SSimpleTravelerGreat place in Pingyao. It is reasonably priced, a bit out of the very center (meaning also out of tourists crowds that can be quite noisy in the evenings and mornings), but still close, has same old-style design as the more popular and well-established places that cater to foreigners, but priced twice as much. Pick-up and drop off service is provided - just contact the hotel in advance via phone using the reception of tour previous hotel - no one speaks English - it will solve your communication issue if you do not speak Chinese. At the place itself everyone is very eager to help - use your phone app to translate. Onwer helped me to buy tickets to Pingyao attractions and Terracota Army as I was heading to Xian next (available only through WeChat Pay that is in turn is not availablefor foreign tourists as of April 2023). If you go to Shuanglin temple, be sure to ask to buy tickets through WeChat for you as well. I was able to buy physical one by pure compassion of local guard who asked the staff to open ticket office just for me (Probably was the only foreigner in Pingyao at a time). Please also note that as of April 2023, the reconstruction works in the historical city parts are continuing, so, large chunks of the city within the walls are not looking as great as it could have been. The very center of the city is mostly untouched though and you can still come and explore. If going in spring, be prepared for the temperature swings. I got a temperature drop from 28C to 3C within 2 days by the moment I got to Pingyao. It was even snowing at night.

AAnonymous UserTraveling solo, I randomly picked this hotel, and it completely surpassed my expectations! They even contacted me while I was still on the high-speed train. It's just a short walk from the North Gate; turn right, and you're there. It happened to be raining that evening, but even quick photos of the exterior turned out stunning! The lady at the front desk even helped me with my luggage. The room also had complimentary snacks, and the courtyard view was beautiful. Absolutely incredible value for money!!!

PPhoenix FuSuch great experience! The staffs were super helpful, kind and friendly. You can easily tell that they were happy to help out as much as they could for us to have a better experience. The room was clean without any visible dust when we first walked in, it was so obvious that they put their heart into what they do. We also recieved snack bag upon our departure! I will definitely come back to stay with them everytime i come to pingyao!

EEaffyMy stay at Pingyao Juhongyuan Mansion (Part 2) was truly memorable. The hotel’s cleanliness and hygiene were impeccable, creating a comfortable and cozy atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, providing excellent service throughout our visit. The private courtyard was beautifully maintained, adding to the charm of the property.
One of the standout features was the hotel’s thoughtful arrangement of transportation services, including a dedicated car for pickups and drop-offs. The rooms were fully equipped with smart technology, ensuring a modern and convenient stay.

Aathanasios piliourisWhen I book hotels, the most important factor is cleanliness, and let me tell you: this hotel did not disappoint. It was absolutely spotless! Not a speck of dust in the entire place. Additionally, the room was very spacious, the hotel staff were incredibly attentive, the breakfast was decent, it was within a few minutes walk to the old town and the old train station, the lobby was actually quite lovely, and the value was great! This was money well spent, indeed. The only complaints I would have is that you can actually hear the noise coming in from the hallway, which is only a problem if you have noisy guests staying there, which I did the first night. Also, the air-conditioner wasn't really working in my room, and was blowing out heat instead.

YYordan VasilevI’ve been traveling in different countries and staying in different hotels across Europe and Asia for the past ~15 years. The Drama house hotel is among the few that made me want to sit down either at the lobby, or at the inner court, just to enjoy the atmosphere. The staff were also very friendly and helpful, assisting also with the pickup and drop off from the Pingyaogucheng station (not to be confused with the nearby station). Location is also superb. Definitely recommend the hotel as well as Pyngao.

DDelikexiaoluosiMy top pick for black truffle hotels and guesthouses in Pingyao! This hotel was the biggest surprise of my trip to Pingyao. It's perfectly located within the ancient city's north gate, a 10-minute walk away from the hustle and bustle of tourists. The rooms are elegant and bright, and the cotton is dry and fluffy.
The decor, a blend of modern and traditional Eastern charm, perfectly complements the ancient city, somewhat reminiscent of Huazhu Group's Xiyue Hotel.
The hotel's service truly impressed me with the warm hospitality of the people of Pingyao! It felt more like visiting an old friend's home than staying in a hotel.
Really great! Looking forward to seeing Pingyao again!

The atmosphere is truly authentic—you feel like you've stepped back in time. It's the perfect base for exploring this charming city.
The rooms are clean and reflect the traditional style of the surroundings, adding to the overall charm. But what truly made our stay special was the staff: incredibly friendly and always willing to help. Despite the language barrier, they went out of their way to communicate with us, using translation apps and lots of patience. We felt genuinely welcomed.
All in all, highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique and memorable stay in historic Pingyao!
