InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland is a fantastic choice for a peaceful and relaxing getaway. The fresh air and nearby parks create a perfect atmosphere for unwinding, and the Wonder City Amusement Park, just a 5-minute walk away, adds an extra touch of fun to the experience. The hotel offers a delicious buffet, a great pool, and a well-equipped gym. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to visit the spa, which means we’ll have to come back again!
A huge thank you to Sofiia, Seven, Vincent, and Alisa for their outstanding service—they answered all of our questions and made our stay as comfortable as possible, prepared a room with an amazing view for us. Special thanks to Bambi and Cora for preparing delicious complimentary desserts for us. Also, a big shoutout to Amiya, who helped organize room service late at night—super convenient! I also really enjoyed The Cliff Show, and I appreciate Sofiia reminding us about it by sending a helpful notice.
The staff is available 24/7 and speaks English, Russian, and Korean, which made communication effortless. I’ll definitely be coming back!

The location is quiet in a busy area. The four-and-a-half-story building has well preserved the historical charm of the Shikumen pavilion. The materials used in the renovation of the facilities can be seen to be carefully and attentively, and the linens and bedding are emphasized. I slept until breakfast on the first day and couldn't make it to the restaurant for breakfast 😂 The check-in guidance and room cleaning were timely and in place. Especially the little sister Raven at the front desk was considerate and patient, and maintained a comfortable distance. Everything was prepared in advance. The small gift for leaving the hotel was also very considerate. It is worth coming back to ”visit relatives” in the summer

The stay was impressive. Not only was the room spacious, the site was also peaceful will very few other guests at the time we went.
The environment was so nice that we forgot we were in Shanghai. Experiences of having hotpot next to the river, cycling around the large park, visiting the antique villa and learning about the history, were exceptional.
We were amazed by Johnny Qin and his team's warm hospitality and heart-touching service, especially the hand-drawn welcome card which bear the logo of our company. Attentions were paid to every detail during our stay.
Penny was our yoga tutor and she was so friendly in teaching us and also taking pictures for us. Highly recommended.
As for the afternoon tea on the boat, we had a great chat with Kevin Li 李城城, rounding up a sweet and memorable experience for us at Amanyangyun.
Will definitely come back again.

Joann from housekeeping was also great, as she made sure we had everything we need in our room. Love the sweet soup they served at 5 pm everyday 😀Definitely will come back, because of this experience will visit the other 3 Ahn Luh Resorts in China

AAnonymous UserCertainly! Here's the combined review in English:
Our two-night stay at J Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. The service was impeccable, reflecting a level of care and professionalism that truly stood out. Special thanks to Butler George, whose dedication and responsiveness were exemplary. He consistently went above and beyond, ensuring our every need was met promptly, even outside his regular hours. Miss Sia provided wonderful care and joy to our children, making them feel at home. Mr. Liu Hai's insightful commentary on the hotel's art collection enhanced our stay, deepening our cultural experience.
On the third day of our journey, we had initially planned to move to another luxury hotel on the Bund. However, we were dissuaded by the service there. Eventually, at half past eleven that same night, we happily returned to J Hotel to continue our stay. We are delighted that domestic hotels can achieve such high standards of service.
We are grateful to Butler George, Miss Sia, Mr. Liu Hai, and the entire staff for making our time here truly memorable.

