4-Star Hotels in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan

The hotel was in a very good, central location, just 3 minutes from the bus stop and 14 minutes bus ride from Kyoto station. I booked a 20m twin room with large single beds. However, the room was 12m at the most. I asked the head receptionist about this. I was then offered a larger room at extra cost which I declined. The room was fairly clean with fresh towels provided every day. It was well equipped with a kettle and a small fridge. There was no wardrobe, just 4 hangers to hang clothes on a hook. There was no storage. The soundproofing was good as I could not hear the other guests. There was a washing machine available for 500 yen which was very useful. For breakfast, there was a wide selection of tasty food which I recommend. The spa was nice and free of charge, however there was 1000 yen charge for the gym.

I didn't expect to find such a great value hotel during my summer trip. The last time I was in Kyoto was in 2023, and for some reason, hotel prices across the city were generally skyrocketing then. This year, the value for money was truly exceptional, and I was very satisfied with everything, especially meeting Mr. Yang, a Chinese staff member, right after checking in! He was incredibly kind and meticulously explained the hotel's facilities to my friend and me. He even had our luggage placed in our room before we returned. Throughout our stay, he was always responsive to our requests, making for a very smooth interaction and leaving us with an excellent impression. With such a great location and service, there's absolutely nothing to complain about. The washing machine in the room was also a high-end model that I'd be hesitant to buy for my own home; it was almost silent in operation. The only downside was that it took a bit long, sometimes up to five hours for a full cycle, though perhaps I wasn't using it correctly. Nevertheless, the clothes came out very soft and clean. My only regret is that there's a Beams store right across from the nearest subway station to the hotel, and I only discovered it as I was about to leave! It's a shame I didn't get to browse there. I'll definitely choose this hotel again on my next trip to Kyoto, and I'll make sure to visit that Beams store. I hope to see Mr. Yang again if I get the chance. Many thanks!

This hotel is super convenient, located just a short walk from Kyoto Station's Hachijo West Exit. You exit the station, turn right, take the elevator down, cross the street, and it's right there on your front-right. It's really close to Kyoto Station, and there's an Aeon mall and all sorts of great food options nearby. Plus, you'll pass a 551 HORAI bun shop near the Hachijo West Exit – there's always a line, but it's totally worth it, genuinely delicious! **Check-in:** Although check-in is officially after 3 PM, we arrived at 2:30 PM and were able to check in early. You use an automatic check-in machine, but the front desk staff were very enthusiastic and helped me with the process. **Price:** A standard triple room for two nights, including breakfast for three, cost 1897 RMB in total, which works out to 316 RMB per person per night. We stayed from Saturday to Monday, so it might be even cheaper if you stay on weekdays. **Room:** It was a standard triple room, 20 square meters, with two 1.1-meter single beds and one 1-meter sofa bed. The room size was a little on the small side, but still manageable. It had a window, but it couldn't be opened. Since it opened in 2020, the facilities are still quite new. The faucet in the bathroom provides potable water, which is drinkable directly. Note that disposable items like toothbrushes aren't included in the room; you need to pick them up from the lobby downstairs. There's a kettle in the room, which was great for my parents to make tea. They also provide pajamas, so you can pack fewer clothes. The control panel by the window can be set to Chinese, making it more user-friendly. The soundproofing in the room is excellent; even though it's near Kyoto Station, you can't hear any outside noise, making it very quiet. **Breakfast:** Served from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM. If your room includes breakfast, you'll receive breakfast coupons upon check-in. If you buy it separately, it's 2200 yen per person. The variety is decent, and the taste is quite good. They even have self-serve cold udon with a good selection of condiments, tasting just like what you'd get outside. **Luggage Storage:** Since we had another itinerary early on our third day and needed to store our luggage, there's a dedicated room downstairs for free self-service luggage storage. You can secure each piece of luggage with a combination lock, making it very safe.

