GGuest UserThe independent courtyard is located right within the ancient city. The owner has excellent taste, and the decor style is very design-oriented. You can drive directly into the underground parking right at the guesthouse entrance, which is very convenient. The facilities are very new, and the design is unique. All the toiletries and consumables are from good brands, feeling very high-quality. The common areas are also really nice, perfect for tea and conversation. The cleanliness is excellent; everything is checked very thoroughly each time. The service from the owner is superb – very friendly and warm. They were attentive to all our needs, offering pick-up and drop-off service, and were always ready to help. Overall, it's a fantastic choice within the ancient city. I made a last-minute booking the same day and managed to snag a room. Even though it was the smallest room type, I was quite satisfied with my stay. I'll definitely come back next time.

GGuest UserA relaxing, slow-paced trip! The room was spacious and cozy. The front desk ladies were enthusiastic, lively, beautiful, and thoughtful fairies. It was also very convenient for late-night snacks and ordering takeout – the delivery driver provided excellent and thorough service. I'm looking forward to my next stay! The laundry and drying facilities were very convenient. It's right across from Daiwang Mansion, so after exploring from the South Gate, it was super easy to head back for a good night's sleep.

SSB888The hotel is located close to a lively area, making it very convenient to explore nearby shops and restaurants. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. They kindly picked us up at the railway station and helped us arrange a car rental to visit Xuankong Temple, Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, and the Yungang Grottoes. The breakfast was also delicious and a great way to start the day. Their hospitality and assistance made our trip much easier and more enjoyable.

AAnonymous Uservery friendly and helpful staffs. they will ask for adding friend on Wechat which they could provide very useful tips during your stay in a hotel and travel advice around datong. you can ask for exchange small banknote for hopping on a local bus which is troublesome for foreigner that doesn't have chinese phone number to register for virtual bus card （易通卡）on alipay or wechat unlike in big city eg. Shanghai, Guangzhou that can use passport no. to register. It would be nice if they provide some bathmat to rub wet feet after using the bathroom. The hotel is located near the bell tower which is near Huayan temple and Dai wang mansion.

Guandi Temple's entrance is literally on your doorstep, and during the Spring Festival, performances are held on its east side. This makes exploring and dining out incredibly convenient. The independent courtyard offers a beautiful and tranquil environment, complemented by attentive and warm service. With breakfast included, I highly recommend this place for your stay.

BBianca LaiThe staff were so so friendly and super nice!!! Told them it was our honeymoon and there was a handwritten note with fruits and snacks waiting for us on the table. They didn't have to, but they did ☺️ when we left, we were rushing for the train and didn't have time to eat breakfast. The staff were so concerned we were skipping breakfast she quickly packed some food for us to go and even ran after us to pass us cutlery because she forgot to pack some. Would recommend staying here 10/10!

MMethilanI spent nearly a week at Datong Milan/Magnolia Hotel (Dai Residence branch) and it was a very pleasant and enjoyable stay Location: - Nestled a quieter part of the ancient city, that provided a peaceful retreat after each day of exploring. - 10 minutes to some of the attractions of the old town - 15-20 minute walk to the popular restaurants and more attractions - 30 minute walk to Huayan Temple and its nearby street markets. I'm always happy to walk but if needed, I could always use DiDi to take me around. Falling asleep without street noise is something I like. There is a bit of building work going nearby, which is happening all over Datong Ancient City, but nothing too major. Nearby is the Ancient City's wall, but walk past that and you can see the locals dance in the morning in the park or walk along the canal/moat in the evening. Room: The room was surprisingly spacious, offering plenty of room to spread out and relax, a welcome change from cramped city accommodations. The staircase is a bit narrow, so those with lots of big luggage might struggle (no lift) Importantly, it was very clean and well equipped. I especially liked the Chinese tea ceremony set! Service: - Despite a noticeable language barrier, everyone went above and beyond with smiles, helpful gestures, and clear efforts to communicate. - Especially the manager, who told me about local food to try, things to do and asked if I needed anything. She noticed that I was bringing back leftovers from the restaurant, and bottled drinks from the shops, and said I could use the fridge. - I can't speak Chinese so when the delivery driver came to drop off my order, the staff will take it from the reception and bring it to me. - Unfortunately, breakfast isn't available here - Drinking water topped up. Humidifier and mosquito repellent were provided when needed. I will not hesitate to book here again on my next visit and I highly recommend this hotel for anyone seeking comfort and genuine warmth in Datong!

JJames56We had a happy experience checking in at this hotel. The receptionist was very pleasant and helpful. We loved our room! It was bright and cheerful and spacious. The shower and drainage was very good. Location is fantastic, near the railway station and many bus services, especially for going to Yungang grottoes. There was a mall, with a hypermarket in the basement and minimarts around. What we like most was there was a washing machine and dryer for guests to use, free of charge! If we ever come to Datong again, we would stay here. Highly recommend this place!

AALY2018The room is not in and out as shown in the picture; there are many restaurants nearby, not far from Mingtang. Very clean, the projection is easy to use, the most important thing is that the service is in place! I left in a hurry today and forgot to take pictures. I left my ID card in the room. The sister at the front desk was very good and went to the room to help me find it as soon as possible. Thank you very much. Occasionally, the young lady will reply after working hours at night, and I will definitely book this one next time!
