"The Shanghai Hotel, formerly known as Broadway Mansions and built in 1934, is an iconic Art Deco landmark and a protected heritage building on the Bund. Situated at the confluence of the Suzhou Creek and Huangpu River, and right next to the Waibaidu Bridge, it offers a superb vantage point to view both the Bund and Lujiazui simultaneously. The hotel's architecture, with its stepped-back design, vintage elevators, and collection of historical artifacts, creates a truly retro ambiance, making it a historical site worth visiting in itself and a significant part of Shanghai's urban history. I chose this hotel primarily to give my child a tangible experience of old Shanghai. Upon check-in, the front desk service manager kindly upgraded us to a suite with a view of the Shanghai Bund. The staff's service attitude was excellent. Although the hotel is a bit old, being there allows you to genuinely feel its nearly century-old historical weight. It maintains a state guest-level standard, blending vintage decor with modern renovations, preserving the essence of the old architecture. Gazing out the window, you're treated to a rich tapestry of modern and historical scenes interwoven."
