My stay at Lakhey Hotel exceeded every expectation! From the moment I arrived, the staff (special shoutout to deeya and boss ming treated me like family. Their warmth and fluency in English, and Mandarin, made communication effortless—especially helpful for booking tours! **Why I loved it:** ✅ **Prime Quiet Location**: Just a 10-min walk to Thamel’s buzz, yet nestled on a peaceful street. Perfect for resting after exploring temples and markets! ✅ **Impeccable Rooms**: Spacious, modern, and *spotlessly clean* (loved the mountain views!). The comfy bed and strong shower were heaven after long days. ✅ **Authentic Chinese Restaurant**: The Sichuan dishes here are a MUST-try—some of the best I’ve had outside China! ✅ **Travel Made Easy**: Xiaoming arranged my Everest Base Camp tour seamlessly. His agency offers great value and door-to-door service. ✅ **Safety First**: 24/7 security and well-lit streets—ideal for solo travelers like me. highly recommend #namaste

Everything was great apart from a little bit of construction noise in the early days. Great location in Tamel, on a quiet street away from the noise of the city. The staff were as friendly and friendly as possible and responded to any request. Free airport transfer is a convenient addition to stay at this hotel. Breakfasts are not very diverse, but satisfying, however, I did not have enough vegetables. Hotel manager Sachin arranged for us the mountain flight at a cost lower than the travel agencies and even the airline itself offered, with transfers from the hotel and back after flight. Great place for this cost. Thanks!

Pros Great location for exploring Themal and provided you are not too high up, you shouldn't hear any road noise as it's set back. I was on the 4th floor and could hear the incessant beeping motorbikes but had moved from the first floor where i heard none (but was directly above the kitchen so could hear banging and chairs scraping from around 6am). 2nd floor is probably a good choice Staff were all excellent Room cleaned daily with 2 large bottles of water provided each day Breakfast was ok - decent variety of fruit, local and western with custom eggs. Coffee was instant though. Air con has heat facility No deposit required on check-in Toiletries provided Cons Some noise depending on your room location - dont stay in 107 or room directly above the kitchen/restaurant No safe for passport, cash etc in room Breakfast area isn't particularly clean i.e. dirty table cloths/mats Poor standard of fixtures/fittings e.g. gaps in windows and doors, curtains dont quite close right, dirty shower curtain, the rooms have seen better days but for the price its still good value. No coffee or milk in room (or 3-in one) No phone charging point near the bed Bathroom mat was old and dirty, no floor towel Tips: take extra passport photo if you intend to get a sim card at the airport, unlimited data one with nepal telecom cost me $10 - signal was mostly ok. Get your currency before you arrive or take enough to convert there, the atm machines are expensive Taxi from airport to Themal should be around 350 rupees working on 50 rupees per km plys 30 rupees start charge. You will be hounded relentlessly by people from the second you leave the plane for tour services etc. It may seem impolite but dont make eye contact, say no thank you and keep walking, otherwise you will spend your entire trip speaking to them. Right now its cold at night, pack accordingly. Be prepared to pay for everything, every temple, every place of historical interest - foreigners are charged around 1000-2000 rupees each time. E.g. all the Durbar squares, main stupas and temples. Don't assume that because Nepal is a developing country it is cheap. It isn't. In fact i found it comparable to some developed countries and not cheaper than say Thailand. A meal would cost me around 1000 rupees. In a smaller more local place you may pay 500. Don't take your new trainers, it's a very dirty, dusty city but exactly what you would expect if you've ever seen it on TV - it's all part of the experience. For exploring all of the main parts of Kathmandu, id say 5 days is a good amount of time. I recommend the everest helicopter tour but on that note i will say that tours are very expensive here, more expensive than even Hong Kong, Thailand, etc!! I ended up walking to the main temples, Chandragiri, Bakhtapur for the more local experience.

