Newly opened hotel, clean, modern and comfortable. The bathtub in the room is super good. Because it is not in the bathroom, you can take a bath while watching TV. The free self-service lockers next to the lobby are also very convenient. There is also a coffee machine in the lobby. When I first arrived and when I left We all had two drinks, it was very heart-warming. I have two small suggestions: 1. Is it possible to add an armrest next to the bathtub to make it easier for older people to sit up? 2. Should the small table in front of the projection screen be a desk? Excellent. Done in the traditional hotel style but with very modern in-room amenities. Bathroom is clean and private, with nice shower including good quality—free flow—shampoo and bodywash, clean toilet and a proper door (no glass bathrooms here!). It’s so hard to find a hotel room like this these days. Most importantly, all the staff were totally amazing, and the manager is so friendly and keen to help and can speak some English which makes things all the easier. There are quite a few shaokao and noodle places around the hotel, and importantly, the snowman drink place (蜜雪冰城) is not too far away! The hotel is just a couple of Ks south of the most popular entrance to the amazing ancient wall (大同古城), and in the other direction, about five hundred metres to another nice park called Mingtan Park where I flew my new drone for the first time ever while a local man practiced perfectly his Taoist meditation completely undeterred by the annoying whirring sound of the drone! My only regret is not planning more than a single night here. There’s so much more to Datong than just the Yungang Grottoes and the Hengshan Hanging Temple (though they are both totally spectacular!), so stay a couple of nights at least if you can.

As this was my first time traveling alone, choosing a hotel was a difficult problem, but staying at Dadan Hotel dispelled my previous concerns. When we arrived we were given the wrong room in B tower with single beds, we had to go back downstairs and show the booking again to request the correct double room in A tower. The rooms and amenities are old, and the fridge is broken. I called reception who told me to bring any items I want to cool down to the reception and use their fridge, when I asked if we can swap the broken fridge for a working fridge, they said all of the fridges are like this. They won't admit the fridges are all broken, but all of the fridges in the hotel are warm and won't make your food / beverages cold. The hotel is in dire need of an upgrade, and they need to replace the fridges.

The hotel was very beautiful, and the family room was excellent. The beds we comfortable, and the room was very well equipped with all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. The hotel was very nicely decorated to match the atmosphere of the ancient city.
I would like to especially give commendations to Ms 任红霞 and Mr 付强. Both of them provided exceptionally good service during our stay and made sure that all our questions and needs were fulfilled. They are exceptional staff of the hotel and I hope the hotel management rewards them for their hard work.
Highly recommend this hotel to anybody who is looking for accommodation in Datong ancient city.

GGuest UserI went on a spontaneous trip with my friends. I chose this homestay because I was attracted by the decoration style of the villa. I stayed here for 4 days and 3 nights. I have to say that it was really comfortable. The staff was enthusiastic, the service was in place, the station was picked up, there were fruit snacks every day, and delicious Tremella pear soup was delivered after the trip. All kinds of bottled water and drinks were free to drink. The breakfast provided was also very fresh, and you can arrange the time for the dishes in advance. The facilities here are complete, Dyson hair dryer, mousse bedding, projection TV, L'Occitane toiletries, which are very classy. The most important thing is that this is the Wulongxiang Villa District, the environment is good, it is really quiet, and I rested well at night after a day of play. The location here is not far from the attractions in the ancient city, and you can get there by strolling. Finally, I would like to thank the beautiful girl Xiao Zhang for picking us up and taking on multiple duties. Whenever I see her, she is either cleaning the room, cleaning the yard, watering the flowers, and wiping the tables and chairs in the yard several times a day. She is really hardworking and very attentive when I ask her for help. Datong, we will come again and choose to stay here again!

First of all, our deepest gratitude to Yang wen yuan - 杨文元.
When booking from Europe, we did not realise correctly the time required to get to the caves and to the hanging monastery (a must view when in Datong).
We thought that by using public transport we could manage to do both in a short period of time. So wrong!
We arrived and Yang wen yuan - 杨文元 reassured us and in less than 30 minutes he was able to help and book for us a private car for the next day. He made our stay unforgettable. Thanks a lot from both of us if you are reading !
Plus, this hotel is wonderful : super new, technological and the staff is super kind (from the ones in the lobby to the ones in the restaurant/cafeteria). Breakfast is amazing. You can have everything, freshly made for you.

Very clean, very modern. Lovely rooms and great staff. Excellent customer service. But, the wifi was terrible, only 10mb and this impacted a number of planned meetings. Coffee machine at breakfast didn’t work well and breakfast buffet was a bit crowded. Ithink wifi struggled because hotel was full of customers. Mostly tour groups.
As long as you don’t need wifi this is a great hotel

Bed was very comfortable and staff were generally helpful altho a couple of the reception staff were quite brusque, also they spoke really fast in an accent I couldn't always understand. I think they should be more mindful of visitors from abroad. The most helpful and courteous member of staff was the bellhop.
The hotel claims to be non-smoking which is a joke cuz my room reeked of cigarette smoke and I told the staff so when she brought me there but she just said oh they've already turned down the room. Since I stayed for only 1 night, I didn't make a fuss. But non-smoking rooms are generally a joke in China, there is no enforcement and smokers have no consideration for others. Non-smokers in this country have no rights.
