Luxury Hotels in Datong

"I was drawn by the hotel's design and made a special trip to check it out. I booked the 'Elegant Residence Package' and was upgraded to the 'Daijunyi Courtyard' upon check-in. The courtyard was rustic and quiet, with a mini garden, and the interior decor was understated yet elegant. VOSS water was supplied unlimited daily, and I really liked the complimentary amenity kit. Welcome fruits were delivered to the room at 2 PM, and the fruit and nuts varied each day, which was a nice touch and added a sense of surprise. Turndown service was around 6 or 7 PM. At 4 PM, I had afternoon tea at the Yingguang Restaurant. It was a semi-buffet with an à la carte option. The champagne and tea were excellent, and refills were unlimited. The small cakes were a bit bland, and I didn't try the main courses. Afterwards, I went to Phase 1 for a photoshoot. Phase 2 isn't far from Phase 1, but the butler still recommended taking the shuttle. The photographer was very familiar with the best spots and even gave a brief introduction to the hotel. The public areas are indeed beautiful and very well-designed, especially in Phase 1, which offers many picturesque angles and is great for photos. The lounge on the second floor offers views of the Datong ancient city wall. The gym, pool, and children's play area are all in Phase 1. The children's play area offers three craft options before 5 PM. The gym and pool aren't very large, but they're great for photos. Phase 2 consists of independent courtyards, with only one public courtyard and the Yingguang Restaurant, but it's also very photogenic. Phase 2 is relatively quieter and all the buildings are historical. It's definitely worth visiting if you like the Siheyuan (quadrangle courtyard) style. The much-anticipated breakfast was also a semi-buffet with à la carte options, and I couldn't resist ordering a whole table of dishes. I highly recommend the 'Dao Xiao Mian' (knife-sliced noodles) and the steak. Although the steak portion was small, it was delicious. The selection of dishes wasn't extensive, but they all tasted good, and the quality of the fruit and ingredients was excellent. The butler team was incredibly friendly and enthusiastic, providing thoughtful and attentive service. Every staff member was outstanding. After check-out, they even gave us a souvenir. As my luggage was heavy, they specially arranged a shuttle to take me to Fenglin Pavilion, and the driver even helped load my luggage into the car. Such attentive service made me feel respected and comfortable throughout the entire process, making the price itself seem less important."

"Seriously, this is how a five-star hotel should be! The bed was so soft I didn't want to leave, and the service was so thoughtful it really touched me. The soundproofing was absolutely top-notch, I slept until noon undisturbed. Breakfast was incredibly filling, and the value for money was outstanding. This is hands down the most comfortable hotel I've ever stayed in while traveling; from check-in to check-out, the entire experience was delightful. I've already recommended it to all my friends."

"The hotel boasts an excellent location, close to the ancient city, with views of its night scenery from the rooms. There's ample parking, making it very convenient for those traveling by car. Plenty of dining options are nearby, perfect for exploring and eating. Both the front desk and room service were spot-on; they delivered a fruit platter daily and thoughtfully provided pear soup and a souvenir. The room was spacious, clean, and well-stocked with mineral water. Breakfast offered a good variety, with the knife-cut noodles and lamb offal soup being particularly delicious. It's a hotel with great value for money!"

"The room type is excellent with a spacious view. The room itself is large, and the bathroom has a separate shower area, which is great for families or multiple guests, saving time. The service is prompt and attentive, and housekeeping is also very timely. Food delivery is convenient. It's close to all the attractions. The breakfast is rich and varied, and they even have specialty 'dao xiao mian' (knife-cut noodles)."

