that the block I saw was the only one with windows and was fully booked. I returned to my initial room, but the odor persisted, prompting me to return the keys and applied for a refund. After almost an hour, we inspected the room again with the receptionist, and surprisingly, the smell had vanished. Despite this strange encounter, I still opted for a room change. I was given another room in block 'J', which, while also lacking windows, it had a better odour. As I explored the floor after settling in, I discovered several other blocks with windows. This experience reflected very poor service and dodgy misleading information from the front desk. The first six uploaded images are of Block N, while the subsequent images, beginning with the keys, showcase Block J.

GGuest UserThe location is quite convenient, there are many restaurants around the building, especially many Chinese restaurants. The transportation is also quite convenient, the overall environment is quite clean, and the facilities are quite complete.

MMarcel MeulmanIn the heart of the downtown city close to the action if you like to go out in the evening. We missed the airco as it was warm on our room. We had nice view on the church next to the hotel

SShiela EsmoladaI have enjoyed my stay in Richmond Hotel. The staff is very accomodating. I have arrived past the check-in period and still managed to check-in through the help of Dinah😊, even left some fresh milk in the fridge. I really appreciate it coz I was so hungry and tired after a long bus journey😊. I also loved the bed, it aids with my sore body after a 12hr bus journey.

JJakrisThe location and room type were fantastic! Being right next to the train station and ferry was so convenient, and I loved being able to walk along the beach. However, the room had a very unpleasant, damp odor—almost like old carpet or pet accidents. It didn’t feel clean at all, and I actually had to buy my own room spray to make it bearable. Great spot, but the room hygiene needs urgent attention.

AAnonymous UserThe in-room facilities, like the cabinets and drawers, were a bit dated but still functional; everything else was pretty good. Also, I booked a King Room, but the 'king bed' was actually two twin beds pushed together. There was a gap in the middle, and if you happened to sleep there, you might accidentally shift the bed. If this bothers you, you might want to reconsider. Otherwise, everything else was decent. The room was quite spacious, and its downtown location was convenient. The only minor issue was some motorcycle noise from the street at night, but it wasn't frequent. Finally, regarding the service, I'm docking one point here. The hotel initially requested my credit card details for their system to charge for any potential damages. This isn't an issue in itself, but the lady who checked me in explained it unprofessionally, which made me a bit wary. In reality, this charge was a pre-authorization done through a POS machine via the bank system, which is quite secure, rather than being stored in their own system. Furthermore, the receptionist took my credit card and processed the authorization herself, which I found unreasonable. At another hotel I stayed at, the front desk clearly explained it was a pre-authorization and brought the POS machine to me so I could swipe my card myself after confirming. If I swipe it myself and something goes wrong later, I'll take responsibility. But if someone else handles my card, I'll think of that incident if an issue arises, even though this particular operation seems safe. I'm just saying it's neither professional nor standard practice. She just took my credit card, and I didn't confirm the entire process. However, since no substantial problems occurred, I still find it acceptable, just a bit annoying. Other than that, everything else was quite good, and I would still recommend it, though I hope they improve their service procedures through better training.

GGuest UserThe staff were great location was excellent but the state of the apartment was extremely poor. Dishes hadn’t been cleaned, the toilet was leaking from the base, the kitchen was dirty and there was a cockroach on the wall in the kitchen.

PPattersonAlways thoroughly enjoy my stay here. Very convenient, a step away from central Courtenay Place. Parking is convenient and easily accessed. Rooms are fully equipped with kitchenette that has its own dishwasher/cooktop/fridge etc. super comfy bed and nice little balcony. Really nice open plan bathroom/wet room and lighting is great for dolling up! It’s the PERFECT spot for a night out on the town. Always will be booking here for when I am needing to spend my night in Central Wellington for events. Christian H at the counter is a very nice and welcoming work colleague.
