"It was a little difficult to find the place to check in. This was a nice, clean hotel room. We stayed in a family friendly room. The beds were comfortable and there were drawers and a lot of counter space, a desk, end table, and small table. There were 3 extra pillows in a cabinet. There was an access code, so when someone left others weren't left in the dark and checkout was just a matter of sending a message via WeChat. We really liked this hotel!"

"I was traveling with my children and added a day to my itinerary, so I booked this guesthouse. It's very conveniently located near Huayan Temple and the Buddha Companion, just a few minutes' walk away. The owner was very welcoming. Seeing I had two children with me, he gave them two toys as soon as we walked in, much to their delight. He also gave them some fruit as a gift. Although the room faced the street, it was well-insulated and had a small terrace, but unfortunately, I didn't use it because I only stayed one night. The amenities in the room were comparable to those of a four- or five-star hotel, with separate wet and dry areas in the bathroom and a foot bath for the elderly."

"I had a good impression of the ancient city of Datong and the Nancheng Beixiang B&B where I stayed this time. I checked out yesterday and went to the Hanging Temple. I was very satisfied with this newly built B&B. I started traveling south and north in mid-May and passed through many cities. I often encountered unpleasant situations when staying in hotels along the way, but this B&B was very different. The hostess was enthusiastic and patient, and the reception was thoughtful. It can be seen that she was running this B&B with heart. The B&B has large windows, is clean, warm and tidy, the beds are comfortable, the air conditioner is noiseless and the temperature is comfortable, and the power will not be cut off after people leave. In particular, the bathroom is impeccably clean, even the putty lines in the corners between the wall tiles and the floor tiles have no stains, and every corner is very clean (I always pay attention to some details in the hotel); there is a large reception activity space on the first floor with books and picture albums; there is also a very new kitchen with stoves, refrigerators, etc. (it is also so clean, but unfortunately we are running non-stop to the attractions and have no time to use the kitchen). The B&B is very close to the most lively Drum Tower in the ancient city, and it is very convenient to travel. After getting off the taxi, I walked directly into a small alley (Fuxueli), where there was a group of newly built blue brick and tile houses with quaint style. The community was green with trees and winding paths, and it was quaint. It took two minutes to enter the B&B. There were potted flowers and plants in the courtyard, and a small elevator was installed in the four-story building. The B&B is located in a prosperous area of the ancient city, but it is very quiet. The blue brick walls and winding paths isolate the noisy sounds of the small city, and I can sleep well every night. I really like this small B&B that is like an outdoor paradise."

"Facilities: The hotel is located within the ancient city. You need to park your car in the Dongnanyi parking lot and walk 100 meters to the hotel. There are no charging stations in the parking lot, and the nearest charging station is very congested, making charging inconvenient. Cleanliness: Clean
Environment: Nice, with a shared tea room within the courtyard. The hotel is very close to the ancient city center; just turn left and go straight.
Service: Ok. The housekeeper added me on WeChat in advance, but didn't send me the room number or door code. The route map they sent said it was a 30-meter walk from the parking lot. There was indeed a place 30 meters away, but it wasn't the courtyard I was staying in. I called the housekeeper and was told I needed to walk further. Upon entering the courtyard, I was stunned. No one from the hotel was there. I called the housekeeper while holding my luggage in the courtyard before I was able to check in. A package arrived at the hotel, and the housekeeper said it would be in my room. When I returned to my room, it wasn't there. I called and found out it had been placed in the shared tea room. It was something that could have been handled with a WeChat message. I didn't feel like a housekeeper at all. If this is considered housekeeper service, I suggest they have a front desk.

"I absolutely loved this inn during my visit to Datong. The projection and landscaping were stunning, and watching movies in bed was incredibly smooth. The toilet was also an Anhua smart toilet, and the sanitation was excellent. I felt like I was staying in a small inn, yet I could still experience the service of a large hotel. It's also close to all the major attractions in the ancient city, and transportation is convenient. I'll definitely recommend it to my friends when I return."

GGuest UserThe location is right at the center of the city. If you drive your own car, it might be challenging to live here as it's too central and always have traffic jam nearby. But if you are not driving then it's the perfect location. Many restaurants nearby, and a bakery right at the corner. there's also a cafe not far away, you can easily get coffee in the morning.
Room is big enough for two persons. Some rooms are facing the main street, it's might getting noisy in the morning. If you mind this, make sure to send email to them in advance to check if your room is facing street...

AAnonymous UserBecause I like big rooms, I booked a family room, and there are extra discounts for staying for three days. The hotel is on the 20th-21st floor of a building next to Datong Railway Station. Downstairs is the Aegean Shopping Park. The second underground floor is the hotel parking lot. You have to pay the parking fee in advance and the hotel will reimburse you later. The room decoration is simple, and towels, cups and other utensils are disposable. The sanitary conditions are good. The first room assigned was next to the laundry room and had a sewage odor, so we were quickly moved to another room. There is a Tonghe Hotel near the train station, which serves authentic Datong cuisine and is not expensive. There is a Fudao Noodle Restaurant on Wuding West Street, 300 meters away from the hotel, which serves breakfast at 6:30, and it tastes good.

