"I had a layover in Xiamen while flying from Beijing to Haikou. After reading the reviews, I decided on Yijia Apartment, and it certainly didn't disappoint – the value for money was outstanding! The owner even picked me up from the airport in the very early hours after my flight landed. The next morning, they provided a wake-up call at 6:30 AM and then drove me to the airport. I was so grateful for their exceptional service!"

"The directions given are for taking taxi and if you’re driving, you have to park near the residence lift lobby. Parking is on the expensive side. Location and view of the residence is good. But the registration procedure for foreigners is tedious especially for huge group. I hope the owner can make things easier by just taking photo of our documents instead of filling the complicated form with facial recognition required. Condition of the residence is acceptable and the operator has helped to topup the towel and slippers as they did not give sufficient amount initially."

"We booked the 4 bedrooms apartment, if you are here for the view you won’t be disappointed. Otherwise the place is like a hostel, whole building is used for room rental, and cafes, spa are on the same building. We were on 53rd floor and there is a cafe a few unit away. It seems that they can run any kind of business as they pleased. Mostly young adults and the place is very very busy, I guess it’s because it’s next to the university. They make you register for check in on an app but all the gate and lift access system are broken. We came from B1 carpark and we can take the lift right up to the room without any security check, I was worried about security but it seems that there are cameras everywhere. The apartment was disappointing as it was old and run down. The mahjong table was broken, the sofa are not comfortable, the shower room is mouldy and if you use the rain shower it will flood as the drainage is not efficient. The kitchen was fitted with Miele oven/washer/hood but they don’t seems to allow you to use it as they keep bedsheets and miscellaneous thing in all the drawers and oven. No utensils of any kind. We did make use of the big fridge though. I do have to say the owner/housekeeper and cleaner are very responsive to all the requests, my aircon was broken and they send someone to fix it at 10pm, but can only be fixed the next day, luckily I have the spare room to sleep in for the 1st night. (Aircon is loud in the small room too, had to wear earplugs) The view from the apartment is magnificent, period."

Rooms: The rooms are clean overall, though unfortunately, I did experience bed bug bites in the queen bedroom, which should be treated before hosting future guests. One downside is the lack of a place to hang clothes in the bedrooms. There’s only a single clothes rack in the living room, which feels a bit out of place. Hopefully, some improvements can be made in this area. Each bedroom has a projector screen, which seems unnecessary given there is already a large projector screen in the living room. Suggestions: Consider removing the projectors from the bedrooms and installing some wall hooks or proper hanging space for clothes instead. Cleanliness: As mentioned, I encountered bed bugs in the queen bedroom. Please address this issue for future guests. Staff: We were assisted by a male and a female staff member—unfortunately, we didn’t catch their names—but both were very friendly and helpful. The housekeeper who did our laundry was also very kind and accommodating."

"The room is large, clean and beautiful, very suitable for taking photos and checking in. There is a bathtub in the large French window, and you can see Gulangyu Island and the sea outside the window. You can watch the sunset in the evening. In such a good location, it is a good deal to stay in a room with a sea view at this price. There are many attractions around. We didn't walk far, but went to the nearby Shapowei, Baicheng Beach, and Botanical Garden. It was very good to visit, and the children especially liked it. "The most surprising thing about staying at The Wizard of Oz is the courtyard garden! Century-old longan trees, lush and leafy, envelope you in deep shade as you enter the courtyard. In the summer, sitting on a stone bench beneath the tree while sipping tea, the breeze carries the fragrance of leaves. In spring, roses crawl across the red brick walls, their pink and white petals falling on the bluestone slabs. In autumn, vines bear purple berries, and sunlight filters through the leaves, casting dappled shadows. Every photo is a beautiful soothing moment. Birdsong wakes you in the morning, butterflies flit through the flowers when you open the window, and time seems to slow down as you sit in the courtyard watching the sunset in the evening. Compared to the small courtyards of other B&Bs, this one feels more like a private garden hidden away on Gulangyu Island. Even after a day, I still haven't explored enough. I'd love to spend more time in the garden next time I visit!"
