From the moment I stepped into Pingyao, I was completely won over by Taotang Inn's thoughtfulness. - Luxurious Transfer, Grand Entrance: As soon as I got off the high-speed train, a Maybach arranged by the hotel was waiting. The spacious back seat, supple leather upholstery, and smooth ride into the ancient city instantly melted away travel fatigue. Talk about arriving in style! - A Detail-Oriented Dream: Every corner of the room spoke of meticulous design – dark walnut wainscoting paired with warm-glow glass lamps created a retro yet sophisticated ambiance. The bedding was incredibly soft and gentle on the skin, and the mattress offered perfect support; I didn't want to get out of bed for two nights straight! The bathroom was an even bigger surprise, with high-end toiletries like Le Labo Santal 33 hand soap and Appelles mouthwash, plus the latest Dyson hairdryer. My hair was smooth and frizz-free after drying, the quality was truly palpable. - Heartwarming Butler Service: Whenever we left, the butler would always hand us a warm bottle of mineral water and patiently recommend authentic local restaurants, even planning our routes for us. After a tiring day exploring the ancient city, returning to the hotel's warm, soft lighting and peaceful courtyard instantly calmed us down. It truly felt like coming home. - Ancient Charm, Peaceful Retreat: The hotel itself is a beautifully preserved Jin merchant courtyard, with red lanterns hanging high and intricately carved wooden window lattices. During the day, we sunbathed and enjoyed tea in the courtyard, and at night, we drifted off to sleep listening to the quiet sounds of the ancient city. It perfectly balanced historical charm with modern comfort. This was by far the best choice of my Shanxi trip, no exaggeration! Next time I'm in Pingyao, I'm definitely staying here again. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for quality and a warm, inviting atmosphere!

JJiebudiaodejimoThe location is great, nestled between Yingxun Gate (South Gate) and Shangxi Gate, making it convenient for sightseeing yet surprisingly quiet. The facilities are good, but what really impressed me was picture #2 [assuming this refers to a specific feature/amenity shown in a picture]. I hope they can plug in the outlets before guests check in. The buckwheat pillow was very comfortable! The service was excellent; they communicated in advance about pickup/drop-off and even offered to drive me to attractions. Breakfast was abundant, featuring local specialties like Pingyao beef. It was well-balanced and tasty. The menu changed over the two days, though for me, there was a bit too much meat. If a full buffet isn't feasible, perhaps offering an à la carte menu where guests can choose their items would help reduce waste. And the cats at the hotel are adorable!

MMengyunThis hotel boasts an excellent location within the ancient city walls, right by the pedestrian street. The service was impeccable; after parking at the north gate, two hotel staff members met us with a cart to help with our luggage. They then escorted us on a scenic vehicle directly to the hotel entrance. The hotel itself is incredibly picturesque, perfect for photos in traditional attire. It's quiet and elegant, truly making you feel like you've stepped back in time. All the facilities are new, featuring smart home technology, yet maintaining an authentic ancient Chinese style. The breakfast was plentiful, light, and nutritious, offering a good variety of meats, vegetables, and whole grains. Other meals can be ordered à la carte. I really love this hotel and would definitely stay here again if I return to Pingyao! Many thanks to all the hotel staff for their warm hospitality!

This homestay is very thoughtful; they helped us book discounted tickets for 'Another Pingyao' in advance, and during our stay, they assisted with calling taxis, booking restaurants, and arranging a tour guide. When an elder accidentally fell in the room, the landlady even bought spray and plasters for them. The room was very comfortable, and the breakfast had a good variety and was delicious; they were also flexible with adding or removing items, and there was a sweet soup every day. The only minor complaint might be that the pillows were a bit too firm...

The family room I booked includes breakfast for two, and the front desk also added breakfast for the child for free. The front desk service is in place. They booked a chartered car tour service for Pingyao Ancient City for us. There were 8 of us, and the price was 270 yuan, including the guide's explanation and the sightseeing car. It was a good deal. There were elderly people in the group, and we didn't want to work too hard. Fortunately, we made an appointment, otherwise the young people wouldn't be able to bear it. The ancient city is not small. Without a guide, it was a bit confusing to find the route. It was easy to go the wrong way. I walked around at night and got a general idea of ​​where to go. When I checked out, they proactively reminded me to scan the code and enter the license plate number. Free parking was provided, and souvenirs were prepared. It was very good. I will renew my I8 reservation if I have the chance.

PPanPivoI must highly recommend this wonderful hotel in the historic centre of Pingyao. The hotel is really authentic, well equipped, the room was beautiful and I didn't miss anything during my stay. The owner is very nice and helpful, he was able to help me with everything. The front desk is guarded by a small, beautiful dog who gives you a proper greeting. Everything is a short walk from the hotel yet it is in a quiet area where you won't be disturbed. Not choosing this hotel for my stay would be a big mistake. Hotel je opravdu autentický, dobře vybavený, pokoj byl krásný a během pobytu mi nic nechybělo. Majitel je velmi milý a ochotný, se vším mi dokázal pomoci. Recepci hlídá malý, krásný pejsek, který vás náležitě přivítá. Vše je kousek od hotelu a přitom je v klidné oblasti, kde vás nebude nikdo rušit. GGuest UserAn incredible stay in Pingyao, made even more special by the wonderful hosts of this beautiful hotel. The setting is deeply traditional, stunning during the day and truly magical at night when the lanterns light up the courtyard, creating a peaceful and charming atmosphere. The hosts, a lovely couple, are exceptionally kind and generous. They provided great advice on exploring the city, recommended excellent local spots to discover Pingyao and Shanxi cuisine, and were always ready to help make our stay as smooth as possible. I would recommend staying at least three nights to fully enjoy the city and perhaps explore some of the nearby temples. And before you leave, don’t forget to pick up a bottle of the homemade vinegar produced at the hotel—it’s a unique and memorable souvenir!
