Stayed for one night in a twin lake view room with en-suite.
The view is worth it.
Staff were friendly, room was clean, easy to check in and out.
Location was easily signposted and parking available.
5/10min walk to a few local chip shop a bar and shops if needed as well as access to the bar and restaurant on site.
We stayed on a Sunday in June which was quiet.
The building is an older building so very creaky but that is very much part of the charm.
Tea/coffee and kettle provided in room as well as a small Scottish cookie treat.
Perfect stop off for further travel north or any other situation.
Would definitely book again.
the stay was decent. What stands out from all the similar properties is really really really good bed (double bed turned out to more of a superking), nice size tv (50+ inch), sockets with USB are a bonus. interior design is subjective to taste but its not my priority at this price. I guess one can highlight fresh furniture.
Bathroom: Clean shower, standard number of towels and shower mat, hair drier, heated towel rack, shampoo/soap/body lotion and soap bar.
Waiting staff was very nice and helpful.
Breakfast: the breakfast is usual full Scottish breakfast variety buffet, (fried eggs, black pudding, hashbrowns, scones, sausages, bacon, beans) with plenty condiments available as well as 3 types of toast, couple of cheeses and hams, fruit salad, yoghurts, various sweet pastries. Full set of teas, jams honeys etc, but coffee could be a little better, but again cannot complaint at price.
The hotel it is definitely underrated. While some things around hotel are a little flimzy, dusty, it is very decent value. it all fades away when you realise how nice it is to have a fresh large bed and that it is basically minutes away from ferry terminal. Great views are come as a big bonus.
Note for parking: very limited, but you can park at council carpark not far away at reasonable cost.

This landmark hotel is just five minutes walk from Inveraray Castle and the living museum of Inveraray Jail, and is an ideal base for exploring the beautiful western Highlands and Islands of Scotland.
PLEASE NOTE this property does not have a lift and the upper floors are accessible via a spiral staircase.
Perfect location close to rail station.Lots of positive points, however hotel was dated in parts, room carpet flooring was unstable so had to exercise caution not to trip and cause injury. Reception staff member Jamie pleasant and most helpful, so was Nicola over the phone the night before check-in. Food could be improved, with a better variety at breakfast, and providing fresh fruit.
Room allocated was not what I expected. Would stay again if better room allocated.

TtjqmThe location of the hotel is very good and the parking lot is large. Facing the bay and port, the scenery is beautiful. The room is not big and the overall feeling is rather old, but the price/performance ratio here is very high
GGuest UserWe had a sea view room which had a great view, but the windows were so dirty and cobwebs in the corners that it actually spoiled that for us. The staff and service they provided was excellent, but however I expected a wider variety of meals but the menu was very limited. It was nice to sit at the tables provided outside when having drinks, but again the metal railings at the tables had a lot of chipped and flaked paint and made the hotel look rather run down. The dining rooms and all the seating areas with lovely leather chairs was very nice on the ground floor, but moving up the stairs there was black tape holding the red tartan carpet together, our room actually had small nails holding the wallpaper on the walls. It all looked great online ,but close up it was rather tired.
SSu LaMy husband and I had such a great memorable time at the Pierhouse Hotel, celebrating our wedding anniversary :) All the staffs have been so amazing and could’ve done better with their hospitality! We were greeted and provided with a room with sea view which was a very nice surprise! Followed by an absolutely beautiful evening meal, fresh fish with lovely fruit tarts to finish off. Had a wonderful sleep and enjoyed our leisurely breakfast before departure. I would just like to thanks the staff(including the cleaning staff who we met during check out) for their smiles and their hospitality and please keep up your amazing work! This place is no doubt one of the best hospitality in Scotland!

HHeong Siew YinIt is very centrally located with Tesco, M n S big supermarkets just round the corner 5 minutes walk away. Some Car park spaces in front good for free parking after 6 pm to 9 am. For cheapest whole day parking, 7.50 pound can be found near the ferry pier, about 7 mins walk from hotel. Easy access to all restaurants.
Reception is within the bar in Ranald Hotel with manned staff until 11pm.
Cons in room, water shower not consistent in temperature, no washing machine and room lightings can feel too dark. But maybe a lot of lightings in that area are like that…
But all in all will recommend. Comfortable.
AAimeeeLouI stayed in a lovely single room, it’s was so warm and the bed was super comfy.
Lovely location with beautiful scenery, would definitely stay again.
PPHYO PHYO WAI YANG YINGThis is very small botique hotel, didn't look impressive front the entrance outside hotel. The moment we went in, it is really cozy & we were greeted by very warming in house manager & booked dinner table as well. We enjoyed their breakfast and as well as dinner, very good quality. Our concern is this hotel doesn't have lift.
