However, my stay at Novotel Xiamen Central completely overturned that perception. The hotel is integrated into a larger complex, and from the moment you step inside, an air of high-end elegance immediately greets you. The facilities and meticulous attention to detail are truly exceptional in Xiamen. The service, from check-in to laundry, dining, and check-out, was absolutely impeccable. Every single staff member offered a genuine smile, which contributed to a truly wonderful overall experience!

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. During our stay, we received remarkable services from the hotel staff beginning with the young Bellboy who greeted us on the day we arrived and thereafter. The front desk staff are friendly and professional; check-in was quick and easy, and especially Charis, who had patiently answered many questions that we had for Xiamen. We appreciated Lia, who helped us to get taxi by using her own phone with the local DiDi program and makes sure the taxi driver knows our destination. We also appreciated Alice from the dining room, who to cut and packed the fruits we brought from the market on the day we checked out. Last but not least was cleaned daily. We felt great when we saw a note from the housekeeper and found towels folded 🐘 on our bed one day and a swan on the next day.

AAoli&aoliaoAfter spending our first night on Gulangyu Island, we had originally planned to leave Xiamen the following day after sightseeing. However, an urgent matter came up, and by the time we finished dealing with it, it was almost 11 PM. We made a rather last-minute decision to stay another night, so I quickly searched online and found this hotel with an impressive 4.7 rating. Its opening in 2017 was another plus, suggesting the interiors wouldn't be too dated. After reviewing the hotel's photos and services, we were particularly attracted by the pool, which the kids would love, and the choice of sea view or mountain view rooms. We promptly booked online.
Upon check-in, we could call the front desk to request disposable bath liners, kids' bathrobes, and toiletries. Soaking in the spacious bathtub was incredibly refreshing for both children and adults. Enjoying a few cups of Gongfu tea afterwards was simply delightful, and the tea set was a thoughtful touch that perfectly catered to our Chaoshan tea preferences.
During our stay, an unexpected situation arose. The night concierge, whom we'd added on WeChat during check-in, provided incredibly prompt assistance. A big thumbs up to the hotel's management! I'd also like to commend the on-duty concierge and manager for their professionalism and efficient problem-solving.
This hotel truly met my expectations for this Xiamen trip. I would definitely choose it again and recommend it to friends and family.

GGuest UserDuring this trip to Xiamen, we stayed at three hotels, and my child absolutely loved The Portman the most. I would also highly recommend it.
Here's why: Qixing Bay boasts a beautiful seascape with fewer crowds. You can probably catch both sunrise and sunset here (though we didn't specifically try). The hotel's direct access to the beach, just across the road, is incredibly convenient. At low tide, you can go beachcombing – there were plenty of hermit crabs, razor clams, and balloon-shaped ghost crabs. We caught some and then released them all. The coastal road alongside the beach is great for cycling, or you can rent an e-bike to enjoy the ocean views. In the evenings, you might even stumble upon some street vendors or activities. It's tranquil and scenic during the day, lively but not noisy at night – a stark contrast to the busy Huandao Road, which is constantly packed with people and traffic.
As for the hotel itself, it's sprawling and stunning. Every corner offers a picturesque spot, perfect for taking photos. The rooms are generously sized with high ceilings, creating a very spacious feel. If you opt for a sea-view room, the ocean vista is expansive and unobstructed, unlike some hotels where 'sea view' means straining to glimpse a distant, hazy ocean. The hotel also boasts comprehensive facilities, including a swimming pool, a water park, and a kids' club – everything you need. It's absolutely perfect for a relaxing three or four-day 'staycation' with children.
The staff members are generally friendly and professional. In particular, the pool attendants are very responsible and meticulous, strictly managing the area. They test and change the water daily, and the water quality was indeed much cleaner than at the state-owned hotel we stayed at previously. The hotel is conveniently located, about a 20-minute drive from Xiamen North Station and Jimei University Town.
I heard there are several breakfast venues, but we only tried the French restaurant. The selection wasn't huge, but the quality was excellent. They also offered local specialties like Shacha noodles, peanut soup, and Mianxian paste – a 'quality over quantity' approach, I'd say. Plus, kids under 1.2 meters eat for free.
The only minor drawback was that due to how busy the hotel was during our stay, there were some inevitable oversights in room cleaning. However, I personally found this understandable. As long as you don't have excessively strict hygiene requirements, it should be acceptable.
After two nights, my child declared that they want to come to Xiamen again next time, specifically insisting on staying at The Portman.

The only thing is that there are few places to eat around the hotel. The convenience store is also far away. It is about a 20-minute walk to the nearest shopping mall and restaurant. The hotel area is next to an office building area.

YYuguotianqing111After researching online, I decided to stay at the Pan Pacific Hotel, and it definitely didn't disappoint. As soon as I arrived, I was greeted with a warm atmosphere. The hotel was exceptionally clean, the room was spacious, and the view was fantastic.
After a leisurely breakfast, it was only a 10-minute walk to the Dongdu Ferry Terminal. Plus, having a subway station right downstairs made all my subsequent travels incredibly convenient. Honestly, the hotel's Chinese restaurant was even better than many outside. I thought their Ginger Duck (Jiang Mu Ya) tasted more authentic than what I found elsewhere. The crispy squab and all the fried rice options were also incredibly tasty. To top it off, they offer an all-you-can-eat buffet for just 118 RMB per person, which is fantastic value, especially considering even a simple bowl of noodles in Xiamen can cost 30 RMB.
Moreover, the hotel bed was exceptionally comfortable. As someone who often struggles with sleep, my sleep quality literally doubled. In short, the Pan Pacific Hotel greatly enhanced my overall travel experience. It was absolutely fantastic! I will definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit to Xiamen.

Centrally located for visits to Gulangyu Island (leave before 5 PM to avoid peak rush) and Riyuegu Hotsprings (all-day retreat till 10 PM).
