Very good experience
Breakfast in the room only needs 5 pounds service charge. The hotel culture is well integrated with the local area. Durham deserves the title of the first, and the cost performance is very high at more than 1k. The room is very spacious, but the lighting is very dim, and the air conditioner makes strange noises due to the age of the hotel. It is recommended to book the western restaurant in the hotel, T-Bone is delicious.
Beautiful exterior, in superior grounds. Amazing Spa and Golf facilities alongside some beautiful restaurants. Average room is £200 a night but feel like just paying for the hotels name. Bathroom was lovely clean and modern but room felt dark, the tree was fully covering one of the windows which looked like it had been opened with some branches coming through, plaster was coming away around the window, marks and chunks in the walls, tv remote wouldn’t work and the batteries had corroded in the remove.
For room value I just expected more, and for it to feel more luxurious than it did.
Hotel in a historic building right in the centre of the town. It is a nice place to stay and has a convenient location. Staff were friendly and helpful.
More like a club 18-30 experience.
The hotel was fantastic, food excellent and staff went way, way beyond. However, the main function of a hotel is to have somewhere to sleep. The hotel had two weddings on the night of my stay and between 12:45 and 14:30 I was unable to sleep for the screaming, laughing, partying that was going on throughout the corridors. I never heard any staff trying to resolve the situation, just plenty of noise.
I had to pay £20 surcharge for my dogs to stay and they were not allowed In the restaurant - which is very reasonable, but have to say that they were better behaved that the other animals who were not required to pay any surcharge or not required to follow any basic behavioural rules.
On checkout, I was not even asked if I had a pleasant stay. I assume the staff did not want confirmation of their mismanagement.
If this is the sort of establishment used but Trip.com, then I can only say first impressions go a long way and I will stick to other hotel brokers in future.
I have been to Hartlepool many times in the past stayed in different places over the years but the Grand Hotel I liked nice staff spacious rooms location ideal I did come across one rude customer that was not very nice despite the staff doing g everything they could for her so I just had to tell her off fo being so rude definitely will stay again and also o e mention to the curry house in the same building excellent food and again nice staff
Wonderful hotel! The location was perfect for visiting the city, just a hop over the bridge to get to the centre.
The room was really spacious with a large bed, sofa and coffee table, desk, and plenty of room in between. There was a kettle and tea/instant coffee as well as a Nespresso machine, and a mini fridge, which came in very handy for cooling drinks. The bathroom was clean and had a good layout with a shower screen over the tub (no spills!) and plenty of soap holders. There was also lush This Works shampoo and conditioner and really nice shower gel. It felt much more luxurious than we expected - even providing bath robes and slippers.
We had a second floor room with a cathedral view (we could hear the bells!), overlooking the road outside. Traffic calmed down at night and did not disturb our sleep, and the hotel was quiet overall.
The room had been cleaned well, but there were slight oversights: the front of the desk and coffee maker handle, for example, showed historic spills; the window (with modern additional pane to create double glazing) had other guests' forehead- and nose prints on them (we discovered ourselves how easy it is to be taken in by the view, lean forward, and forget that there's a window there...), but the bathroom, bed, and floors were absolutely hygienic and we felt comfortable nevertheless.
Staff were lovely, welcoming and helpful. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay!
We have a lovely stay in this hotel. The cleanliness of the room is superb and the staff are very friendly. We will definitely come back

AAirborn63The hotel is located at the edge of Chester le Street about half way between Durham and Newcastle. The hotel is a small castle built over 600 years ago with great function rooms that transport you into being a prince or princess.
There is a lot of green around the castle and Chester le Street Golf Course is on the doorstep.
Rooms in the castle are very nice but there are also rooms outside of the castle which may be preferable for older people. The restaurant serves a great meal and they have an extensive wine list.

Ppete brackersCame to Darlington to visit.friends. The staff we're fantastic upon arrival and during the stay. The room had a few issues which were reported to the staff and the hotel itself could do with a face-lift as a bannatyne hotel.
Again I will stress the staff we're amazing.
GGuest UserFood was lovely , clean well kept rooms not so great on checkout when the receptionist did not recognise trip . Com and advised we hadn’t paid despite us showing her confirmation of pre payment
