We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights during our first visit to Kyoto. This hotel is very clean with nice accessories and modern Japanese accommodations located in quiet neighborhood away from constant tourist crowds but at the same time in walking distance from the emperor palace and right across from Nijo Castle. It is only 10-15 minutes away on taxi from Gion district and other main tourist attractions that Kyoto can offer. I also would like mention Garrya Nijo Castle Kyoto staff that made us feel very welcomed and specifically to Timothy Hui (front office manager) who went beyond his duties and make special accommodations for us during our visit in Kyoto.

The Okura Okazaki Bettie is a beautifully designed modern hotel and was the perfect choice for our combined business/leisure visit to Kyoto. The location was reasonably close (short taxi ride) to excellent restaurants and sights in the culturally historic area east of the river. The guest room quality, cleanliness and comfort is excellent - finished to a high standard with large windows overlooking the garden below and temples beyond. Breakfast was served in the restaurant overlooking the hotel's own zen garden. The choice of either ”Kyoto”or ”American” breakfast was amazing, beautifully presented bento style, exceptionally fresh, plentiful and delicious. Indeed this was one of the best hotel breakfasts ever. Finally the service level is exceptional. Both management and staff did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable and hassle free. Neither the most nor least expensive option in Kyoto - just simple great value. We look forward to returning next time.

We couldn't have stayed in a more amazing hotel while in Kyoto. From the first moment we stepped in, we were greeted with hospitality. Every staff member we encountered was respectful and extremely helpful. Our room was well appointed and had more amenities than we could use. Not to mention, the private in room onsen. This was the whole reason we chose this hotel and it did not disappoint. The water was refreshing and you could really feel the healing effects. As for the meals that the hotel provides... I must say both the Japanese set and Western set breakfasts were delightful and had many options. The fresh ingredients and the diligence of the dining staff were impeccable. We felt truly valued as guests. It is safe to say that I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes to stay in Kyoto. We most certainly will be back!

The room is really clean, it is very quiet surrounded by residents, the door of each house is uniquely decorated, and there are views everywhere! Because I brought two old people with me, they are not used to Japanese food! I cooked a few meals to let them eat hometown food! The B&B is very convenient to Kiyomizudera Temple. It only takes 3-5 minutes to walk to the station. It takes about 20 minutes to reach Kiyomizudera Temple, Hanamikoji, and other scenic spots! Kyoto is still a place worth staying for a few more days. Personally, I like to travel quietly and slowly. I prefer Kyoto to Tokyo and Osaka!

The Sakuraya・Akagane Kyoto Station Japanese Style Villa is an ideal spot for travelers wanting to discover the city. The Sakuraya・Akagane Kyoto Station Japanese Style Villa offers a pleasant stay in Kyoto for those traveling for business or leisure. Traveling to the hotel is easy with 西大路 located approximately 1km away and Osaka International Airport roughly 42km away. Transportation around the city is also convenient, with Kyoto Metro Station within walking distance. Seeing Kyoto's sights from this hotel is easy with Kyoto Railway Museum, Toji Gojunoto (Five Story Pagoda) and Higashi Hongan-ji Temple all close by. After a long day of sightseeing, guests can retire to the comfort of the hotel. There's never a dull moment at this hotel, our guests indicate that the facilities are excellent.

SShengcherish 2023.11.26
The B&B is very clean. It is located in a residential area. The residents are quite quiet. There is just a bit of noise from passing cars at night. It is a good place to experience a Japanese cabin. It is especially suitable for a family. It is more comfortable than staying in a hotel. It is spacious and has many rooms. It has a living room and takes into account both privacy and privacy. Family interactions. There are kitchen supplies so you can cook your own meals. The nearby 24-hour supermarket is very convenient for buying ingredients and making Japanese hot pot. You can use Uber to call a car to the door of your room. The landlord responded promptly via WeChat and provided detailed information about the surrounding area. It is recommended that there be a small table next to the sink to store cosmetics, or a tabletop mirror to facilitate putting on makeup on the living room table. Slippers are difficult to wear, and it would be better to provide disposable toiletries. Overall it's worth staying, especially for family travel. Some information for other friends who are making reservations: There is a subway station ten minutes away, but the Kyoto subway is not very convenient. The main bus is the main one, but the bus is a bit laborious. Basically, it is simple and straightforward to use Uber. A taxi from Kyoto Station costs about 1,100 yen, Eikan-do Temple is 3,800 yen, Nishi Honganji Temple is 1,600 yen, Tofukuji Temple is 1,300 yen, and Kiyomizu Temple is 3,400 yen.

