Floral Lux Hotel·Suzhou Moke Garden (Pingjiang Road Historical Block)

9.8/10
Perfect

Huazhu She · Suzhou Moke Garden Cultural Hotel A hidden gem near Pingjiang Road, this hotel boasts a garden with a history spanning several centuries. Guests and casual visitors are separated by an electric privacy gate, which effectively safeguards privacy. Initially, I was concerned about mosquitoes, but my worries were unfounded. Aromatic mosquito repellents are placed everywhere in the garden; they are effective and not overpowering. The staff also regularly check and replace them. The hotel offers complimentary cultural performances for guests. With only 12 rooms, guests enjoy undisturbed peace. I stayed in 'Guanhua Hall', which was advertised as 45 square meters but felt more like 50+. The interior design eschews modern minimalism in favor of authentic garden-style rosewood furniture, meticulously restored from an old mansion. Every corner of the room was impeccably clean, a testament to the owner's exceptional upkeep. At my age, I truly appreciate this kind of classic ambiance. The butler service was also superb – highly responsive and incredibly attentive. A shuttle service is provided for both arrival and departure, and the breakfast, a healthy home-cooked meal, was absolutely delightful. This hotel is truly a place to slow down and quietly immerse yourself in the experience – a serene oasis in the heart of the bustling city.

The room facilities are incredibly advanced, clearly designed with great care, blending classical and modern aesthetics. The garden view from the window is as stunning as a scenic garden, and taking photos here is just as good as Humble Administrator's Garden. The hotel service was excellent, special thanks to Haitang and Canglan! We initially parked our car under the Crowne Plaza Hotel, but the staff helped us drive it up and park it under a shaded tree. They also kindly extended our check-out time to 2 PM for free. The hotel's noodle restaurant was also delicious, truly deserving of its Michelin-level Suzhou-style noodles. Hotel guests even get a 12% discount, and the staff even helped us get a queue number. Thumbs up! 👍 In the evening, we enjoyed the complimentary Martini special drink from the hotel. It had a very pure, authentic dry martini taste, and a drink at night was truly refreshing and heartwarming.

The hotel's ambiance is top-notch, like a deserted version of those popular 'one-tree' camping sites. We were in a rush this time, but next time we visit, we'll definitely camp on the big lawn. The hotel staff are all very enthusiastic, and Manager Xiao Huang even upgraded our room type. If I had to pick a downside, it's that the hotel is a bit old, and the room facilities have that classic, older style which might not appeal as much to younger guests. However, it's absolutely perfect for families traveling with children and seniors.

Staying at the Nanyuan Hotel was undoubtedly the highlight of my trip to Suzhou. This garden-style hotel is a living historical museum, having hosted many important leaders. The Chiang family villa and Xiangqu Tower within the grounds are steeped in rich history. On the day of check-in, hotel staff gave us a dedicated tour of the gardens, providing detailed explanations that made us feel like we were traveling through time with every changing view. The room was well-equipped with high-quality aromatherapy, coffee, and tea. The staff were incredibly attentive; noticing we enjoyed them, they discreetly left extra coffee and tea bags, and even gave me a few additional aromatherapy pellets. This kind of thoughtful service, anticipating needs without being asked, is truly rare and appreciated. The front desk offered several small gifts during check-in. Upon departure, they also gave us exclusive fridge magnets for the building we stayed in, as well as one for the Chiang family villa, which are lovely keepsakes. The Nanyuan perfectly blends historical charm with warm, attentive service, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

The service of the little sister at the front desk is really good! The smile is very comfortable! The gentleness of Suzhou women's speech is vividly reflected! The balcony of the room is very comfortable, but it is best to go after the catkin season. There were too many catkins during the days I went there. As for the room facilities, I think the shower room is a little backward, and the faucet is adjusted separately for cold and hot water. I think the quality of the paper towels in this price room can be better, so that the grade is OK. After all, there is no off-season in Suzhou now, it is always the peak season😂

During my recent trip to Suzhou, I had the pleasure of staying at 'Shantang Shuxiang Residence'. It's a tranquil oasis tucked away from the bustling city; just ten steps out, you're amidst the lively streets, yet within the hotel's courtyard, a sense of peace envelops you. I distinctly recall a sweltering day with heavy traffic, but thankfully, a rickshaw from the street corner whisked us through the alleyways with refreshing speed. The hotel's garden isn't large, and our room was in a charming two-story wooden building. The elegant room was spacious and tidy. I particularly appreciated the firm bed, which allowed for a comfortable night's sleep without any back pain. All the toiletries were Bvlgari, and there were even books on the desk for a quiet read. Before check-in, I added the butler on WeChat, who arranged a rickshaw to pick us up and even provided fresh fruit and afternoon tea. Later, when the AC in our initial room started dripping, they promptly moved us to another room without any fuss. The front desk staff were warm and greeted us every time we entered or left. What touched me most was during breakfast, my child accidentally threw away their retainer with some waste paper, and the restaurant auntie, without hesitation, sifted through the trash to find it for us – a special thank you to her. Though the breakfast was simple, it was well-balanced and satisfying. The chicken noodle soup was excellent; my son even had two bowls. Since the hotel is located within a scenic area, there are plenty of eateries and snacks everywhere. This place perfectly blends the convenience of city life with the elegance of a garden, making it a top choice for a visit to Suzhou.

