"The hotel is just one subway stop away from Kyoto Station. There's a shuttle bus that runs between the hotel and Kyoto Station, and you can get discount coupons at the hotel lobby. It's 100 yen per ride for both adults and children. On the second floor, there's a restaurant, and on the first floor, there are shops and experience centers for flower arrangement, tea ceremony, and pottery. The hotel also provides discount coupons for dining on the second floor, with no restrictions on use. Each coupon is worth 1000 yen, and we received and used all four of them. Behind the hotel is the Central Fish Market. I recommend visiting between 4-5 AM to witness the wholesale auction. We arrived at 5:45 AM and it was almost over. If waking up that early is too difficult, exploring all the exhibitions in the corridor on the second floor will also provide a lot of interesting insights. Next to the hotel are Umekoji Park, an aquarium, and a railway museum, making it very suitable for families with children. The hotel rooms are spacious, and the hot spring on the third floor is very comfortable. There's also a rooftop on the ninth floor where you can enjoy the night view."

"I had a wonderful stay at this hotel, where the hospitality truly stood out. The front desk staff greeted me with the warmest smile one that never faded and offered an ice cold towel to wipe off the summer sweat. Such a thoughtful touch in Kyoto’s scorching heat! The room was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and provided a peaceful retreat after a long day of sightseeing. Small acts of kindness like this make all the difference, and I’m so grateful for the staff’s attentive service."

Hotel near Nijo Castle,Kyoto
Located in Kyoto (Downtown Kyoto), Toyoko Inn Kyoto Nijojo Minami is within a 10-minute walk of Mikane Shrine and Nijō Castle. This hotel is 0.8 mi (1.2 km) from Nishiki Market and 1.6 mi (2.6 km) from Kawaramachi Street. This hotel offers designated smoking areas. A complimentary buffet breakfast is served daily from 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, laundry facilities, and an elevator. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite. Make yourself at home in one of the 255 air-conditioned rooms featuring flat-screen televisions. Complimentary wired and wireless internet access is available. Bathrooms have shower/tub combinations and bidets. Conveniences include desks and electric kettles, and housekeeping is provided weekly.

"This is the biggest Toyoko Inn outlet I have ever been to, with a big dining area and 3-person room which is spacious and comfortable. However, having to change room in a two-night stay was inconvenient and customer-unfriendly (it was because I requested for smoking room on Day 1 and non-smoking room on Day 2 - this was simply because I didn't have a choice at the time of booking as they are always full); I tried asking to stay in the same room but was told all rooms are full. I totally understand it's a very popular outlet and fees are reasonable; however, some quick fixing to give the customers convenient they deserver wouldn't harm/take much efforts."

"advantage: The location is good, the attached hand soap, body wash, and shampoo are very high-end, the room is nice and tidy, the lighting is good, and the breakfast is good (meal coupon for sandwich in the cafe next door) shortcoming: There is a kitchen in the room. Occasionally, there will be a little smell wafting out, maybe a few times (I thought it was us, but it wasn't), and it is a bit inconvenient to get in and out. The door can only be closed after one person takes off his shoes and goes to the entrance, and the room The key is physical, not a card, so you have to hand it to the counter when you want to go out (be careful if you don't dare to communicate with the counter)"

With a stay at Guesthouse Hyakumanben Cross in Kyoto (Sakyo Ward), you'll be within a 15-minute walk of Kyoto University and Kawaramachi Street. This guesthouse is 0.8 mi (1.4 km) from Kyoto Imperial Palace and 1.2 mi (2 km) from Ginkaku-ji Temple. Take in the views from a terrace and make use of amenities such as complimentary wireless internet access and concierge services. Featured amenities include a computer station, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. Motorcycle parking is available onsite. Make yourself at home in one of the 5 air-conditioned rooms featuring microwaves. Prepare your meals in the shared/communal kitchen. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected. Bathrooms feature showers, bidets, and hair dryers.

"It's a 6-minute walk from Demachiyanagi Station, and there are convenience stores and supermarkets nearby, so it's a good location. There is a kitchen in the shared space on the second floor, which is very convenient for those who want to cook for themselves. There are also free drinks, manga, and books. The third floor is a dormitory space, and it is air-conditioned and clean, but in the case of mixed-gender accommodation, the upper bunk beds are not completely separated, so there is no privacy, which is a bit tough, especially for women. The lower bunk beds have curtains that can be closed, so I think they're fine... There are showers and toilets on both the second and third floors. It's good when it's not crowded, but if it's crowded, it may be a hassle to wait in line. There is a curfew, and you can't go out until 6:00 in the morning, so it may be a bit inconvenient for those who want to go out early in the morning."

GGuest UserThe price doubles and goes up. I have stayed in this hotel many times. It always feels good. I came here again after many years and felt that the overall service and the quality of the food in the hotel were much worse. In particular, the service may be understaffed during the peak season, but it is indeed a very good hotel. Be sure not to make any mistakes when booking a hotel, otherwise he will be unkind and only care about money!

LLiujingyanWe chose a large corner room with windows on both sides. The hotel building has a history of more than 200 years. The location is great. It is right at the entrance of Kiyomizu Temple Commercial Street. It is quiet in the bustling city. The hotel is very quiet and elegant, with high-end decoration, complete facilities and excellent service! Breakfast is served in a library-style restaurant, which is very special. I highly recommend Japanese breakfast. Everyone thinks it is high-end Japanese cuisine when they post it on WeChat Moments. There are also vegetarian and children's meal options for breakfast. I also strongly recommend the window seat in the executive lounge. Drink Japanese tea or Japanese whiskey in the afternoon and look at the quaint buildings outside. It is worth the effort!

