We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights during our first visit to Kyoto. This hotel is very clean with nice accessories and modern Japanese accommodations located in quiet neighborhood away from constant tourist crowds but at the same time in walking distance from the emperor palace and right across from Nijo Castle. It is only 10-15 minutes away on taxi from Gion district and other main tourist attractions that Kyoto can offer. I also would like mention Garrya Nijo Castle Kyoto staff that made us feel very welcomed and specifically to Timothy Hui (front office manager) who went beyond his duties and make special accommodations for us during our visit in Kyoto.

The Okura Okazaki Bettie is a beautifully designed modern hotel and was the perfect choice for our combined business/leisure visit to Kyoto. The location was reasonably close (short taxi ride) to excellent restaurants and sights in the culturally historic area east of the river. The guest room quality, cleanliness and comfort is excellent - finished to a high standard with large windows overlooking the garden below and temples beyond. Breakfast was served in the restaurant overlooking the hotel's own zen garden. The choice of either ”Kyoto”or ”American” breakfast was amazing, beautifully presented bento style, exceptionally fresh, plentiful and delicious. Indeed this was one of the best hotel breakfasts ever. Finally the service level is exceptional. Both management and staff did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable and hassle free. Neither the most nor least expensive option in Kyoto - just simple great value. We look forward to returning next time.

We couldn't have stayed in a more amazing hotel while in Kyoto. From the first moment we stepped in, we were greeted with hospitality. Every staff member we encountered was respectful and extremely helpful.
Our room was well appointed and had more amenities than we could use. Not to mention, the private in room onsen. This was the whole reason we chose this hotel and it did not disappoint. The water was refreshing and you could really feel the healing effects.
As for the meals that the hotel provides... I must say both the Japanese set and Western set breakfasts were delightful and had many options. The fresh ingredients and the diligence of the dining staff were impeccable. We felt truly valued as guests.
It is safe to say that I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes to stay in Kyoto. We most certainly will be back!

Dear Sir/Madam,
I recently had the opportunity to stay at your hotel, and I would like to share my experience with you. First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for the exceptional design and comfort your property offers. Kengo Kuma’s architectural brilliance, with its use of natural wood, thoughtful lighting, and integration of art pieces, creates a stunning and serene atmosphere. Additionally, the comfort of the rooms, the quality of the materials, the size of the beds, and the premium linens were truly impressive. In terms of design and comfort, your hotel sets a remarkable standard.
However, I did encounter several service-related issues that I believe could be addressed to enhance the overall guest experience. I would like to share these points in the hope that they are helpful for future improvements:
1. Breakfast Lounge and Sushi Area: The proximity of these two areas creates a strong odor upon entering, which can be unpleasant. Improved ventilation could easily mitigate this issue.
2. Food and Beverage Service After Breakfast: The lack of food and beverage service after breakfast hours was inconvenient. At the very least, providing a space for guests to enjoy tea or coffee would be a welcome addition.
3. Room Service Availability: After a long journey, I was surprised to learn that room service was unavailable and that only rice balls could be provided. Expanding room service options would greatly improve the guest experience.
4. Flexibility with Breakfast Hours: Due to the time difference, I arrived slightly late for breakfast at 10:10 AM and was informed that nothing could be served. Even my request for tea did not receive a clear response. Greater flexibility in accommodating guests dealing with jet lag would be highly appreciated.
5. Lobby Services: The inability to offer anything to drink or even host a guest in the lobby felt restrictive. This could be improved to make the lobby a more welcoming space.
6. Spa Experience: I was unable to experience the renowned Banyan Tree spa as it was fully booked. Expanding spa reservation availability would help meet guest expectations for this signature offering.
In summary, while the hotel excels in design and comfort, the service offerings seem to be constrained by rigid rules and limited hours, which can detract from the overall guest experience. I strongly believe that adopting a more flexible, guest-centered approach would significantly enhance satisfaction.
If the above issues were addressed, I would certainly consider staying at your hotel again during my next visit to Kyoto. Once again, I want to thank you for the exceptional design and comfort provided during my stay and hope that these suggestions contribute to further elevating your standards.
Best regards, next visit to Kyoto. Once again, I want to thank you for the exceptional design and comfort provided during my stay and hope that these suggestions contribute to further elevating your standards.