Location is ideally situated beside the JR Station. We bought the Haruka Express Ticket and went down Kyoto Station. Hotel interior is bigger than most Japanese hotels. Even the rest room is bigger. Breakfast buffet has lots of choices. Super worth it. The Kyoto Tower is right beside the hotel. There are nearby malls also. Hotel staffs are very friendly and accommodating.

▶️Basic information: Checked in between 12.4-12.9, the hotel also provides free breakfast (actually I stayed alone). ▶️Location: Between Gojo and Shichijo on the Keihan Line, across the street is the Kamogawa River, it takes about 20 minutes to walk to Kyoto Station, Kiyomizu Temple and Shijo, and it takes about two bus stops (8-9 minutes to walk to the bus stop). There is also a bus stop nearby that goes directly to other famous attractions such as the Golden Pavilion Temple in Kyoto. There is a 24-hour supermarket in Kiyomizu Gojo, a 7-minute walk away, where you can buy vegetables and cook. ▶️Room facilities: It is equivalent to a small apartment, and because it is newly installed, it is very new and advanced. There is a washing machine (including detergent, and the bathroom has a drying function. After washing clothes at night, you can dry them directly and wear them the next morning), a large upper and lower refrigerator with freezing function, a microwave oven, a kitchen (including a full set of tableware and detergent), a dining table, a duplex bed (with a charging port and a light at the head of the bed, which is very convenient), and a walk-in closet (with an ironing machine and many hangers). The bathroom, washbasin and toilet are separated, and the dry and wet areas are separated. The bathtub is fully automatically drained and kept warm. The toiletries are Pola. I am on the first floor. There is a small space outside the French window, so I can go out for a walk and breathe. Living here can easily give people the illusion that I am staying in Kyoto for a short time, but it is not as inconvenient as the B&B cannot store luggage and the cleaning standards cannot be guaranteed. ▶️Hotel facilities: Breakfast from 6:30 to 10:00 in the morning, coffee, juice, carbonated water and other beverages from 3:00 to 23:00 in the afternoon. The hotel also has free bicycles (renting bicycles in Kyoto also starts at a few hundred yen, saving money immediately and not having to find a place to return the bicycle). Just go to the front desk staff to get the key. It takes 3 minutes to ride from the hotel to Kamogawa. It is strongly recommended to ride to Deyanagi-cho and then go back and forth. It takes about two hours to walk and play. There is an open-air bar on the top floor of the hotel, where you can sit and overlook Kamogawa and Kyoto Tower, which is convenient for watching the sunrise and sunset. At present, most of the guests staying are from Europe and the United States, so the hotel staff speaks very good English and can communicate smoothly. I also watched Netflix on the hotel's TV (need to log in to your account), the effect was good, I highly recommend it to people who are going to stay in Kyoto for more than 3 days, so that they can appreciate the good of the hotel.

Hotel was super nice! I loved almost everything. The room was very big for Japanese standards and the staff was very professional and fluent in English. Location couldn’t be better, right next to Kyoto Station and a lot of options for shopping and dining. The only thing that was disappointing was the breakfast. They divide it in a western and japanese breakfast. But the western breakfast didn’t really have much western choices. And the coffee was not good. This could be improved. Otherwise it was a perfect stay and I would recommend it. :-)

Our stay at Good Nature Hotel Kyoto was truly memorable! The location is ideal, just a short walk from the train station, making it incredibly convenient. The service was outstanding—front desk staff even helped us make a dinner reservation since we don’t speak Japanese. We were also impressed by the thoughtful touches, like the tiny indoor shoes they provided for our baby. The hotel’s shower gel, shampoo, and handwash were lovely—natural and refreshing. We loved them so much that we bought some from their grocery store to bring back home! The warm and eco-conscious atmosphere, combined with excellent service, made our stay perfect. Highly recommended for travelers seeking comfort, convenience, and a touch of nature.

GGuest UserI like Thailand and visited to experience the atmosphere of Thailand. Since I live in Kyoto, I will only have an impression of the spa plan with a pool and the lounge. We were greeted with a wonderful smile from the entrance, and the service and facilities were excellent with luxury class quality. The spa massage was great with both body fatigue and head fatigue relaxed. The cocktail in the lobby lounge was the best in my life. I heard that Thai food is delicious, so I would like to visit again.