"This is my second time in Datong, and my second stay at your hotel. There are some things I just have to get off my chest! Unlike my pleasant first stay back then, this time was far from perfect, even terrible. I'm writing about this stay not to point fingers, but as the genuine feelings of a southern tourist who loves Shanxi and has visited four times. I also hope your hotel can continue to improve! For various reasons, my trip was divided into three segments, and I'll review them separately. Segment 3 (4th, 5th): Very bad. On the 4th, there were no welcome fruits. On the 5th, not only were there no fruits, but the most basic bath towels and hand towels weren't even provided! I've stayed in so many hotels, whether they cost 100 or 1000, and this is the first time a cleaned room was missing so many towels!! After contacting the front desk, the floor attendant knocked on my door, and the first thing she said was, ”What do you need?” It was clear that the service was lacking, and essential room items were missing, yet it felt like I was making an extra request. My personal understanding is that shouldn't they first check what's missing from the room, then ask the guest and promptly replenish the items, and finally offer an apology? After the attendant grudgingly replenished the items, she didn't even express an apology! Your hotel is an old and established one in Datong. Although the hardware is a bit dated, the foundation is still good. I suggest strengthening service management to provide more professional service to guests working or traveling in Datong! Also, please replace the TV; it's not even bigger than a computer monitor!!!"

"The hotel's location and facilities are indeed excellent, but the service and hygiene management haven't kept up. My child and I had a decent stay on the first night, so I decided to extend our stay for two more nights directly at the hotel. Since it was a last-minute extension, our original room was already booked, and the front desk recommended we switch to another family-friendly room. Unexpectedly, that very night we discovered multiple bugs in the bed, including stink bugs. At first, I considered it might be a fluke caused by an open window, and since it was very late after a day out and I didn't want to bother my child anymore, I didn't ask to change rooms. However, when we woke up the next day, there were over a dozen bugs in the bed, and some even left bloodstains after being squashed. I specifically asked hotel staff to come and inspect the room. Family rooms are supposed to provide a worry-free stay for families with children, so this level of hygiene is truly disappointing. I hope the hotel takes room cleanliness, pest control, and pre-check-in inspections seriously, so that the service truly matches the hotel's location and facilities."

"The room was very comfortable. Service: The room service was excellent. An auntie surnamed Cui and a young man (sorry, I forgot to check his name) who I believe are in charge of the executive floor, were very quick to respond. Late-night porridge: A bowl of millet porridge late at night is incredibly comforting for the stomach."

"Location: The location is excellent, right in Datong Ancient City. The hotel is directly across from Huayan Temple and Huayan Temple Square. It's also very close to many famous Datong restaurants like Zini 369, Longjuxiang, Beiwei Jiayan, and Xijindao, all within walking distance, which is incredibly convenient. Service: It's understandable that hotel prices increase during peak tourist season, but the service should also keep up. Before check-in, a hotel staff member called to ask about any special requests. I mentioned I had a child and needed children's amenities prepared in advance. However, upon arriving at the room, I found none were provided. I called the front desk to request them, but waited a very long time without anything being delivered. My family eventually stopped a cleaner in the hallway to get them. On the second day of our stay, the bathroom wasn't even cleaned – the trash was still in the bin, and the tissues hadn't been replaced. There was no staff outside to assist with luggage. On a positive note, my child lost a tooth and got some blood on the duvet, and the cleaning staff promptly replaced it, which was great. Breakfast: The restaurant isn't large, and there weren't many diners, which made for a comfortable experience. They offered freshly cooked items like lamb offal soup and knife-cut noodles. The variety of dishes wasn't extensive, but it was decent. Overall, there's still room for improvement regarding the details."

"We came to Datong for a family trip and chose Dongxin Chengji Hotel. Overall, we were very satisfied. The room was more spacious than expected; the two beds were plenty big, and our child didn't feel cramped at all. The bathroom has a separate wet and dry area, so there was no morning rush or queuing to wash up. The front desk staff was very sweet and welcoming. The soundproofing was great at night, allowing our kid to sleep soundly and wake up fully energized—we didn't miss a beat exploring the Ancient City the next day! Getting around is also very convenient, with plenty of dining options nearby and cabs easy to catch right outside. We’ll definitely consider staying here again on our next visit to Datong."

"The hotel staff called in advance to ask about my needs, and even brought complimentary desserts and fruit. The room and bathroom were very clean. The location is super convenient; a ride-hailing service to Datong Ancient City costs only 13 yuan and takes less than ten minutes. There are also large shopping malls nearby, so finding places to eat isn't a problem. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Datong!"
