After opening the window in the afternoon, we noticed a lot of insects on the rooftop outside. We informed the hotel, and they assured us it would be resolved by the time we returned from dinner. I'm not sure if winters here aren't cold, but the duvet was extremely thin – essentially just a light blanket sandwiched between two sheets. While it was clean, it felt quite unfamiliar. The hotel also doesn't provide any disposable amenities, so guests need to bring their own. The next morning, there was a three-minute power outage around 8 AM. Later, at 9:30 AM, when we tried to go downstairs, we discovered the elevators weren't working – another power cut. We waited for fifteen minutes, but the power was still out. We asked the cleaning staff nearby, but they couldn't provide any information. We had no choice but to carry our luggage down over twenty flights of stairs. Fortunately, the ground floor exit was accessible; otherwise, once you exit a floor via the fire escape, you can't get back in! I wouldn't recommend the hotel's breakfast. There weren't many options, and due to the power outage, several items weren't available. It was just enough to quickly fill our stomachs. The coffee wasn't freshly ground either; it was from a dispenser. For two adults and one child, it cost over ninety Australian dollars, which was definitely not worth it. The power didn't return until after 10:30 AM, right when we were checking out. Firefighters at the entrance were giving stickers to children and told us to leave quickly. We promptly gathered our belongings and departed. There's a train station right below the hotel, and it's reasonably close to the sea. The immediate area isn't very lively, but you can reach more bustling areas with plenty of dining options within two or three train stops.

I recently stayed at the Dorsett Hotel and was thoroughly impressed by the cleanliness throughout the property. From the lobby to the rooms, everything was spotless and well-maintained. The housekeeping staff did an exceptional job my room was cleaned daily with attention to detail, fresh towels were always available, and the bedding felt crisp and fresh. Even common areas like the elevators, hallways, and dining spaces were immaculate. It’s clear the hotel takes hygiene and presentation seriously, which made my stay feel comfortable and worry-free. If cleanliness is a top priority for you, the Dorsett Hotel absolutely delivers. Highly recommended!

Parking was difficult at Noosa Beach, so I left my car in the hotel parking lot and took an Uber! The location is good because it's not far! However, it is a bit disappointing that I had to pay a rather high price to stay at the hotel during the peak season.

We stayed on a high floor, and the views from the hotel were absolutely stunning! The kitchen was a fantastic amenity, allowing us to cook our own meals, which we really appreciated. The in-unit washer and dryer were incredibly convenient, allowing us to do laundry whenever needed. One minor issue was that the duvet cover and the duvet itself often separated, creating a tangled mess. Unfortunately, a small blanket my son brought with him went missing. We suspect it was accidentally bundled up and taken away by housekeeping when they tidied the bed one day. It wasn't found by check-out. I've already reported this to the front desk and also emailed customer service. I sincerely hope to hear an update soon, as it's a pink blanket with white bunny patterns.

The hotel itself was very clean and well-maintained. It’s located on a lively street with plenty of shops, restaurants, and everything you need within walking distance. 24-hour parking was available, so I could leave my car even after check-out and pick it up later, which was very convenient. There were massage shops and delicious food options nearby, and the train station was just a short walk away. Overall, I had a very satisfying stay.

This is a self-driving hotel that is worthy of praise. The rooms are clean and tidy, with 4 small baths, a swimming pool, free parking, and free coffee at the front desk: tea bags and hot water, more than 1 km from the supermarket. Glaston is a small city, many restaurants are closed on rest days and public holidays, and it is not convenient to eat. There are Western restaurants in the hotel to properly solve the problem of eating. For self-driving tourists, the self-service laundry room is very intimate. Drinking free coffee, spent 3 Australian laundry + 3 Australian drying, and all the dirty clothes all the way down in one hour. Each bed in the twin room is large enough.

Surprised that reception is closed at 12noon! However self key collection is quite easy. Room is very spacious but floor is very dusty. Toilet n kitchen are clean. Kitchen is well equipped! We need to clear our rubbish bin when check out in order not to incur additional fee. This I'm v puzzled.

Brisbane YHA was a great base for my weekend trip to the city. As a female solo traveller looking for a cheap bed, it served its purpose nicely. Whilst the location is a short walk from the CBD, and close to the Southbank, the surrounding area felt quite run-down, and was basically just a stretch of backroads lined with backpacker hostels, hence didn’t feel super safe at nighttime. The room was clean and reasonably spacious, with privacy curtains and a good range of charging outlets by the bedside. It had a modern feel, and the bathrooms were well-maintained, though a little further from the room than I would’ve liked. I would’ve liked a more social atmosphere, but everyone in my dorm seemed to be doing their own thing/keen to keep to themselves. There was parking on-site, however it is an extra $20 per night, but felt more secure than leaving my car on the roadside. Overall, a good stay, thanks :)

Facilities: New Cleanliness: Spotless Environment: Beautiful Service: Attentive The location is excellent, and local tour groups even offer convenient pick-up and drop-off services from the hotel. The hotel's dining options are superb. It's particularly well-suited for family trips, as children will have a fantastic time playing right within the hotel.