Ramada keeps it's name and value, it can be seen in this hotel. The staff are friendly and caring. Though it was only a short stay but the room was good enough. The beds are comfortable and has basic amenities. The balcony has good space. It's quite and peaceful from outside. A good sleep and a good stay. Happy with the service.

Extremely wonderful hotel 15 minutes walk from the airport. Everything was sparkling clean, comfortable, and I always felt well taken care of. The gym is well stocked and has a great view of the city. Breakfast was another highlight and included many delicious Nepalese, Indian, and Western foods. The front desk staff were extremely helpful and kind, helping me call taxis for a cheaper fare than the tourist rip off price, and they also helped me store my luggage overnight while I went on a yoga retreat. Can’t recommend this hotel enough!!

The Thamel district is within a 15-minute walk, so I think the access is not bad. Everything was clean. The breakfast was delicious and I ate a lot. Some websites say there is a coin laundry, but be aware that they only offer laundry service. If I visit Kathmandu again, this is a hotel I would like to stay at again.

I have enjoyed my 2 days-stay in Hotel Jampa. The room was neat, the bathroom was clean and they have good breakfast. It’s location in thamel is good but a little bit hidden. The staff were very kind and willing to help me during my stay. Overall, I recommend staying there and would like to stay there again in my next visit to Kathmandu.

GGuest UserI recently stayed at Hotel Anuttara in Nepal and had a great experience. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant stay. My room was clean and well-equipped, providing all the essentials for a comfortable visit. The hotel’s restaurant offered a diverse menu with tasty local dishes. Its convenient location made it easy to access shopping and dining options nearby. Although not a retreat, the lively atmosphere added to the experience, making it ideal for travelers wanting to immerse themselves in the local culture. I highly recommend Hotel Anuttara for anyone visiting the area!

GGuest UserNice Old Hotel, Great Staff with few needs to improve. Swimming pool is totally disappointment. Better to shut down, than keep running and not swimmable, waist of energy. The water is dirty, no star at all. The lobby, the room and Ghurka bar are still great. 2 power shutdowns in 1 day, I believe they are struggling with power shortages due to dark lounges. Breakfast was so so, coffee or tea should be not a challenge to serve first, sometimes took half of meal before they come. Many Tables are not stable and aligned, egg can easily roll over to other side. Atleast 3 tables on my experience. Room is comfortable, nice bed and always fresh linen. Only noisy from AC , maintenance team came twice on my room to fix, though transfer was offered on my last 2 days. Managers should not standing in buffet line, either they should help the line staffs or directing the team, talking business in public is not of our guests concern. Front desk Trainee, has good presence, I thought first he is manager. A lot can be improved and polished, the hotel has a great potential, nice design, great facilities and great staffs. I wish that management should look all themselves and review those small details.

GGuest UserI stayed in a standard room, not a deluxe room, which cost 325 RMB per night. I walked past the garden of this hotel and was attracted by the beautiful garden, so I booked a room from Ctrip. I didn't expect that the room was very different from the garden. First of all, the area of the standard room was only about 10 square meters, and the quality of the bedding was similar to that of domestic guesthouses, and certainly not as good as the bedding of Home Inn or Hanting.

GGuest UserIt is indeed more quaint and beautiful. I stayed in the heritage suite. There is a sense of atmosphere. The Chinese Embassy is next door. The breakfast is average compared to other three-star hotels. Slippers are not provided. The plug is local. You have to actively ask the front desk to borrow a charging head, otherwise they can't think of it.

GGuest UserThe room and area was good, but I experienced a scam provided by the receptionist. I have consulted the tour advice with the reception, the guy provided me an excellent two-day rafting package that called by a tourist agent. In the tour, that was a disaster, the tour only half-day with 1/3 distance of his presented tour. The cost he charged me is almost 5 times of the normal price in internet. I would prefer that should be a very special tour and different from I found in internet. That was totally scam and waste my time and money, it was extremely affect my plan and mood. I would report this experience to the concerned parties. It really a shame of Nepalese.
