GGuest UserLocated right in the heart of the ancient city, this hotel is a tranquil retreat away from the hustle and bustle. The room was spotless and exceptionally well-appointed, featuring premium toiletries, an electric toothbrush, a Dyson hairdryer, and even a smart toilet. The entire courtyard is incredibly charming, offering a true taste of traditional Shanxi architecture. Breakfast in the courtyard was a highlight, and even when it poured rain on the second morning, we enjoyed a unique experience having breakfast under an umbrella. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and approachable; we could even communicate with them easily via WeChat.
My only minor point of feedback is that the duvet felt a bit too thick for summer; we were still quite warm and sweating even with the air conditioning on. However, this might just be a personal preference. Overall, this place is absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Datong who's looking for a unique and memorable accommodation experience.

CChunfengfumiandouzhuomaoEnvironment: I was originally going to stay at Hampton when I traveled to Datong, but Hampton was fully booked every day and I couldn't book it. Then I searched and carefully selected this Mercure. It is next to the shopping mall, and it is super convenient to eat and drink takeout. It is also very close to Fantawild Ancient City. The price is more practical than Hampton, and it is not a pitfall at all. The hardware and software facilities, service and breakfast are all very good. When checking in at the lobby, children can stamp the combination seal, which is very interesting and beautiful.
Originally, I was going to stay for one day and go somewhere else the next day. Later, because I didn't leave at Fantawild too late, I extended it for another day. After returning, I took the initiative to upgrade the room.
The breakfast is delicious. I eat with my children every morning and feel satisfied. I go out to play with full energy. I will stay at Mercure next time I come to Datong. I am so satisfied!

GGuest UserThe hotel is conveniently located; you can easily find it by turning left into Fuyuan after entering through Yongtai East Gate. The rooms are equipped with smart amenities, though the absence of a magnifying makeup mirror was a minor inconvenience for someone with poor eyesight like myself. The hotel boasts modern decor, excellent hygiene, and convenient parking. We had to leave early for the Yungang Grottoes and unfortunately missed breakfast.

JJamesBeautiful new hotel. Very friendly staff who offered two gifts to every room during the national holiday. Room felt spacious and luxurious and was sunny and mostly quiet during a very busy holiday period. Hotel restaurant was also delicious with good service. We ate there twice. We also had breakfast everyday of our stay. Very nice quality including lots of local ingredients and choices was fantastic! The hotel is so conveniently located in the ancient city. Walking distance to a really nice cafe with great coffee, lots of restaurants and all the main attractions including pop up laneway markets selling ancient treasures. Honestly, it’s a fantastic hotel and felt worth the price. Would definitely stay again!

BBuziI had a wonderful stay at the Hampton Hotel in Datong and was genuinely impressed by the level of service and hospitality. The room was modern, spotless, and well-equipped with all the amenities you’d expect from a quality stay — comfortable bedding, fast Wi-Fi, and a clean, spacious bathroom.
What truly stood out, though, was the staff. They went above and beyond by preparing an early breakfast pack for us when we had to check out before the buffet opened — a small gesture that made a big difference. They also safely stored our luggage after checkout, allowing us to explore the city hands-free before heading to the train station.
Overall, the service was efficient, friendly, and thoughtful. If you’re visiting Datong, I highly recommend staying at Hampton — they make traveling easy and comfortable from start to finish.

It is no problem for a family of three to stay in a big bed. The bathroom is separated into dry and wet areas. The breakfast is also very good. Overall, it is very cost-effective.

LLaofu1. I booked a room for two days, but I didn't expect that I needed to cancel one day of accommodation because I neglected to book the Yungang Grottoes tickets in advance. The hotel was very understanding and allowed early check-out, which was very humane.
2. It can be said that the high-rise hotel closest to the ancient city of Datong in the south can indeed see the ancient city wall. It is only about fifteen minutes' walk away, so it is not far.
3. The hotel service is very good. Whether it is hotel supplies or millet porridge for midnight snack, they are all delivered enthusiastically.
4. The ground parking lot is a little crowded, but as for the underground parking lot, it is no problem for small cars, but for a 7-seater commercial vehicle, you need to choose a good location, otherwise it will be difficult to drive out. Parking is still very convenient.

I stayed for three days and I enjoyed the comfortable and spacious room with its soft floor, the adjustable illumination and the goodies which I received daily as well as the breakfast buffet, which included a variety of Chinese food, salad, fruits, toast, cornflakes, little cakes and freshly made noodle soup.
