I recently stayed at Hotel Anuttara in Nepal and had a great experience. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant stay. My room was clean and well-equipped, providing all the essentials for a comfortable visit. The hotel’s restaurant offered a diverse menu with tasty local dishes. Its convenient location made it easy to access shopping and dining options nearby. Although not a retreat, the lively atmosphere added to the experience, making it ideal for travelers wanting to immerse themselves in the local culture. I highly recommend Hotel Anuttara for anyone visiting the area!
Pros
Great location for exploring Themal and provided you are not too high up, you shouldn't hear any road noise as it's set back. I was on the 4th floor and could hear the incessant beeping motorbikes but had moved from the first floor where i heard none (but was directly above the kitchen so could hear banging and chairs scraping from around 6am). 2nd floor is probably a good choice
Staff were all excellent
Room cleaned daily with 2 large bottles of water provided each day
Breakfast was ok - decent variety of fruit, local and western with custom eggs. Coffee was instant though.
Air con has heat facility
No deposit required on check-in
Toiletries provided
Cons
Some noise depending on your room location - dont stay in 107 or room directly above the kitchen/restaurant
No safe for passport, cash etc in room
Breakfast area isn't particularly clean i.e. dirty table cloths/mats
Poor standard of fixtures/fittings e.g. gaps in windows and doors, curtains dont quite close right, dirty shower curtain, the rooms have seen better days but for the price its still good value.
No coffee or milk in room (or 3-in one)
No phone charging point near the bed
Bathroom mat was old and dirty, no floor towel
Tips: take extra passport photo if you intend to get a sim card at the airport, unlimited data one with nepal telecom cost me $10 - signal was mostly ok.
Get your currency before you arrive or take enough to convert there, the atm machines are expensive
Taxi from airport to Themal should be around 350 rupees working on 50 rupees per km plys 30 rupees start charge.
You will be hounded relentlessly by people from the second you leave the plane for tour services etc. It may seem impolite but dont make eye contact, say no thank you and keep walking, otherwise you will spend your entire trip speaking to them.
Right now its cold at night, pack accordingly.
Be prepared to pay for everything, every temple, every place of historical interest - foreigners are charged around 1000-2000 rupees each time. E.g. all the Durbar squares, main stupas and temples.
Don't assume that because Nepal is a developing country it is cheap. It isn't. In fact i found it comparable to some developed countries and not cheaper than say Thailand. A meal would cost me around 1000 rupees. In a smaller more local place you may pay 500.
Don't take your new trainers, it's a very dirty, dusty city but exactly what you would expect if you've ever seen it on TV - it's all part of the experience.
For exploring all of the main parts of Kathmandu, id say 5 days is a good amount of time. I recommend the everest helicopter tour but on that note i will say that tours are very expensive here, more expensive than even Hong Kong, Thailand, etc!! I ended up walking to the main temples, Chandragiri, Bakhtapur for the more local experience.

The hotel is located on Thamel Street in Kathmandu, which should be the most prosperous street. There are all kinds of supporting facilities around it, not to mention the countless restaurants. We moved here from other hotels. The previous hotel had a very serious power outage and the hygiene was also worrying, but this one was not at all. There was basically no power outage for three or four days. Occasionally, the backup power supply was immediately supplied. It can be said that there was no impact at all, and the stay experience was excellent. The hotel was newly opened this year and is equipped with an elevator, which is very convenient for going up and down the stairs. There is a local Nepalese beauty at the front desk who can speak Chinese. It is said that she returned to Nepal from studying in China. Communication is completely stress-free. Everything went very smoothly with her when I checked in. In addition to her, the other handsome men and beautiful women at the front desk can speak English, so I had a very pleasant stay these few days. The boss and shareholders are also Chinese, very friendly and friendly. As long as we raise any problems, they can solve them for us immediately. The hotel is also equipped with washing machines and dryers, and even a gym, which is very very very convenient. The hotel is very very very clean. I am a person with mysophobia. I am so moved to tears to be able to live in such a clean and hygienic hotel in Kathmandu. When we finally left, one of the bosses and shareholders even arranged a car to take us to the airport. We didn't have to worry about it at all. Every staff member we met in this hotel was very nice. It is worth staying at this hotel. I recommend it. Chinese people don't cheat Chinese people.
I wanted to share my heartfelt thanks for the wonderful 15 days I spent at Lakhey Hotel. It truly felt like a home away from home. I apologize for changing rooms multiple times, but I deeply appreciate the upgrades you generously provided.
Your team’s kindness and warmth touched my heart. Every staff member I encountered was incredibly attentive and welcoming, which made my stay so memorable. The care and thoughtfulness of everyone at your hotel made it a truly special experience.
Wishing you good health and continued success in your hotel business. Thank you again for everything!