Overall, amazing stay at the Miyako Westin Kyoto. Great location (quite central but not in the hectic district of Gion, at the foot of the hills on the east side of the side), stones throw to most restaurants / places of interests. Immediately got upgraded to suite when checking in (Platinum Bonvoy member), great service and hospitality. Suite was beautiful with balcony and great view, 2 member of the reception went up and escorted us to the suite. Food was amazing! Great breakfast spread with Japanese and Western options (the croissants are to die for, probably the best I've ever had!). They also have a Japanese Kaiseki option for a more authentic experience Concierge was super helpful. They managed to book us a table at a 1 michelin star Kaiseki restaurant with one day notice (keep in mind that most places are booked out 1-2 months in advance and the concierge had to call 15+ restaurants to find us a table) There was also an in-house ”Onsen” (Japanese bath house) with over 2000 sqm indoor and outdoor hot pool. Amazing place to relax and unwind after a day of exploring the city. Wonderful stay all in all and a definite stay again for future trips to Kyoto. Highly recommended!

We stayed at the Four Seasons Kyoto for three nights in October during our family trip through Japan. The hotel is absolutely stunning. We were upgraded to a huge suite with private garden as I was travelling with an injured leg and could not leave the hotel very much. We met the general manager during check in and she said that if I had to stay at the hotel most of the time they would want to provide me with a beautiful room. What a lovely gesture. We met her again the next morning during breakfast time wehre she went to introduce herself to everyone and to have a small chat with guests. My husband and myself both used the spa and were very happy with treatments. My son and husband used the pool every day which they liked a lot. We had food through room service (the risotto was the best I have ever had). Funnily enough the young lady who served room service was from near our home town in Germany (Hi Mel !). We also at the main restaurant and had drinks in the lobby lounge area. It is also the little details that make a difference. I left my reading glasses out on the desk and when I came back they were on a hotel branded glasses cleaing cloth. And my computer mouse was provided with a hotel branded little mouse pad. Before staying there I was in contact with one of the concierges who helped me create an itinary of what my son and husband should see during our stay in Kyoto. Their recommendations for sightseeing and also outside restaurants were great. The staff in general was very polite and helpful. We cannot fault anything at the hotel. As I was not able to go out much we will definately return. And I can only recommend anyone else to stay there as well.

This hotel is incredible ! It’s brand new, rooms are very upmarket, great facilities, quality of food (breakfast needs to be experienced to be believed), gym was excellent but it is the service that is absolutely mind blowing ! We haven’t experienced anything like it decades ! The check in experience was first class, room service first class and the concierge managed to surprise us every single day - running after us with umbrellas, chasing down taxi’s in the rain, big smiles every day and they were all really nice to our 5 Year old daughter (and it was genuine) ! So, we left our passports in the room safe by mistake - they called as soon as they found them (by which time we were in Tokyo) - the hotel manager, Kiyoshi Gomamoto sent one of their staff (Kokoro) to Tokyo hi hand deliver/return our passports to us, she was a lovely lady ! We are so appreciative and will cherish the memories from this hotel ! Thank you Kokoro, Kiyoshi and everyone at Fauchon. Highly recommended !

My wife’s birthday trip at the Suiran was a dream come true. With successive Covid cancellations, it took us four years of planning, but it was worth the wait. With their traditional Japanese structures and landscaping, the Suiran was our oasis of calm during Kyoto’s busiest season (cherry blossoms). We enjoyed a wonderful dinner and the best breakfasts of our lives in their dining room, and blissful riverside happy hours in their cafe. Our comfortable room had all the amenities, and a soothing minimalist aesthetic. The Suiran staff is spectacular: thoughtful, gracious, attentive. Through our years of planning and days of enjoyment, we were guided by Suiran’s chief concierge, Hiromi Maruyama. Her kindness, patience, and expertise added greatly to the success of our time in Kyoto. Her suggestions and insights, and good spirits were a beacon shining our way. We are indebted to her for her efforts on our behalf.

Just a 6 min walk from Kyoto central station so access to all other areas in Kyoto either by train, subway or bus very easy. Free extras were the afternoon tea, happy hour drinks and evening supper - rice with sauce and nibbles. A couple of the major Buddhist temples 5 ,10 and 20 mins walk also the Japanese railway museum. Loads of food choices at and around the station. Very clean and affordable.

