Overall a nice hostel for solo travelers to seek for a place to have a nice rest during their journey. The room is clean and quiet and lockers are provided for free for us to store our belongings. The common kitchen is opened for 24 hours and the environment inside is pretty nice. Worth for a try if you are traveling to London and searching for a place to rest!
Excellent for economy & solo travel. All nice staffs & flexible management. All as pictures shown in website. Bed is clean, tidy & comfortable. Soft closing door & auto lock are perfect. Well equipped kitchen & dining area at lower ground level with big & bright windows. A whole wall size big screen & 2 big sofa at movie room.
window of 4-bed female room facing main street, not busy traffic but not really quiet. only the sockets on the room table of the room.
The hostel provided a comfortable stay overall. The staff were friendly and efficient. The bed was comfortable, however there was quite a bit of noise on one night with people coming in late and making noise in the nearby pods. The shower is quite basic and you have to keep a button pressed in order to operate so it is quite difficult to wash your hair! I also got locked in one of the shower cubicles as the door handle was a little loose but I finally managed to get out. Some of the toilets were a little bit dirty during my stay which was a little off putting. There are no mirrors in the main pod area which would be helpful for getting ready. The location is very central with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. I would return if I were in the area and would make a recommendation to others but caveat to say this is a very basic stay.
The room was basic but clean. The bathroom was also clean whenever I used it. The service was a little slow but the staff were very busy and doing their best. The high point was definitely the breakfast,as others have said. Low point was the noise (doors banging, loud conversations in the corridors) which went on until after midnight and began again at 6.30am. Great for the price and would probably book again for a single night if sleep isn't essential for the next day's activities!
From Heathrow Airport to Russell Square station, the hotel is close to Russell Square station. So it is quite convenient. But from the train to the exit of Russell Square station you need to carry your luggage upstairs yourself for a little bit
When you book ask for a room at the rear of the hotel, otherwise you will have a lot of noise from the outside road. Very clean, and comfortable budget hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The local area does not have many restaurants, shops, pubs etc. The underground train station is a 15 minute walk away and there are very good underground trains into central London. Excel is easily accessible on the underground and Docklands Light Railway, A good car park is available which charges £10 for 24 hours,
The hostel's entrance is within the Bar called Belushis, this is again shared for the hostel's reception and hostel's breakfast area.
The bar is described as sport themed on their website, but I would say it's more of an alternative music theme instead, as the decor in the toilets, the passage and stage area are fitted with them type of posters.
I arrived on a Sunday at around 7:30pm, there was a blonde Irish musician playing a guitar and singing, there were also playing womens' soccer on the 6 TV screens, but every one I saw was watching the musician. The ambience was very lively and enjoyable, as the musician was there and had good encouragement skills, when small~talking in between each song.
St Christopher's Inn's check in desk was located next to Belushis's (drinks) bar, a small gap made it a detached unit, the bar tender was also the hostel's receptionist.
A photo of your passport is suffice, for the required identification when checking in. (Do not try to use a railcard or an annual bus pass, as these 2 forms of photographic identification are not acceptable.)
It's compulsory to pay a refundable £2 lending fee for the key card, which they give back when you give back their key card.
Once in the hostel I explored, their entertainment room is called the 'Chill Out Room', the room is big with a big TV screen, the TV is connected to the Internet and is also an (internet) browser. There are also lots of movie DVDs and some boxed party games. There are 2 padded sofas and 2 padded armchairs, a kitchen including a kettle, attached to this room is an additional room for lockers.
The dormitory I was allocated to had 12 beds, including 1 shower and 2 wash basins. (Out of the dormitory) beside the corridor there were 2 individual toilet rooms.
The morning after I had breakfast, it's an affordable price of £6, which has a big selection of foods and is all self serviced.
Me and my partner decided to stay here for one night during our trip to London. For the price we was pleasantly surprised.
Its ibis budget and not the Ritz Carlton but the bed was comfy and clean the room was basic with a working TV and a Shower with hot water and the hotels staff was able to provide a hairdryer for us to use free of charge.
Staff were friendly enough and was able to provide little things like bottle openers. The shared dining space had a microwave and a coffee machine with complimentary herbal tea and everyday tea.
However some of the rooms show the age there was an issue with plumbing in our room the drains had a bad smell when the water was running but the staff resolved it
It could really do with a dust on the windowsill and behind the TV and on the counters.
Breakfast was basic continental breakfast however everything was fresh and of a good quality not bad for the price.
All in all enjoy the hotel for short stays and dont be shy to speak to the staff if you have any issues.
Okay location. Relatively close to the station. The area is nice and quiet but a bit dark and lonely to walk in at night. Great comfortable beds pillows and amenities. The room was very clean. Just wished they had A.C. conveniently located and priced.
