Rude and unwelcoming staff and generally not experienced professionals in the hospitality business. The main focus for them is the bar and the restaurant. I suggest you to focus on that because hosting guests is an art and serious business. From the moment we arrived we felt unwelcome. No explanation besides “breakfast starts at 8.30” - “oh but we leave at 8” … silence. “Here is the key to your room” full stop, nothing else. No offerings to help us bringing the luggage upstairs - nothing ! We had to figure out ourself where the hair dryer was, which was weirdly not in the room but in the common hall ( why would you not invest in 5 hairdryer so that each guest have its own ? What if we decided to shower all at once ? ) Same goes for the kettle .. The room: the design is nice though in any western country the bathroom will be considered illegal but fine.. no privacy if you are traveling with a companion. Pillows… guys ( owners / managers ) have you slept in your rooms ? Because if you did, you would know that nobody would sleep comfortably on those pillows. The noise: probably the noisiest room I ever set foot in. It is impossible to sleep and it is not only of its location but also because of the poor quality windows. I went to bed at 12 am and managed to fall asleep at 5 am out of exhaustion, only to wake up 2 hrs later. The sounds of motorcycles, honking, car big and small, people laughing, screaming or simply talking, will accompany you for the entire night. Again, when asked for assistance, they simply said “ hotel is full” no apologies or Whatsoever. The staff itself will stand outside the building careless that there are sleeping guests upstairs. Again, clearly you have never slept in your rooms because if you did, you would pay your guests to sleep there and not the other way round. Skip the hospitality business and leave it to the real professionals who truly know how to host.
Hamra Urban Gardens
4.3/544 Reviews
We went there relying on the comments, we had high expectations, but I think the rooms smelled damp, there were no slippers, there was no hair dryer, the pool was closed, the breakfast was good, the location was in the Hamra area. If I go to Beirut again, I would choose a hotel closer to the beach, the wifi was good, the cafe section was lively, it was nice, it was a normal hotel in terms of price performance.

B Residence

Newly decorated hotel with spacious rooms and great staff. 24 hour entrance with daily room cleaning - they also offer super cheap laundry service (I haven’t used it however). My apartment had a balcony with a street view and was great to watch local people getting on with their lives and interacting with each other. The queen bed was really comfy and the lil fridge did it’s job well. The bathroom is shower only and there’s also AC in the room. The location has a real Middle East feel to it so no fancy buildings or parks etc. but I think this makes it more special. There is a lil supermarket just outside and has basic stuff which is open till late. The main high street is 2 mins walk where you can have quick Lebanese bites that are super cheap and delicious - there’s also a bigger supermarket with great fruit/veg. The only letdown was the WiFi - it was in range but was a bit slow, OK for browsing though. Overall very pleased and would visit again.
Mozart Hotel

I stayed here for one night before the start of a group tour of Lebanon. The hotel was located close to Hamra street which was convenient for shops and restaurants, but it was an hour's walk to the centre (Beirut Souks & Martyrs' Square). It was around 15 minutes in a taxi from the airport, and this was around 8 pm on a Friday night. The reception staff were friendly when I arrived. My room was nice and large, it had a king-sized bed, a sofa and a table and chairs. It was a little basic in decor but that didn't really matter. The bathroom had a shower but not a bath, it could have been slightly cleaner but really wasn't that bad at all. The breakfast was a bit of a let down unfortunately, very little selection. I was brought out a plate of things (tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, etc.) but I didn't like half the stuff that was on there so I felt it was a little wasteful. I think this had a lot to do with the hotel being quite empty due to being in low season. Overall if you're looking for somewhere perfectly adequate for a night at a reasonable price then I would recommend this hotel.
Caramel Boutique Hotel
4.1/57 Reviews
The Caramel is well-situated, in a quiet street just of the bustling Hamrq street, one of the most vibrant areas in Beirut. It is an older hotel, and would certainly benefit from a general renovation. But the hotel has an informal, quirky character, which may justify the ”Boutique” description in its title. My bed was comfortable and the room had adequate furnishings and bathroom facilities. I did not use the restaurant. Front desk staff were helpful. This is an inexpensive option in a good neighborhood. I would stay again.
