"We had an amazing stay at this hotel, thanks especially to Jackie at the front desk. Although we arrived early, she kindly checked us in and let us know our room would be ready in about 1.5 hours. She offered to store our luggage free of charge so we could explore comfortably, and when we returned, she even surprised us with a gift bag full of drinks—such thoughtful service! The location is unbeatable: right across from Nanjing West Pedestrian Street, directly connected to New World shopping centre, and just a short walk to People’s Square and the metro. The Bund is also within walking distance—about 30 minutes if you’re up for a stroll. There are so many food options around. Our room was clean, spacious, and located on a high floor just as we requested. Facilities were excellent, and every staff member we interacted with was warm and helpful. We’d absolutely stay here again on our next visit to Shanghai!"

"Overall, my stay was excellent and exceeded expectations. The only drawback was the initial arrival experience — there was no clear signage for check-in, and staff at the concierge were chatting amongst themselves. We had to approach them before being told check-in was on Level 2. Thankfully, the front desk team more than made up for it. Special thanks to Locke and Skai (hope I got the names right!) — they were warm, professional, and even upgraded us to a suite. I also asked for the Conrad bear (I collect them!) and they kindly sent it to my room, which I truly appreciated. Room service was prompt and efficient. However, the concierge service could be better organized. We only had two parcels and used luggage storage, but the experience felt less polished compared to other Shanghai hotels, which usually impress with their efficiency. Still, I had a great stay and would definitely choose this hotel again when I return to Shanghai."

Yes i will also want to make an request to hotel people to allow children breakfast up to 14year old. as they provide 2 breakfast per room and need to buy breakfast for children."

จารุวรรณDisappointing Experience at The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai I stayed at The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai for two nights, and unfortunately, my experience was far from the luxury service I expected. 1. Discrimination at Flair Rooftop Restaurant On my first night, I visited Flair, the hotel's rooftop restaurant. Before going, I was told at the lobby that the restaurant operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with no reservations. However, when I arrived at around 5:50 PM, the restaurant was only 20% occupied, yet the host told me it was ”fully booked.” Then, the host questioned my intent, asking whether I was there for drinks or dinner. When I said ”dinner,” he suddenly mentioned a 1,600-yuan minimum spending requirement. I agreed without hesitation and ended up spending over 2,200 yuan. But what truly bothered me was the initial rejection and the selective enforcement of the minimum charge, implying that I was being judged based on my appearance or nationality. If the restaurant was truly full, why was I offered a table once I confirmed I would spend a significant amount? 2. Misleading Room Upgrade Offer & Hidden Promotions When I checked in, I had already booked a suite with a city view for around 4,000 yuan. However, the receptionist tried to upsell me a Pearl Tower view for an additional 3,300 yuan, which is an unreasonable price just for a different view. What’s worse is that she failed to inform me about an existing hotel promotion: (cant remember the amount exactly) If I pre-purchased 1,000 yuan, I could use 1,400 yuan at Flair rooftop restaurant. I only found out about this the next day and when I asked whether I could retroactively apply this promotion to my bill (which was charged to my room), I was told it was not possible because I had to buy the package in advance. Had I known about this offer beforehand, I would have gladly used it. Instead, the staff prioritized upselling me a more expensive view rather than informing me of real benefits available to hotel guests. 3. Concierge Service & Taxi Nightmare The service at the concierge was another major disappointment. I had a reservation at a Chinese restaurant across the river and asked the concierge to arrange a taxi for me. Knowing that taxis in Shanghai can be unreliable and tricky (as I had experienced the night before with an airport taxi taking me to three wrong hotels and turning off the meter), I was relieved when the concierge used Didi (a ride-hailing app) to book a ride. However, when the car arrived, the concierge instructed a bellboy to walk me to the car, but he never confirmed whether it was actually mine. Just as the door was closing, a woman with luggage rushed in, claiming it was her ride to the airport. It turned out the car was not for me but for an entirely different passenger! At this point, I was already late for my dinner reservation. When I walked back to the concierge to ask what happened, he seemed irritated and dismissively said, ”Don’t worry” before reluctantly walking me to the correct car. This lack of professionalism and carelessness was incredibly frustrating. If you’re arranging a ride for a guest, ensure they get into the correct car. Final Thoughts This all happened in just one night—I can't imagine what else could go wrong during my stay. I sincerely hope no other guests have to go through such an experience. The Ritz-Carlton brand is known for its luxury and top-tier hospitality, but what I encountered was discriminatory treatment, misleading sales tactics, and poor service coordination. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves their service, ensuring all guests receive fair and professional treatment, regardless of their appearance or nationality. Ps: nice swimming pool by the way!!

