"We traveled as a family of five to Pingyao and stayed three nights at the Jinxuan hotel. The stay was an absolute delight, the hosts are extremely friendly and helpful with everything. They picked us up from the train station which made it very easy to find a place.
Jinxuan it’s located in the very heart of Pingyao and everything is easy to reach on foot. The facilities are simple and clean, the rooms are located in a very quiet patio of one of the traditional houses in in Pingyao. We stayed in a duplex room that offered lots of space for a family. The breakfast is traditional Chinese and the hosts spoiled us on the last day with some homegrown corn and tomatoes. If you’re looking for an authentic experience, we can absolutely recommend this place. "

GGuest UserThis is truly a hidden gem in Pingyao Ancient Town. The facilities and service are comparable to, or even better than, a major hotel! Be sure to book in advance if you're planning on a holiday! The owner added contact information and sent us information about the location, parking, and even provided pick-up and drop-off services. So thoughtful! During check-in, he patiently explained the key attractions in the ancient city and recommended great restaurants! If you're looking to take photos of the ”young wives” of Shanxi merchants, this is a must-do! The free outdoor locations are fantastic! The amenities provided in the room are all disposable and clean! The toilet water heater is also a reputable brand, so there's no need to worry about safety issues! Highly recommended to anyone staying in Pingyao!

First I booked other hotel close to Pingyao Ancient city but too much noise. I decide to move to Mercure and that was the best decision I made.
I had an absolutely wonderful experience at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff greeted me with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. The check-in process was smooth and quick, and my room was spotless, spacious, and beautifully designed.
The on-site restaurant served delicious meals with a great variety of options, and the breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve ever had. The location was perfect — close to everything yet peaceful and quiet at night.
What truly stood out was the outstanding service. The staff went above and beyond to make sure I felt welcome and comfortable. I would 100% stay here again and recommend this hotel.

AAnonymous UserTraveling solo, I randomly picked this hotel, and it completely surpassed my expectations! They even contacted me while I was still on the high-speed train. It's just a short walk from the North Gate; turn right, and you're there. It happened to be raining that evening, but even quick photos of the exterior turned out stunning! The lady at the front desk even helped me with my luggage. The room also had complimentary snacks, and the courtyard view was beautiful. Absolutely incredible value for money!!!

The room was clean without any visible dust when we first walked in, it was so obvious that they put their heart into what they do. We also recieved snack bag upon our departure! MM447923****The guesthouse is located on Yamen Street, very close to the county government office, the Temple of Martial Arts, and the former residence of Lei Lutai. It's also convenient to visit South Street and Yingxun Gate. The rooms were clean, and the owner was very kind. It rained the day I arrived, and the owner arranged for me to be picked up from the station, which was very thoughtful. He even gave me two bottles of vinegar when I left.

WWhite FamilyWe had a good experience staying here. They were patient with our lack of ability to speak Chinese and we’re prepared to communicate through translation apps. The room was well accommodated and clean. Bottled water was provided and a traditional Chinese breakfast was available each morning. If you need your coffee in the morning to get started, you will need to bring your own or is it one of the coffee stands throughout town. The hotel is on one of the Backstreets next to a park and requires about a five minute walk to get to the main shopping streets, but as result is also quiet. thanks for a great day.

As an unexpected surprise I was picked up from the train station and offered to get brought back. In general the service has been above and beyond helping me to find my way around to the sights I wanted to see. The included breakfast was also delicious with a choice of different local dishes. The room in ancient style was clean and had all the modern amenities. The highlight was the courtyard and the view from one of the higher floors.

The atmosphere is truly authentic—you feel like you've stepped back in time. It's the perfect base for exploring this charming city.
The rooms are clean and reflect the traditional style of the surroundings, adding to the overall charm. But what truly made our stay special was the staff: incredibly friendly and always willing to help. Despite the language barrier, they went out of their way to communicate with us, using translation apps and lots of patience. We felt genuinely welcomed.
All in all, highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique and memorable stay in historic Pingyao!