I liked the room. The mattress was very hard, couldnt sleep properly. The heating was too much. Couldnt breathe

AAngelI am writing to provide feedback on our recent stay at your hotel. While the location was excellent, we found that the hotel itself was in need of some improvements.
Firstly, I would like to highlight the positive aspect of our stay, which was the great location of the hotel. It was conveniently situated near various attractions and amenities, allowing us to easily explore the area. This was definitely a major advantage during our visit.
However, we were disappointed with the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel. The rooms appeared to be in need of a deep cleansing, as there were noticeable stains on the carpets and walls. Additionally, the furniture and fixtures seemed worn out and outdated. A fresh coat of paint and new beds would greatly enhance the overall appearance and comfort of the rooms.
Furthermore, we found the lack of a welcoming lobby person to be quite disappointing. Upon arrival, we were not greeted or assisted by any staff members. This lack of hospitality made us feel unwelcome and left a negative impression.
In conclusion, while the location of the hotel was excellent, we believe that improvements are necessary to enhance the overall guest experience. A thorough cleaning, along with updates to the rooms and furniture, would greatly improve the comfort and aesthetics of the hotel. Additionally, having a friendly and welcoming lobby person would contribute to a more positive and enjoyable stay.
P.S. positive side- I truly appreciate the staff at the hotel who made the effort to move us to a more convenient floor. Additionally, it's always a pleasant experience when the breakfast lady is friendly and accommodating.
(No elevator/lift)
(I paid too much for 3nights so I was expecting a good place to relax after 27hours of travelling with a toddler).
WWing ManThe room provided was not the same as shown on the trip-web. We booked a 2-bed delux room but was assigned to a 2-twin-size-bed room. One of the beds was a sofa-bed. Layout of the room was weird. The furnitures (esp. sofa and cushions) were old and worn with dirt marks. The small kitchen had bad smell. I can hardly say it was a delux room as mentioned in the description. Unless for budget reason, I would not recommend it to others.
AAnonymous UserI had issues with the app to begin with and missed a lot of updates and notifications, like the 'how to get in' instruction video. However, on arrival the self check-in code machine was not working properly. I tried several times only for an alarm to go off. Others joined me and also tried the code without luck. We tried to contact the telephone number listed but immediately hung up on several occasions. We eventually dialled the 'after 9pm emergency' number who didn't help first time, but helped the send time. Once in, the property was not quite as I expected, but the pods were comfortable if not a little stuffy on a warm night. But it did the trick. The area is perfectly fine, walking distance of Brick Lane, Spitalfields Market and both Whitechapel and Aldgate East train stations. I was a bit cautious late at night being a single female, but once inside I felt perfectly safe. I would use it again when in the area as it was reasonably priced and kinda funky.
GGuest UserNot enough shower/toilet.
Just one small wall fan for the entire room, I guess it's ok during winter. Unfortunately, I was there at the beginning of summer, so a bit uncomfortable at night.
GGuest UserHotel is well kept and clean. Very close to earls court station. Few minutes walk away. Only problem encountered, no means of turning on the aircon and we styaed at the basement.
NNikos BlaxosThe location was pretty good and also the bed was clean and tidy but overall the place let's say it wasn't in the best condition. The bathroom sink kept blocking by simply washing your hands and the shower water had 0 pressure unless you wanted to get 2nd degree burn on the closet There were some black spots on the floor so probably mold or something like that. The same on the windows ledge. Paid £290 for 3 nights so would expect at least some basic things.
SSam2456I was attending an event In the city so needed a place to stay and came across this hotel. The location is very good Edgware road station is just a walk away. I have to say from start to end of my stay I felt very welcomed ,gained some life advice which is very sweet. Edris you made my stay feel very safe and welcoming, honestly such a nice and kind guy, wonderful host and I can see that you work really hard and go the extra mile to make guests feel welcome, litterally answered all my dumb questions even at 2am lol, thank you. :)
TT EstherJust had an amazing stay at PubLove at The Green Man in London, and I can't recommend it enough! This place perfectly blends the charm of a traditional British pub with the convenience of a hostel. From the moment I arrived, the friendly staff made me feel right at home. The pub downstairs was bustling with locals and travelers alike, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere. Their selection of craft beers and classic pub grub was spot on—I highly recommend the fish and chips! The rooms were clean and comfortable, with all the essentials for a good night's sleep. What really stood out was the community vibe; I met fellow travelers from all over the world and we exchanged stories over a pint. The location is fantastic too, just a short walk from Edgware Road Station, making it easy to explore all that London has to offer. Whether you're in town for a quick visit or an extended stay, PubLove at The Green Man is a fantastic choice! 🌍🍺🛌