YYan ReevesThis Kimpton hotel is really-really cool: opened in September’23, it has fresh amenities, sleek contemporary design, beautiful scenery from the upper decks and remarkable dine & drink options. The staff is friendly and helpful, with fair level of English, which is not that common even in Shanghai.
Rooms have spacious bathrooms, high-tech control system and comfy bed with orthopedic (!) pillows. The surrounding areas are fresh from the reconstruction, conveying nice Singapore-style staycation feel - great choice even for those living in Shanghai.
The only major area of concern was the pool.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a really beautiful rooftop pool at a scenic spot of Huangpu river, but it’s regulated by the most ridiculous rules you can possibly think of.
First, there is no service by the pool, so forget about the joy of having a coffee, a cold beer or a juice at your sunbed. There’s a forced shower at the entrance which cannot be turned off - protecting your phone an belongings would require agility. And the most stupid of all - you must wear a swimming cap even if you don’t dive. There is no information of it ahead of check-in, so you can either rent a cap at the place, or enjoy the pool in observer’s mode if they’d ran out of those (happened to us).
Having stayed at over 30 hotels across all China, it was the first time I met regulations like that.
It’s not a sports pool, where caps and absence of service could be assumed. It’s a really nice rooftop leisure pool, beautifully furnished and with pleasant soundtrack. Well, could have been. Dear Administration, please benchmark the other hotels in town. A properly serviced rooftop pool is not just a source of joy for your guests, it’s also a revenue stream for the business.
AAnonymous UserWe booked 3 rooms for 4 nights including breakfast and had a great time staying in Edition. The staffs are very welcoming and friendly, always with smile and attentive.
Breakfast is Ala carte with half buffet style with variety of choices. We truly satisfied with the food. But it was quite boring to have it 4 days in a row.
Room cleaning service is well done and the toiletries are replenished everyday. We also entitled for early bird rewards with a free fruits plate, shopping bag, a small pack of free shampoo and bath products. Our first round of snacks bar are complimentary except for beer and alcohol.
The gym room is not really spacious but fully equipped. The only downside is the swimming pool is quite small, and it would be better if sauna is provided.
Not to mention the strategic location that the metro station is just 2mins walk from the hotel. But the car is not allowed to enter the main road, nevertheless the staffs would help to carry all luggages and the taxi ride can stop at the back door or back street with just few steps away.
Overall, we enjoyed ourself and my family are happy with this hotel.

MManuelvvThe hotel is in one of the best locations. We were early and were told that we couldn’t check in the room by 2 o’ clock - no problem. When we got back at 4 our luggage was already put into our room. Unfortunately the room was only set up for two, while we booked and were using it by 3 persons. The room is great but needs some attention, old lcd tv that showed wear and tear and don’t understand some of the design choices, such as not extending the red velvet all the way at least to the end of the bed. A tv was in the mirror buoying, but no remote and was not working anymore.
This hotel had a good pool, small but nice and there was a sauna, but it was closed for maintenance, but there was a steam room. Unfortunately, that could use some maintenance as well. Very little steam was produced, a lot a mosaic tiles were missing and there was some backdrop piece missing. Also in the pool area there were two experience showers, but both were not operational and in need of an urgent update. The breakfast was ok, but the selection was limited computing other 5 star hotels. Overall, I believe there are better options in Shanghai. The hotel feels outdated and in need of an urgent update.

GGuest UserOur stay at the Shanghai Waldorf Hotel was a mixed experience. The hotel itself is luxuriously designed, embodying the spirit of Shanghai as a metropolitan economic center with a rich and glorious history. Our room had an entire view of the Bund and the Oriental Pearl Tower skyline, and the million-dollar view alone justified the relatively higher room price.
The breakfast buffet was decent, although the service was affected by understaffing. The hardworking service ladies often had to run to tend to all the guests. To improve the experience, making coffee, paper napkins, and egg dishes self-serve would be a practical solution. It seems a bit underwhelming for a luxurious hotel to overlook such details.
Service overall was very good and professional, especially from the breakfast service ladies and the staff at the entrance doors. However, there was an unfortunate incident with one staff member who helped us wheel our luggage to our room and asked for our WeChat contact to provide more information about Shanghai. While he did offer a helpful list of local restaurants and attractions, he later harassed us for days, constantly messaging and requesting that we write him a good review. He even wrote a review for himself and asked us to post it on Trip.com and Google. We have never experienced such behavior, and it's surprising that a hotel run by Hilton would allow such harassment of their guests.
In conclusion, while the Shanghai Waldorf Hotel offers a luxurious environment and stunning views, some aspects of the service need improvement. The hotel should address staff behavior to ensure guests have a comfortable and harassment-free stay.

GGuest UserThe hotel is getting old, like my room floor was cracked. Whenever I walked into the dressing room, the noise was annoying.

The location is excellent, as it is very close to the station and directly connected to a shopping mall. A short walk from the hotel offers breathtaking views of The Bund. The hotel facilities and restaurants were all highly satisfying, and the breakfast options were absolutely delicious.
The service and staff were exceptional, providing a level of hospitality that exceeded my expectations. I would definitely choose to stay at this hotel again on my next visit to Shanghai.
