Datong Hotels with Gym

Wenda and all of her colleagues were wonderful! English is spoken here. Fantastic service, friendly, helpful, very clean and spacious rooms, really nice view over the river and at night with all of the lights. Breakfast is good, the facilities are clean and presentable. The room was quiet and the window can be opened if you want fresh air or to cool down the room a bit, the ac works too to cool it down in winter but that’s recirculated air with some people smoking in non-smoking rooms (typical). Our room did not smell which was great and although we had neighbours we could not hear them, so good for light sleepers. Only downside is the bed is firm. Quick 10 minute didi to the ancient city, malls, delicious lunch and food places. The hotel organised a driver to take us to the hanging temple, yungang grottoes and then to a delicious local restaurant very affordable, helpful, reliable and kind driver (WeChat: 永恒). Also recommend going to the art gallery and museum only 10 mins away. It’s a good location.

Spacious room, clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were more than adequate with a choice of varieties. Hotel location was ok just outside the wall though neighbouring shops were all shuttered. Taxis plentiful and inexpensive. Nightly dinner was at the hotel restaurant - good food, surprisingly very affordable prices and extremely good services from the staff. What stood out most were the very helpful, cheerful staff, at the front desk, restaurants, and cleaners!

Excellent. Done in the traditional hotel style but with very modern in-room amenities. Bathroom is clean and private, with nice shower including good quality—free flow—shampoo and bodywash, clean toilet and a proper door (no glass bathrooms here!). It’s so hard to find a hotel room like this these days. Most importantly, all the staff were totally amazing, and the manager is so friendly and keen to help and can speak some English which makes things all the easier. There are quite a few shaokao and noodle places around the hotel, and importantly, the snowman drink place (蜜雪冰城) is not too far away! The hotel is just a couple of Ks south of the most popular entrance to the amazing ancient wall (大同古城), and in the other direction, about five hundred metres to another nice park called Mingtan Park where I flew my new drone for the first time ever while a local man practiced perfectly his Taoist meditation completely undeterred by the annoying whirring sound of the drone! My only regret is not planning more than a single night here. There’s so much more to Datong than just the Yungang Grottoes and the Hengshan Hanging Temple (though they are both totally spectacular!), so stay a couple of nights at least if you can.

Very close to the Datong South station, about 5 min by car. Spacious rooms, bathrobes provided, excellent tea (proper tea, no teabags!) inside the room. We stayed for 2 days. Easy ride to the ancient city of Datong, about 15-20 min, I think. The only inconvenience was that the heating is on all the time, i had to keep the window openn throughout the night. And the reception is not 24/7 as advertised. When we tried to check out at 6:30 am to go to the Hanging Monastery, there was noone. We called them afyerwards, and everything was sorted though, they even let us come back and leave our bags till the evening when we had spare time before the train.

Very good old style hotel in a very beautiful building with nice gardens and fountains in front of it. It is located outside the city walls, but with very easy and quick (10 min) access to it by bus or taxi. It is at walking distance to VoVo Park, a reasonably good shopping mall with very good food options. The room was quite spacious and comfortable, clean and well equipped. Staff is very nice and helpful.

The hotel is situated not far from the old walled town and equal distance to the shopping area. Formerly a Holiday Inn now independent. The rooms are large and comfortable with good work desk and wifi. Comfortable bed gives good rest. The fridge had been removed but there is kettle and plenty of water, every day some fruit was delivered to the room which I appreciated. Hotel has gym, swimming pool and two restaurant, given the price it was very good value for money and I would happily stay again.

I chose this hotel because it is just a twenty minute walk north of Datong South Station. It is right next to Fantawild amusement park, so is a good choice for families (Most of the guests were families with young kids). Everything inside the hotel is brand new. One of the hosts at reception was exceptional, and she not only offered wonderful device and care to me but also to every guest I saw her interacting with (I didn't learn her name, alas). One interesting note: I stayed there on a Friday and Saturday night, and there was a firework show on both evenings in Fanatwild next door. The booming sound startled me at first, but I quickly realized what it was.

I stayed one night at the hotel. I was visiting Datong. I arrived early and asked front desk if I could leave my suitcase whilst I did some sightseeing. The front desk staff told me I could check into my room. The young lady who assisted me spoke some English. She also helped me with booking tickets to visit the Yungang Grottes. My room rate included breakfast which had a wide choice of items. The room I had (1212) was spotlessly clean and had a view towards the old walls. I would highly recommend this hotel for a tourist visit.

This is a new hotel, neat and clean. The hotel has complete facilities and a rich breakfast variety. The room is clean and hygienic, with wet and dry areas separated. The light distribution in the room is bright and even, especially the mattress and bedding are very comfortable. The water pressure in the bath is very high, and the shower is very refreshing. Manager Wang at the front desk and sales assistant Ren took the initiative and enthusiastically helped me solve problems such as booking a room. The housekeeping aunt's service was polite and standard. Thumbs up for them! The hotel has a free underground parking lot, which is not on the same street as the hotel's main entrance. Just navigate to the ”Jianguo Puyin Datong High Speed ​​Railway Station Wanda Plaza Store Underground Parking Lot Entrance and Exit”. All in all, my experience in staying at this hotel was very good and cost-effective. It is worth recommending.

It gives Datong a good impression. There are many types of breakfast and good taste. The only slight flaw is that the restaurant makes noodles. The young man with sheep powder will be better if he speaks softer. Overall, this store is very good, and the TV is better if it can cast screens. There will be a chance to come again in the future!