I stayed here for a short trip. Even though the price was very affordable, the food was delicious, the room was spacious, and it was on the top floor. I was very satisfied, but I did notice a few spots, like above the toilet, that seemed to have been missed during cleaning. Still, it was almost perfect! 🙆‍♀️

The cleaning staff was extremely friendly and helpful, which I really appreciated. Complimentary water and coffee at the reception were also a nice touch. The location of the hotel is good, and the bathroom was modern and very clean. Unfortunately, the sleeping area of the room was not very clean, which affected the overall impression. Also, the bed is only made every three days, which I personally found inconvenient for a hotel stay. The reception staff, on the other hand, did not seem particularly friendly or welcoming. Overall, the stay was okay, but there is definitely room for improvement regarding service and room cleanliness.

The hotel's location is pretty good, less than a ten-minute walk from Kyoto Station, with plenty of restaurants nearby, making it quite lively. The hotel facilities are nice, mainly because it's new. The front desk service was just okay, mostly staffed by young, good-looking guys and girls. The room itself was very clean and quiet, with comfortable air conditioning. There's also a dehumidifier/humidifier combo unit available for use. The public bath is on the basement level; although they alternate different bathhouses daily, the decor is almost identical with little variation.

Miyako City Kintetsu Hotel ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had a lovely stay at Miyako City Kintetsu Hotel! The location is extremely convenient, making it easy to get around. There’s even a Uniqlo right in front of the hotel, which is great for some shopping. The staff are super friendly, welcoming and always happy to help. The room is surprisingly spacious, including the toilet, which is a huge plus compared to many other hotels in Japan. Everything was super clean and well maintained. Overall, a very comfortable stay with excellent service and a fantastic location. Would definitely come back again on my next visit!

We stayed at Hotel Gracery Kyoto for two nights and overall had a very comfortable stay. The hotel has two sections, and we stayed in the South building. The room was very clean, and the space was used efficiently, which is typical for Japan. The bathroom layout was a bit unusual. The toilet and shower are separate, which is convenient, but the toilet cubicle itself is extremely small. The shower is positioned in an odd space between the bath and what seems to be the shower floor, and the shower head cannot be adjusted up or down. That said, the water pressure and temperature were excellent, which made up for the layout. Bottled water was provided on the first day, which was appreciated. The TV, however, was very limited with only Japanese channels and no access to Netflix or other streaming services. The location is excellent. The hotel is right by Nishiki Market and surrounded by shops and restaurants, with multiple subway lines nearby. There are also many fantastic local restaurants in the area, which we highly recommend, especially when the market gets overwhelmingly busy. The hotel provides a wide range of amenities in the lobby, including face wash, toner, lotion, razors, combs and mouthwash. While convenient, the large amount of individually packaged items does not feel particularly environmentally friendly. We checked out the breakfast one morning but decided not to purchase it as it was 2750 yen per person, and there are plenty of better and more affordable options nearby. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and we also appreciated that the hotel offers free umbrella use on rainy days, which was a thoughtful touch. One downside was the room cleaning timing. We left early in the morning and only returned after 3pm, but the room was still being cleaned when we got back. We were asked to wait around 30 minutes, which was quite inconvenient after a long day when we wanted to rest, shower and freshen up before heading out again. Overall, a clean and well-located hotel with a few minor design quirks and service timing issues, but still a very pleasant stay.

We decided to book Nogha whilst we were in Kyoto so we could relax a little more than in previous locations. We opted for a bigger room to have some space and it didn't disappoint. The bed was huge, the room for two was a really good size. It was clean and well decorated. The bakery downstairs was a great addition, we had breakfast there on our consecutive mornings. I would thoroughly recommend it if you're looking for a nice four star hotel and something a little quiet. Staff were also lovely and our luggage had been taken to our room when we checked in.

The location is super convenient, literally just opposite Kyoto Station! The reservation team was also very helpful and responsive. I was traveling with my toddler, and since the hotel couldn’t provide a baby cot due to space constraints, I requested to have all the beds pushed together instead. They got back to me within a day of my booking and confirmed my request. A special shout-out to the front desk lady (Ms. 井, sorry I can only remember this character of your name!) at the cloak counter. She was super helpful and patient in assisting me when I messed up my luggage delivery booking. She even helped me coordinate with the delivery company to amend the booking. Really appreciate her help and patience! Overall, a great experience with a convenient location and helpful staff. 😊