LLYNETTELIMEntire hotel is modern and prettily designed. Location is accessible to many malls around the corner and there's a beautiful St Ignatius Cathedral next to it. Many amenities provided. Front desk also gave a set of children amenities - toothbrush set and child-size bedroom slippers. Didn't realize till too late but tea with snacks were free for guests at a certain timing and there was supper provided also from 9.30pm till late - chef preparing noodles that you prefer and select on your own from a variety of ingredients and choices. Very homely gesture yet warming for guests. Reason I found this was it was pretty close to the Shanghai South Railway station. The concierge and front desk manager helped us locate a taxi in the rain because Didi couldn't locate one. Everything was smooth and comfortable. Would highly recommend and will stay again when w get a chance.

MMaria Gri+ Pros: Very convenient location of the hotel, really good location. The room was clean and had a pleasant smell. After the eviction, you could leave your suitcase at the reception for free. - The main disadvantage: the hotel had central heating and the room temperature could not be set lower, and in a small room without a window it was very stuffy and hot. It was not possible to turn on the cooling air conditioner in the hotel. A minor disadvantage: we had an official marrige sign day (wedding day) and we mentioned it in advance, expecting some minimal compliment from the hotel, but unfortunately we were ignored. I also want to point out that when we visited the restaurant at the hotel, a nice receptionist found out that it was our wedding day and brought us a small cake. Unfortunately, I have already forgotten the name, but I know that she is from the Philippines, and she was very pleasant and we liked her. Thanks also to the doorman at the hotel, who helped us translate from English to Chinese at the reception upon check-in, as no one else spoke English

From the moment we arrived, Lynn went out of her way to assist us with our room and check-in, communicating clearly and confidently in English, which made everything smooth and stress-free. The hotel is ideally located, close to restaurants, shops, and some of Shanghai’s most exciting attractions, making it a perfect base for exploring the city. Our room was spacious, beautifully designed, and incredibly comfortable, a true retreat after a day of sightseeing. The attention to detail, warm hospitality, and high standard of service truly stood out. Thank you, Lynn, for your kindness and professionalism. You made our stay at the Andaz unforgettable. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Shanghai!

GGuest UserThe hotel’s location and view were excellent—particularly if you choose one of the Bund or river view rooms. However, there was a construction site directly in front of the hotel, and the noise was quite disruptive; I could clearly hear it from the 23rd floor, and it kept me awake from early morning. The Vue rooftop bar is lovely—arguably one of the nicest in Shanghai along the rooftop at Bund 18. The staff had a somewhat aloof demeanour, and only a few spoke English, so communication often required the use of a translation app. The room quality was fairly standard—nothing luxurious—but the price was reasonable compared to other luxury hotels along the Bund. That said, the service level was noticeably below that of places like the Fairmont or Waldorf Astoria, both of which are more centrally located in the heart of the Bund, near Nanjing Road, the famous 2km shopping street. Of course, the Bund-view rooms at those hotels come at a much steeper price. The gym was quite basic—functional but nothing special—and the indoor pool was similarly standard, so don’t expect luxury in those areas. I used Didi to get around, and the hotel’s location was very convenient in that regard. If I find a good deal with one of the true luxury brands, I’d probably opt for that instead. However, I wouldn’t rule out returning to the Hyatt on the Bund—it’s a decent option if it fits your budget. I didn’t try the breakfast, as there are plenty of great cafés and coffee shops in Shanghai.

JJevon ChristopherAmazing stay! As a frequent traveler to Shanghai, the Kunlun was amazing value for money, situated in a great area and did not seem as old as other luxury hotels downtown. Can’t wait to stay here again!

CClaireHotel was modern and clean. (Looks new and quite Western!) Amenities are well equipped, they even provided a charging cable. Perfect layout for me travelling with elderly parents. Location is conmvenient, walking distance to North Bund and The Bund 外滩。 Staff were helpful and friendly with recommending food places nearby. It's located on a main street but there are actually a number of small local eateries in the small streets nearby. Will stay again next time I come to Shanghai!!!