I have got the free upgrade and the room was an apartment with kitchen and separated living room. Hotel probably not very new. Staff very helpful. The location is perfect, just in the heart of Suzhou Industrial Park, everything is nearby.

Hotels these days always talk about 'cost reduction and efficiency improvement,' but there's a prerequisite for that: it shouldn't come at the expense of service quality. Otherwise, it's just cutting corners. This hotel definitely gets full marks for its environment. The air in the mountains is fresh, and it's very quiet, with birds chirping and insects buzzing – very peaceful. However, the service staff are all temporary hires, so the service is a bit subpar. Let me give you a few examples: When I checked in, I was told there was a shuttle bus. At first, I didn't take it and walked up the stairs myself. After walking several flights, I felt quite tired. I saw a cleaning lady and asked her where to catch the shuttle. She immediately replied, 'Don't ask me, I'm just here temporarily to clean, I don't know anything.' I was sleeping soundly in the morning but was woken up by sunlight. I saw the sun streaming in from the bathroom window, and the bathroom door was transparent and didn't block the light. I noticed a roller blind on the bathroom window, an electric one, but couldn't find the switch. So I called the front desk to ask. The front desk staff said she didn't know where the switch was either and would have to send an engineering staff member to my room to find it. Eventually, I found the switch on an recessed wall above the bathroom vanity, but by the time I found it, my sleepiness was gone. Since I was awake, I went down for breakfast. There was a host stand at the restaurant entrance, but no one was there. I waited for a while, still no one, so I just went in. A lady in a black suit in the restaurant saw me and asked for my room number. I thought, 'You should at least seat me first before asking for my room number!' She casually pointed and said, 'Just find a seat yourself, any empty spot is fine.' Then she scurried off, no longer caring about the room number. After breakfast, I thought about visiting the nearby Yuyang Mountain Scenic Area. I asked the hotel front desk, and the staff member told me I could take the cable car to the top of the mountain for the views. She confidently told me the cable car station was right at the main entrance of the scenic area. In reality, the cable car station and the main entrance are completely different locations. The cable car entrance is about two or three hundred meters from the hotel, while the scenic area's main entrance is six or seven hundred meters away. If you want to take the cable car up the mountain, don't do what I did and go all the way to the main entrance before backtracking to the cable car entrance. Even a few hundred meters in hot weather can make you sweat profusely. It felt like the hotel staff themselves had never actually been there. I arrived at the hotel around 1 PM, and I wanted to ask if there was a room available for check-in. If not, I'd go out for lunch first. As soon as my car pulled into a parking spot in front of the hotel lobby, a man in a white shirt came over to shoo me away, saying 'Don't park here, don't park here!' in a very aggressive tone. I said I was just asking if there was a room available. He said, 'No room, no room, no room now,' very impatiently. I retorted, 'Oh, so you know everything, do you?' He rolled his eyes at me and walked away. That was my first impression of the 'white shirt' guy. Later, I saw him delivering fruit to rooms, delivering meals to rooms, he was everywhere. In the morning, I was sitting in the hotel lobby waiting for someone to go to breakfast together, and he came over and said, 'Go sit over there, I'm going to turn on the air conditioning, I need to close the doors and windows first,' his tone leaving no room for argument. When I was checking out, I saw 'white shirt' in the lobby helping guests with their luggage, seeming to enjoy himself immensely. I was so curious about what kind of job this 'white shirt' person actually had. Finally, I found out he was the hotel general manager. Well, that certainly fits the bill, a 'Labor Day' experience of life, I suppose. Finally, I'd like to tell the hotel that the bath towels and face towels in the rooms need replacing. They're supposed to be pristine white and soft, but they've become stiff and stained black. The chair covers on the balcony also need to be replaced; they're all torn. All things considered, for a price range of around a thousand yuan, this resort hotel is still worth staying at.

The hotel grounds are vast, with a large lakeside area featuring a yacht club and a charming garden – the scenery is fantastic! Xishan Island has a good ecosystem, but there are quite a few insects. Breakfast was plentiful, and for lunch we ordered hot and sour shredded potatoes, which were incredibly delicious with a wonderful wok hei (wok aroma)! We ended up having dinner at the hotel again, enjoying tea-smoked pork ribs and bamboo shoots with silver fish – the chef's skill was excellent. It was more affordable and suited our tastes better than the trendy restaurants outside. Before dinner, the staff thoughtfully gave us homemade fresh meat mooncakes, which were sweet and delicious! This made up for our only regret on our trip – we hadn't brought any mooncakes. The yacht service is also a highlight; you need to book it yourself at the club's front desk. The staff and speedboat driver who greeted us were experienced and very kind – a truly unforgettable experience. I hope the hotel continues to thrive!
