"We stayed at Miyako and it was very convenient as it was next to Aeon Mall (10 minutes away you can walk to Avanti Mall) and the Kyoto Station (just cross the road)- near exit 6. Can see the JR train from our bedroom window. The room was spacious , bed and pillow was very comfortable. There was also a sofa & small table for us to have meals. Overall a very pleasant stay and will definitely stay again next time we come back Kyoto!"

"Great location, it is convenient to go everywhere in kyoto. I went to Enryaku-ji temple on the Mount Hie on this occasion. We can go by JR from kyoto station to the station Sakamoto, then change to take Salamoto Cable Car. This tour is much more convenient than by bus.
Hope to visit again next time during this summer, because the landscape is so greenery, good for the eyes to enjoy.

"Pretty good location. Just opposite JR kyoto. Cross the road after 3mins you are there. Room is comfy and we had a good rest. Food and shopping choice are all within reach. The yakiniku nearby is tasty and cheap."

"We found ourselves in a tough spot: stranded late at night after multiple hotels turned us away at check-in. In near desperation, we booked this hotel—and it turned out to be an absolute godsend!

"Will definitely not book this hotel again. Service staff were not friendly from the start of my booking till we check in. Booked a room with single bed for 5yr old included but insist is not and to pay extra Sgd70 for 2 nights. Glad Trip.com offered to pay on behalf. Requested both rooms to be nearby to easy take care of children and near lift but was given both rooms 50 rooms apart. This is a L-shaped hotel. Literally one end of each other. Crazy! Both breakfast was horrible, buffet is crowded with long Q and another on the Top is set, one mini bread per pax only and no breakfast for kid. Omg! What type of hotel is this??"

"Amazing experience. Some traditional japanese vibes mixed with westernized traits.
It was our first time visiting a hotel with any resemblance to a traditional japanese hotel - this was a great entry point into this kind of experience.
As is traditional, you are required to leave your shoes in the footlockers by the entrance. You walk around the hotel in socks / barefoot. In some spaces wooden shoes are provided (example: public toilet on the first floor, toilet in the hotel room), everywhere else is socks-only.
The design is very traditionally looking, pleasing to the eyes.
Breakfast offers a combination of japanese and western dishes in a buffet style - so if you want to try some traditional japanese food, but are afraid you won’t like it - you will still have plenty of options (I will add a photo as an example - in reality the list of options is much bigger both in both japanese and western cuisines).
Onsen is great, works a long time (3pm-10am). We went there in the morning / day / evening — all times it was not too crowded, sometimes there were only a couple other people in there. The onsen are separate for men and women, so there is no need to check against any timetable (men hours / women hours, how some other hotels do it) - you can go any time when onsen is open.
Location is great too — multiple subway stations are close, Kyoto Tower is in about 10 minutes of walking. Many restaurants nearby."

"hotel lobby looks really fancy and it is very big. the most basic room size is also big for japan standard (but toilet is quite small and narrow). additional amenities for loan at every level is also a nice touch (iron, microwave, disposable utensils). location is alright, it’s close to a 10 walk from the kyoto station exit (shinkansen exit) and the nearest convenience store (lawson) is closer to kyoto station and not the nearest. overall still a very pleasant stay."

"If you are looking for a good value hotel in Kyoto, with reasonable transit connections, the Mitsu Shijo is a good option. We had a relatively small standard room but managed with 2 people.
Pros: Sento - clean, relaxing and spacious with a nice makeup area.
Buses to different sights nearby.
Breakfast is Japanese and the coffee machine makes good lattes.
Very nice staff
Life groceries nearby provides variety of food and takeaways.
Cons: The hotel is in the centre of the city and while that may seem useful, it’s quite a trip to the major sights and areas.
The local restaurants also should be booked on tabelog to make sure you get in."

"We stayed at Urban Hotel Kyoto Shijo Premium for 1 night. The location of the hotel was closed to Gion district and Nishiki market by bus. There is a bus stop outside the hotel where you can catch a bus to Kyoto station. The room was clean but very small in size as we expected. We stayed in a queen queen, and the bed was comfortable. The room was quiet, and the bathroom was clean . There is a public bath in the hotel, which is free to use, but we didn't manage to use it."