AAnonymous UserService: Fantastic! Staff are extremely helpful and kind, thank you! We're offered welcome drink and dessert. Staff even helped to bring our luggages to the room. Facilities: Great! Very quiet and private. Everything in the room are complimentary :) Room: Everything's great! Onsen in room is nice! To improve: Have more hooks/space to hang clothes will be even better. Bed is too soft to our likings. We didn't use the chair in the shower area too..

GGuest UserHotel Okura Kyoto was the most pleasant surprise of our entire trip. First off, you can walk directly into the hotel from the subway. After getting off the subway, you enter a shopping mall, and the walk from the mall to the hotel has a very upscale feel to it. The hotel staff were incredibly welcoming; we weren't sure how to get to the lobby for check-in from a shop in the mall, and a staff member from the shop actually escorted us there. Both the lobby and the breakfast area had a very high-end ambiance. We booked a corner king room, which offered direct views of the Kamo River. The mountain scenery was absolutely stunning, and looking out the window felt like gazing at a beautiful painting. The hotel staff, just like in a standard five-star hotel back home, helped us with our luggage, which is quite rare for the five-star hotels we've stayed at a few times in Japan. They also offer a shuttle bus service from Hotel Okura to Kyoto Station. The shuttle drivers were very polite, which was another big plus.

GGuest UserWe took a taxi to this location because it was a little too far by bus, and we had all of our luggage with us. The location is beautiful. If you're only staying for one night like we did, then you should check in at the earliest (3:00 pm) so you can explore the local area. There are some really nice shrines nearby. We were only able to do this after breakfast the next morning. We also had to be out by 10:00 am, which surprised us because it was listed as 11:00 am on Trip.com. You will be served traditional Japanese cuisine for dinner and breakfast. They do an excellent job of presenting all of the dishes, and the service is also incredible. But if you're not used to eating raw fish, or traditional Japanese cuisine in general, you should definitely bring your own snacks to eat in your room! We stayed in the Garden view room with tatami mats. The staff will actually rearrange the room for you during dinner and set up your beds if you select this room. That was a very nice touch, so make sure you don't leave your room a total mess before dinner! I have added a picture of the beds after they were set up. The garden view was well worth the money we spent for it. Very relaxing and beautiful. And surprisingly enough...the tatami beds were super comfortable and warm!

GGuest UserMy wife and I booked the Classic Room for 3 nights in April 2025. We thought this was one of the best hotels we stayed at during our trip. From the moment you enter the hotel, you are welcomed by the hotel staff. You leave your bags with them and you walk up to a separate reception area where you are seated and offered tea and macarons. Check in is conducted while you sip your tea. After you get your keys, you go up to your room and your luggage bags are already there. We were very impressed by the reception. The room itself is fairly sizeable and offers a cabinet of Fauchon snacks. We had a good view of the alley behind the hotel that was lined with Sakura trees. We could also see the mountains in the distance. The location of the hotel is also great. It is located about a 5-10 minutes walk from downtown Kyoto and about a 5 minutes walk to Kiyomizu-gojo station. We also had breakfast which included a free flow selection of bread and pastries like French croissant, baguette and brioche. You also get a fruit plate, salad, and omelette. If you stay for more than 1 night, you also get a premium breakfast menu for your 2nd night onwards. We will definitely return to this hotel the next time we are in Kyoto.

IiamnotdelicateThe basic room type isn't in the main building; you have to walk up to the main building each time to have breakfast or soak in the onsen (hot spring). And it's not a real onsen; my friend's superior room was the real onsen. We were given a small room at the back of the hotel, but thankfully there weren't too many graves. When I asked the staff at the entrance to take photos for me, they were very reluctant and had a sour face. At night, on my way back to my room from my friend's, the receptionist on duty in the lobby was also very rude. Overall, I was dissatisfied with the service. The facilities are excellent, very new, and the hotel is quite small, but that's typical for Japanese hotels. The decor is also very nice; the aesthetics are on point. There are at least three cemeteries and a bunch of shrines nearby; bring some amulets if you like.

GGuest UserThis was a fantastic experience. They have a lovely room with a nice full private bath and all the amenities I needed, including good free wifi. They let me check in early and they were the friendliest staff I've had at a hotel in a while. The big perk is definitely the open bar though. You get unlimited water, orange juice, apple juice, Pepsi zero, and other drinks on tap 24/7, and you also get 1 free hour of happy hour drinks each day between 4-9 PM. It's a massive perk and helped me start my evenings most nights with free wine, vodka, gin, etc. I think that's a huge benefit of this place if you're into that. They also serve great food, ice cream, and other things are available for purchase in the lobby. I would recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Kyoto as it's a nice walk to the river and Nishiki market as well from here.

GGuest UserHighly recommended. 1. The breakfasts are amazing. Looked forward to it every morning during the trip. 2. The room we booked includes 2 beds and 2 futons, I like that combination, suitable for the elderly who may have problems sleeping on the floor. My kids also said the futon is super comfy. 3. The location is very convenient too, within walking distance to many places of interest. 4. If you prefer to have no room service during the stay, you can also opt out of room service, and the hotel will gift you a box of cookies as a replacement for that option. I like that. 5. We booked a Kaiseiki dinner one day in advance during our stay, a bit expensive, but the experience was amazing, and we had the entire restaurant for ourselves for that dinner. But, I won't recommend booking all dinners (with the room) though, there are a lot of good meal options around the area. So definitely should explore more; must try more options in Gion as there are many amazing Japanese places within walking distance. Overall a really good experience. Thank you.

MMateo87The hotel is in a relatively good location, opposite Nijo Castle. It takes about ten minutes to get to the bustling Shijo by taxi. The hotel room is large and well-planned. The hotel washbasin is a bit worn out, but it doesn't affect it. B1 has teppanyaki and French food, and it is a bit disappointing that the bar on the first floor does not have whiskey.