AAnonymous UserThe room rate is cheap. I booked a cheaper hotel because I had to get up early to catch the flight. The only drawback was that I was given a disabled room on the lower floor. I had to get up early the next day so I didn't ask for a room change. The floor was high and I could smell the fumes from the restaurant downstairs. I recommend booking a room on a higher floor.

GGuest UserHave stayed here a few times now and always had a nice stay. Clean and comfortable. Nice addition to have the pool too although there isn’t much seating around the pool. Staff are friendly and location is perfect. The only thing I have to moan about is the deposit - even when I asked it does not get refunded, I have had to go through my bank every time to get the deposit back, maybe I’ve just been unlucky but it’s never been refunded to me from the hotel, I’ve always had to raise a query with my bank to get it back.

PPHILLIP JAMESThe Mantra Hotel has outstanding location. It is directly in front of the Woolworths supermarket - the best option in central Cairns. It's also virtually opposite (the esplanade side)the lagoon public beachfront swimming pool. Finally it's just a 5 minute walk from Cairns Cruise Terminal, with outstanding day trips to Green Island, Fitzroy Island and the Reef. I booked a sea view room. When you enter the room, you don't see the ocean, but a building across the road. However, the view from the balcony was amazing. The balcony overlooks the main features of lagoon on the sea front. During the day it is great view - the lagoon pools and sea in the background. At night you cannot see the sea (as to be expected) but you have the amazing lagoon lights, which makes it very desirable and even romantic. Our room was at the end of block, which overlooks a shopping mall (no car noise) - looking right from the balcony is the lagoon view and looking left is a mountain view. However, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm the sun comes directly into the balcony area, which means it unusable until sun sets. Of course if you don't mind baking in the sun on the balcony, this is not really a concern. The room itself is pretty basic. The mini fridge of OK and TV has domestic channels only - no cable TV for BBC/CNN. The bathroom is of a good size. There is combined shower & bath. However, when using the shower, it can slightly flood this bathroom. A shower curtain may be desirable because the glass panel is not sufficient enough. At $225 per night this hotel was not cheap and you can better deals by coming in the off-season OR going bit further down the esplanade, and choosing another hotel. The Mantra does have its own pool and it is wonderfully heated, with normal deck chairs you would expect at 4 star hotel. However, the pool gets very little natural sunlight, because it of its location between 2 buildings. Overall, the hotel has amazing location, and it is still recommended, despite the shortcomings mentioned. My final note: When we checked in, I was impressed with the level of service provided by the receptionist. She had a very welcome attitude and a wonderful personality.

TTraveller354After reading very mixed reviews, we went ahead and booked it. The result: very mixed feelings. The location was beautiful, the sights breathtaking, the animals adorable, but when it came to actually spending time there, there wasn’t much to do. We arrived on a later ferry so we knew we wouldn’t have much time to enjoy the sun after arrival, however because of a mix up, our suitcases went missing for an hour making us miss any chance of getting in the pool while it was hot out. After, we went for dinner. There are only 2 restaurants available, and without making a reservation before hand, it’s a bit hard to go when you want. The food was ok, but expensive as one would expect from a place like this. Once dinner was finished, the evening entertainment (Alice in Wonderland screening) was already underway and we found ourselves with nothing to do at 9pm. Early night for us. The following day we planned a day of snorkelling, stingray feeding and kayaking. We appreciated the free snorkel gear as well as the clear safety instructions and recommendations of the lifeguard. The sting Ray feeding experience was amazing and it was clear the staff knew what they were talking about and were passionate about the animals. Kayaking and other water sports were cancelled however because of the high winds, leaving us, once again, with nothing to do. Early dinner (very entertaining moment with wallabies attempting to steal our food and being super cuddly), a walk around the beach, movie in the room, and early bedtime. So all in all, beautiful location with great experiences of the weather allow, make sure to bring some entertainment if the water is too cold to swim in the pool or the weather turns sour. Maybe a book or some board games? Also: if you want food in the late afternoon, make sure you bring some snacks as there is a limited selection available.

GGuest UserThe check in was fine, the car parking was easy enough, but the room was not in good shape. The room was asthough it had experienced 20 years of schoolines and nothing had been attended to. There was paint peeling off, chips, cracks, unclean carpet, unkept room items. The clock was flashing random time, I didn't check to see if the TV was working, but it didn't mater, I wasn't staying in the room to watch it. The beds were very clean though, which I was relieved to see. The breakfast in the dining room was very nice, that was the saving grace. Won't be staying at this mantra again :(

GGuest UserPros * Location (Central to every where) * Great view (Riverview from 8th floor was excellent) Cons * Run-down room (room seems old and not maintained well. Even had a cockroach) * Interrupted sleeps (windows are thin and not blocking street noise. Kept on waking up to police and fire brigade sirens)