GGuest UserI was greeted with a fruit platter during check-in, which was a wonderful welcome gesture considering I left my home about 24 hours earlier, traveling non-stop from California to Datong, China. The Inn provides a wonderful experience for the first-time foreign visitor. The interior decor has that Chinese charm consisting of artwork, a book display, an aquarium with an auspicious collection of 8 large fishes (carp, I think), in-room tea set with an on-table electric stove, which would be unique to most Westerners. The glass flooring adds an extraordinary appeal since I have never experienced that in a hotel before, and I have traveled to dozens of countries.
The Inn is well located, a short bus ride to Datong Railway Station (for non-high-speed rail travel)*, and a short taxi ride to Datong South Railway Station (for high-speed rail travel)**. It is just next to Datong City Wall. You can walk along the top of the City Wall at no cost. A 10-20 minute walk takes you to nearly all the attractions within the ancient City Wall. Here you will also find a variety of restaurants serving local food as well as souvenir shops. There is also a small shop that sells sundry items including drinks (beer included) within a 5-minute walk from the Inn. Across from this sundry shop, is a shop that specializes in ancient Chinese clothing (Hanfu dress). They can dress you up, cosmetics included.
The Inn provides directions to Yujian Yun Gang - a popular destination for travelers to Datong. Here you will see ancient Buddhist cave art, including large and tall (several stories tall) sculptures. It takes two bus rides to get there, 1RMB per ride.
My booking choice was for either a guest room on the 1st or 2nd floor but was assigned a wonderful 2nd-floor guest room.
The owners of the Inn were exceptionally friendly. I met both the mother and her daughter. My room was professionally cleaned and provided with drinking bottled water daily.
If I return to Datong in the future, I will certainly book a room at this Inn.
*I took a train from this station to travel south to Xinzhou after checking out.

NNoodle KnightLocation is near Datong Ancient City Wall, quite convinient if you want to walk to go inside ancient city. Near hotel there are restaurant and mini market, location is not difficult to find. Room is very neat and tidy, technology of the hotel room is really cool, when you put turn the electricity of the room, the curtain will automaticly close, lamp near the sink will automaticly light when you walk near. Really awesome!
Also receptionist lady is very friendly, there are free self serving laundry too! You can go to building beside hotel in the morning to get breakfast using breakfast coupon. You will be budgeted certain amount and can choose variety of food there. There are sausage, noodles, soup, porridge, and hot drinks. We stay during winter, so hot soup during cold weather is the best. This is worth the price for 3* hotel!

MM558177****This is a very nice youth hostel. The double rooms have smart toilets and Mario-style decor. The beds in the 6- and 12-person rooms are spacious, and the rooms are fragrant, so even if you stay in a shared room, you don't have to worry about odors. There's a large screen in the lobby for watching projections with friends, and there are free esports, PlayStation, chess tables, and tons of board games to play, all for free! There's also free ice cream and mineral water in the lobby, and the disinfection cabinet is easily visible, so you don't have to worry about hygiene issues. Overall, this youth hostel is highly recommended. After staying for two days, I couldn't help but give it a good review. The owner is very kind and will do his best to meet any needs. It's only about a 10-minute drive from the ancient city. If you're visiting Datong, this youth hostel is worth considering! (The double room was a bit messy, so I won't show it. The entertainment room was locked when we left, so I didn't take a picture. It's inconvenient to disturb the shared room, so if you have any questions, please contact the owner.)

黄黄善博The hotel was the priciest that we stayed at during our 45 days in China, though the beds, space, and bathroom were the nicest out of them all. For the price, I would’ve hoped that the staff would’ve been a bit more helpful—no elevator and many bags to carry up the three flights of stairs was really quite difficult. The staff also don’t speak any English at all, and my friend doesn’t speak any Chinese, and we didn’t really understand that you needed to put down a deposit of 100rmb that would then be refunded to you (or that they needed a Chinese phone number too; I didn’t have one, and as a foreigner traveling through China, if I had been by myself or didn’t know or have any Chinese friends with Chinese numbers, I would’ve been unable to check-in).
The hotel was very nice nonetheless. Fantastic location, very close to everything. The walk to the old city wall took about an hour, and would’ve been a ten minute taxi ride. The street the hotel is located on is full of lots of local shops and restaurants, and feels very lively during the day. The staff was also very friendly and enjoyed speaking with the foreigner at the hotel (although I had some trouble understanding the Shanxi accent! Jin Chinese is not my strongest!).
The WiFi was a bit slow. But the beds were incredible. Huge, clean, soft. Pillows were lovely. Bathroom was huge. Just wish there’d been a bit more service from the front desk. Was a tad weird to get up at 5:50am to go to the Hanging Temple 悬空寺, which is very normal, to see the woman at the front desk asleep… it was fine, but still a bit weird.

The capsule was comfortable, unlike the pillow which was really hard. The overall cleanness is okay and the capsule has everything one needs.

GGuest UserThe room was very clean, with plenty of drinking water, good quality disposable utensils, and very comfortable layout. The boss was very considerate, seeing that we were with our children. My husband felt uncomfortable in the middle of the night and went to the emergency room. The boss contacted me early the next morning and asked if there was anything he could help with. He was worried that I, a foreigner, would need help in an emergency. I was very touched. The transportation was very convenient, just next to Chaoyangmen, and it took ten minutes to walk to Gulou East Street. The ancient city wall was right outside the gate. I felt comfortable and at ease when I was away from home. I was satisfied and touched.

VVSTWe enjoyed our three nights stay in this hotel. Quiet and clean except for some not so pleasant smell from the bathroom. The staff are very friendly, helpful and responsive. This includes the free pickup transport driver, the front desk staff and the janitors as well. The breakfast provided by the hotel was so delicious and nutritious, too. We enjoyed the three mornings breakfast with different menu for three consecutive days. The chef and his wife were also very cheerful to see us enjoy their cooking. 👍👍👍👍👍
This hotel is located near to Datong South Railway Station. If you are using the public bus, there are five buses passing through :#68,#66,#61,#31,#14.
Bus #68 & #66 also go to the city. The traveling time from the hotel to the city by public bus is about ½ an hour, ticket price is 2 Yuan each. It's only 20mins by taxi, 15-20 Yuan.