GGuest UserWe stayed here for two nights from October 5-7 and have no complaints about the service and care we received. This is renovated primary school, but you wouldn't know it from how it has been remodeled. Though we did like the wide stairways with wooden bannisters that retained a little of the ”school” feel. The overall atmosphere of the hotel and its grounds is very calming; a nice oasis from the bustle of the city. The room was a good size with very good amenities that made the stay convenient and comfortable. The in-room bar was complimentary and restocked daily. We also had access to the lounge which had free flowing snacks and beverages throughout the day. It was nice to sit next to the window with a warm beverage or a glass of wine after a long day of trekking across the city. We ate in the city, but also made a point to try all of the places to eat in the hotel. We had breakfast on the outside terrace of the main restaurant. The ”well-being” breakfast was healthy and hearty; very filling. We liked that the breakfast was ”by order” rather than buffet. Buffets can be tiring when you just want to sit comfortably on a terrace, enjoying the morning with a cup of coffee. We had one dinner at Benoit, the French restaurant. We tried three mains as part of two set meals we ordered: Sea Bass, Lobster, and Pork Loin. All were done very well. For a late supper, we had a steak on the Rooftop Lounge. The chef himself, strongly suggested I order a different wine with the steak as he felt it complimented it better. It was actually a cheaper wine than I had ordered, so I appreciated that it was a true recommendation. We followed dinner with cocktails in the bar, where the bartender apparently is rather well-known in Kyoto. He certainly had admirers watching him as he made the drinks. The hotel general staff and concierge were all very helpful, helping us reserve cars and check to make sure that our destinations were convenient for our purposes. They also follow-up with us to see if what they had suggested worked out. The only suggestion is to make sure that you leave plenty of time for arriving and leaving. The hotel is right in the middle of a major tourist area. There are many temples in the area, and the streets are lined with tea houses, places to eat or buy souvenirs, and places just to discover or wander about. So depending on the time of day, the traffic can be very congested. That said, from the hotel it's only a 20-minute walk to Nishiki market and the areas around it. Overall, an excellent stay. We would definitely consider the hotel again for any future trip we might have to Kyoto.

GGuest UserThe hotel service is excellent, try to offer tips to the bellboy was rejected, and the free shuttle service to the JR station is very nice feature. But the room size is a bit small consider the price paid. Overall consider a good choice even though the hotel has showed some wear and tear, especially the toilet and shower room are outdated, probably more than 20 years old style.

GGuest UserKyoto Chalet Hotel <SH by the square hotel Kyoto Kiyamachi> Regarding the hotel's environmental atmosphere, share the experience in the reels video of IG account cutedis. This is a introduction to room equipment and accommodation experience. /Check-in/ 1. There are bicycles available at the entrance on the first floor 2. Breakfast is enjoyed in the restaurant on the first floor 3. The hotel lobby is on the second floor 4. Self-service check-in has been imported 5. There are three or four drinks available in the lobby 6. The drinking machine, washing dryer, and microwave oven are all on the second floor 7. Walk for seven minutes between the four and five stations. Not close to the MRT 8. There is a convenience store downstairs across the road 9. The happiness hall and fruit diagonally opposite are cheap and delicious / room type / 36 square meters riverside room This room type I booked half a year ago, so I can stay at the price of NT$4,000 per night in the cherry blossom season. Usually the price of this hotel is more flat, in its very new and clean state, it is a very recommended choice for Kyoto accommodation. The following is the same as a few introductions to the room experience: 1. The entrance dressing room, bathroom, toilet, and bedroom are all separated by doors 2. The bathroom wash area is also separated to improve the efficiency of use 3. The bathtub is more than 30% longer than the average Japanese size 4. The hair dryer is Dyson 5. The space is really big in Japan 6 . It’s no problem to open two large suitcases. 7. The bed is moderately soft and hard. 8. The interior decoration style is very Kyoto 9. The Kyoto Lichi room is similar in style (of course, the materials are much worse) 10. You can see Kiyomizu Temple from the window, and you can see the cherry blossoms of Takashimawa/Singsong/I haven’t played such a short hotel for a long time. In fact, this hotel left most of the space to the room, I have no public idea to write, no breakfast, can not share the relevant experience. But its charm is that the room is very effective, and the design is so strong that my future home wants to fully emulate the spatial design of this room type. Come here, I highly recommend booking a 36-meter riverside room, especially when you can see the cherry blossoms of Takashimawa during the cherry blossom season. Every day when I go back to the hotel, I can walk along the Takashimawa Canal. There are many restaurants and bars around, so that the five-day experience is very happy. This time, the friends who live in other hotels are noisy. I will change this room next time I go to Kyoto. It can be seen how attractive it is. #Kyoto #Japan #kyoto #japan # Kyoto Hotel #Kyoto Hotel #Kyoto Accommodation #kyotohotel # Japan What to live in #Kyoto Stay What to live in #Dandan What to live in

