"Such great experience! The staffs were super helpful, kind and friendly. You can easily tell that they were happy to help out as much as they could for us to have a better experience. The room was clean without any visible dust when we first walked in, it was so obvious that they put their heart into what they do. We also recieved snack bag upon our departure! I will definitely come back to stay with them everytime i come to pingyao!"

GGuest UserWe chose Taotang B&B for our trip to Pingyao. It's the most personal B&B we've ever stayed in! It felt like home! I was initially drawn to Taotang by its pictures, but the experience completely changed my perception of accommodation—it's more than just a B&B; it's truly a home away from home!
Tucked away in the heart of Pingyao Ancient Town, it offers a tranquil escape from the bustle. Navigating to it is easy, and the moment you step inside feels like discovering a treasure trove! The surrounding area is incredibly convenient, with restaurants aplenty, so all you have to worry about is what to eat each day—there are so many delicious options. The B&B is decorated in a neo-Chinese style—simple yet sophisticated, with every detail telling a story.
The room was much larger than I expected! The bed was incredibly soft, and the mattress and pillows were incredibly comfortable. I slept soundly without any back pain, and slept soundly through the night. In the morning, opening the curtains and letting the sunlight stream in was an instant relief! The bathroom has separate wet and dry areas, and the toiletries are from LE LABO, a niche brand under Yadai. They smell amazing and are packed with details!
I have to give a special shoutout to our host, Zhang Liangwei, who helped me contact the guides for the ancient city, and the front desk lady, who was incredibly attentive. The high-speed rail station pick-up and drop-off, daily mung bean soup, snacks, and fruit...everything about our B&B truly reflects their thoughtfulness.
This B&B made my trip to Pingyao so much more heartwarming. Not only was my stay comfortable, but I also experienced a ton of personal warmth! I've already recommended it to all my friends and anyone who wants to ”live like a local” ~ The photos are terrible, so you can refer to the B&B's own photos, which are absolutely authentic.

- Mentioning ”details” makes it more authentic (e.g., ”There's a non-slip mat in the bathroom” or ”There's a nightlight by the bed”).

AAnonymous UserAfter getting off the train, the hotel sent a special car to pick us up and even offered a farewell after check-out. Upon arrival, a bespectacled man carefully checked the suitcase handles, not the trolleys, and even misplaced them! The hotel's amenities are excellent, with a charming courtyard—perhaps one of the better-designed hotels in Pingyao! The hotel also provides a well-designed travel map, making it easy to access Pingyao's main street. The breakfast was excellent, with a variety of side dishes presented in a grid format, ideal for nutritious meals. The hotel also provided complimentary afternoon tea, and the staff were incredibly helpful! Overall, it was a great experience!

GGuest UserA few days ago, I went out with my boyfriend and booked this inn with a relatively high cost performance. I mainly like the ancient style of decoration. It was my first time staying in a kang and I felt very comfortable. The kang was very big and the bathroom was very clean. Overall, it was very good. From the second floor, you can see the scenery of the city wall, which looks very nice!

GGuest UserYisu Mansion brought me too many surprises and touches. I recommend everyone to choose her home when coming to Pingyao. First of all, I really want to write a review and share it with you. The store has not made any request to write a review. The landlady was warm and thoughtful, and arranged everything for us in an orderly manner. No matter what time you travel, the mansion's car is always on call. In short, listen to the boss lady and avoid all pitfalls. The rooms in the mansion are very clean, and the whole courtyard is filled with the smell of the ancient city. I have a few recommendations: You must watch Pingyao Again, it’s so shocking. Just let the lady boss draw you a map of the scenic spots. I have tried it for everyone. Don’t make the mistake of choosing Kang Qian Ji, Bai Shan Xi, and Hong Wu Ji. If you want to bring some Pingyao beef, just ask the proprietress to buy the kind she has for breakfast. I highly recommend asking the boss lady to contact you for travel photography, the photos are so good😀. If there is one drawback, it is that the proprietress is too low-key. She secretly tells everyone that her private wine is so delicious that you must buy a bottle and try it. If I don’t tell you this, the boss lady won’t take the initiative to tell you either😄

MM582920****The butler service was excellent, ensuring a worry-free stay. Free pick-up and drop-off service was provided. I was the only guest, and they upgraded my room. There was a movie screening in the evening. The hot water in the bathtub seemed to be faulty; no hot water came out. However, the heated kang bed was very comfortable, and I slept soundly the next day. Breakfast wasn't particularly impressive, and it was far too little; I wasn't full at all.

GGuest UserI've found out about Jinzhai in the middle of COVID and wanted to stay here in for years. It met all my expectations and more! All the staff were incredibly generous and sweet with my daughter. Just book early because not many rooms are available and may book out fast with tour groups. Thank you for such a lovely stay.

AAnonymous UserThe hotel is full of the style of the Republic of China. Being in it, you feel like traveling through time. If you like cheongsam, you can wear a cheongsam and take a beautiful photo. The room is spacious and elegant and classical. The breakfast is rich, with both Chinese and Western food, which can satisfy the taste buds. The price of lunch and dinner is moderate, the tableware is disinfected, clean and hygienic, and there are various cuisines. The taste is good and worth trying. The large-scale live performance ”See Pingyao Again” is near the hotel, only about 5 minutes walk.

SSteven Van EmelenWhat a wonderful experience! The hotel is located in a beautiful historic setting within the ancient city walls of Pingyao, right in the heart of the old town. The atmosphere is truly authentic—you feel like you've stepped back in time. It's the perfect base for exploring this charming city.
The rooms are clean and reflect the traditional style of the surroundings, adding to the overall charm. But what truly made our stay special was the staff: incredibly friendly and always willing to help. Despite the language barrier, they went out of their way to communicate with us, using translation apps and lots of patience. We felt genuinely welcomed.
All in all, highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique and memorable stay in historic Pingyao!

VVAYangExcellent location with a nice intro buffet dinner for local cuisine and breakfast included. Next to an important Taoist shrine and provision shops. Also within 5-10 min walk from the “New East Gate” which is important if you want to take a taxi for sights outside the walled city. Note outside vehicles are not allowed to get into the walled city. Extremely helpful staff and the high speed rail station to hotel transfer service is much appreciated especially since outside taxi cannot get into the hotel location. We speak mandarin and found the ancient city tour guides well worth the money. Look for the guides with the standardised purple windbreakers in winter. Standardised price but worth every cent. Glad my family took the detour to Ping Yao