GGuest UserIn early July, I stayed with my grandson (1 years old 3 months) and 5 people with my family, and in late August I stayed with my husband and wife 2 people. In mid August, I booked for 5 people again. Potel is located next to the Kyoto Aquarium, 13 hectares of umekoji Park on the south side, and Jr Shinkansen, limited Express, new rapid trains, and trains stop at each station run south of the park. The old Kyoto City trams run south and west of the hotel, and the west is Royal Park Hotel, Starbucks, Family Mart, Jr umekoji Kyoto Nishi station and Kyoto Railway Museum. There is a parking lot, a front entrance, and a public bath potato hot water in the separate building. The hotel is a large hall (between the children), and adults can enjoy beer, wine and coffee from 15 o'clock by self service. The potel, which is completely different from the hotel until now, is very clean and feels very good. [Rooms] We used the southwest corner twin with a balcony where the park can be seen. From the top of the hotel, the room is lined up on the left and right sides of the corridor from the 2 floor to the 5 floor in the L-shaped building. The west and south rooms have balconies. Since the window is from the floor to the ceiling, there is an open feeling and the room is bright. Cleaning is well done to the net door, window glass and bathroom drain. I am happy to stay for a consecutive night because the storage space of clothes is large. The thick mattress of the baby bed is kind to the child. [Security] Use the elevator with the card key and open the automatic door of the passage. 【Joint Bathroom Potato Yu】 The large and small Yufune is overflowing, so it has a feeling of cleanliness. You can enjoy dry sauna. Milk soap and towels are brought from the room. 【Breakfast】 Japanese style dishes are lined up in buffet style. Let's start eating at 7 when the store opens because it is crowded. [Awaima] There is a large space where parents and children can play and relax by taking off their shoes. You can go up and down the central stairs from 2 floor to 4 floor. [Laundry room] There is a coin type washing dryer on the 5 floor. [Rooftop] You can see Kyoto Tower, the five-story tower of Toji Temple, and the JR Shinkansen.

GGuest UserGreat hotel and staff! The experience of staying in a traditional Japanese hotel was worth the price. The hotel was very tranquil, we never felt rushed and the staff was superb. A special thank you to Ms. Maumi Hosoo for helping with the bus reservation to the Osaka airport. She went out of her way to print out a picture of where we pick up the tickets and where we board the bus. In this day and age, it is rare you encounter such fantastic service. The rest of the front desk staff was equally helpful. They made dinner reservations and called cabs as requested. They would explain to the taxi driver exactly where we were to be dropped off. The breakfast was excellent as well. We had traditional Japanese breakfast the first two days and then a more western style breakfast. Both types were superb. Was happy we stayed at this hotel.

TTraveler59599363931My wife’s birthday trip at the Suiran was a dream come true. With successive Covid cancellations, it took us four years of planning, but it was worth the wait. With their traditional Japanese structures and landscaping, the Suiran was our oasis of calm during Kyoto’s busiest season (cherry blossoms). We enjoyed a wonderful dinner and the best breakfasts of our lives in their dining room, and blissful riverside happy hours in their cafe. Our comfortable room had all the amenities, and a soothing minimalist aesthetic. The Suiran staff is spectacular: thoughtful, gracious, attentive. Through our years of planning and days of enjoyment, we were guided by Suiran’s chief concierge, Hiromi Maruyama. Her kindness, patience, and expertise added greatly to the success of our time in Kyoto. Her suggestions and insights, and good spirits were a beacon shining our way. We are indebted to her for her efforts on our behalf.

GGuest UserI had a terrific four night stay at the Ace in Kyoto. The building design is stunning and set the vibe for the entire stay. The front desk staff were so friendly and so helpful with my many questions and requests. The room was spacious and well stocked with whatever you needed. The soaking tub was the prefect way to recover after a day running around Kyoto. I'm vegan, and the restaurants made sure I had plenty of delicious food to eat. The hotel centrally located within Kyoto, and right above a mall that had some great shopping. I recommend the Ace and look forward to returning.

GGuest UserWe had an excellent stay at this Machiya (traditional Kyoto townhouse) for 3 days. We only did in-room dining one night, but that was also excellent. The check-in process is a little strange, as you will receive communication from the company that's a little dense and will not interact directly with the staff unless you choose to. We had to scan and send our passport photos and fill out a registration card, but that was it. The property is small by European/American standards in the sense that you will need to be careful to avoid damaging (including possibly your own head) things during your stay due to height and luggage weight. There's slippers provided to switch from your walking shoes to walking inside the property and there is an excellent bathtub and washroom with washer. My two cautions - this firm has English speaking employees available during business hours (and an emergency line) but it is geared primarily towards the Japan renter. Be prepared to know Japanese or be willing to take the time to translate certain things via your cell phone/app of your choice to understand how to work the various appliances. As an older building, learning the heating/cooling. The second caution, as an older building sound is an issue. You will hear the street and need to control your volume in order to be a polite guest. If this isn't something you're looking to do, then just throw the money at a more modern hotel experience. We liked it - not everyone will.