LLyndaThis is not a hotel of three stars. It is a HOSTEL. I stayed here after I extended my stay by a night in Kyoto and everything was full - at least those with reasonable prices. It was a single room with shared bathroom. It was a mixed floor with separate toilets for men and women. The showers were only on the 2nd floor. Hotel/sleeping wear was available for free but I changed the first top as it smelt unwashed. I made my own bed after taking the little table off the raised dias and sliding it under the bed so you need to be active!. There is a mirror with a small ledge under it. No rubbish bin as you are asked to take it out of the room to the communal bins on the floor. The whole place is fairly new and very clean, and location is great. There are a couple of vending and laundry machines along with large canisters of hot water and a microwave. Breakfast is two doors down in the cafe which was ok. It is run by Sotetsu chain but should be classed as a hostel not hotel. You can leave luggage early before checkin or after checkout for a few hours. The staff at reception were helpful but it certainly isn’t a hotel. Most hostel’s have a place to prepare your own food not just a microwave. Not value for money IMHO.

PPui SheungThe hotel is located near the Kyoto Station. The room size is larger than many hotels in Japan. The hotel provide free dessert and drinks after lunch hour, some snacks with beer or wine after 6pm. The breakfast is delicious and had lots of choice. During my stay, the hotel provide materials for making a tatami coaster. It is worth to stay in this hotel. I will choose this again when I come back to Kyoto.

A very clean and spacious room with a distinctive layout that boasts ample living space for a couple or family with small children. The big bathtub and plenty of natural light coming from the large windows were the major highlights of the room.
Location: Prime location. Situated right next to Kyoto Station, it is a 1-minute walk from the hotel to the station.
Staff: All staff members were very hospitable and gave you the best support they could when attending to requests.
Gajamer was amazing! He helped us check-in and was very professional and polite in any possible way.
Meals: We did not select any meal plans for this stay.
Overall experience: A very pleasant stay, with all expectations met as shown in the photos and descriptions. Strongly recommended.

SSvetlanaA huge and comfortable room. Everything is clean and fancy. But it seems like far from Japanese experience. Rooftop bar is awful: very slow service, the food is untasty and very expensive dor such bad experience. Also we left more tips as we supposed to do. I would say it was the worse place to have dinner in Kyoto.
We did not like breakfast with the eggs part. You have to order eggs and than you can additionally choose some food additionally as a buffet. Eggs were with a lot of sauce and mayonnaise. It was strange.
I would recommend to stay here without breakfast and do not try to spend time on the rooftop.

MMickey.P720We are surprising this hotel is above our expectation. This hotel is a walking distance to Kyoto Station and bus station. Surrounding is a mall, restaurant and convenience stores. The entrance is grand and the hotel lobby is nice. The hotel staff is able to speak English fluently. The hotel provided coffee, tea and soft drink free of charge daily. All amenities such as toothbrush, comb, skin care, bath powder are placed in the room. The bed is comfortable come with 4 pillows. One great thing is toilet, shower and basin are separated. This is one of the best hotel that we ever stay in Japan. Definitely we will stay at this hotel again if revisit to Kyoto.

JJasmineThe room is compact, as expected for a typical Japanese hotel, but it’s well-equipped with thoughtful features like a washing machine, microwave, and bathtub. Essentials such as a hairdryer, electric kettle, air purifier/humidifier, air-conditioning, and basic toiletries are all provided. In the lobby, you can help yourself to additional amenities like combs, toothbrushes, razors, cotton buds, and body sponges.
Housekeeping changes towels and clears trash daily, provided you place the designated magnet outside your door. Complimentary coffee, tea, and water are available at the lobby’s self-service corner. From 3–8 PM, there’s a free snack bar and a sake corner. At check-in, we received 12 coin tokens (for three people over five nights), which can be exchanged for sake—non-alcoholic options are available too.
The only downside is a slightly damp, musty smell in the room.
Location-wise, it’s excellent—just a short walk from the train station and close to convenience stores. Note that there’s no complimentary breakfast buffet

GGuest Userhave suttle buses from the kyoto station to the hotel. and I have to say the shuttle bus driver is so welcoming and cheerful.
also convenient to go to sightseeing places by bus( around 5min walk)
but no convenient stores nearby. the closest one will be about 10min walk

TTiejiaxiaomaoThe environment is very good. The hotel opened in 2024. There is a hot spring designed by Kengo Kuma. This is my second stay just for these reasons. The disadvantages are that there is a cemetery next to it, so please choose carefully if you are afraid of it. In addition, the flip-flops are a bit useless and can't be worn at all. If you walk to the hot spring area, it will hurt. I have never encountered the problem of flip-flops being difficult to wear in other Japanese hotels. I hope it can be improved.