The location is 2 km away from market but the view from the property is awesome and its worth . The hotel staff is good and restaurant manage was very polite and happy to help u with various option of food. The food is little costly but its worth paying at that location . Breakfast was good . Room quality is 3 star but hotel view and staff service is 5 star . If u want to go to kathmandu try 1 hr before ur departure from in drive app it will cost u 1500-2000nrp . Try to give 200-300 extra if there refuse to come .

I love how safe I feel in this hotel after being canceled in other local one without given me any solution! I booked this hotel immediately and got confirmed instantly . 15mn later I arrive everything is ready to check in. The room was clean and I got a nice view to city as well
Really had an amazing time in Pulchowk Square. It was a great experience. The service was outstanding. I’m sure this hotel is one of the best in the city.
Will definitely comeback again. 💛💛
The hotel is at a good location, close to local shops and restaurants and the bus stop. Room was clean with good views of the hills and valleys. The breakfast was below average and one morning I got foul smelling corn. One night when I returned at around 10 PM the main door was closed and had to call their number and wait few minutes outside for them to open the main door.

GGuest UserNice Old Hotel, Great Staff with few needs to improve.
Swimming pool is totally disappointment. Better to shut down, than keep running and not swimmable, waist of energy. The water is dirty, no star at all.
The lobby, the room and Ghurka bar are still great.
2 power shutdowns in 1 day, I believe they are struggling with power shortages due to dark lounges.
Breakfast was so so, coffee or tea should be not a challenge to serve first, sometimes took half of meal before they come. Many Tables are not stable and aligned, egg can easily roll over to other side. Atleast 3 tables on my experience.
Room is comfortable, nice bed and always fresh linen. Only noisy from AC , maintenance team came twice on my room to fix, though transfer was offered on my last 2 days.
Managers should not standing in buffet line, either they should help the line staffs or directing the team, talking business in public is not of our guests concern.
Front desk Trainee, has good presence, I thought first he is manager.
A lot can be improved and polished, the hotel has a great potential, nice design, great facilities and great staffs. I wish that management should look all themselves and review those small details.
FFunky APRamada keeps it's name and value, it can be seen in this hotel. The staff are friendly and caring. Though it was only a short stay but the room was good enough. The beds are comfortable and has basic amenities. The balcony has good space. It's quite and peaceful from outside. A good sleep and a good stay. Happy with the service.
GGuest UserKGH is in the center of the business district, there are many clubs nearby, it will be very noisy when sleeping at night, the attitude of the waiters is also very strange, they are very enthusiastic when you go there for the first time, but they will ignore you when you go there for the second time, but they are very enthusiastic to Europeans or people from other countries. The hotel facilities are also very old, the water quality is yellowish, not very good, I guess I will not choose to stay there again
JJohn Vincent (JV)New Hotel with Great Roof Top View, needs to improve.
Room is nice, smells new, however bed sheet is completely new , itchy , it’s like just bought and not washed , direct to the bed or been there dusty for long time. Towel is dirty white, not convenient.
Water is totally disappointed, Color yellow, un-filtered and smells. Need proper filtration.
Massage, all is new, bed is sounding haha , no music , no aroma for 8k local currency, 1 hour, masseuse was good.
Food some are great, some are tough.
View is the best for this hotel, but they open only afternoon to 10.. if you are sunrise person , this hotel is not for you. Sun set was great.
Staffs are friendly, however next visit should be more thoughtful on guiding guests, where is elevator, what are facilities and hotel can offer.
Breakfast was fair, price is recommendable.
AAli Raza Tabassi.During my 10 days of stay I truly loved the hotel, the staff from reception to house keeping were amazing and above all Kishor from reception and Saroj, how can only forget hom, what great person. I'm very thankful to him for the support he gave me in all my needs, from shopping, site seeing and much much more, I sincerely wish to thank Saroj , your truly a gentleman and I surely will never forgot you.
Thank you Kishor, Kumar Mrs. Pornima, and above all Saroj.
I recommend this good hotel , it's worthy of stay,
GGuest UserThe room and area was good, but I experienced a scam provided by the receptionist.
I have consulted the tour advice with the reception, the guy provided me an excellent two-day rafting package that called by a tourist agent.
In the tour, that was a disaster, the tour only half-day with 1/3 distance of his presented tour.
The cost he charged me is almost 5 times of the normal price in internet. I would prefer that should be a very special tour and different from I found in internet.
That was totally scam and waste my time and money, it was extremely affect my plan and mood. I would report this experience to the concerned parties. It really a shame of Nepalese.