GGuest UserI used double - m for one person, but when I entered the room one step, I thought, ”Is it not so large?” In fact, when I was arranging my luggage in the room and moving color 々, I realized that if I was alone, I would take a room that was quite easy to use. I didn't eat at night for one night, but all other places such as lounge and receptionist have a luxury feeling and luxury feeling, but I feel at home somewhere I felt it was a lodging facility to say ”I travel to live”.

LLynn AvieWe stayed here for 3 nights and it was quite an enriching experience having to sleep on a Japanese style bed. Initially we were stunned by the mattresses and set up as we forgot that we booked the Japanese beds, but it exceeded our expectations as we slept pretty well on it. The blanket was HEAVENLY & FLUFFY - an absolute joy. Definitely a thing I missed when I returned home. The toilets were decent and the showerhead water flow was good. Service wise - the rooms were cleaned daily and they did help keep the mattresses during the day. We also paid to have a 40mins private onsen experience for about 500 yen. Pretty alright, esp if you would enjoy some privacy. Do reserve beforehand with the front desk. Additionally, the staff were able to converse in many languages & were always very helpful! :) Location wise - it's pretty convenient & accessible. We were surrounded by lots of cafes & shops that we can explore just by walking around the neighbourhood. Many temples & tourist spots were within walking distance too. The only irk we had was the noise and soundproofing as we could hear people outside & whenever they walked around or by the stairs. Sometimes, the roadside can be noisy too.. so it did affect our sleep sometimes. But regardless of that, it's a pretty decent spot to crash when you're in Kyoto! Do give them a try!

GGuest UserThe hotel management let us down in the last 15 minutes before we left although everything was good before then. We checked out 15 minutes earlier at around 9.45 in the morning and loaded our luggage to our car at the hotel parking space. Just walked away, a man rushed to us and yelled at us without showing his identity: ‘Did you park your car there? You must go now!’ We said that we were the hotel guest and asked who he was. Reluctantly but still not showing his name badge, he said that he was the hotel manager (what a hotel manager!) and insisted we must drive away immediately. Very unset to a hotel guest who was allowed by its staff to park their car the night before to be greeted by a manager like that, right? Going back to the hotel front desk to settle the trouble, the man remained arrogant, did not apologize and just kept saying ‘you CANNOT park the car’ without mentioning why we COULD in fact park our car there overnight. (Why it was permitted by front desk staff? Why was there no sign and no block there? Why no one called to our room and explained if it was a breach of hotel regulation?) When we said as a hotel guest we should still have the right to park the car before checkout time which was 10.00 am, the man seemed not figuring out what our argument was and, most ridiculously, as a hotel manager to greet guests all over the world, he did not know what the words ‘courtesy’ and ‘polite’ mean. Fortunately we just stayed at Chisun Premium Kujo for one night in our 7-day trip in Kyoto. It was a totally different experience when we stayed at 俵屋旅館and Gate Hotel the following days, which was an authentic Kyoto experience to a frequent Kyoto traveller like us. As management in our own company, we reassure that, from Chisun’s experience, training to manager is much more important than to junior staff. Very often it is the management, not frontline staff, who irritates customers and ruins the company’s reputation. We had the man’s business card at last but are not going to show here. Hope the hotel management can train their staff professionally in the future.

VVictorWas recommended to this by a friend. The room is really spacious. The living room comes with a sofa and a smart TV that you can screencast if you know how. There is a clothes rack and my room is next to the laundry room. Yes, you can do your washing and drying there. I did that on my third day there. There is also a balcony where you can hang your clothes out to dry. The access is secured by a reinforced glass slider, while the balcony is also secured by grills, giving one a good sense of security. The toilet comes with a tub, and a ventilator to prevent mould and mildew. There is a mini kitchen with a fridge, microwave, electric kettle and an induction top. There are bowls and pots too for light cooking if you like. Lets not forget, that they also provide umbrellas for guests use too! The amenities provided meets my needs. The location is not exactly the best however. Quite a bit of walking is required from Kyoto station, and/or from the bus stop from Kyoto Aquarium. But there are a few vending machines in the immediate vicinity and a mini stop convenience store just over at the Kyoto Aquarium there. But still acceptable given the room size and amenities. Overall a pleasant stay. Didnt manage to take the photos of the room. Just refer to the ones by the hotel. They painted quite an accurate picture.