GGuest UserThis was by far our favorite hotel in our 2 weeks in Japan. They were very nice and helpful, let us check in early, and made luggage forwarding easy. Plus, the room had lots of great amenities, including a balcony and an incredible tub (the microbubbles were a life saver after a long day of walking!) The face masks were a nice bonus, since my skin did not take to Japan very well. And breakfast was amazing, and served in the room, every morning. On top of all that, the location is amazing: overlooking the river, extremely close to Pontocho, only a few blocks from a major train station.

AAnonymous UserI had a wonderful stay at this clean hotel! The room, while cozy, was perfect for a solo traveler. Bed is comfortable as well. It’s located along a quieter street and about 400m to the nearest bus stop, so arriving here with luggage may be just a little challenging during peak hours. About 15-20mins to Kyoto station if you like a walk. Bus/train rides to the popular areas in Kyoto.
The hotel amenities were great though —everything you need for a comfortable stay. Would recommend if you are okay with the traveling time at the start and end of each day.

JJoannaTVery good stay with perfect location. A walk behind the hotel is the bars and restaurants district of Kyoto - you can find a lot of speakeasies and enjoy nights of drinking cocktails and music.
It is also just a 5-10 minutes walk to the station which connects to the various attractions in Kyoto - like Fushimi Inari Shrine, and Arashiyama Bamboo Forest.
We went during New Year’s Day - and although some shops are closed but bars are open and the hotel reception has a list of restaurants which are open as well and is helpful in letting us know.
The room ( we picked one of the artist’s room) and it is wonderful. It is big and spacious by Japanese standard with very large bathroom , separate bathtub and toilet and large space. The facade of the room is also a clean, minimalist look with the detailed white and black cups down. We really enjoyed the room and the space.
Breakfast is complimentary and there is a good selection of toasts. One of us is vegetarian - and they do have a selection of vegetarian toast ( not much) but they accommodated with vegetarian soup if you ask !

GGuest UserWe liked this ryokan. So so clean and spotless. Very polite staff. Comfortable futons. Toilet is a seperate vestibule with separate bathtub which was kinda small and a shower. The sink had enough counter space and enough lighting. There was a mirror right in the shower area that was like waist tall with a stool. I used it as a makeup mirror sitting on the stool and it was perfect height with lighting from above but not sure if that was the intent. They left us 2 yukatas and I saw some tourists wear them at breakfast. Many Japanese touches in the room like a wooden clothes drying rack, tea set, small bench to change your shoes, slippers. For us 2 nights was enough since we really prefer the amenities of a hotel but great experience. Ver walkable as well to Yasaka Shrine which was around the corner and Gion and Kiyomizudera Temple. We opted from the kaiseki dinner and breakfast. The dinner was pretty pricey but we wanted to try a kaiseki experience and it was quite nice. If coming from Kyoto Station, check the hotels website for directions. It will say to walk over to bus stop D2. Google maps doesn't mention the bus stop, they only mention the bus number 206 so it was helpful that the hotel website gave that detail otherwise you would have to read the bus map at the station and that was a bit confusing I would also print out or have handy on your phone the Japanese characters of the ryokan name. It's in a small alley but you can see the large lighted sign of the hotel name in Japanese from the end of the street while you're walking by. It's just a 5 minute walk from the bus stop.

HHehehe_233Overall it's not bad, comparable to the level of old four- and five-star hotels in China
The service is very good, but the furniture and facilities in the room are quite old. The room is similar to the four- and five-star hotels in Beijing more than ten years ago, but fortunately it is clean and tidy.
There is a free shuttle bus to Kyoto Station, the interval is not large, and the driver is also very enthusiastic and very good, saving the cost of taking the subway to and from the train station.
In general, it is good, and I will consider it next time I come to Kyoto.

SSAMMICCEverything is good, the only thing I think could be better is about the check in and out time, it can only check in at 4pm and you have to check out at 10am, you don't really have 24hrs for the stay, they do have public hotspring, however we don't really have enough time to enjoy as the dinner is provided by other restaurant which is not inside the hotel. The meal provided is kinda not my expectation. In general the room is great, service is good, but not nearby convenient store and you cannot get any food if you are hungry at night.
