"Such a beautiful boutique hotel. Courtyard is so pretty and the rooms were really nice too. Bathtub in the bedroom (additional to the shower). Also very helpful and friendly staff, driver took us around the ancient town and told us about all the main tourist attractions. A short walk to the main streets (south street and west street). Would recommend :)"

MM1043****As a native of Shanxi, I have to accompany friends from other places to Pingyao from time to time. Because the attractions in central Shanxi are relatively dense and not far away, there are few opportunities to stay in Pingyao Ancient City. This time, I happened to take my family to Pingyao for an impromptu family trip. Pingyao Ancient City has changed a lot in recent years. The battery cars are managed uniformly and everyone changes cars outside the city to enter the ancient city, so the overall walking atmosphere is very good.
Taotang Hotel has a total of 10 rooms, each of which is very large. The overall hardware and software are very attentive, the traditional Shanxi courtyard design, and the butler-style service are comprehensively considered to be the highest-end hotel in Pingyao Ancient City. The hotel is located on the core main street. Because we brought children and large and small bags of luggage, the boss and the waiter personally picked us up throughout the journey, and the room also installed a child fence for the baby! Everything was done very carefully, and the food for the young baby was specially arranged in the kitchen without adding oil and salt! Thank you so much!
Different from the professional service training and rhetoric of traditional hotels; the boss and staff are more like family members, they don’t say any polite words but take care of the guests’ needs anytime and anywhere. We Shanxi people are reserved and real in our bones!
I wish the hotel business to be prosperous and all aspects will be further improved!

The location of the hotel is simply unparalleled, located next to West Street, which makes it possible to integrate into the lively and bustling of the ancient city as soon as we leave the hotel, and it is very convenient to visit various attractions. Pingyuan Gongfu Hotel itself has a sense of history, and the ancient yard seems to be telling the story of the past, beautiful and rich in cultural heritage. The bricks, tiles, grass and wood in the courtyard all show the unique charm of Pingyao Ancient City. Living here, as if crossing back to ancient times, experience the living atmosphere of ancient Jin merchants.
The hotel’s service is even more impressive. The front desk staff made people feel kind and enthusiastic. From the driver's master to pick us up into the ancient city, to the staff to help us with our luggage, their meticulous service, let us feel the warmth of home from the moment we stepped into the hotel. The hotel facilities are complete and complete, reflecting the care of guests everywhere, not only sent fresh fruit, the room is also equipped with Evian mineral water and various snacks and snacks, the most pleasant surprise is that all of this is free. When you are tired, enjoy everything the hotel provides, and the fatigue will dissipate instantly.

GGuest UserYisu Mansion brought me too many surprises and touches. I recommend everyone to choose her home when coming to Pingyao. First of all, I really want to write a review and share it with you. The store has not made any request to write a review. The landlady was warm and thoughtful, and arranged everything for us in an orderly manner. No matter what time you travel, the mansion's car is always on call. In short, listen to the boss lady and avoid all pitfalls. The rooms in the mansion are very clean, and the whole courtyard is filled with the smell of the ancient city. I have a few recommendations: You must watch Pingyao Again, it’s so shocking. Just let the lady boss draw you a map of the scenic spots. I have tried it for everyone. Don’t make the mistake of choosing Kang Qian Ji, Bai Shan Xi, and Hong Wu Ji. If you want to bring some Pingyao beef, just ask the proprietress to buy the kind she has for breakfast. I highly recommend asking the boss lady to contact you for travel photography, the photos are so good😀. If there is one drawback, it is that the proprietress is too low-key. She secretly tells everyone that her private wine is so delicious that you must buy a bottle and try it. If I don’t tell you this, the boss lady won’t take the initiative to tell you either😄

They provided a free high-speed rail pick-up, helped with our luggage, and offered helpful recommendations for nearby restaurants and attractions. We also received a free room upgrade. The room was spotlessly clean, the wall-mounted drinking fountain was convenient, the shower had stable water pressure and temperature, and disposable towels were provided. Breakfast was extensive. The location is also fantastic, with the city building just outside, perfect for photo opportunities. Highly recommended for travelers or business trips!

Didi cannot drive into the ancient city (we didn’t know that in advance), so we had to walk a bit with our luggage on the cobblestone streets. The hotel staff can help book a car that can arrive to their courtyard, which is a lot more convenient.

It's walking distance from everything to see in Pingyao and they have free transfer to the airport which was a plus as we arrived in the city at night. We took the high speed train arrived at Pingyaocheng station which is around 15 minutes away from the ancient city. When you enter the city wall gate, you will be amazed of the narrow streets and cobblestone road. Picked Yundingxuan hotel because it was closed to the North gate so
If the taxi was to dropped us off it’ll be a short walk but the driver dropped us off near the hotel because cars are not allowed within the main streets.
The hotel is closed to 200 years old and have characteristics of the Ming and Qing dynasties. I was born in Vietnam,
With roots to China but raised up in the US since I was 7 years old. I’ve seen Chinese movies but nothing will prepare you to the hotel and the ancient city. I was surprised how big the hotel complex was. All the staff were very nice, the main host spoke English, and the breakfasts were traditional Chinese breakfast. We stayed two nights and we felt safe throughout our visit. My wife and daughter appreciated the three hotel cats and all the felines throughout the city.
I’m sure the other hotels are fantastic and will give your a unique experience but I can vouch for Yundingxuan. Just be prepared to get out your comfort zone but be amazed by the visual and taste of Pingyao Ancient City.
